Biografie - Iron Maiden

Die britische Heavy-Metal-Band Iron Maiden ist nicht nur eine feste Größe unter Heavy-Metal-Fans, sondern gehört auch zu den erfolgreichsten Acts im Musikbusiness. Seit 1975 begeistern sie Rockfans, die es härter und schneller mögen. Die Gruppe um das charakteristische Bandmaskottchen „Eddie“ zeigt auch nach über 40 Jahren keine Ermüdungserscheinungen. Wer Iron-Maiden-Tickets sucht, sollte jedoch schnell sein: Die Heavy-Metal-Band spielt vor zuverlässig ausverkauften Rängen.

Steiler Karrierestart

Never change a running system : Kaum eine Redewendung trifft besser auf den musikalischen Stil und das Erfolgsrezept von Iron Maiden zu. Gegründet wird die Band am 25. Dezember 1975 vom Bassisten Steve Harris. Die Ur-Besetzung besteht damals noch aus dem Sänger Paul Mario Day, den Gitarristen Dave Sullivan und Terry Rance und Drummer Ron Matthews. Ihre ersten fünf Alben erscheinen im Jahresrhythmus ab 1980.

Ihr Debütalbum „Iron Maiden“ mit noch rauem, punkigem Stil schafft es direkt auf Platz 4 der UK-Charts im Jahr 1980. Obwohl Hard Rock und Heavy Metal in den 1980er-Jahren von New Wave und Disco abgelöst werden, bleibt sich die Band jedoch treu und ihre Mitglieder zeigen sich auf jeder Iron-Maiden-Tour mit langen Haaren, Lederkluft und martialischer Performance .

Treu bleibt der Band auch das berühmte Bandmaskottchen „Eddie“, das seit dem ersten Album das Cover-Artwork jeder Veröffentlichung ziert und bei keiner Iron-Maiden-Show als Bühnenkulisse fehlen darf. Ein Wendepunkt für die Band ist das Jahr 1982 und das dritte Album „The Number Of The Beast“. Bruce Dickinson ersetzt den damaligen Frontmann Paul Di’Anno und gilt mit seiner sowohl kraftvollen Kopf- als auch Bruststimme für Fans als das melodische Herz der Heavy-Metal-Band.

Iron Maiden spielen sich an die Spitze

Mit Dickinson als neuem Sänger und ihrem dritten Album klettert die Band direkt auf Platz 1 der UK-Charts. Mit „The Beast On The Road“ treten sie 1982 ihre zweitlängste Welttournee überhaupt an, bestehend aus 188 Shows in 18 Ländern in nur zehn Monaten. Mit den Folgealben „Powerslave“ und „Somewhere In Time“ können sie an den Erfolg anknüpfen. Weitere Nummer-Eins-Alben und die gigantische „World Slavery Tour“ von 1984 bis 1985 zementieren ihren Ruf als wahre Meister des Heavy Metal.

Bruce Dickinson tritt zwischenzeitlich aus der Gruppe aus und wird von 1994 bis 1998 von Blaze Bayley ersetzt. Da Bayley aufgrund seiner Stimmlage jedoch nur wenig Zuspruch von Fans erhält, kehrt Dickinson mit dem Album „Brave New World“ im Jahr 2000 schließlich zur Band zurück. Ununterbrochen auf Tour und als Headliner von Rockfestivals wie Rock am Ring und Rock im Park sind Iron Maiden bis heute eine Band, um die niemand herumkommt, der guten Heavy Metal liebt .

Eine Band, die Musikgeschichte schreibt

Obwohl Iron Maiden im Laufe der Zeit mit Keyboards und Synthesizern experimentieren und Progressive-Rock-Elemente integrieren, bleibt ihr markanter Stil über die Jahre unverkennbar. Dazu zählen markante Riffs und verzerrte Powerchords ebenso wie Rhythmik-Wechsel und eingängige Gitarrenfiguren . Auch textlich beziehen sie sich wiederkehrend auf Motive aus der Weltgeschichte, der Literatur und des Kinos.

Übrigens geht der Ursprung des Bandnamens auf das Folterinstrument der Eisernen Jungfrau zurück. Von diesem hörte Bandgründer Harris zum ersten Mal im Film „The Man In The Iron Mask“ – einer Geschichte, in der es um den „Sonnenkönig“ Ludwig XIV. geht.

Ein nicht ganz unpassender Bezug, denn mit etwa 41 Studio- und Live-Alben, mehreren Platten mit Platinstatus, über 100 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern, zahllosen Grammys und ausverkauften Shows weltweit sind die Heavy-Metal-Titanen ein strahlender und unvergänglicher Stern am Musikhimmel.

Wir hatten für 378,- VIP Tikets (alles anere war ausverkauft und ich wollte unbedingt Maiden sehen) Was wir dort geboten bekommen haben war ein Witz: Ein Merch-Paket, bei dem nur das T-shirt geil war, alles andere war billiger Chinaschrott. Sage und schreibe 2!!! Getränke in 3 Stunden und ein paar kalte Wraps gab es zur Verköstigung. Die Sitzplätze waren gut. Die groß angekündigte Party war ein fades rumsitzen. Sorry aber das ist billige Abzocke, bei Sport VIP's gibt wenigstens Essen und Trinken ohne Limit. Also ab in die Halle Pommes und ein Bier gekauft (damit ich wenigsten auch einen Maiden Becher mit nach hause nehmen konnte). Das Konzert ansich war ok, ich hätte mir viel mehr alte Lieder gewünscht, nach einer Pflichtzugabe war es schnell vorbei. Schade...

Iron Maiden sind die Besten!

Ich war am Samstag auf dem Maiden-Konzert. Ich fand das Konzert großartig. Maiden haben es mal wieder gezeigt, dass sie Legenden des Metal sind und noch lange nicht zum alten Eisen zählen. Kaum mit Worten zu beschreiben. Jedoch zu der Festhalle, (in welcher ich zum ersten Mal) war, muss ich leider negatives berichten. Es war zu eng. Ich war relativ weit vorne, erste Welle, aber ich habe bemerkt, wie eng es war. Als sich einige anderen Getränke gekauft hatte, war es erträglicher. Die Getränkestände sind katastrophal. Wenn man auf einem Konzert der Lieblingsband ist, würde man sich auch freuen, Konzertbecher mit Pfand zu haben, anstatt diesen Plastikbechern, welche achtlos auf dem Boden geworfen worden. Die Getränke sind zu teuer... Zudem ist die Festhalle sehr klein. Zu klein. Und was mich am meisten wurmt ist, dass einer von der Security nach dem Konzert noch nicht mal uns Maiden-Fans kurz auf die Treppe vor der Festhalle setzten lässt. Nach mehr als 2 Stunden stehen, tun einem die Füße weh. Vorallem, wenn man extra fürs Konzert Schuhe mit Maiden-Motiv trägt, die jedoch eher unbequem sind, da zu selten getragen. Zudem war die Akustik leider nicht ganz optimal auf Iron Maiden abgestimmt. Doch all das tat mir keinen Abbruch an dem Konzert. Vor allem, Iron Maiden ist die beste Band, die es je gegeben hat. Bruce Dickinsons Gesang mit seiner Airraidsiren lässt das Metal-Herz höher schlagen. Das Gitarrentrio bestehend aus Janik Gers, Dave Murrey und Adrian Smith klang famos, Steve Harris zeigt was er am Bass drauf hat und Nico Mc'Brain trommelt was das Zeug hält und alles zusammen ist eine Meisterleistung des Metal. Es ist eine Schande, dass Iron Maiden nur ein Konzert in Frankfurt hatten dieses Jahr. Maiden haben es noch immer auf dem Kasten und gottverdammt ich bin sowas von glücklich auf dem Konzert gewesen zu sein. Meine Maiden-Karte klebe ich ins Fotoalbum, mein Maiden-Shirt wird in Ehren gehalten, meine Maiden-Flagge schwinge ich wie Bruce Dickinson auf der Bühne zu "The Trooper" und beim nächsten Konzert schleppe ich meine Schwester hin, damit sie endlich Maiden-Fan wird und aufhört mich dafür zu ärgern, Iron Maiden Fan zu sein! ;) Das Konzert war großartig und ich hoffe auf mehr Konzerte! Up the Irons! 🤘

Scream for me my Maiden!

Hammer Event! Hier hat einfach alles gepasst! Vom Einlass bis zur Atmosphäre einfach ein Erlebnis! Die Security war ein bisschen schräg drauf aber man konnte auch mit denen gut auskommen. Bruce ist immer noch Songfest und die Riffs sind einfach die besten die man Live hören kann. Scream for me my Maiden! Muss man erlebt haben.

The future past tour 2023, olympic hall.

They have been on the road for almost half a century, tireless and eternally young: the heavy metal legends Iron Maiden. After a twelve-year break, the tough Englishmen are now coming back to the Olympic Hall - twice, at a double concert on 31 July and 1 August 2023. The focus will be on the songs from their latest hit album "Senjutsu" and their cult long player "Somewhere in Time" from 1986.

They rocked the Olympic Hall for the first time in 1980, back then with their big hits like "Sanctuary" and "Running Free". The last time Iron Maiden came here was in 2011, and now the metal legends around singer Bruce Dickinson, guitarist Dave Murray and bassist Steve Harris are returning to the park. Their double concert will revolve around two very special albums: "Senjutsu", the band's 17th and most recent studio album, which, like its three predecessors "A Matter of Life and Death", "The Final Frontier" and "The Book of Souls", made it to No. 1 in the German charts - and reached No. 3 in the Billboard 200, the highest ranking for an Iron Maiden album in the USA.

In addition, the legendary classic "Somewhere in Time", the epic sixth studio album from 1986, will also take centre stage on the tour. "We decided to resurrect the album because this tour wasn't included in the many restrospective history tours we've played over the years," says Steve Harris. And manager Ron Smallwood adds, "We find the combination of the two albums very exciting. It's going to be a very special tour for old and for new fans of Iron Maiden."

Gründungsmitglied und Bassist Steve Harris sagt: „Nach der Veröffentlichung unseres letzten Albums Senjutsu haben wir die aktuelle Legacy of the Beast Tour ein wenig aktualisiert, indem wir die Show mit den ersten 3 Songs des Albums eröffnet haben, mit dem Bühnenbild des Japanese Palace. Da es nicht viel Sinn macht, dies für eine Senjutsu-Albumtour zu wiederholen, haben wir über andere Optionen nachgedacht und uns entschieden, Somewhere In Time wieder aufleben zu lassen, da diese Tour nicht in den verschiedenen retrospektiven Geschichtstouren enthalten war, die wir über die Jahre gespielt haben.

Tour für alte und neue Fans

Wir haben die Shows in Hannover, Frankfurt und München auf der Legacy-Tour sehr genossen und können es kaum erwarten, wiederzukommen und auch nach Dortmund, wo wir seit 2016 nicht mehr gespielt haben, und Leipzig, das wir zuletzt 2005 besucht haben.“ Manager Rod Smallwood fügt hinzu: „Die Kombination der beiden Alben finden wir sehr aufregend. Wir wissen, dass die Fans die epischen Stücke von Senjutsu zum ersten Mal live hören wollen, und wir denken, dass die Kombination mit einem kultigen Album wie Somewhere In Time eine weitere ganz besondere Tour für alte und neue Fans sein wird!

Relative Intimität

Die Tour begann eigentlich im Mai 2018 in Tallin, Estland, die erste von 139 Shows in 33 Ländern. Bis zur letzten Show in Tampa, Florida am 27. Oktober dieses Jahres wird die Band vor über DREI MILLIONEN Fans auf dieser epischen Welttournee gespielt haben. Der Support für die deutschen Shows wird zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt bekannt gegeben. Weitere Termine für THE FUTURE PAST TOUR werden noch bekannt gegeben, allerdings werden keine weiteren deutschen Städte hinzukommen.

Zusatztermine

Aufgrund der rasanten Vorverkaufsentwicklung in Deutschland wurden zwei Zusatztermine in der Westfalenhalle in Dortmund am 26. Juli 2023 und in der Olympiahalle in München am 1. August 2023 angekündigt.Der Vorverkauf für die Deutschland-Termine der „The Future Past“ Tour 2023 startete am 26. Oktober 2022 mit einer beeindruckenden Fan-Reaktion.

Iron maiden announces 'the future past' 2023 european tour.

IRON MAIDEN  will bring a new tour to Europe in the summer of 2023, including arena shows in the U.K. and Ireland.  “The Future Past Tour”  will feature previously unperformed songs from the band’s most recent studio album,  “Senjutsu” , along with a focus on 1986’s iconic  “Somewhere In Time”  record, plus other classic cuts.

Tickets go on sale from Friday, October 14 at 9 a.m. via LiveNation.co.uk. As always, there will be an exclusive pre-sale for  IRON MAIDEN  fan club members.

IRON MAIDEN  founding member and bassist  Steve Harris  says: “Following the release of our latest album,  ‘Senjutsu’ , we updated the current  ‘Legacy Of The Beast’  tour a little by opening the show with the first three songs from it, with the Japanese Palace stage set. As it doesn’t make a lot of sense to repeat this for a  ‘Senjutsu’  album tour, we thought about other options and we’ve decided to revisit  ‘Somewhere In Time’  as that tour didn’t feature in the various retrospective history tours we’ve played over the years. They were based on our ’80s concert videos and sadly we did not film that tour (blame the manager!!). We have had lots of requests from fans over the years for many tracks on it so we are now going to play them, plus, of course, a few others we know you will like! It will also be particularly satisfying to finally get to play some of the more epic tracks on  ‘Senjutsu’ , it’s been a long wait! 2023 is going to be an exciting time and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again in the U.K., Ireland and around Europe”.

IRON MAIDEN  manager  Rod Smallwood  adds: “This combination of the two albums we feel is very exciting. We know fans want to hear those epic cuts on  ‘Senjutsu’  for the first time live and we think that by combining it with an iconic album like  ‘Somewhere In Time’  it will make for another really special tour for fans old and new! Of course, for a new album tour in Europe and the UK we will go back largely to the relative intimacy of arenas and we know fans will be very happy about that too!”

IRON MAIDEN  is currently in North America in the final stages of its spectacular  “Legacy Of The Beast”  world tour, interrupted for two years by COVID-19, with many shows rescheduled twice. The tour actually started in Tallin, Estonia in May 2018, the first of 139 shows in 33 countries. By the last show in Tampa, Florida on October 27, this year the band will have played to over three million fans on this epic world tour.

Support on the U.K. and Ireland tour will be announced at a later date. The shows are:

IRON MAIDEN  hadn’t released any fresh music since 2015’s  “The Book Of Souls”  LP, which was recorded in late 2014 in Paris, France with  Shirley .

“The Book Of Souls”  was the longest  MAIDEN  album, clocking in at 92 minutes, with lyrics heavily based in the themes of death, reincarnation, the soul and mortality.

How to Get Tickets to Iron Maiden’s 2023 “Future Past Tour”

The new UK tour will honor their 1986 LP Somewhere in Time

Iron Maiden are still deep into their 2022 “Legacy of the Beast Tour,” and yet tickets are incoming for the English heavy metal pioneers’ next outing, a 2023 European trek dubbed the “Future Past Tour.” The performances will feature a fresh setlist that will highlight both their 2021 album Senjutsu as well as their 1986 under-sung classic, Somewhere in Time .

In a statement, bassist Steve Harris expanded on the process of choosing which LP to pair with their latest record, saying, “We’ve decided to revisit Somewhere in Time as that tour didn’t feature in the various retrospective history tours we’ve played over the years.” He added, “It will also be particularly satisfying to finally get to play some of the more epic tracks on Senjutsu , it’s been a long wait!”

What Is Iron Maiden’s Next Tour?

Iron Maiden will conclude their massive 2022 “Legacy of the Beast Tour” with a final run of October shows that include Toronto on October 11th, Newark, New Jersey on October 21st, and Washington, D.C. on October 23rd. Their performance in Tampa, Florida on October 27th will not only mark the end of the North American run, but also the band’s final show in 2022.

The English rockers will reemerge in 2023 for their “Future Past Tour,” which opens in Krakow, Poland on June 13th. The band will also hit Zurich and Dublin before commencing on a full UK leg that starts in Glasgow on June 26th. They’ll close out the month in Leeds and Manchester, then stop in Manchester, Nottingham, and Birmingham during the first week of July. They headline London’s O2 Arena on July 7th to close the UK run, then resume their European trek in Amsterdam on July 11th. After a show in Antwerp, Belgium, the “Future Past Tour” wraps in Milan on July 15th.

Openers and supporting acts have not yet been unveiled for Iron Maiden’s “Future Past Tour.” However, a message posted via the band’s social media accounts during the new tour reveal confirmed that those details will be “announced at a later date.”

How Can I Get Tickets for Iron Maiden’s 2023 Tour?

Tickets for Iron Maiden’s  ongoing”Legacy of the Beast Tour” are available until the tour concludes in late October. Meanwhile, pre-sale tickets for the 2023 “Future Past Tour” will be first available to Iron Maiden Fan Club members beginning October 11th at 4 a.m. ET (9 a.m. in the UK). A Live Nation pre-sale will open on Thursday, October 13th at 4 a.m. ET, and general public on-sale follows on Friday, October 14th at 4 a.m. ET.

Back...with The Future! Iron Maiden: The Future Past Tour

Following their spectacular performances this year at the recent Power Trip Festival in California, in Western Canada and throughout Europe, iconic British band  IRON MAIDEN  will be returning to the United States and Canada with  THE FUTURE PAST TOUR  next year  with a stop at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, November 1, 2024.

Tickets will be available starting with an exclusive IRON MAIDEN fan club presale beginning on Tuesday, October 31. The general on-sale will begin on Friday, November 3   at 10 am on wellsfargocenterphilly.com . I conic British heavy metal veterans Iron Maiden have added a Phoenix date to the North American leg of the Future Past Tour, playing Footprint Center on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, with Mongolian metal greats the Hu.

No further shows will be announced for North America.

The Hu issued a statement saying, “Iron Maiden is the master of the masters of rock music. They are one of the biggest inspirations to us! The way that they create and perform their music is majestic and we still remember the first time we heard their ‘Trooper’ song and felt the deep energy behind each word.”

Iron Maiden last played Phoenix on the Legacy of the Beast Tour in 2019 .

This will be their 17th performance in the Valley since playing Memorial Coliseum on June 4, 1981, as part of the Killer World Tour, their first time in the U.S.

Future Past Tour features songs from 'Senjetsu,' 'Somewhere in Time'

The Future Past Tour, which features songs from Maiden’s latest studio release, “Senjutsu,” and 1986’s seminal “Somewhere in Time” alongside other fan favorites, played to more than 750,000 fans at more than 30 sold-out shows across Europe in the summer of 2023.

They also played Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver alongside their highly praised appearance at California’s Power Trip Festival in October, which had Consequence raving “Iron Maiden set the bar high at Power Trip” and The Desert Sun saying they “delivered a hard-hitting performance to open the festival on a high note."

The tour features one of the most spectacular stage productions of Maiden’s career.
