President Droupadi Murmu witnessed an operational demonstration by the Indian Navy off the coast of Goa on Thursday, marking her first visit to Navy ships at sea.

Upon her arrival at INS Hansa, the naval air station, President Murmu was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour comprising 150 personnel.

She then boarded the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which was operational alongside 15 other frontline warships and submarines.

President Murmu witnessed a series of naval exercises, including deck-based fighter take-offs and landings, missile firing drills, submarine manoeuvres, and a flypast featuring over 30 aircraft. The demonstration concluded with a traditional steam-past of warships.

President Droupadi Murmu witnesses Navy ops off Goa coast

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday witnessed the operational demonstrations by the Indian Navy off the coast of Goa on aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

She arrived at INS Hansa – the Naval Air Station at Goa – from where she boarded a helicopter to embark the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at sea off Goa.

The warship was operating in the company of 15 frontline warships and submarines of the Indian Navy. This was President Murmu’s maiden visit to Indian Navy ships at sea. The President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed forces and was provided a briefing on the Indian Navy’s role and charter and the concept of operations.

The President thereafter witnessed several naval operations, including deck-based fighter take-offs and landings, missile firing drills from a warship, submarine operations, flypasts of over 30 aircraft, and culminating with traditional steam-past of warships.

The President also interacted with the crew of INS Vikrant over lunch, which was followed by her address to the fleet that was broadcast to all units at sea.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and the Western Mavy Commander Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh were at the event.

President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Chhattisgarh on two-day visit

This is the second visit of murmu to chhattisgarh after assuming charge as president in july 2022.

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday arrived in Chhattisgarh on a two-day visit during which she will attend convocation ceremonies of four higher education institutions.

Murmu was welcomed by Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and senior officials at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur after she landed in a special aircraft shortly after 11 am, government officials said.

This is the second visit of Murmu to Chhattisgarh after assuming charge as President in July 2022.

The president proceeded to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where she will be the chief guest at its second convocation function. She will then visit the Raj Bhavan (Governor House).

Later, the President will attend the 14th convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur as its chief guest.

Murmu will also visit Purkhauti Muktangan' (a tribal museum) in Nava Raipur where she will interact with local tribals in the evening.

Subsequently, she will proceed to the Raj Bhavan for her night halt.

On Saturday morning, Murmu will offer prayers at the Jagannath temple in Gayatri Nagar here before heading to Bhilai in the Durg district for various events.

She will be the chief guest at the fourth convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai, an official said.

Murmu will later return to the state capital and attend the third convocation ceremony of Pt Deendayal Memorial Health Science and Ayush University in Nava Raipur as the chief guest, he added.

President murmu to witness naval operations onboard aircraft carrier ins vikrant today.

New Delhi [India], November 7 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu will witness the Indian Navy's multi-domain operations at sea aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant today.

"The Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu will embark indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and witness 'Naval Operations' at sea on November 7, 2024," a Ministry of Defence release read.

Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff, will receive the Hon'ble President at INS Hansa (Naval Air Station at Goa) and present a 150-men Ceremonial Guard of Honour. Soon thereafter, the Hon'ble President will embark the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant at sea off Goa.

This is the maiden sailing of the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu onboard aircraft carrier INS Vikrant to witness the full spectrum of multi-domain naval operations.
