The Revolutionary Story Tour

Price: Adults from $76; kids from $38 Duration: 4 hours

Many reviewers call this tour enjoyable and one of the best walking tours they'd ever been on thanks to the engaging guide. Led by a local resident with degrees in history, political science and public policy, the tour takes visitors through the streets of Boston to chronologically retell the story of the American Revolution. Along the 3.5-mile jaunt, you'll pass by a dozen of the sites featured on the Freedom Trail, and you'll also hear about the key players in 18th-century Boston, including John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Paul Revere.

Tours are offered daily at 9:30 a.m. There is also a 1:30 p.m. tour Thursday through Sunday during the winter months and daily during the summer months through the beginning of November. There is a maximum of 16 people per tour. The company partners with another local guide to provide private tours.

City Experiences by Hornblower – New England Aquarium Whale Watch Cruise

Price: Adults from $65; kids from $45 Duration: 3.5 hours

Hop on one of City Experience's high-speed catamarans for a whale watching excursion to the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. This area is a magnet for whales, dolphins, sea birds and other marine creatures who head there to feed. New England Aquarium naturalists on board offer their insights on whales, answer questions and explain whale behaviors, a big plus for travelers. During your trip, you may see several different species of whales, including humpbacks, finbacks, minkes, sei whales and endangered right whales.

Tours leave from mid-May through early-November from Long Wharf, which is located near the aquarium. Tour frequency depends on the month, but there is at least one per day. Cruisers say the tour is fun and report seeing plenty of wildlife. Combo tickets that include admission to the aquarium are also available. The company also offers sightseeing and sunset cruises.

CityView Trolley Tours

As one of America's oldest cities, Boston can proudly claim many "firsts." The first public park, Boston Common, is across from the Massachusetts State House in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The Boston Public Library, founded in 1852, is the first extensive free municipal library. The first subway system in America opened in downtown Boston in 1897. And the first lighthouse in America was established in Boston Harbor on Little Brewster Island in 1716. Boston, and the surrounding area, are also home to many great inventions. The disposable razor was patented in 1901 by King C. Gillette. The 54th Massachusetts was the first unit in the Union Army made up of free Black soldiers in the Civil War. What are private tours.

Private tours include just you and your family and friends. That’s all. To ensure you have a personal experience, your group will consist of you and your family/friends/colleagues, only. We never mix groups, or put you with strangers. There is no minimum: if it’s just you, we look forward to becoming your travel companion for the day.

Do you offer private tours for larger groups?

Yes! Larger groups include tour group on a bus, school groups, corporate groups, etc. Tours for larger groups range in size from 10 to upwards of 60 or more people. For information and pricing on group tours for other organizations, please contact us.

What if someone in my group has mobility issues?

We will work with you to the best of our ability to ensure you’re able to enjoy our city at a comfortable pace and within a reasonably safe, respectful environment.

Where does the tour begin?

Starting points can vary depending upon the tour that you choose. Private tours can often begin at the Boston location of your choice including hotels, B&B’s private homes, etc. or a designated meeting place will be determined prior to tour day. The Freedom Trail tours begin at the corner of Hanover Street and Cross Street at the Tony DeMarco boxing statue or the corner of Park Street & Tremont Street between the Park St. subway stations.

Are prices per person?

No! Prices are per group, in US dollars. The price of your tour is guaranteed the moment we receive your deposit.

Are there any additional fees or admissions?

Optional admission to the Old North Church - $5.00 and Paul Revere House - Adults - $5.00 Seniors and College Students - $4.50 Children (ages 5-17) - $1.00 Cash only for admission. Old State House Museum optional visit admission: Adults - $10.00 , Seniors (62+) - $8.50, Students - $8.50, Youth (6-18), Members, US Military, and Veterans - FREE

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept all major credit cards, Venmo or company check in advance of your tour.

What is the cancellation policy?

BTS must receive written notification of cancellation. The date such notification is received by BTS will determine the applicable cancellation penalties. The following cancellation penalties apply:

• More than 90 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, 100% of paid contracted tour amount will be refunded by BST.
• From 21-90 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, 50% of paid contracted tour amount less any costs associated with ground transportation will be refunded by BST.
• From 14- 21 days to scheduled day of participant's tour date 25% of paid contracted tour amount less any costs associated with ground transportation will be refunded by BST.
• Any cancellation of tours less than 14 days prior to participant's scheduled tour date, no refunds will be issued will be refunded by BST.
• For tours requiring use of a third-party vehicle, no refunds are available if the notice given conflicts with the third-party cancellation policy.

Do you accept gratuities?

Tipping is by no means a requirement or expectation for anyone on our team. If you had a great tour and enjoyed the service that your guide provided then leaving a tip is always greatly appreciated. This can be done with cash, Venmo or added to your invoice.

When are tours offered?

Tours run year round. Select the date on our reservations calendar and a tour representative will respond to confirm the date and time you prefer is available.

What about the weather?

This is New England. We are a hearty bunch and will go out in all kinds of weather. If it rains, we can spend more time inside of attractions and dodge the puddles while using an umbrella. Flexibility is the name of the game! We reserve the right to cancel any tour if the weather conditions are determined to be unsafe.

This is the one you haul all the out-of-towners to—mostly because you can’t wait to go yourself. Boston Itinerary: How to Spend Five Days in Boston

One of the most historic cities in the United States , Boston is the city I called home for the first 25 years of my life.

More a collection of towns than a metropolis like New York , Boston is a city steeped in history (it contains a lot of historical firsts for the United States and played a pivotal role in its founding), delicious food, wide-open green spaces, first-rate museums, and warm, welcoming people.

Visiting Boston offers all the benefits of a big metropolis without the intensity and fast pace of New York.

Boston is easy to get around and compact, making it perfect for travelers. The subway will take you wherever you need to go.

So how many days do you need to visit Boston?

Most people visit for three to four days, and I think that’s a perfect amount of time. As someone who’s lived there, I can say that, since Boston is so small, you won’t waste a lot of time “in transit,” so you can pack a lot into your days. Obviously, you can spend longer here (slow travel is the best travel), but for the first-time visitor, three to four days is enough.

You follow a brick road through the city, and there are signs and historical markers all along the way. Given all the walking that’s involved, I would make this the main activity of the day. You’ll want to take your time and see all the sites thoroughly.

You can also take a guided tour from the visitor’s center. Tours run hourly between 11am and 1pm, with additional tours in the afternoon in the spring and summer. Tickets are $17 USD for adults, $15 USD for students and seniors, and $8 USD for children 6-12 (free for kids under 6).

Browse for Books Located a stone’s throw away from the Boston Common, Brattle Book Shop is a family-run used bookstore that dates back to 1825. It’s actually one of the oldest surviving bookstores in the country! It’s home to over 250,000 books, maps, postcards, and other odds and ends. In addition to used books, the store is also home to an impressive collection of first editions and antique books.

Walk Around the Back Bay This area used to be an actual bay. Before the Europeans arrived, the indigenous population used the tidal bay to catch fish, as the bay drained completely during low tide. When the land was colonized, a dam was built and the tidal bay was eventually filled in, creating the Back Bay area.

The end of the Public Gardens meets Boston’s Back Bay, our version of New York’s SoHo and West Village. This is where Boston’s elite and wealthy live, and nearby Newbury Street is our Madison Avenue, with lots of expensive shopping and high-end eateries. It’s a beautiful space to stroll around, with pretty brownstones and tree-lined streets. You can still see plenty of old Victorian homes in this neighborhood that date back to the 19th century. You’ll also find the Boston Public Library here. Opened in 1852, it’s one of the largest municipal libraries in the country, home to over 23 million items, with almost 4 million visitors each year.

Head up to the Prudential Tower Head back toward Copley to see the Prudential Tower, colloquially known as “The Pru.” You can actually go up to the top and get a bird’s-eye view of Boston. There are 52 floors in the building, which was built in the 1960s. These days, it’s the second tallest building in the city (the John Hancock Tower is first).

See the Skinny House When you’re in the North End, visit 44 Hull Street. Known as “the Skinny House” (or the Spite House), this incredibly narrow house has a rather interesting history. Built after the Civil War, it was a passion project of Joseph Euestus, who came home from the war to find that his brother had taken over more than half of the inherited land they were meant to share. Joseph decided to build on the remaining land — which his brother thought was too small to build anything on. Joseph went ahead and built a narrow four-story home on the small slice of land to block his brother’s view.

Visit an Art Gallery or Museum Boston has a lot of great galleries and museums, so depending on your interest, you’ll want to check out some (or all) of the galleries and museums below. It will take more than an afternoon to see them all but you can always spread these visits out over a few days!

• Institute of Contemporary Art : If contemporary art is your cup of tea, this is for you. While it’s not my favorite style of art, I have to admit this place does put on some insightful exhibits. 25 Harbor Shore Drive, +1 617-478-3100, icaboston.org.

• Harvard Museum of Natural History : This natural history museum has exhibitions showcasing dinosaurs, animals, and minerals (including meteorites). It’s a great choice if you’re traveling with kids, though there is plenty of informative content for adults too! 26 Oxford St +1 617-495-3045, hmnh.harvard.edu.
• Harvard University Art Museums : Harvard actually has three art museums – the Fogg Museum, the Busch-Reisinger Museum, and the Arthur M. Sackler Museum. They are home to both modern and historical art exhibitions. See what exhibitions are running by checking their website. harvardartmuseums.org
• Museum of Fine Arts : This museum has an impressive collection of over 450,000 pieces of fine art. It also runs all sorts of art classes throughout the year, both multi-week classes as well as single-day workshops. • Warren Anatomical Museum : Founded in 1847, this macabre museum is filled with Civil War–era medical tools as well as some unique (and perhaps unsettling) medical mysteries. It’s super weird but super neat. • Boston Tea Party and Ships Museum : This interactive museum is home to some historic ships that have been authentically restored to show you what life was like at sea during the Boston Tea Party. It also has a really informative documentary about the events that led up to the Tea Party and the American Revolution. Best of all, you can actually throw fake crates of tea into the river yourself to see what it was like! 306 Congress St, +1 617-338-1773, bostonteapartyship.com.
• Paul Revere House : Built in 1680, this is actually the oldest building in the entire city (it’s been renovated but it’s still the original building). The museum is filled with the family’s furniture and artifacts, giving you a sense of what life was like in Boston before the Revolution. 19 N Square, +1 617-523-2338, paulreverehouse.org.
• Museum of Bad Art : The name says it all! This is a museum filled with terrible art. The MOBA has rotating exhibits throughout the year, so there is always something new and terrible to behold. If you feel like a laugh, definitely check out this quirky gallery! 55 Davis Square, +1 781-444-6757, museumofbadart.org.
• Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum This museum is home to an amazing art collection of over 20,000 items, including European, Asian, and American art. Opened in 1903, the museum is made up of a wide-ranging collection of paintings, tapestries, decorative arts, and sculptures. It’s one of the best museums in Boston. Take the Sam Adams Brewery Tour After four days of sightseeing, you deserve a beer or five. Luckily, this brewery is located near the Arboretum so it’s easy to visit and a great way to end your day. Sam Adams is a major brewer in Boston, and locals drink it widely and frequently. The brewery offers free tours, starting in mid-afternoon and departing every 45 minutes. You get a few free samples along the way. If you’re under 21, don’t worry. You can still go — you just can’t drink.

30 Germania St, +1 617-368-5080, samueladams.com. Tours are available Monday-Thursday and Saturdays 10am-3pm. On Friday, tours are available between 10am and 5:30pm. Their Sam Signature Experience is 45 min long and costs $10 USD.

Visit the Children’s Museum If you’re traveling with kids, this is a great place to spend part of your visit. It’s the second oldest children’s museum in the US and has permanent exhibits on health and exercise, construction, space, art, and diversity. It also has a real two-story house from Kyoto, Japan, that teaches kids about life there (it’s actually pretty cool!).

308 Congress Street, +1 617-426-6500, bostonchildrensmuseum.org. Open Wednesday-Sunday 9am-12pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. On the first Saturday of the month, the museum opens at 10am. Admission is $20 USD for both adults and kids (free for infants under 12 months).

Charlestown Navy Yard, +1 617-426-1812, ussconstitutionmuseum.org. The ship is open Tuesday-Sunday 10am-6pm (with extended hours in the summer); the museum is open 10am-6pm (with extended hours in the summer as well). Admission is free, though the museum has a suggested donation of $10-15 USD.

Visit More Museums – With any extra time, visit more museums! There’s plenty of them to see! Try not to skip the big ones!

725 Commonwealth Avenue, +1 617-353-2630, bu.edu/astronomy/community/open-night-observatory/. Viewings are Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm in the autumn and winter and 8:30pm in the spring and summer. Make sure to get there 10 minutes early as they don’t permit entry once it starts.

See the Mapparium – Located in the Mary Baker Eddy Library, this three-story inverted globe serves as a giant map of the world that you can walk into via a glass bridge. It is constructed of over 600 stained-glass panels and shows the world as it looked in 1935.

200 Massachusetts Avenue, +1 617-450-7000, marybakereddylibrary.org. Open daily 10am-5pm. Admission to the Mapparium is $6 USD for adults, with discounts available for students, children, and seniors.

Head to Castle Island – Castle Island is located in South Boston and is famous for Fort Independence. When the fort was no longer needed for defense, it was actually used as the first state prison. The island covers 22 acres and has excellent beaches, as well as some running trails that are popular with the locals. There’s also an area for picnics and you can visit the old fort for free. The place gets pretty busy on the weekends during the summer, and you can often see school groups exploring the fort during the spring.

Relax at the Lawn on D – This massive green space is new to the city (when I was growing up, there was nothing in this area so you would never go there). There are all sorts of free activities happening year-round, from concerts to festivities and everything in between! There’s public seating, free Wi-Fi, art exhibitions, and a few games, like table tennis and bocce. To see what events are happening during your visit, check the website for details.

Hike the Blue Hills – This park is a bit out of the way, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you want to get out and stretch your legs. The 7,000-acre park is home to over 100 miles of trails and offers some picturesque viewpoints. There are also plenty of activities to keep you entertained, such as boating, fishing, skiing, and rock climbing (depending on the season). It can get busy in the summer on the weekends, so just be sure to arrive early.

Tour the Custom House – Built in the 17th century, the Custom House is one of the most recognizable buildings in the city. In 1915, a tower was added to the building, making it the tallest building in the city at the time. The building is owned by Marriott Hotels now, though you can still take a free tour (by appointment) to go up to the observation deck on the 26th floor.

Boston is a great city (and I’m not just saying that because I grew up there). I’ve never encountered a person who hasn’t liked it. This Boston itinerary will give you a good overview of the city at a relaxing pace. You’ll be moving around a lot, though, so make sure you get an unlimited “T” pass (subway/train pass). If you have more time, you can squeeze in some other activities .

But why rush such a beautiful place?

Take it slow. Mix and match the itinerary to suit your needs but this is how I’d structure my days if I was visiting Boston!

If you're looking for a taste of New England 's distinct four seasons, fresh seafood, history and professional sports of all kinds, there's nowhere better than the city of Boston. It's here that over 20 million people come to visit each year to explore each of the neighborhoods , check out museums and other landmarks, and enjoy Boston staples like lobster rolls, Fenway Park and the Freedom Trail. There's plenty of food, culture, and entertainment to take in while you're in town.

When to Visit

Boston is a destination where you can truly experience all four seasons and there's plenty to do within each. Because of this, the best time to visit depends on your preferences, such as experiencing the holidays or snow during the winter months, seeing fall foliage or enjoying the warmer weather while walking around the city. Many prefer to head to Boston in the late-spring (May to June) or early-fall (September to October).

Where to Eat

Boston — and New England in general — are known for coastal foods, particularly seafood, but there are also other staples to try depending on which neighborhood you're in. To start, make sure you grab a lobster roll or clam chowder from one of the local seafood restaurants and an Italian cannoli in the North End. If you head north of the city (and also at select places in Boston), you'll also find roast beef sandwiches that are a staple for those who grew up in the area and much better than standard deli meat.

In the past few years, Boston has become more of a craft beer destination, with local breweries popping up in many of the city's neighborhoods and even out in the suburbs. You can try them out either at the breweries, many of which have fun outdoor, dog-friendly spaces, or at bars throughout the city, as many now have a wide variety to choose from on tap. If you're not into craft beer, you can't go wrong with two of the bigger Boston breweries, Sam Adams and Harpoon.

Where to Stay

There are plenty of hotels to choose from in Boston, ranging from well-known brands to boutique options. Renting an Airbnb can also be an affordable option and enable you to live more like a local.

While it's easy to get place-to-place within Boston, think about what you want to see and do before you book a hotel or Airbnb. Being close to the MBTA will make your life easier if you're willing to try out the city's public transportation system. Also, for Airbnbs especially, take a look at the location before you book, as you'll likely find that the least expensive options may not be in the most accessible spots or even within Boston proper.

If you plan to shop and want to see Newbury Street, consider staying in the Back Bay. Or if you plan to focus on seeing the city's historical landmarks and museums, while also experiencing some of the most beautiful and unique neighborhoods, try staying in or near the North End, Beacon Hill or even the South End . Other areas with fewer or no actual hotels but lots of great restaurants and shops are South Boston and Charlestown.

Just outside the city are neighborhoods like Somerville, including their new Assembly Row plaza with a hotel right inside. If you're visiting in the summer months and want to enjoy Massachusetts' beaches , consider staying in a coastal town with public transportation into the city to see the sights.

Getting Around

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is the best place to fly into, with direct flights from many of the country's major cities and beyond. The airport is located in East Boston, about 15 minutes outside of the city, though the drive will depend on the time of day and traffic.

You can also use public transportation via the MBTA Silver Line to get to South Station for free. That's where you can pick up several other MBTA subway lines, the Commuter Rail, the Greyhound bus station and more.

There are two other airports you may opt to fly into, depending on if you are exploring other parts of New England during your trip and what prices at each look like: Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire (less than 50 miles north of Boston) and T.F. Green Airport in Providence , Rhode Island (approximately 60 miles from Boston). You'll likely want to rent a car unless you plan to stay put once you are in Boston, in which case you can take buses and other forms of transportation into the city. Once you're in Boston, you can get by with public transportation and/or ride-sharing services and taxis.

Things to Do in Boston

What you do in Boston will depend on the time of year you're visiting, as spring and fall are the most ideal for walking around the city. However, there are activities like holiday festivities that take place during the cold winter months that are also fun to experience. No matter when you visit, here are a few things you won't want to miss:

• Walk the Freedom Trail , a 2.5-mile pathway that will guide you along many of the historic landmarks starting at the Boston Common and ending in Charlestown at the Bunker Hill Monument, commemorating the first major battle of America's Revolutionary War.
• Check out several of the city's museums , including the Museum of Science, Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum and Boston Children's Museum.
• Go shopping on Newbury Street, Boylston Street and in Copley Plaza and the Prudential Center, all in the Back Bay. Charles Street in Beacon Hill is another shopping destination with more local boutiques.

• Stay close to the city but not right downtown and check out Airbnbs in various neighborhoods and surrounding towns near public transportation.
• Take public transportation, the MBTA, rather than taxi or Uber, or consider trying out the city's Blue Bike rentals.

Transportation from Logan Airport to the Boston Hyatt was a mess!!!! No signs, no directions, and the taxi driver had no idea what to do with the voucher. Ended up paying for the taxi! Ridiculous!! 4. Service at the included dinner at the Daniel Webster Inn was horrible!! Kathy (our waitress) should be fired! However, the food was delicious! 5. Not enough time spent in Nantucket. 6. Way too much time spent at the Breakers in Newport. 7. This should not be considered an 8-day tour. All we did on day 8 was ride on the bus to the airport! Pros: 1. Tour director Robin was outstanding!! Wellness director, Brittany, was also fabulous! 2. Canolis, Cape Code Chips and Cape Codders on the bus was a nice touch! Thoroughly enjoyed the snacks on the bus! 3. Ferry to Martha's Vineyard was fun! Thoroughly enjoyed the talk session/information about the Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. Spotlight on Boston

I was a little nervous before the start of the trip because there were some complications trying to confirm the trip. It was partially my fault because I did book the trip relatively last minute, but I do believe there was some miscommunication on both ends that could have been avoided from the very beginning. The biggest problem was the method of communication. I did not understand that in order for the information to be relayed correctly, you had to message through the communication portal on touradar's website. That was not explicitly made clear, and it took several days and conversations with multiple people to finally realize that. Once that was made clear, everything ran much more smoothly, but I definitely think for the customer's sake especially new customer, someone needs to be very clear in explaining that and confirm with the customer by having them relay it back to them. Thankfully, once everything was booked and confirmed, the trip ran wonderfully! I had such a blast. My tour guide was amazing and the group I was with were incredible. I am definitely looking forward to booking another trip in the future.

Fall Colours of New England (10 Days)

I personally enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Well organized, all places to visit were chosen thoughtfully. Our guide, Scott, was simply the very right person for the tour, polite and entertaining. There is one comment though I’d like to submit. If only they could afford to give us more quality time to spend on all places we visited, instead of spending so much time on restroom stops, or eating places, I would say the trip was just excellent. still, we loved it very much.

Iconic Cities & Natural Marvels: 21-Day USA Group Tour from East to West Coast

From a speedboat to the Statue of Liberty to fireworks on 4th July in Washington to hiking to Yosemite Falls, this trip showcased the very best the USA has to offer. I went on the 21 day Full Cyote trip from New York to San Francisco with my brother. With such a packed itinerary of included activities, it offered great value for money. The guides in every region we visited were excellent. A particular shout out to Ryan, who added in extra stops and experiences based on the group's interests. Other highlights included the Grand Canyon, Washington's museums, whale watching in Boston, cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge and sunset in Griffeths Park. I met a great group of people on the trip, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with the Cyote Trip again.

It was a fantastic tour !!. Our guide Larry and driver Markus were amazing. We were in Canada for Canada day- saw the fireworks by Niagara falls and were in Washington for 4th of July fireworks. It could not have been better!!! Loved the stay and the experience. Will definitely travel with them again. P.S- We also went to the Amish village in Pennsylvania with was not part of the itinerary.

Classic Fall Foliage

I was on a fall foliage tour with Globus. The guide was great, the itinerary was also very nice and I enjoyed it very much. I was however disappointed that despite Globus claiming on their website that they have "small group" tours that average 24 people there were 42 on our tour. I guess I should look for advertisement of the total group size instead of thinking that an "average" of 24 would be closer to 24 than to 42! Proof of vaccination was required, which was necessary for me to sign up in the first place but I truly felt deceived that my "small group" was almost double the average.

Ask any Boston-area cinephile about the best film festival the city has to offer, and chances are they’ll name the  Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) . Since its founding in 2003, IFFBoston has grown in size and stature, bringing an impressive slate of new movies to the independent cinemas of Boston during its annual spring festival, which runs through May 8 this year. Highlights among the 90+ films being screened at this year’s fest include “Good One” (Friday at 8 p.m.), about a 17-year-old on a backpacking trip with her father and his oldest friend in the Catskills, and “Janet Planet” (Saturday at 7:30 p.m.), a coming-of-age movie shot in Western Massachusetts by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker, in her directorial debut. See The Decemberists at Roadrunner

Listen to just a few of their songs, and it’s easy to label The Decemberists, who hail from Oregon, as a catchy, poppy, contemporary American indie band with a sound of their own. Dig into them a little deeper, and you might pick up subtle hints of influences: Is there a bit of R.E.M. in there? Perhaps some Mumford & Sons? The Shins? Front man Colin Meloy would probably be satisfied to say they’re a folk-rock band. Yet their album “The Hazards of Love” attained rock opera status, “The King Is Dead” brought some of Meloy’s appreciation of country music into the mix, and “I’ll Be Your Girl” had an unexpected synthesizer presence. It’s been six years since that one, and though a new album is in the works, so far only the singles “Burial Ground,” “Joan in the Garden” and “All I Want Is You” have been released. No doubt, the current “A Peaceable Kingdom” tour, which visits Roadrunner this Thursday, will feature other tunes no one has yet heard.  (Thursday, May 2 at 8 p.m.; 89 Guest St., Boston; $49 and up) — Ed Symkus

Go country with Dustin Lynch

Hailing from Tullahoma, Tennessee, Dustin Lynch makes records that feature big, slick production values with a driving, percussive beat; his deep, rich vocals; and songs about guys and gals and the accompanying ups and downs of relationships. He’s also had a terrific streak of creating hits, resulting in gold records, platinum records, and in 2018, membership in the Grand Ole Opry. Although deep down, he has the heart and soul of a country boy — and most of his music fits comfortably in that genre — there are also ample doses of pop and even a little R&B in much of his original material, which will be on full display during his set this Thursday at Leader Bank Pavilion. He’s even known to open his sets with an electrifying cover of the Beastie Boys’ hip-hop number “Fight for Your Right.” OK, so that’s a surprise. What isn’t a surprise? That a song on his most recent album, “Killed the Cowboy,” is titled “Trouble with This Truck.”  (Thursday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m.; 290 Northern Ave., Boston; $41-$205) — Ed Symkus

Get personal with Corinne Fischer at Laugh Boston

Corrine Fischer is the co-host, with Krystyna Hutchinson, of an  insanely popular podcast  whose name we can’t repeat here, but which features discussions of and interviews with “real gents they’ve had their way with,” to quote their promotional material, along with a bevy of celebs and no shortage of comedy hijinks. You’re sure to get her typical unfiltered self when Fischer hits Laugh Boston by her lonesome, with a stand-up set honed at some of NYC’s hottest comedy clubs and whose vibe might be best captured by the title of her breakout one-woman show, “ I Stalk You .” You’ll leave the venue looking over your shoulder.  (Thursday, May 2 at 8 p.m.; 425 Summer St., Boston, $33) — Peter Chianca

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Downtown Crossing

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, the Downtown Boston Business Improvement District, in partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Boston, will hold an early celebration this Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m at the corner of Washington and Summer Street. Free and open to the public, the afternoon’s festivities include entertainment like traditional Mexican folk music and dancing, an orchestra performance, and a performance by Mexican classical guitarist  Zaira Meneses , who has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall and has been featured in  The New York Times . The celebration also includes a small artisan showcase and craft fair, along with activation by Mexican mineral water brand Topo Chico. Get a festival preview at Boston Calling Night

For the second straight year, food hall  High Street Place  is giving downtown Boston a sneak preview of this spring’s Boston Calling music festival. This Friday from 6-11 p.m. stop by  Boston Calling Night at High Street Place  to catch a performance from singer-songwriter Tori Tori as well as Bad Rabbits, a five-piece band that have been fixtures on the Boston scene since 2007 and were the first band to take the stage at the original Boston Calling back in 2013. See art on the go at Somerville Open Studios

Somerville will honor its vibrant art scene this weekend, as hundreds of artists at more than 80 of the city’s studios showcase their work during the annual Somerville Open Studios from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Wander down a street you’ve never traveled to find art you’ve never dreamed of, or, for a more structured approach,  take the free trolley  provided by the city. To see the most artists in the shortest amount of time, the Vernon Street Studios — which houses close to 140 artists between its two interconnected buildings — are your best bet. For a one-of-a-kind experience, visit the Museum of Modern Renaissance , which is typically open by appointment only. See Brookline’s local artists at Open Studios

For more than 35 years, Brookline Open Studios has showcased the city’s best artists in a mixture of professional and home studios. This Saturday, more than 50 artists will be on display at the Brookline Arts Center and on Station Street in Brookline Village from 11-5 p.m. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the event will move to Sunday. Celebrate the return of SoWa Open Market

This Sunday marks the return of the South of Washington (SoWa) district’s seasonal weekly artisan market, which regularly welcomes more than 100 vendors to 500 Harrison Ave. during the warm months. This year’s market kicks off on Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The open-air joint farmer and artisan market is open from 11-4 p.m., selling fresh produce, handmade items, art, artisan goods, and products from small businesses of all kinds. Guests can also expect food and drink trucks, lawn games, and beer gardens. In her first Eras Tour concert since the release of "The Tortured Poets Department," Taylor Swift shook up her setlist.

At Thursday night's show at the La Défense Arena in Paris, fans were treated to the inclusion of new songs from the record-breaking album released in April.

According to fan videos and news outlets, Swift performed “But Daddy I Love Him,” “So High School,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart,” all from the new release, dressed in black and white to match her 11th studio album’s visuals.

The billion-dollar Eras Tour is meant to be a career retrospective, with Swift performing more than 40 tracks reflecting 17 years of recorded music. "The Tortured Poets Department" was her first brand-new release since the tour's start.

The Paris show included several new costumes, and some edits to make room for the new material. Her “Folklore” and “Evermore” sections were woven into one, Billboard reported.
