Tom Cruise is bringing the Olympics to Los Angeles in Hollywood style!

During the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics , the "Mission Impossible" star was seen rappelling down from the roof of Stade de France where the ceremony is being held on Sunday. The stunt took place after H.E.R. played the U.S. national anthem.

After he descended to the floor on a rope, the actor shook everyone's hands as he walked through the athletes in attendance at the stadium before rushing to the stage.

While on stage during the changeover ceremony, Cruise took the Olympic flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and gymnastics legend Simone Biles who appeared to be wearing a medical boot on her left leg.

Bass and Biles were called on stage earlier to represent the passing of the torch from the Paris Games to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Cruise pinned the flag onto his motorcycle before riding it into the streets of Paris. He was next seen getting onto a plane before the camera panned to a view of the city of Los Angeles.

Towards the end of the big reveal, Cruise was later seen standing in front of the iconic Hollywood sign that was redesigned with the five Olympic rings.

Michael Johnson was then assigned the flag as he ran through the city, before the camera arrived at a beach where the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre took over for a mini concert.

Among songs performed include "Can't Stop," "Birds of a Feather," and "Drop It Like It's Hot."

Sunday marked the end of 2024 Paris Olympics where Team USA closed out the event winning the most medals, with 126 in total.

The actor rappelled into the Stade de France where he picked up the flag from U.S. gymnast Simone Biles.

The "Mission Impossible" and "Top Gun" performer naturally carried the flag over to a motorcycle that he rode out of the stadium.

For those watching the official broadcast of the Closing Ceremony, the live program then switched to what appeared to be a pre-taped cut of Cruise driving through Paris with the flag fashioned to the bike.

He speeds off to a plane that takes him to California where he jumps out of the plane down to the Hollywood sign overlooking Los Angeles.

From scaling a skyscraper to hanging on to the side of an airplane taking off, actor Tom Cruise is no stranger to death-defying stunts.

Back in March, Cruise was spotted with a film crew at the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, scaling the famous landmark, People reported at the time . He was also captured on video appearing to pass a flag to someone.

In late April, he was also spotted on the streets of Paris riding a motorcycle at night, before official filming for his latest "Mission Impossible" movie began. At the time, he was spotted with a film crew and carrying a white flag near the Saint-Georges metro station, the Pont de Bir-Hakeim and around the Arc de Triomphe.

This week, French media reported that Cruise, who is currently in Europe filming “Mission: Impossible 8” and has been spotted in the stands at several Paris Olympic events, including artistic gymnastics, swimming and track & field, will perform a stunt at the Closing Ceremony, which is set to take place at the Stade de France.

With the next Summer Games set to take place in Los Angeles in 2028, a Hollywood connection is fitting for an Olympic handoff from Paris.

Once Cruise handed off the flag at the LA landmark, a series of athletes brought it to the beach where musical performances continued by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg.

"An original soundtrack, new interpretations, musical performances and the participation of world-renowned singers will complete the picture," Paris organizers said in a statement. "Part of the show will take place in the air, while the giant sets, costumes and spectacular lighting effects will take spectators on a journey through time, both past and future."

At the closing ceremony for the 2024 Olympics , Tom Cruise managed to slip into action while in Paris to complete a death-defying stunt.

The  Mission: Impossible  star, fresh off cheering on the U.S. Women's National Team win gold in soccer, dropped into the Stade de France in Paris from the open ceiling as part of the handoff to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. After securing the Olympic flag from LA Mayor Karen Bass and Simone Biles , he took off on a motorcycle on a trip throughout Paris. All while serenated by a dazzling H.E.R. guitar riff.

But his antics didn’t stop there, as fans also watched as the actor was magically able to zip back over to California and parachute his way down next to the Hollywood sign—thus leading the way for epic performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers , Snoop Dogg , Billie Eilish , and more.

The thrilling stunt served as a fitting end to this year’s Olympic games, considering it was one for the books.

Not only did countless wins and moments make history—such as Katie Ledecky and Simone becoming the two most decorated athletes of all time respectively or when Noah Lyles blew through the track to earn bronze , only to reveal he competed while sick —but there were moments that fans laugh, wince and of course, downright cry .

Like the athletes who took the golden opportunity to pop the question of a lifetime , or the stars who’ve shared just how much the Games meant to not only them, but to their families as well .

It’s a feeling of completion that almost every athlete feels after such a life-changing event, as Simone previously shared.

“The Olympics is such a draining process for the athletes when it’s multiple days of competition,” she told Olympics.com in early August , “you definitely have to be on top of your mental, as well as your physical. So as long as we’re doing that, then, we’re good.”

El propio Cruise reconoció hace un año que esas escenas eran sin lugar a dudas «la cosa más peligrosa que he hecho: hemos estado trabajando en ella durante años. Lo deseaba hacer desde que era niño». Para grabar el salto, el equipo se desplazó hasta Noruega y construyó una gran rampa durante meses, la que el actor luego recorrió con la moto seis veces antes del salto. Paramount habla de «la escena de riesgo más grande en la Historia del cine». El director de la séptima parte de 'Misión Imposible', Christopher McQuarrie , ha asegurado que en la octava entrega habrá una escena todavía más arriesgada.

How Tom Cruise’s Death-Defying Stunt at the 2024 Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony Came Together

It’s hard to top much of what we’ve seen come out of this summer’s Olympic Games . (The gymnastics friendships! The sweet parent-child moments ! The jewelry! ) Yet Sunday’s spectacular closing ceremony—which featured a one-of-a-kind stunt courtesy of Tom Cruise that took executive producer and creative director Ben Winston of Fulwell 73 Productions over a year to put together—was a definite contender for the most exciting moment of Paris 2024.

Shortly after a performance of the national anthem by H.E.R. at the Stade de France, Cruise could be seen rappelling from the roof down to the ground; accepting the Olympic flag from Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass; boarding his motocycle, and riding off into the Parisian night. Then, all at once, he was on a plane, jumping out of said plane, and turning the double Os of the Hollywood sign into the Olympic rings. All the while, the Olympic flag was being handed off to a series of athletes including mountain biker Kate Courtney, former sprinter Michael Johnson, and skateboarder Jagger Eaton.

A day before the ceremony, Vogue spoke to Winston about the Olympic flag’s journey from Paris to Los Angeles; organizing a live (and secret!) beach concert featuring the likes of Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers; and the mind-bending travel schedule Cruise kept in order to close out the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Vogue : I’d love to hear a little about how this video came about.

Ben Winston: We’ve been planning this for a year and a half, and we had this idea that it would be so beautiful if we could take the flag from the Paris stadium and make it travel all the way to Los Angeles and then go live and do something spectacular here. The thing about Paris is that there are so many iconic elements we saw in the opening ceremony, from the Seine to the Eiffel Tower. One of the things LA is best-known for is its beaches, so we thought, what if we could steal that flag, bring it to LA, and do a massive, amazing concept on the beach with all these amazing LA artists? It’s been incredibly exciting.

The first thing we did was pitch Tom, because there’s nobody better to do an incredible stunt. I pitched him on the idea of a stuntman grabbing the flag, coming down from the roof of the Stade de France, and then taking his mask off and you see it’s Tom Cruise, who then jumps out of a plane and lands in LA. Tom said, “I’m in, but I want to do the whole thing,” so it was this huge undertaking of this live stunt with Tom jumping off the roof. We wanted to keep Tom doing this daredevil jump off the roof a surprise, and then cut to this video we’ve been making where Tom gives the flag to these Olympic athletes, who then take us to a massive live concert on the beach with Billie Eilish, Snoop, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Every element took a lot of work!

How does it feel to be so close to seeing your project come to life?

This story will be going up just after it’s happened, so right now I’m still nervous because we’ve got all these elements lined up and it is live TV. But it’s been an amazing coming-together of wonderful people making it happen. I’m so grateful to Tom and to the artists and athletes taking the flag on its journey from Paris to LA.

Did any part of the planning process take you by surprise?

We really wanted to dream big. Once everyone had signed off on the idea, we were confronted with the reality of: How do you do a stunt with Tom Cruise at the Stade de France and then a massive concert on the beach with some of the most famous artists in Los Angeles? That’s been quite nerve-racking, because we aren’t in the safety of a stadium and the audience doesn’t even know what they’re showing up for. We have fencing at the perimeters of the beach, and hopefully by the time people realize what’s going on it will be over. [ Laughs .] The secrecy was tricky and there were lots of leaks, so it was a lot to live with for a year and a half, but I’m feeling very excited and proud.

Were there any LA-centric aspects of this production that you particularly loved as an Angeleno?

When you first arrive in LA, you always look for the Hollywood sign, and one of the coolest things about this was the city giving us permission to film on the sign. Tom being up there six or seven months ago with nobody knowing what he was doing was amazing; I’ve been up there a lot with my team, and sitting in the middle of the Os was a pinch-me moment. Working with all this talent was, as well; the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing “Can’t Stop” over the transition of the flag going from Paris to LA is so cool.

Is there any other BTS detail you can share with us?

Well, I can tell you that Tom was filming Mission: Impossible in London, then got on a plane, flew 11 hours to LA, got off the plane, shot with us, then got right back on the plane and back to set. The commitment from him and the musical artists to keeping the beach aspect a secret was really amazing.

Tom Cruise performs 'epic stunt' at Olympics closing ceremony

The Olympics closing ceremonies have always served as a nice sendoff for one of the world's biggest sporting events. However, this year's formalities had something extra special on display as well: Tom Cruise.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the legendary actor and stuntman would be performing an "epic stunt" as part of the closing ceremonies.

According to reports , Cruise would rappel into Paris' Stade de France , during the closing ceremonies. That would be followed by a pre-recorded video of Cruise skydiving onto the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles. That report is accurate now in hindsight.

Cruise, 62, is known for taking stunts to the next level, and given that Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Olympics , it was assumed that someone representing the city would be in attendance to take the Olympic flag, as is tradition. Here's how the stunt went down live.

The 62-year-old rappelled down from the top of the Stade de France, greeting Olympians after landing safely.

We then witnessed a surprise appearance from Simone Biles at the closing ceremony, playing a part in the passing of the Olympic flag from Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

The two gave the Olympic flag to Cruise who rode a motorcycle in a pre-filmed sequence that ended with the actor soaring above Los Angeles in a skydiving stunt.

Tom Cruise lo ha hecho una vez más. Ahora, con 60 años de edad, el actor ha logrado hacer su escena de riesgo más peligrosa para la nueva entrega de Misión Imposible: Sentencia Mortal.

La escena de riesgo de Tom Cruise consiste en conducir a toda velocidad sobre una moto y volar, con la ayuda de una enorme rampa, sobre un acantilado ubicado en Noruega, para, posteriormente, abrir un paracaídas y lograr un aterrizaje suave en tierra.

Posteriormente, Tom Cruise ensayó la escena en un ambiente simulado, lo que permitió crear modelos en 3D para calcular la trayectoria del actor en cada uno de los saltos. Esto permitió predecir la posición del actor y así colocar drones y cámaras en los lugares exactos para conseguir las tomas correctas. "Si lo hacemos [el salto], pero no lo filmamos bien, ¿cuál es el punto?", dijo Cruise.

Finalmente, al llegar a Noruega, el actor no sólo logró ejecutar correctamente la escena, sino que saltó 6 veces hacia el acantilado durante ese día. De esa forma, esta es la escena de riesgo más peligrosa de Tom Cruise .  

Cabe recordar que el actor ha hecho otras escenas riesgosas casi igual de peligrosas a lo largo de su carrera, casi todas para la serie de películas Misión Imposible.

En años anteriores, el actor ha escalado el edificio más alto del mundo, el “Burj Khalifa” de Dubai por fuera, y también se ha mantenido colgado por fuera de un avión en pleno despegue.

It’s hard to believe that it has already been two weeks since the Paris summer Olympics kicked off with a star-studded opening ceremony, which included breathtaking and dazzling performances from Céline Dion, Lady Gaga and many more incredible moments filled with emotions. Since then, artistic director of Paris 2024 Thomas Jolly and his team had teased a huge closing ceremony at the Stade de France, and it did not disappoint.

The athlete’s parade was a moment of celebration and unity between them and the public. The closing ceremony served as a symbolic link between Paris and the next Olympic Games which will take place in L.A. The French bands Phoenix and Air joined in the celebrations, the French singer Yseult gave a powerful rendition of “My Way”, and Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dog celebrated in Long Beach, California.

However, the name on everyone’s lips tonight was of course, Tom Cruise. The actor attended the opening ceremony on July 26 and was also seen attending a few competitions in the French capital, including the women’s soccer final.

The Hollywood movie star, who has become a master in the art of performing his own mind-blowing and death-defying stunts, was spotted in April riding a motorcycle at night in the streets of Paris, and before that, he was also seen preparing a stunt on the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.

The rumor that Cruise would probably be involved in some way in the closing ceremony was spreading all over the internet last week, and it was quickly confirmed that he would indeed be performing a stunt.

After two hours of celebrations at the Stade de France, the first notes of the Mission: Impossible theme song resonated in the stadium, and Tom Cruise appeared on the roof.

When he landed on the ground, he ran across the athletes and greeted them, before recovering the Olympic flag from U.S gymnast Simone Biles. He then quickly jumped on a motorcycle hidden behind the stage and drove off.

In a pre-recorded segment, we see him riding across the French capital, passing the Eiffel Tower and crossing the Champs-Elysées, getting on a plane and skydiving onto the Hollywood sign to hang the flag to it. The Olympic circles are now one with the legendary Hollywood sign. The actor immediately shared on his social media a photo of himself from the top of the stadium, with a simple, symbolic caption, “Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA”

More than half a year before the release of the upcoming movie “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,” Paramount Pictures made sure audiences got to see Tom Cruise once again risking his life.

Cruise’s mind-blowing stunts have become a signature of “ Mission: Impossible ” films, each one seemingly topping the next. The key stunt in the franchise’s seventh installment involves Cruise driving a motorcycle off the edge of a cliff, dismounting and parachuting into a Norwegian valley. With the drop of its behind-the-scenes footage in December , the studio billed it as “the biggest stunt in cinema history.”

Though the moment has already been watched on YouTube more than 13 million times, and 30 million more times in the film’s trailers, it’s among the film’s most anticipated scenes. After all, we still don’t know how the stunt fits within the plot — What could be so dire that agent Ethan Hunt must jump off a cliff?

While answers won’t come until the movie’s theatrical release July 12, we now know that the risky stunt was the first thing Cruise did on Day 1 of filming, which began in 2020. And it was all about risk assessment.

In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Cruise said they started with the scene, in part, to allow the cast and crew to see whether he would be able to star in the $290-million film. After all, he could either get injured or die — or both.

“Well, we know we’re either going to continue with the film or not,” Cruise said, letting out a laugh. “Let’s know Day 1, what is gonna happen: Do we all continue, or is it a major re-run?”

Cruise added that he wanted to make sure his mind was clear enough to focus solely on the stunt.

“You have to be razor sharp for something like that; I don’t want to drop that and shoot other things and have my mind somewhere else,” Cruise said. “You don’t want to be waking up in the middle of the night, ‘It’s still, I still, I still,’ and it has that effect.”

Cruise is no stranger to aerial stunts with a high probability of death. The “Top Gun” actor said preparing for the recent stunt “was years of planning,” a culmination of all the training he’s done with motorcycles, cars and aerobatics.

In the franchise’s last film, “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” (2018), Cruise jumped into a helicopter in midflight , taking the controls to chase another helicopter. In the same movie, he parachuted from a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III from 25,000 feet, close to five miles up, becoming “the first actor” to do so in a major motion picture, according to Paramount (most skydiving attempts occur at 10,000 feet).

In 2011 for “ Ghost Protocol ,” the “Jerry McGuire” actor climbed along the exposed walls of the world’s largest building, the Burj Khalifa of Dubai. And in 2015 for “Rogue Nation,” Cruise hung off the side of an Airbus A400M Atlas as it was taking off, a stunt that veteran stunt coordinator and frequent Cruise collaborator Wade Eastwood called “a stressful experience.”

The recent motorcycle stunt, which Cruise had apparently repeated six times, was no exception. Though the film’s computer-generated images make Cruise appear to be jumping off the rocky surface of the cliff, the scene required a large ramp to be built.

While Cruise is seen atop the motorcycle in the behind-the-scenes video, accelerating off the ramp, a helicopter and drone fly overhead to gather footage. The film’s crew, including director Christopher McQuarrie, are huddled in a nearby tent, faces glued to a set of monitors. After he abandons the bike and hangs in the open air, Cruise releases his parachute and the crew erupts in cheers.

“The only thing you have to avoid when doing a stunt like this are serious injury or death,” Eastwood, who has managed stunts for the last three “Mission Impossible” films, said in the BTS video. “You’re falling. If you don’t get a clean exit from the bike and you get tangled up with it, if you don’t open your parachute, you’re not gonna make it.”

The scene wasn’t the only stressful one to shoot: Cruise said he also worried about a car chase that involved him handcuffed to a small car, steering with one hand while drifting along the cobblestone streets of Rome, with his co-star Hayley Atwell in the passenger seat.

“It’s plenty of challenges,” Cruise said with a wide grin, laughing once again.

“Dead Reckoning” had its world premiere Sunday at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome with Cruise and other cast members, including Atwell and Vanessa Kirby , in attendance. “Part Two” is expected to be released in June 2024. Filming wrapped in September for what has been rumored to be Cruise’s final appearance in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise.

Ya no solo por el riesgo a quedarse sin protagonista en mitad del rodaje, Cruise también ha añadido que no quería "rodar otras cosas y tener mi mente en otro lado" refiriéndose a esta escena, por lo que, era muy importante asegurarse de que "cuando estábamos preparando la película, esto fuese realmente lo primero" . El actor ha recalcado que es muy importante estar mentalizado y preparado para hacer escenas como estas, ya que "tienes que ser muy agudo cuando haces algo así".

Aunque no tan extremas como esta, la película que se estrena el próximo 12 de julio esconde muchas más escenas peligrosas, como una persecución de más de 20 minutos con Cruise y Hayley Atwell esposados, o una pelea encima de un tren en movimiento.

There’s something special about that motorcycle tom cruise rode at the olympics.

Eagle-eyed viewers of yesterday’s Olympics closing ceremony might have noticed something different about the motorcycle Tom Cruise rode out of the stadium, through the streets of Paris, and up into a waiting cargo plane.

Of course, none of those feats sound out of place for the actor that many consider to be the last great action film star.

Tom Cruise has long been at home riding two-wheelers on the big screen, whether it’s drag racing an F-14 down the runway or any number of high-adrenaline chase scenes.

But after rappelling down from the roof of Paris’ Stade de France in front of over 70,000 spectators and taking possession of the Olympic flag, the motorcycle he affixed it to and rode through the stadium and out onto the streets wasn’t one of the classics we’ve long seen him ride. Instead, it was a LiveWire Del Mar , an American-made electric motorcycle produced by Harley-Davidson’s electric spin-off company LiveWire.

The action-packed cruise through nighttime Paris culminated in Cruise riding up the rear ramp of a waiting cargo plane before jetting off to Los Angeles, electric motorcycle and all, setting the stage for the City of Angels to host the 2028 Summer Olympics. But unlike all of Cruise’s former legendary motorcycle scenes, this one was completely devoid of loud exhaust and revving engine sound effects.

Sure, like any good Hollywood production, the sound effects were there. But this time, they were the high-revving sound of an actual electric motor, giving a true-to-form representation of how such electric motorcycles actually sound.

How do I know? Because I happen to own that very model , picking up a LiveWire Del Mar last year. And while I haven’t had the chance to ride it with a giant flag flapping off the tail (something I’ve done more than once , just not on that bike), I can attest that they did the bike justice with the proper motor sounds – something Hollywood often screws up when it comes to EVs.

Electric motorcycles have occasionally graced the silver screen, such as when Scarlet Johansson’s character Black Widow rode an original Project LiveWire electric motorcycle in the film Avengers: Age of Ultron. But live performances seem to be adopting electric motorcycles more quickly than major Hollywood productions.

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris was only the most recent example, but e-motos have become a growing trend finding favor at live performances due to their lower noise and lack of emissions.

The singer Lana Del Rey recently made an impressive entrance at Coachella, as she and her background dancers rolled in riding pillion on a fleet of Ryvid electric motorcycles. In addition to not sending clouds of exhaust into the awaiting crowd on either side of the bikes, or overpowering the performance with exhaust noise, the clutch-less electric motorcycles could be operated extra slowly, making it easier to focus on the tricky task of balancing a standing passenger on back at slow speeds. And the last thing any rider wants to do is drop a world-famous singer in front of all of Coachella.

Hollywood motorcycle scenes are still dominated by traditional gassers, but live performances are quickly adopting more electric motorcycles. And as Tom Cruise has shown us, Hollywood may be taking notice.

Misión Imposible: Sentencia Mortal saltó a los titulares hace un año, cuando su director reveló en una entrevista en Empire que la peligrosa escena de la motocicleta, considerada la más arriesgada que Tom Cruise ha realizado en su carrera , se realizó el primer día de rodaje de la película.

By all accounts, the 2024 Summer Olympics was a fantastic spectacle, loaded with stunning feats of athleticism and unforgettable moments. Naturally, the event concluded in epic fashion, as Tom Cruise rappelled into the Stade de France, retrieved the Olympic flag from Simone Biles, rode a motorcycle out of the arena and — in a pre-recorded segment, skydived down to the Hollywood sign to hand the Games over to Los Angeles, which will host the next edition in 2028.

If the word sounds familiar, it’s probably because, in addition to being a catchy AC/DC ditty, it carries some Harley history. LiveWire was the name of the brand’s initial foray into the electric space, way back in 2019.

Eagle-eyed viewers and motorcycle geeks may have noticed something unusual about the bike Cruise rode, however: It had no clutch lever. That’s because this particular moto was what remains a relative rarity in the industry — an electric bike. More specifically, it was a LiveWire S2 Del Mar , one of a few options offered by the Wisconsin/California-based Harley-Davidson offshoot.

Dialing in on the Del Mar

If the first word in that product’s name sounds familiar, it’s probably because, in addition to being a catchy AC/DC ditty , it carries some Harley history. That’s right, LiveWire was the name of the brand’s initial foray into the electric space, way back in 2019.

While that bike launched to mixed reviews — in large part because a lot of hardcore Harley heads couldn’t stomach the very notion of a clutch- and petrol-free bike — H-D has continued to invest in the technology.

A few years back, Harley spun the electric division off into its own company, and in the fall of 2022, LiveWire became the first publicly traded electric motorcycle company in the United States.

These days, the brand offers three bikes: the flagship $22,799 LiveWire ONE , the performance-cruising, $15,999 LiveWire S2 Mulholland and the urban-oriented, $15,499 Del Mar, launched in 2022. The first bike built on the brand’s modular, scalable ARROW platform, the Del Mar boasts 194 ft-lb of torque, a city range of 113 miles and a 0-60 time that sounds insane but is not uncommon for electric motos: 3 seconds.

Packing 84 horsepower and 10.5 kilowatt hours of energy, the Del Mar can hit 103 miles per hour. Carrying a running weight of 436 pounds and a seat height of 32.2 inches, it offers both Level 1 and Level 2 charging, with the latter method capable of charging it from 20 to 80 percent in 78 minutes.

Cruise control

The actor himself is of course no stranger to riding motorcycles in a theatrical manner . Among a number of other cinematic sequences , he memorably fired up a Kawasaki GPz900R in 1986’s Top Gun and took Cameron Diaz for a ride on a Ducati Hypermotard in 2010’s Knight .

Later, in perhaps the greatest moto movie stunt ever (one inspired by 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me ), he launched a Honda CRF250 off a cliff before deploying a parachute in last year’s Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Pt 1 . Tom Cruise began the shift from the 2024 Paris Games to the 2028 Los Angeles Games by leaping off the Stade de France in the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Cruise appeared at the top of the stadium after singer H.E.R. performed the American national anthem. The actor looked at the camera, then jumped off with a harness attached to his body and descended slowly to the ground.

Of course, Cruise then parachuted out of the aircraft, this time landing in Los Angeles. He made his way up to the Hollywood sign, attaching the Olympic rings to it, and handed the Olympic flag off to cyclist Kate Courtney.

The handover ceremony continued with performances in Los Angeles from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

La escena donde Tom Cruise salta al vació y deja caer una Honda CFR por un acantilado se preparó por un año.

Hace unos días se estrenó la esperada Misión Imposible 7: Sentencia Mortal. El filme que vio retrasar su llegada a los cines por la pandemia se ha convertido en uno de los favoritos por los espectadores debido a adrenalina y los altos niveles de acción.

Pero sin el deseo de spoilear, hay un momento clave en la película, donde se ve a Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) ir a toda velocidad en una moto a través de un bosque para llegar a un acantilado, donde no le queda más alternativa que saltar del vehículo. Y lo que parece una muerte segura, es solucionado por el agente que, como Niolás Massú, no conoce la palabra imposible.

La escena podría ser una más dentro de las siete ediciones que suma la franquicia que debutó hace 27 años (y con un Tom Cruise que parece casi de la misma edad), sin embargo, se ha convertido en una grabación que algunos consideran “la más peligrosa del cine” y que fue filmada por el mismo actor, sin recurrir a dobles de riesgo.

La historia de esa escena es una película propia. Hubo un trabajo descomunal que se extendió por más de un año para que todo saliera a la perfección.

Si bien la magia del salto ocurrió en Noruega, gran parte de la preparación se hizo en Inglaterra, donde el equipo de producción construyó una pista de motocross para que Tom Cruise ensayara el salto.

Los detalles son los que marcan diferencias. Y el actor es reconocido por su atrevimiento, pero también por lo perfeccionista, mal que mal, tampoco quiere terminar con su rostro en la sección de los actores que nos dejaron este año.

Es por eso que los ensayos fueron constantes y se llegó, según cuenta la producción, a 13 mil saltos a más de 20 metros de altura, donde además el protagonista de Top Gun iba acompañado de cámaras y drones que iban registrando sus movimientos.

La idea de Cruise con los ensayos no era mostrarse como un súper hombre o como una persona sin temor a nada. Por el contrario, Miles Daisher, el entrenador de salto base de la producción, dijo que el actor “es el hombre más consciente que he conocido”.

Ahora, si pensaban que esa era la única “precaución” que debía tomar Cruise, están muy errados y claramente aún no ven la película.

Tras el salto, Ethan Hunt debe ser capaz de aterrizar sin daños en su humanidad. Para eso, debía accionar un paracaídas cuando estuviese en el aire.

Esa acción que dura un par de segundos tuvo al actor entrenado por más de un año, realizando hasta 30 saltos diarios desde un avión que preparó la producción. Sin duda, los más sorprendidos eran las personas del equipo, quienes veían como Tom Cruise no paraba hasta considerar que había avances, sin quejarse por las veces que hubiese que volver a intentar.

Así se llegó al set en Noruega, específicamente en la montaña Helsetkopen. En el lugar se instaló una larga rampa por donde el actor iría en la moto antes de caer al vacío.

Para la escena se practicó con la medida real de la rampa, ensayos que sirvieron para saber la velocidad exacta a la que ir y la distancia que debía recorrer Cruise. Y para el director, era el momento de ver la trayectoria del salto y así saber dónde ubicar la cámara y cuántas usar.

La preparación para la escena del salto en la moto había sido exhaustiva. Atrás quedaban meses de ensayo, pero los nervios se sentían en el set.

Y según informan diversos medios, cuando el director grita “¡acción!”, deja de ver el monitor y mira el panorama completo con el enorme acantilado, esperando que se abriera el paracaídas.

“Veo un paracaídas, un paracaídas”, dijo una persona de la producción y todo empezó a relajarse poco a poco. Se había filmado la escena y cayeron los aplausos.

Tom Cruise, ya más tranquilo, aplaudió de vuelta y agradeció diciendo “para ustedes chicos”.

Parecía que ya se podía avanzar en la filmación, pero eso no habría sido algo de un agente secreto. “Creo que puedo sujetar la moto un poco más”, dijo Cruise y volvieron a filmar por cinco veces más. Sin duda una gran jornada para el actor que se lanzó seis veces a un acantilado.

Pese a que algunos podrían pensar lo inverso, esta escena fue la primera que se filmó. La explicación la dio el director de la película, Christopher McQuarrie, quien señaló en la revista Esquire que “hacer eso el primer día nos dio todo el tiempo del mundo para entender por qué Ethan estaba haciendo lo que estaba haciendo”. De paso, le mostraba a todos que los riesgos de Ethan Hunt también los asumía Tom Cruise.

El actor también entregó su versión de esta escena. “Me estaba entrenando y estaba preparado. Tienes que estar muy listo cuando haces algo así. Mientras preparábamos la película, era muy importante que fuera lo primero. No quiero dejarlo e irme a rodar otras cosas con la mente en otro sitio”, comentó el rostro más importante de la Cienciología.

Tras la escena del salto, el rodaje continúo en Italia (Roma, Venecia y el Lago Como) y Emiratos Árabes Unidos (el desierto de Liwa y el aeropuerto Midfield de Abu Dabi).

Así es que ya sabes, si aún no ves la película, cuando te instales a mirarla podrás ver de otra manera el momento que pudo ser la sentencia mortal en Misión Imposible 7.

Tom Cruise went on a mission to close out the Paris Olympics with a bang.

After Paris handed off the Olympics flag to Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass, Mission: Impossible front man Cruise jumped from the top of the Stad de France to join the celebration. Once on the ground, he greeted Team USA gymnast Simone Biles and grabbed the flag, before mounting it on the back of a motorcycle and exiting the stadium.

After Cruise’s stunt, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg each took the stage.

Earlier during the ceremony, French indie band Phoenix performed hits like “Lisztomania” and “1901”; Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig made a special appearance, and H.E.R. performed the national anthem.

The star-studded line-up provided a theatrical end to the Paris games, which opened on July 26 with Celine Dion making her first televised performance since announcing her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome nearly two years ago, and Lady Gaga delivering an over-the-top rendition of Zizi Jeanmaire’s “Mon Truc en Plumes.”

He’s tough to watch anymore, and to the extent he fancies himself as aging like Harrison Ford, well, he hasn’t. The chances of someone his age IRL being in the field as a covert ops type of person is pretty unrealistic.

Una de las secuencias más populares de Misión Imposible: Sentencia mortal - Parte 1 desde que pudimos ver sus primeras imágenes fue aquella en la que Tom Cruise , en la piel de Ethan Hunt , se lanzaba por un acantilado mientras conducía una moto a toda velocidad. 

En la secuencia, Ethan Hunt se salvaba abriendo su paracaídas hasta llegar a un lugar seguro, pero la motocicleta caía al vacío mientras desaparecía del campo de visión. Una complicada coreografía que puso a prueba tanto al propio intérprete como al equipo técnico de la cinta.

Como era de esperar, la motocicleta no salió bien parada, y en las imágenes compartidas podemos ver cómo un helicóptero tuvo que rescatar los restos de la moto que acabó despeñada y rota en varios pedazos, que a su vez fueron recogidos manualmente.

El actor ha explicado cómo tuvo que prepararse y ejecutar la secuencia en la que están involucrados un acantilado y una moto.

Misión Imposible 7 , la séptima entrega de la saga protagonizada por Tom Cruise  como Ethan Hunt , se estrena en España el 27 de mayo de 2022 . "Si el viento era demasiado fuerte, me sacaría de la rampa" , explica el propio Cruise en Empire . El actor reconoce que estuvo meses entrenando para conseguir llevar a cabo la escena. "El helicóptero [que rodaba el momento] fue un problema porque no quería bajar por esa rampa a toda velocidad y ser golpeado por una piedra", añade. "O si salía de una forma extraña, no sabíamos qué iba a pasar con la moto. Tuve unos seis segundos una vez que salí de la rampa para abrir el paracaídas y no quería enredarme en la moto ", concluye. 

La escena salió según lo esperado, pero no es la única vez que Cruise ha puesto en riesgo su vida en el rodaje de alguna de las entregas de la saga. En Misión: Imposible - Fallout , la sexta película de la franquicia, el actor llevó a cabo un salto ‘halo’ . En Misión Imposible: Nación secreta , Cruise se agarró a la parte exterior de un avión en pleno despegue . Tom Cruise va a superar lo de la moto y el acantilado de Misión Imposible 7 en su segunda parte

Tom Cruise ha escalado el edificio más alto del mundo, se ha tirado en moto por un acantilado , ha saltado de un edificio a otro y se ha subido a un avión en pleno despegue… Y todo eso solo en las cintas de Misión: Imposible . ¿Qué más puede hacer ya? Pues quedan cosas todavía.

El actor ha estado grabando la segunda parte de Sentencia Mortal (la primera se estrena este próximo 14 de julio), y según lo revelado por Bob Bakish, el CEO de Paramount, nos espera otra escena bestial por parte de su protagonista.

De acuerdo con lo reportado por Deadlin e, Bakish dijo en la Conferencia de Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom, Tom Cruise ha grabado una secuencia en la que no solo se encuentra sobre un avión en pleno vuelo , sino que además camina sobre él. La verdad es que no debería sorprendernos.

De momento no hay imágenes, aunque seguro que como hicieron con lo de la moto, crearán un video especial explicando cómo lograron filmar semejante escena . No obstante, lo que sí pudimos ver hace unos meses fue a Cruise subido a un avión, fuera del asiento, sin arnés y hablando a cámara como haría cualquiera, claro. ¡Ah! Y después se tiró en paracaídas y siguió dando las gracias a los fans. Lo típico.

Además, Christopher McQuarrie, el director de las películas, compartió también una foto en la que se llega a ver de lejos al actor subiendo por el aeroplano y otra que parece del protagonista de Top Gun en el aire y sobre la costa como si nada.

No sabemos cuándo podremos ver la secuencia completa, si es que deciden compartirla con el público antes del estreno de** ** ** Misión: Imposible - Sentencia Mortal ** Parte 2 , que tendrá lugar el 28 de junio de 2024. Lo que sí tenemos claro es que dejará a todo el mundo con la boca abierta y preguntándose una vez más cómo es posible que haga todas esas cosas sin dobles ni pantallas verdes.

Pero no creas que será lo último , porque Cruise también está preparando una película en el espacio . Lo próximo será rodar en Marte, lo vemos venir.

Cómo se filmó Tom Cruise la impresionante escena del salto en moto de Misión Imposible 7

Aún falta más de un año para la llegada de la nueva entrega de la saga, pero el primer adelanto ya dejó a los fanáticos entusiasmados y con ganas de más. En especial con mucha adrenalina después de una de las escenas más arriesgadas de la franquicia.

El equipo está de regreso para una nueva y arriesgada misión

En las últimas horas se conoció el primer avance de Misión Imposible 7 , una de las entregas que promete ponerle fin a la saga de acción con una doble entrada que veremos en los próximos años. La primera, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning , anticipa el principio del fin en una nota épica plagada de acción y con escenas de alto riesgo, en donde Tom Cruise sigue empujando los límites de su lado más temerario.

El primer adelanto no decepciona y muestra lo suficiente para dejar a los fanáticos sin aliento y con ganas de más. Especialmente los últimos segundos del trailer en donde el personaje de Ethan Hunt se lanza por un precipicio montado en una moto, como si no hubiese límites a la hora de cumplir con una misión.

En cada nueva entrega de Misión Imposible , Cruise se desafía a sí mismo (y al estudio) a practicar escenas y acrobacias más arriesgadas. Es por eso que a medida que la saga se acerca a su fin, esperaremos lo imposible por parte del actor de 59 años .

Ya en Misión imposible: repercusión (Mission: Impossible - Fallout), el intérprete se lanzó a volar un helicóptero entre las montañas, haciendo arriesgadas maniobras. Asimismo aprendió a realizar el salto HALO, un salto en caída libre en donde el paracaidista abre el paracaídas a baja altitud.

Dedicado a su arte como ningún otro actor, Cruise y el director Christopher McQuarrie decidieron llevar las cosas un poco más lejos esta vez . Como ya dijimos, el avance muestra al personaje de Cruise lanzarse por acantilado arriba de una moto y dejándose caer al vacío.

Pero además de lo arriesgada de la escena , requirió un gran trabajo del equipo de detrás de cámara para lograr captar semejante secuencia. Por su parte, el actor tuvo que entrenar gran cantidad de horas a bordo arriba de la moto. Su preparación incluyó realizar más de 13.000 saltos de motocross y más de 500 saltos en paracaídas.

Por el lado del equipo de filmación , captaron de forma digital cada una de las prácticas de Cruise a través de un dispositivo GPS y así poder considerar todas las variables como el viento y la velocidad. De esa forma lograron descifrar la mejor alternativa para poder filmar el salto y así evitar que el actor corriera algún tipo de riesgo durante la toma.

Con una gran sonrisa en la cara, Tom Cruis e se ha lanzado al vacío desde un avión y ha querido felicitar a sus seguidores la Navidad de una manera algo diferente, aunque sí muy especial: "No quería que terminara el año sin agradecerles a todos por ir a los cines y gracias por apoyar a 'Top Gun: Maverick'".

¡De locos! Tom Cruise salta en moto por un fiordo, a pelo…

En el rodaje de la nueva película de Misión: Imposible 7, el actor norteamericano sigue haciendo sus pinitos en moto, y es que Tom Cruise salta en moto en un fiordo al vacío…

Ya sabemos que Cruise es motero y que todas las escenas de acción en moto las realiza él mismo.  Así, en todas las películas de Misión: Imposible, dando vida al agente Ethan Hunt, donde hay una escena en moto, ahí está él, sin dobles.

Lo recordamos en 2015 sobre una BMW S 1000 RR y una BMW R nineT en MI 6 de 2017, en una Hypermotard -que era una Aprilia modificada- en “Noche y día ” y también sobre una moto de MX modificada en “Oblivion” , por ejemplo.

Pues bien, en la última película de MI, Dead Reckoning, el reto es aún mayor, porque el norteamericano debe saltar en moto por un fiordo de Noruega…

Sí, lo habéis leído bien, se lanza en moto al vacío, en un acantilado de la península escandinava , y rodando con una moto a todo gas por una rampa…

La moto en cuestión es una Honda CRF250R 2019 -se utilizaron unas cuantas en el rodaje-, y Cruise debe lanzarse a todo gas por una rampa y saltar al vacío.

Y lo hace a pelo, sin casco, sin red salvavidas, sin cable de seguridad… Solo un paracaídas que Cruise debe activar en el momento preciso, cuando la moto ya está separada de él, y a bastante distancia del suelo, claro… ¡Con un par, Tom!

Tom Cruise salta en moto por un fiordo noruego... ¡De locos!

Pero no se hizo a lo loco, sino que, evidentemente, se planificó absolutamente todo. Y es que el director de la cinta, Christopher McQuarrie , no quería sorpresas…

Antes de construir la rampa se realizaron simulaciones en ordenador para calcular su ángulo de inclinación, y la mejor opción fueron 20º, para que moto y piloto tuviesen tiempo de separarse y con la máxima seguridad.

Una vez calculado se construyó la rampa en lo alto de un inaccesible fiordo noruego , y es que todos los materiales se llevaron en helicóptero.

Al mismo tiempo Cruise se entrenaba en un pequeño circuito de motocross, creado ex profeso para ello , donde realizó nada menos que ¡13.000 saltos con la CRF!

Para completar el entrenamiento el actor también realizó 500 saltos en paracaídas desde un helicóptero , todo ello asesorado siempre por un experto.

Los primeros saltos no se efectuaron en el acantilado sino en una rampa “en tierra” , con cables de seguridad y con una piscina de goma espuma, para recuperar la moto “y piloto” si algo fallaba.

Cuando todo estuvo a punto comenzaron los saltos al vacío de verdad , en el acantilado, solo con paracaídas. Para las tomas Cruise saltó en un mismo día 5 veces… ¡De locos! Nada mal para una persona que ya pasa de los 60...

El resultado no puede ser más espectacular. Aquí no hay ordenador, ni escenas falsas… Todo lo que ves es de verdad, como se hacía antaño. Tom es un actor de los que ya no quedan. Y esto es solo la primera parte, ya que la película tiene su segunda parte en MI 8 donde prometen aún más locuras...

La filmación se realizó en 2020, en plena pandemia, y la película se espera que se estrene este próximo 2023. ¡Será cuestión de no perdérsela!
