30th PTAA Travel Tour Expo 2023

Local and international leisure travel is expected to return in 2023, and this bodes well for the recovery of the country’s travel industry. In the same year, the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA), the largest travel agency association in the Philippines, will hold its biggest Travel Tour Expo to date, the 30th PTAA Travel Tour Expo 2023.

Compared to the previous Travel Tour Expo, the expected number of visitors, exhibitors, travel packages, and entertainment events will be more exciting. The special event also celebrates its Pearl Anniversary and marks the association’s enduring dedication and hard work to the travel and tourism industry.

In November 2022, 250 exhibitors, 16 local and international airlines, and 96 hotels and resorts signed up to participate. And PTAA President Michelle Taylan expects the number to go up for businesses to sell their products and services and promote their business.

The organizers project foot traffic reaching 80,000 to 100,000 in three days, which 400 exhibitors and 1000 booths will serve. Two floors of the SMX Convention Center Manila were booked to accommodate the visitors and exhibitors. The large floor area also means more space for the exhibitors to offer travel-related products and services.

Guests can see live performances, such as cultural dance competitions between different regions and provinces in the country, participate in raffle prizes like free airfares with additional accommodations such as dining coupons and souvenirs, and expect big discounts on traveling gear from participating exhibitors.

Travelers and adventurers can also expect to have more options regarding travel fares and tour packages and count on the exhibitors to help with their travel needs in terms of destinations, schedules, friendly connecting flights, and securing travel insurance on the spot.

Travel Tour Expo was conceptualized in 1994 to promote travel-related products and services to its members. It has since expanded into a significant annual event in the travel and tourism industry that serves the traveling public’s needs. Global travel decision-makers will converge on the Miami Airport Convention Center from June 13-15, 2023 for the World Travel Expo Miami 2023 . Travel Tour Expo Brief History

The PTAA Travel Tour Expo was established in 1993 mainly as an annual market for Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) members for discounted travel deals which have grown immensely thru the years.

During those early years, it was for the sole purpose that PTAA members could have a platform to offer discounted domestic and international travel deals along with other travel related products and merchandize, but now, it is considered as the country’s biggest and the most awaited annual travel and tourism event.

Visitors number had also grown throughout the years generating a big sales volume for all the exhibitors consisting of Travel Agencies & Tour Operators, Airlines, Hotels & Resorts, Food Concessionaires, Theme Parks, Entertainment, Associations, Embassies, National Tourism Organizations including our own Department of Tourism, Cruise Liners, Shipping, Travel Insurance Companies, Travel Essentials, Foreign-based Travel Agencies & Tour Operators, and other travel related entities. Sales of exhibitors have also grown proportionately. Promotions of this event have also elicited a lot of support from media and thru our sponsors.

TTE Visitor Profile targets the Travel & Tourism Trade Practitioners; Corporate and Business Travelers; Holiday Travelers; Incentive and Convention Planners; Government and Business Leaders; Direct Buyers as well as Investors.

Briefly the PTAA Travel Tour Expo started 30 years ago in one of the halls of Megatrade in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City occupying 1, 348 square meters of space. Every year it started to grow that by 2005, it occupied all the halls of Megatrade measuring 3,878 square meters. In 2006, TTE moved to SMX Convention Center and used 4,565 square meters of their floor space. By 2014, TTE occupied the whole ground floor and another exhibition hall in the second floor totaling 11,030 square meters of selling space. In 2015, TTE then occupied the entire SMX Convention Center except for one hall in the second floor. The total space is equivalent to 13,880 square meters. But then for the succeeding years, TTE has been occupying the entire Halls and Function Rooms of the SMX Convention Center which was only disrupted during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Year 2023 is a celebration of TTE’s 30th Year, the “Pearl Anniversary”, with more than 300 Exhibitors occupying 671 booths with a total space of 11,980 square meters. This  milestone is in cooperation with the generosity and full support of the Department of Tourism (DOT); Tourism Promotions Board (TPB); Philippine Airlines; CITIBANK; AirSWIFT; United Airlines; PLDT; Hotel 101; Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA); and Guam Visitors Bureau.  Other events to look forward to during the 3-day Expo are Raffle Draws, Corporate Game Shows, Entertainment, Exhibitors and Sponsors Presentations, Cultural Dance Competition, and Conferences.

Simultaneous with the TravelTour Expo is the conduct of 8th International Travel Trade Expo (iTTE) to be held in the same venue. The iTTE is an innovation that they added to TTE’s successful event in 2015. It’s a B2B travel trade mart devoted towards tapping the growing Philippine market for overseas travel exclusive to travel agents and tour operators to network with local and international travel-related suppliers.

The first year of Travel Madness in 2012 was a big, phenomenal hit, generating at least 40,000 visitors and guests, and enabling an international credit card company to rake in PHP20 million worth of business in just three days.

TME is one of the biggest travel and trade fairs in the Philippines. It is supported by local and national tourism organizations, travel authorities, airlines, cruise lines, hotels, travel agencies, theme parks, insurance companies, schools, real property companies, and other business establishments in the retail and food industries.

TME’s successful display of destinations and cultures from around the world has made it a must-see event for travel enthusiasts.

The most recent edition, Travel Madness Expo 2023 (TME 2023),  was held from June 30 – July 2, 2023, at Halls 1-4, Ground Floor, SMX Convention Center – Manila, MOA Compound, Pasay City. It was the 10th edition organized by Travel Innovators, Inc with the theme, “Travel: We’re back in full color.”

TME 2023 was the first face-to-face edition after the COVID-19 outbreak which struck the world in the first quarter of 2020. The 9th edition was cancelled in 2020 and was replaced by an online TME in 2022.

It seemed like a daunting task to start anew. However, with all the sacrifices each one of us in the travel and trade industry has made in the past years, saying that a pot of gold is waiting for us at the end of the rainbow might be inapt. Beyond the outbreaks are breakthroughs in the field that we all know is ever evolving, but it is the one place we find ourselves coming back to. Thus, TME 2023 was bravely staged.

Moving forward, we found ourselves simply having that passion to make things better for everyone. TME 2024 now brings you, a magical experience with the combination of travel, technology, and wonderful dreams.

30th Travel Tour Expo 2023 paves way for more travel opportunities and big travel discounts

With the introduction of more long weekends in 2023, Filipinos and their families should grab this opportunity and plan their trips as early as now. Taking this on cue, the Philippine Travel Agencies Association Inc. (PTAA) once again takes the lead in building up the local tourism industry and gears up for the upcoming 30 th  Travel Tour Expo 2023 and the 8 th  International Travel Trade Expo 2023 on February 3 to 5 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City. The event also sets forth another milestone as PTAA, the largest and most prestigious travel agency association in the country, marks its 30 th  pearl anniversary with renewed vigor and enthusiasm to lift the tourism industry from its pandemic slump.

With the additional number of holidays, PTAA president, Michelle Taylan, anticipates that travelers will travel more, stay longer in destinations and bring more economic activities to the tourism spots and the communities that thrive along with the tourism industry. Thus, it is projected that this event will further boost the country's domestic travel figures and further stimulate the nation’s economic growth.

“With this year’s theme, we also proudly declare that ‘A Better and Stronger Future of Travel is Here ‘and expect the upcoming expo to bolster the tourism activities of Filipinos here and abroad. This will in turn further push the local tourism industry on the road to recovery,” says Taylan.  

Visitors are highly encouraged to attend the major travel tour event, seize these opportunities to grab exclusive deals and discounts and book their trips early during the expo. They should also look forward to the new and exciting destinations that will be introduced during the 3-day event. Whether for a reunion with friends and family members or for recreational purposes, traveling in key spots as well as lesser-known destinations in the country is one of the best ways to spend those long weekends lined up this year. This year the roster of exhibitors will be composed of airlines, travel agencies and tour operators, hotels and resorts, food concessionaires, government, national travel operators, travel and tour, association, embassies, theme parks and entertainment, cruise liners, shipping, insurance, travel essentials, travel-related entities, foreign-based travel agencies, and tour operators.

Sponsored by the Tourism Promotions Board, expected visitors include travel and tourism trade practitioners, corporate and business travelers, holiday travelers, incentives convention planners, government and business leaders, direct buyers, and investors can expect exciting raffle draws, corporate game shows, entertainment, exhibitors and sponsors presentations, cultural dance competition, and a conference to tackle updates and recent issues in domestic and international travel.

The 30 th  Travel Tour Expo 2023 opening ceremony is scheduled on the 1 st  day at 8:30am, at  10a.m the fair will be opened to the public. On the following days, the event opens as early as 9:30 a.m. Entrance Tickets are priced at P70.00 for general admission and P50.00 for seniors.

6 Travel Conferences You Must Attend in 2023 – 2024

After two years of darkened hotel ballrooms and piles of chairs locked up in conference room corners, the lights are finally switching on. The cobwebs have been swept away, experts contacted, and now the digital ads are in full swing. Travel trade shows are back and with them, enormous opportunity.

Travel agent events like conferences connect travel professionals from around the world to share knowledge, meet vendors and create new partnerships. And let’s be honest, it’s about time we abandon our desks and computer screens and see the world.

That said, below are 6 travel agents trade shows and conferences coming up in 2023-2024 to inspire you with exciting new ideas and help you expand your business vision.

1. Adventure Travel World Summit; Hokkaido, Japan

Do you sell adventure? Or are you looking to pivot into that niche?

The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) sponsors a summit every year for tour operators, travel writers, industry partners and tourism boards who are involved in the adventure travel industry. But it’s much more than a conference. 2. FITUR 2024; Madrid, Spain

FITUR is an International Tourism Trade Fair organized by IFEMA MADRID. In January 2022, Fitur hosted 600 exhibitors from 107 countries and welcomed over 100,000 visitors. Fitur serves as a meeting place for tourism professionals from around the world. It’s also the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound markets in Latin America.

Fitur targets both mass tourism and niche markets, showcasing new sectors each year as the tourism industry becomes more diverse. It also presents cutting edge technology including artificial intelligence, smart tourist destinations and big data.

Fitur will hold its 44th tourism trade show from January 24th – 28th, 2024. Targeting hotel chains, agencies, tour operators, technological companies, suppliers, transportation and institutions from around the world, Fitur 2024 will focus on how to strengthen post pandemic tourism and how to generate new business opportunities.

3. ITB 2024; Berlin, Germany

ITB takes place at the Berlin ExpoCenter City exhibition center. With more than 10,000 exhibitors, ITB is the largest convention in the travel industry. The convention presents informational stands on countries, destinations, hotels and tourism associations as well as on specialist suppliers, booking systems and transport operators. ITB is a platform for B2B travel industry leaders to meet and network.

ITB’s event will take place in Berlin from March 5th – 7th, 2024. The guest country of ITB 2023 will be Georgia.

4. IPW; San Antonio, Texas

How about a trip to the USA?

US travel exhibitors convene once a year in San Antonio, Texas for the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW international inbound travel trade show. At IPW, US travel exhibitors connect with travel buyers and media from more than 70 countries to share their products and build new business relationships. IPW showcases the American travel industry to its international visitors to promote and increase tourism in the USA.

The U.S. Travel Association’s IPW is the leading international inbound travel trade show. The next convention will take place from May 20th-24th, 2023.

5. ETOA’s Global European Marketplace (GEM); London, UK

For ETOA members only, GEM is ETOA’s annual travel trade event. Not just another tour operators’ event, here tourism suppliers meet new leads and reconnect with existing business contacts. With preset appointments based on business profile and goals, buyers and suppliers meet one-on-one throughout the event.

Participants also attend educational and networking sessions. Close to 400 global and intra-European buyers are invited to GEM’s upcoming event, which will take place from November 2nd – 3rd, 2023 in London, UK.

6. Travel Expo-Travel and Adventure Show

The Travel and Adventure Show is a traveling expo, which will meet in 9 different cities across the USA in 2023 including Chicago, Boston, NY, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Denver, San Francisco, Atlanta and Dallas.

Here you can find more than 200 exhibitors in more than 600 booths to cater to all your needs.

You need it, you can have it as you can have access to various Airlines, Travel Agencies and Tour Operators, Hotels and Resorts, Food Concessionaires, Government/ Local and National Tourist Organizations/ Travel and Tour Associations/ Embassies, Cruise Liners, Travel Insurance, Merchandisers, Travel Related Entities.

Bring your passports with you and other documents for dozens of the top Travel Agencies in the Philippines will be on hand to help you process your tourist VISA’s to your dream destiination.

Best to come early for crowd favorites like Cebu Pacific Air, Cathay Pacific, Philippine Airlines and 2GO Travel will set up shop at the expo.

The Travel Expo will be Open to the public on:

·       FEBRUARY 3 from 10 AM to 8 PM

·       FEBRUARY 4 and 5 from 9:30 AM to 8 PM

Special Access will be given to CITI and UNION BANK Credit Card holders for they can have the whole premises for 1 HOUR starting 9 AM to 10 AM on the FEBRUARY 3. 2023.
