 Enjoy the true beauty of South Melbourne Beach, that is unseen by most visitors. Treat your guests and yourself to a two-hour wildlife tour on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon. Observe Dolphins, manatees and numerous species of wading birds in their natural environment, as we cruise through the pristine canals of the mullet Creek islands and surrounding lagoon. Our boat will accommodate up to six passengers.

Your trip will depart from Honest John's Fish Camp ( an historic government Homestead established in 1887 ) located approximately 6 miles North of Sebastian inlet just off of state road A1A. 

Beautiful Sites

 In addition to a 2 hr. Wildlife tours we also offer, half-day trips and full-day trips. You may also have an interest in combining a wildlife tour with a stop at one of our local water front restaurants or use the opportunity to look at waterfront real estate. 

Satisfaction Guaranteed

 The cost for a two-hour wildlife tour is $40 per person and $30 for children under 12. We need a minimum of two people to make the trip. Trips are available every day except on Tuesdays. In the summertime it is best to book a trip early in the day(less chance of a thunderstorm) you can book a trip right up to the day you would like to go but booking in advance will assure you an opening.

Turkey Creek Sanctuary

Beautiful park on the mainland with several miles of trails, it has good bird and butterfly watching and great trails for walking, including a boardwalk along Turkey Creek. Park has a nature center. Spend at least an hour up to several hours if you want to walk all the trails.

Lake Washington

Lake Washington is the largest lake in Brevard County, Florida at 4,362 acres. The lake may have been named for the U.S. Deputy Surveyor Colonel Henry Washington, after he surveyed the area in 1844.

Air Boat Rides Melbourne operates tours on Lake Washington beginning at sunrise which is a great way to start your day.

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge

Awesome place to watch birds that is about 1 ¼ hours away. Black Point Wildlife Drive has fantastic bird watching by car. They also have bus tours with knowledgeable volunteer drivers several days a week at 9 am in the winter months. Call ahead (321) 861-5601 to check on availability and reserve a spot. The cost for the bus tour is $5 per person. There is a place to view manatees on the refuge, and several hiking trails including one where you are likely to see the endangered Florida Scrub Jay. There is a visitor center. Plan on spending at least a half a day there, and bring a lunch as there is no food service on the refuge, just a gift shop with some beverages for purchase.

Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands (a/k/a Viera Wetlands)

Great bird watching by foot or car. Port-a-potty available. Plan on at least an hour.

McKee Botanical Garden

18 acres of lush jungle landscape with more than10,000 plants. Listed on the National Register of Historic places and recognized by the Garden Conservancy as a preservation project of national significance.

Orlando Wetlands Park

Good bird watching, but on foot (no vehicles). They do have trams you can ride around the wetlands on Fridays and Saturdays. Education center. This park is more geared to adults and not children.

Barrier Island Ecosystem Center

Beautiful new nature center on the beach.

Distance: 20 minutes Admission: Free

Enchanted Forest

A flagship nature sanctuary within Brevard County with a diversity of habitats. Has a nature center.

Sebastian Inlet State Park

State park with beaches on Atlantic Ocean and Indian River, hiking trails, fishing, bird watching, and camping. The park also contains the McLarty Treasure Museum and the Sebastian Fishing Museum. Gift shop and snack bar.

Environmental Learning Center

Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge

Free wildlife tours (call for reservations 772-581-5557 Ext. 2) Wednesdays during the winter from 8 am to 10 am. Not as much to see as some of the other parks, but it is historically significant as the first National Wildlife Refuge.

In order to participate in this program, one:

• Must not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit for the vessel (450 lbs. tandem kayak or 275 lbs. single kayak).
• Must have the ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
• Must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.
• Must have the ability to enter and exit the kayak independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment.
• Must have At least one person in the kayak with the ability to move it through the water in a stable manner and return it to the launching area.
• Must have the ability to tolerate 80 degree Fahrenheit water and bright sunlight for 1.5 hours.

In the event of capsize, one:

• Must have the ability to get out from under the watercraft independently.
• Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal flotation device.

Join our crew aboard  The Opa and The Lola for a two-hour Eco Tour discovering wildlife in one of the most ecologically biodiverse ecosystems in the Northern Hemisphere. The Indian River Lagoon is home to over 4,200 different species of plants, animals, and fish.

What To Expect

In the water, you may see Lagoon Bottle-Nosed Dolphins frolicking in pods or chasing bait fish. Cruise by a West Indies Manatee as she lounges in her habitat.  Spotted Eagle Rays breaching the surface, alligators cruising by, Moon Jellyfish propelling themselves along, and the world’s oldest living dinosaur, the Horseshoe Crab, cruising the bottom are all sights you may see on your tour.

Look into the sky and watch majestic Ospreys dive for fish. See the beautiful hues of pink as an endangered Roseate Spoonbill glides by. Hear the sounds of a Great Blue Heron squawking to its mate. Nesting American Bald Eagles will watch as you cruise by. Our knowledgeable crew will point out those birds and many more along the tour.

Keep your eyes peeled as you cruise along the shorelines for panthers, bobcats, wild boars, and other local land wildlife as they meander to the river for a drink. Cameras are encouraged so you can document the marvelous wildlife views of the Space Coast.

On your tour, you’ll be crossing through the southern edge of Mosquito Lagoon. You will be able to view some local interest points, including Kennedy Space Center and the Port Canaveral Lock System, which allows waterway travel to the Atlantic Ocean.
