Last year we did the Viking River "Passage to Eastern Europe" as part of our Bucharest-Amsterdam trip. The Bucharest-Budapest was a totally different trip that the Budapest-Amsterdam leg. We moved from the poorest areas of Europe (Romania, Bulgaria and the Balkan countries to the most affluent.

The singers were truly second-rate, and the instruments seemed out of tune. For this, we paid $109 each. On our own, we found first rate restaurants in Prague that served fantastic food for under $100 for two. Overall, Viking's excursions that include food are definitely questionable.

The countries on the itinerary are amazing: Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Hungary. All the ship's crew were from these countries, and of course also the same for our local guides.
