Travel news: Chan Brothers Group expands in Malaysia and China

SINGAPORE – Chan Brothers Group of Companies has expanded its franchise outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Chengdu to tap growing tourism demand there.

The home-grown company, which started as Chan Brothers Travel in 1965, has increased its manpower and infrastructure in both the Malaysian and Chinese markets to target travellers from these regions. 

Mr Anthony Chan, managing director of Chan Brothers Group of Companies, says: “We are positioning ourselves to provide tailored solutions, leveraging our physical presence in these pivotal locations to gain deep insights into the local business dynamics.” 

Chan’s World Leisurelink, a franchise located in Kuala Lumpur, now includes office and retail facilities in Fraser Business Park. The company has grown from a team of three in 2022 to 50 employees currently.

First Impression of Lugu Lake -Nv Er Guo,Woman’s Kingdom( 泸 沽 湖 女 儿 国 )<br />

Lugu Lake is located between Ninglang County in Yunnan Province and Yanyuan County in Sichuan Province. It is like a beautiful<br />

pearl shining among the hills of the northwest plateau in Yunnan. Mystery and charm surround the lake, partly because it was once an<br />

unspoiled place and still retains much of its totally natural beauty, but mostly because the Mosuo people who live there form a<br />

matriarchal society. There is no marriage. Men stay in the women's home as mates called 'Axia' and the intimate relationship lasts as<br />

long as they like. Children are brought up by women, and use the surname of their mothers. Families are composed of the members of<br />

the matrilineal kin. Women operate production and management, and hold the principal position in the society, forming a modern day<br />

'woman's kingdom', which adds mystique to this place. The most interesting part of the lake is, the people in the villages are still living<br />

in the maternal families which mean they do not marry. Visiting marriage represents the main marriage system of Lugu Lake’s Mosuo<br />

people. There are only mothers. There is no concept of father. It should be the last matriarchal culture in the world.<br />

After breakfast, we will coach to Dali, and will explore the China's largest dinosaur excavation site – “the Dinosaur Valley” at your own<br />

expense. You can see the largest dinosaur fossils and its excavating site. Upon arrival in Dali, we will see the Pearl Square in the new<br />

city. Next, we will appreciate the beautiful scenic of the Er’hai Lake at the Er’hai Park before we tour the Dali Ancient City that has<br />

more than 600 years of history. The ancient city has attracted lots of foreigners from different countries, hence has form the famous<br />

“Foreigners Street”.<br />

DAY 3 DALI – LIJIANG (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)<br />

After breakfast, we will visit the Dali Tianlongbabu movie filming city which is located at the Cang’er scenic area. It is the filming site<br />

for the serial show “Tianlongbabu”. Thereafter, we will be able to see the Dali Three Pagodas from far before we arrived in Xizhou<br />

residence to taste the Dali 3 cups of tea and the renowned Bai songs and dances show. After lunch, we will coach to the next city<br />

– Lijiang. We will have a night tour on one of China’s charming town – the Shuhe Tea-horse Ancient Town. It is a must pass through<br />

route for the Southern Silk road in the past.<br />

DAY 4 LIJIANG – LUGU LAKE (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)<br />

After breakfast, proceed to Ninglang’s pristine Lugu Lake. Lugu Lake is surrounded by high mountains with rich resources and fresh<br />

air, and beautiful scenery. The Lugu Lake is treated as “Mother Lake” by the local people. The shape of the lake is beautiful and the<br />

surrounding mountains look like fairies. The lakeshore is winding stretch gracefully. The Lugu Lake has rich culture custom and you<br />

could learn more about Mosuo people, especially their walking marriage( 走 婚 ) and matriarchal system with elderly women as the<br />

heads of families. Cruise along the picturesque Liwubi Island.<br />

Remarks:<br />

1. Lugu Lake is a new tourist development area and the only restaurant in Ninglang where the facilities and amenities are basic<br />

and only equivalent to 3 star standards,<br />

2.Hotel Breakfast choice is limited and in local Chinese style.Please bear with the situation and we seek your kind understanding.<br />

3. Kindly respect the Mosuo people’s marriage culture and do not mention it in front of them.<br />

DAY 5 LUGU LAKE - LIJIANG (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)<br />

After breakfast, head to Lige village to have a panorama view of the gorgeous Lugu lake. Thereafter, head to Lijiang we will tour the<br />

well preserved Lijiang Ancient Town that has its unique characteristic of rivers and bridges everywhere in the town. We will also see<br />

the Ancient Town Square and may escalate to the Lion Hill for a Panorama eye’s view of the Lijiang Ancient Town.<br />

DAY 6 LIJIANG (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)<br />

After breakfast, we will visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area where you will see the White Water River that has<br />

extremely clear water with snowmelt from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, thus how it got its name. At the shallow areas, the water is<br />

sea-like blue, thus got its name Blue Moon Valley. You may also have a breathtaking view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from<br />

here. Thereafter, you will watch the ecological stage performance directed by the renowned China director, Zhang Yimou – the<br />

“Impression of Lijiang”*. Next, we will tour the Jade Water Village Scenic Area which is the core of Naxi culture. It’s a perfect fusion<br />

to the natural scenic landscape and the ancient Dongba Culture. Continue, we will visit the Black Dragon Pool Park where its lake is<br />

clearly visible and also known as "Jade Spring”.<br />

DAY 7 LIJIANG – SHANGRI-LA (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)<br />

After breakfast, we will coach to the mysterious Zhongdian, Shangri-La. Along the way you will see the First bend of the famous<br />

Yangtze River. It’s the longest river in both China and Asia, and the world's third longest. It flows through the upstream of Jinsha River<br />

and had a sudden turn of 180 degrees at the Shiku Town hence forming the first bend of the Yangtze River. Upon arrival in Shangrila,<br />

we will escalate the Shangrila Shika Snow Mountain by cable car*. The word “Shika” mean a mountain with horses and deer in<br />

Tibetan and also means Longevity and Eliminate Evils. It’s the first mountain in the Tibetan area with an altitude of 4449m. Thereafter,<br />

we will visit the Dukezong Ancient Town which means “Sun and Moon city” in Tibetan. It’s one of the most well preserved ancient<br />

towns with the largest group of Tibetan lives here. It’s also the hub for the Tea-horse ancient way and you will also see the world<br />

largest Tibetan Wheel. At night you may watch the fantastic show at your own expenses.<br />

*In the event that unable to visit the Shika Snow Mountain, it will be replace by the Pudacuo National Park (include tram rides): Pudacuo National Park<br />

with the mirror-like alpine lakes – Bida Lake and Shudu Lake, abundant of water beauty grass pasture, wetlands, flowers blooming, and fascinating<br />

beautiful scene.<br />

DAY 8 SHANGRI-LA KUNMING (Breakfast/Lunch/ Dinner – Mushroom Steamboat at own expense)<br />

After breakfast, we will back to Kunming via domestic flight. Upon arrival Kunming, visit the Stone Forest Scenic Area (inclusive of<br />

tram ride). The Stone Forest was made up of limestone karst, the crustal rock when through erosion over many years, and with<br />

countless of pinnacle, columns, and stalagmites, stone buds formation. It was known as “Wonders of the World”. Thereafter, we will<br />

travel back to Kunming and will visit the Colorful Yunnan along the way.<br />

DAY 9 KUNMING SINGAPORE<br />

After breakfast, visit Flower market, transfer to airport for our flight back to Singapore.<br />
