Travelers can also snag up to $600 in premium drinks on select sailings.

virgin voyages sale

Virgin Voyages is celebrating the end of summer with a sale that has up to $500 off cruises around the world.

The sale, which must be booked by 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 22, is available for eligible cruises through April 30, 2024, according to Virgin Voyages . Travelers can receive up to $400 off Caribbean voyages in 2023 or up to $500 off Caribbean or Australian voyages into 2024.

“As August marks our last full month of summer, extend your sun-drenched days on a new fall sailing in the Caribbean, or start planning to swap the upcoming chilly weather for a chill winter getaway from Miami (or San Juan!) with up to $500 off,” Virgin Voyages wrote in a statement.

In addition, travelers can snag $600 in premium drinks per cabin on sailings that are 7 nights or longer, or $300 in premium drinks per cabin on shorter journeys.

Travelers who book at least 180 days in advance can also save 10 percent off the cost of the cruise. And if they pay in full, they’ll receive an additional 10 percent off.

Virgin Voyages is also waiving single supplements through Aug. 22 for cabins in the Sea Terrace category. That offer is available for Mediterranean sailings departing by Oct. 22.

Virgin Voyages , which was recently named the best mega ship ocean cruise line by Travel + Leisure readers, first launched in 2021 with its debut ship, the Scarlet Lady . The company then expanded with its second ship, the Valiant Lady , before adding a third ship this year, the Resilient Lady .

The adults-only cruise line isn’t all-inclusive, but does include a lot of complimentary amenities that other companies charge for like onboard gratuities, Wi-Fi, group fitness classes, and all of the ship’s restaurants.

Last year, Virgin partnered with Jennifer Lopez , naming her the chief entertainment and lifestyle officer and adding her JLo Beauty products on board.

Amazing deal alert: Get an 8-night cruise for 2 people for just 100,000 points

Gene Sloan

Got 100,000 points to burn in the Virgin Red loyalty program? If you act fast, you can snag an eight-night Caribbean cruise out of Miami that normally costs around $3,400 or more for two people traveling together.

You also can get a five-night cruise for two out of Miami that normally costs around $2,300 or more for 80,000 points. In addition, a seven-night cruise for two in the Mediterranean is available for just 100,000 points.

The limited-time offer is available for Virgin Voyages sailings departing now through June 30.

For more cruise news, guides and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

For your points, you'll get accommodations for two on Virgin Voyages ' Miami-based Scarlet Lady or Barcelona-based Valiant Lady in a Sea Terrace cabin — Virgin's fancy way of saying a cabin with a private balcony. That's a big upgrade from the ship's entry-level Insider cabins, which are in the interior of the ship and don't have windows. It's also a step up from the vessel's window-but-no-balcony Sea View cabins.

You'll also get all your meals included, as well as free onboard Wi-Fi, gratuities and entrance to all onboard shows.

Sea Terrace cabins on eight-night sailings out of Miami between now and June start at around $3,400 for two, including taxes and fees. Some departures over popular weeks start at even higher prices.

TPG values Virgin points at 1.5 cents each, so by our estimate, 100,000 points would be the equivalent of $1,500. That makes this a very good deal, as you're essentially getting the cruise for less than half the normal price.

Sea Terrace cabins on five-night sailings out of Miami between now and June start at around $2,300 for two, including taxes and fees. And that's for a handful of the least expensive departures. Many five-night departures start at higher rates.

At TPG valuations, the 80,000 points needed for such sailings would be the equivalent of $1,200 — nearly half the cost of paying with cash.

Sea Terrace cabins on seven-night Mediterranean sailings out of Barcelona between now and June start at around $2,800 for two, including taxes and fees. At TPG valuations, the 100,000 points needed for such sailings would be the equivalent of $1,500 — nearly half the cost of paying with cash.

Itineraries available as part of the promotion include:

  • Eight-night Eastern Antilles sailings from Miami to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Croix; and Bimini, Bahamas.
  • Seven-night The Irresistable Med sailings from Barcelona to Toulon, France; Carrara, Italy; Ajaccio, Corsica; and Ibiza, Spain.
  • Five-night Riviera Maya sailings from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico, and Bimini.

Don't have enough Virgin points to book the offer — or any at all? You can still get in on this deal by using points from one of several major credit card programs. You can transfer points to the Virgin Red program from the American Express Membership Rewards , Bilt Rewards , Capital One , Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi ThankYou programs.

To take advantage of the offer, you first must head to the Virgin Red app and tap "redeem" where you see it promoted. This will deduct the necessary points from your Virgin Red account. A member of the Virgin Red team will then email you an access key within 48 hours that you will use to book a cabin using the points at the Virgin Voyages website.

Among caveats to the offer:

  • There are a limited number of cabins available as part of the offer.
  • A sailing on May 17 is not available as part of the offer.
  • Passengers will be assigned a Sea Terrace or Limited View Sea Terrace cabin based on availability.
  • The points price is per cabin, whether there are one or two people staying in the cabin.
  • All passengers must be over 18 years of age.
  • Each Virgin Red member can book up to four cabins as part of the offer, but the booking party must check in at the same time.
  • The Virgin Red member responsible for the booking must present their Virgin Red app to verify their eligibility before boarding.

Also note that cabins booked under the offer cannot be upgraded, unless Virgin Voyages subsequently offers the chance to do so.

As previously announced, Virgin Voyages has introduced a fresh batch of exciting itineraries to make up for the canceled sailings and to extend their offerings through early 2025 across their three ships.

More Ports than Ever Before

Virgin Voyages is introducing 19 new ports and 27 new itineraries through April 2025. Spanning all corners of the globe, the new offerings feature a return to the UK following strong demand, new ports of call in Australia and new seaside locations in the Caribbean.

Resilient Lady

Virgin Voyages’ newest ship, fresh from its inaugural Australian season, will sail from Athens between May and July 2024. It offers three itineraries: “Greek Island Glow” to Santorini and Mykonos, “Adriatic Sea and Greek Gems” along the Dalmatian Coast and Corfu, and “Starry Nights in Greece & Croatia,” merging elements from the first two.

Virgin Voyages will then return to its British roots from mid-August to September 2024 with Resilient Lady, featuring “English Sights and European Delights” and repositioning voyages from Portsmouth to Barcelona, adding Morocco. The Mediterranean season ends with a voyage from Barcelona to Athens, including Catania, Sicily.

Come October 2024, Resilient Lady embarks on an epic 44-night journey from Athens to Australia via Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, and Bali. Down under, 15 new itineraries and nine new ports await exploration, including Broome, Albany, Adelaide, Newcastle, Mooloolaba, Port Douglas, Brisbane, Eden, and Kangaroo Island.

Scarlet Lady

During the summer of 2024, from May to October, Scarlet Lady will bask in the Mediterranean sun, taking on Valiant Lady’s two seven-night itineraries: “Irresistible Med” and “French Daze and Ibiza Nights.” On November 3, Scarlet will begin an 11-night repositioning voyage from Barcelona to Civitavecchia, with stops in Mallorca, Corsica, and Sardinia. After a brief period in dry dock for general maintenance, improvements, and adjustments, Scarlet Lady will return to service with a 16-night Transatlantic voyage from Rome to Miami. This new itinerary includes visits to Funchal (Madeira, Portugal) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain).

Upon arriving in Miami on December 14, 2024, Scarlet Lady will offer Valiant’s signature six- and eight-night winter voyages throughout the spring of 2025. These voyages, originally introduced in the fall of 2022, include late-night stays in San Juan, immersive experiences in Roatan’s beautiful and rugged landscape, and a day-trip to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

Valiant Lady

Valiant Lady will depart from Barcelona on October 29, 2023, and commence her well-known itineraries from Miami, including the “Eastern Caribbean Antilles” and “Western Caribbean Charm.” From January to March 2024, she’ll be based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, featuring two southern Caribbean voyages originally planned for the Brilliant Lady, “Southeastern Caribbean Isles” and “Sunsets in the Lesser Antilles.”

In April 2024, Valiant Lady, taking over for Scarlet Lady, will set sail from Miami, continuing to offer Scarlet’s beloved four- and five-night Caribbean journeys. Additionally, there will be a special six-night “Holidaze and Nights” voyage for passengers to enjoy.

Virgin Set For Second ‘Virgin Celebration Voyage’

  • April 26, 2024

Richard Branson

After its successful debut last year, Virgin Voyages announced its second annual “Virgin Celebration Voyage.”

In honor of the company’s 50+ year history, guests will have the opportunity to sail on three voyages featuring special guests, including Richard Branson and Boy George from Culture Club, according to a press release.

Present onboard will be Virgin Voyages executives joined by astronauts from Virgin Galactic who have voyaged to the edge of space. Guests can look forward to shore experiences, fitness classes, interactive workshops, exclusive fireside chats and daily happy hours.

“Not only are we excited to bring back this special series, but we’re making a splash, doing it bigger and better than in 2023 with not one, but three incredible voyages,” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages. “Once a year, our Sailors have unprecedented access to immerse themselves in the magic of both Virgin Voyages and the Virgin brand. They’ll be rubbing elbows with visionary leaders from across the Virgin family and this year’s very special guests.”

Dates for this year’s “Virgin Celebration Voyage”  include:

  • The Valiant Lady – August 30 – September 4: Dominican Daze (Miami – Puerto Plata – Beach Club at Bimini – Miami)
  • The Scarlet Lady – September 1-8: French Daze and Ibiza Nights (Barcelona – Marseille – Cannes – Palma de Mallorca – Ibiza – Barcelona)
  • The Resilient Lady – September 3-8: UK to Zeebrugge and Amsterdam (Portsmouth – Amsterdam – Zeebrugge (Bruges) – Portsmouth)

Radiators fail once more: Moscow suburbs residents appeal to Putin

R esidents across the Moscow suburbs are besieged by a heating problem, for which they plead direct intervention from President Vladimir Putin. These individuals have yet to experience any semblance of home heating since winter started due to a dwindling supply of heating oil. The issue, one largely avoided by local authority communication, has left residents desperate to the point of directly appealing to the president.

While plots have been uncovered to disrupt Ukraine's infrastructure for a second consecutive winter, thus depriving civilians of heating, it seems Russians are now mired in their crisis. Irony drips from the fact that those under Putin's leadership are looking to cause turmoil in Ukraine, yet at home, they face a similar predicament.

Many dwellings within the Moscow agglomeration are presently without heat. The capital's residents are desperate, directly appealing to President Putin due to a perceived lack of alternate avenues for assistance. The absence of suitable heating functionality since winter commenced pushes them towards desperation with no relief in sight.

This seems improbable, but in Russia, it appears that anything can happen.

It remains uncertain if Vladimir Putin is actively addressing the heating crisis. Some experts suggest that Russia's heating oil reserves are depleting, which negatively affects residents' quality of life. Plagued by cold radiators and plummeting winter temperatures, these citizens have directly addressed their pleas to their head of state.

This heating crisis is happening in Elektrostal, a town approximately 71 miles from Moscow.

Ironically, Russia has constantly aimed to destroy the Ukrainian infrastructure since war broke out, deliberately trying to leave Ukrainians without heating during the harsh winters, aiming to break their strong will. It's an irony they now struggle with a domestic heating crisis, particularly near Moscow, their largest and most pivotal city.

Desperate individuals are reaching out to Vladimir Putin. They question his knowledge of the heating infrastructure conditions in the Moscow suburbs and the dire situations residents face there. Sundown brings no relief from the harsh Russian winter and without heating, their houses turn cold. With elections nearing, more and more residents find themselves reaching out directly to their president.

"Since winter's start, we've been without heating. This has been a yearly occurrence for the past three years. Despite paying for heating, we don't have enough. We implore you, help us!" - these are the desperate pleas from the heavily dressed populace dealing with the Russian winter conditions.

Experts attribute the heating oil shortage to international sanctions and surging demands for diesel fuel, pivotal to military operations. Russia now grapples with a dearth of raw materials essential for boiler and heating plant operation. As supplies dwindle, houses grow cold with little hope of any immediate corrective intervention.

It would be adequate if the war ceased, residents were prioritized, and attention accorded to their welfare.

Whether you’re new to the AIP or have been navigating your special diet for a while, it can be disheartening to have to face the holiday season without being able to drink. Everyone else is loosening up, having fun, and you feel stuck on the sidelines.

But, in my experience, indulging in an adult beverage has never been worth the pain it causes my body. With cramping, migraines, and nausea on the table… well, alcohol starts to look a lot less appealing. But that’s what mocktails are for!

With the addition of cherries and sparkling water instead of vodka, these Virgin Cherry Moscow Mules will slake your thirst and make it look like you’re part of the party… without any of the nasty side effects. To your health!

how do you muddle cherries with lime juice?

' src=

Muddling basically just means smashing them together. You can use a spoon or fork, but it works best with something like a pestle.

Can you advise how the ginger beer recipe is AIP since it has cane sugar? I am very new to this lifestyle, but I enjoy a cocktail every once in a while and this may make me happy!

Best Virgin Moscow Mule Recipe

Nov 30, 2019

Wherever there are great cocktail recipes, there are equally fabulous mocktail recipes for those of us who enjoy all the style and taste of cocktails without liquor. In this post, we reveal the best recipe for the Virgin Moscow Mule on the internet! Let's get started!

Introduction

A cocktail is essentially a blend of two or more ingredients of which at least one is alcoholic. As of late, cocktails are getting more inventive with upwards of four and five ingredients.

The Moscow Mule keeps it classically simple with only three ingredients that most of us already have at home. Vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice.

The intense burn of the ginger beer blended with the refreshing sourness of lime juice delights the palate and warms you right up from the first sip.

There are a multitude of practical reasons for choosing a mocktail over a cocktail.

This could include health concerns and diet practices. Or, maybe you're the designated driver and don't want to miss out on a fun night with your social group.

Whatever the reason, mocktails make sure no one is left out.

Most will say that a mocktail is simply a recipe for any cocktail sans the alcoholic ingredient(s), but we're going to show you fantastic ways to enjoy a Virgin Moscow Mule without sacrificing flavor or taste.

Ingredients:

  • Sparkling Water
  • Fresh limes
  • Ginger beer
  • Simple syrup

Instructions:

  • You can either muddle a couple of fresh limes or use freshly squeezed lime juice. We won't tell if you decide to do both ;)
  • Next, combine your favorite sparkling water and a splash of ginger beer
  • Add a serving of simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar)
  • Stir. If you have a shaker on hand, you can also shake the combined ingredients together, but be cautious when pouring as the turbulence may have created a little extra fizz from the sparkling water.
  • Pour over ice

With this excellent non-alcoholic version of the Moscow Mule, you can have guilt-free seconds or even thirds!

Moscow Muled copper mugs filled with clear liquid ice cubs and lime slices

Health Benefits

Typically, in every 6 oz serving of the traditional Moscow Mule cocktail there are approximately 180 to 200 calories.

One fantastic upside of making a Moscow Mule mocktail is that with the extraction of vodka (say 1.5 oz) you can eliminate around 96 calories, meaning that a typical 6 oz serving is approximately 100 calories or less!

Layers of Flavors

one whole ginger beside four sliced ginger

Now that we've laid the foundations, it's time to explore the variations and wonderful layers we can add to perfect our Virgin Moscow Mule.  With these alterations, your mocktails are sure to be enjoyed by all!

In addition to following the preparation of the basic recipe noted above, we suggest adding a few slices of fresh ginger to the mix.

To fully extract the flavors of the ginger, consider muddling it with your limes. Be careful to strain afterward, unless you want to be sucking up bits of ginger through your straw and set your mouth ablaze!

Coupled with the ginger beer, this is sure to amplify the smoldering tones of the original cocktail's taste.

Be sure to use ginger beer and not ginger ale. Most commercially sold ginger beer, though fermented, is alcohol-free. It differs from ginger ale in the way it is manufactured. The intensity of ginger essence in ginger ale isn’t comparable to that of the essence in ginger beer.

So, if you decide to replace ginger beer with ginger ale, you’ll be disappointed at the silenced flavors of ginger in your drink. Essentially, what you’d be drinking wouldn’t be a Moscow Mule at all.

Take it from us, use ginger beer!

If you would rather direct your variations or additions towards the sweet and fruity citrus flavors of your Virgin Mule, you can switch out the simple syrup for a fruit-flavored syrup.

Use a lime-flavored syrup if you would like to stay true to the original characteristics of the classic Moscow Mule.

If you're looking to put a spin on your virgin mule, don't be afraid to try any berry-flavored syrup for an extra layer of fruity goodness.

Sugar-Free Options

Not everyone is a fan of sugar and all things sweet. With this modification, the recipe can accommodate those of us who are patrolling our sugar intake due to dieting and/or health concerns.

More specifically, if you're counting calories or looking to steer clear of sugar all together, you can modify the Virgin Mule recipe by using sugar-free syrup.

With 8 grams of sugar in one tablespoon of conventional syrup, the sugar-free option is a great way to go. A couple of dollops of the sugar-free syrup is a guilt-free way to enjoy the sweetness of this mocktail without the guilt.

Depending on your location and accessibility, you may or may not find brands of sugar-free syrup.  All the merrier if you can!

If you can’t find sugar-free syrup, another option is to use flavored sparkling water to add some additional flavour to your mocktail.  Some brands of flavored sparkling water are sold in tasty flavors with no sugar, no sweeteners, and no calories. Furthermore, the carbonation in sparkling water will augment the invigorating fizz of the ginger beer.  Win-win-win!

Serving Time

Just because we've decided to forego the alcohol component doesn't mean we're also forsaking presentation. We 're all about balance in life as well as in mocktails. So, if one component of the drink has been removed, another must be added!

And what better place to embellish then in the presentation?

It's no secret that the Moscow Mule is served in a copper mug . There are a variety of reasons why, and one of them is that copper is trusted to maintain a cooler temperature. In addition, the copper adds a "zing" to the flavor of the cocktail with each sip.

Whatever the reason, we can't deny that a Moscow Mule served in a copper mug just looks and feels right. The same is to be said for a Virgin Mule.

Besides, if we’re talking about looks, no one has to know you’re drinking a mocktail if you don’t want them to. The copper mug will keep your secret!

In lieu of serving your Virgin Mule in a copper mug, you can serve it in any bar glass. With so many types and shapes of cocktail glasses, there really is no reason why you couldn't enjoy your mocktail in a highball, an old fashion glass, or even a martini glass.

Whatever you have on hand should work just fine!

Garnish Like a Pro

Add a lime wedge to the rim and voila!

Want to take things up a notch? Drag the lime wedge along the rim of your glass, allowing the citrus to coat the edge. Turn your glass upside down into a plate of salt or sugar.

Extra points for presentation and added flavor with every sip!

For herb garnishes, clap your choice of herbs between your hands to bruise it lightly and release its essential oils and aroma.  Mint works great!

And here's an extra tip. If you have them, sprinkle a few pomegranate seeds on the surface of your drink! However, be careful if drinking with a straw as those little seeds will get sucked right up! It’s also a beautiful addition to your Virgin Mule, as you can see in the photo below.

We hope this article has been useful in helping to introduce you to the Virgin Moscow Mule! The Moscow Mule is an incredibly versatile drink, so don't hesitate to let your creativity push you to experiment with new variations. And, if you want to take your presentation and style up a notch, make sure to equip your kitchen bar with a few copper mugs !
