Gupt Godavari

Some 17 km from Chitrakoot, there is located another revered sacred site – Gupt Godavari. It is a set of two caves with water till knee-high level. According to the folklore, Gupt Godavari is the place where Lord Rama and Laxman stayed for some time during their exile period. Hanuman Dhara

Allahabad Airport serves the nearest airhead from Chitrakoot which is located at a distance of 119 km. Chitrakoot Dham is a holy town and a popular pilgrimage destination located on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in India. The district, which covers an area of 3,164 sq km, is divided between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, with the latter part falling under the Satna district. Chitrakoot is known for its religious, cultural, and historical significance, and is particularly associated with the legend of Lord Ram. It is believed that Lord Ram, his wife Sita, and his brother Laxman spent 11 years and 6 months in Chitrakoot in a cave called the Gupt Godavari during their exile.
