Winners Announced in 2023 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards

11 November 2023

The winners and medallists of the prestigious Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards were announced tonight at a gala dinner at Crown Perth.

The tourism industry’s premier awards night showcased the innovation and dedication to business excellence of the State’s leading tourism operators across 27 categories.

“The Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards are the most prestigious awards in the tourism industry, with a history of more than 50 years celebrating and recognising business excellence and improving tourism business’ operations,” Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said.

“All participants in the 2023 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards demonstrated a profound commitment to making WA a diverse and welcoming tourism destination for guests. Tonight’s winners have gone up against exceptional competition from tourism operators and can proudly state they are the best of the best,” he said.

The tourism industry’s ultimate prize, the Sir David Brand Award for Tourism, was presented to Ngurrangga Tours for their commitment to delivering authentic tourism experiences as well as developing the industry, business and individuals in the Pilbara region. All gold medal-winning businesses were judged for the opportunity to receive this prestigious accolade.

The highest individual honour in the WA tourism industry, the Sir David Brand Medal for Tourism, was awarded to Peter Prendiville in recognition of his contribution to the industry as an investor, developer and operator of well-known brands such as Sandalford Wines and Samphire Rottnest.

The Awards were made possible by the continual support of several sponsors, particularly Principal Sponsor Perth Airport.

“With international and interstate passenger numbers rebounding strongly over the past 12 months, it’s great to see our tourism operators embracing the demand and continuing to offer outstanding experiences to visitors,” Perth Airport Acting CEO Kate Holsgrove said.

“WA is such a unique part of the world, and these prestigious awards recognise the dedication and excellence of our tourism operators and celebrates their achievements.

“I’d like to congratulate all of the winners and also thank Evan and the team at Tourism Council WA who continue to work tirelessly to advocate for the industry.”

The gold medallists in categories 1 to 26 will go on to represent Western Australia at the Australian Tourism Awards. The Western Australia Tourism Awards are presented by Tourism Council Western Australia.

Boola Bardip, means ‘many stories’ in local Nyoongar language. Our museum offers visitors a dynamic and contemporary experience, shaped by a 'people first' approach and expressed through the authentic voices of Western Australians sharing their stories.

In 2022-23, we were proud to welcome over 455,000 visitors, of which more than 185,00 came from interstate or overseas. Over 1.5 million people have visited since the Museum’s opening in November 2020.

We want to express our gratitude to the Tourism Council WA, Perth Airport, and the esteemed Awards judges for this recognition of our continued commitment to excellence and innovation.

Congratulations also to all fellow award finalists and victors who have played a pivotal role in enhancing our state's flourishing tourism industry!
