What size truck you need to tow a 25-foot RV depends on the trailer’s weight. Length does not dictate tow ratings. Just because a trailer is shorter doesn’t necessarily mean it’s really light.

Travel trailers in the 20–25-foot range generally average between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds, which can be easily towed by a 1/2-ton truck or large SUV.

So, is there a drawback to this particular compact RV? You may find that the necessary additions to make this RV special are too expensive, especially when you consider that some floor plans have tent pop-outs, similar to the Rockwood Roo. This is definitely something to keep in mind as you shop so that you don’t overspend!

Most Unique: Airstream Basecamp

• Stunning and unique design
• Plenty of storage, inside and out
• Everything you need is conveniently laid out
• High price point with plenty of features to add

Starting at $46k for a diminutive 16 feet long, the Basecamp from Airstream is not a great choice for everyone. However, the uniqueness of this RV makes everyone turn their head to see it, as it is unlike anything else currently on the market. Let’s take a closer look at it now.

Available in a 16 and a 19 foot long floor plan, the Basecamp is perfect for the young couple or adventurer seeking something easy to drive and maintain. Clad in Airstream’s iconic aluminum finish , the Basecamp is a silver bullet complete with a huge picture window at the front of it.

One of the great things about the Basecamp is its flexible interior. You have two bench seats or a dinette (depending on the floor plan) that convert into a variety of other arrangements. You can sleep up to four people in the 19 foot long plan, or two in the 16 footer, and having the option to convert your seating area however you please is a huge plus.

You have a full kitchen and bathroom onboard this RV, with unique pass-thru outdoor shower conveniences. Plus, the kitchen has easy to maintain countertops and cabinets, offering you durability and plenty of storage. The same can be said for the antibacterial and water-resistant upholstery found throughout!

You can get an outdoor rear gear rack for anything that doesn’t fit in the overhead compartments inside of your RV. And the Basecamp is ready to go wherever you want with a heated underbelly and holding tanks, with the option to add solar.

Besides the price, there really isn’t a catch on this one, if you don’t need to sleep many people. However, after you add on all of the features you want, you may find this one simply out of your budget!

Best for Boondocking: Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX

• Full of boondocking features
• Tankless water heater and water saving system
• High price and fairly heavy

Awarded the Top Debut RV award by RVBusiness in 2021, the Micro Minnie FLX from Winnebago is packed full of tech. Starting at $64k, the Micro Minnie FLX is priced high, but unlike the Basecamp, it has everything you need to boondock right away. Let’s check it out!

With five floor plans, almost all of which are under 25 feet (one is at 25 and a half feet), you should have a number of options to choose from. You can sleep up to five in this rig too , though keep in mind that this may limit the number of days that you can comfortably boondock.

However, the Micro Minnie FLX was made to be off-grid for five days, an impressive feat for an RV of this size. While the price point may be high, there’s a reason, and it’s likely to accommodate all of these boondocking features into the standard purchase price.

Not only do you have all the solar capabilities you might be searching for, but you have extra batteries to store that power. Plus, you have a tankless water heater, an inverter, and a fresh water reclamation system, unique to the micro Minnie.

The interior design of this RV prioritizes your living areas, giving you plenty of space in the kitchen and living room. While the upholstery and cabinet choices aren’t numerous, everything is built to last and cleans up with ease.

All of the floorplans weigh roughly around 5,000 pounds, which may be too heavy for some of you. However, complete with rugged tires and a capable chassis, you can expect this travel trailer to come along for the ride with ease. Definitely consider this travel trailer, especially if you’re a huge fan of technology!

Most Luxurious: Airstream Bambi

• Small and compact size offers plenty of storage
• Lightweight and attractive
• Great interior design
• High purchase price with the need for additions

Airstream knows the importance of packing everything into a small package, and the Bambi is no exception. This travel trailer comes in Airstream’s fantastic aluminum package, but it also features a number of luxurious amenities, inside and out. Let’s take a closer look at this luxury travel trailer now. 

Starting just under $60k, the Bambi isn’t the most budget-friendly option on this list. However, you get a number of amenities and a striking design, all included standard. There are four floor plans all 22 feet or smaller, and all of these aluminum beauties weigh under 4,000 pounds, making them easy to tow too.

The smallest floor plan option available for the Bambi has a wet bath as opposed to a dry bath, but all other options have residential bathrooms on board. There are dedicated queen-size beds on all floor plans as well, with a convertible dinette area for extra guests. 

The kitchen area is well-appointed, with an all-electric refrigerator and a pull-out countertop to give you more prep space. Plus, there are two different interior design options with easy to clean and maintain upholstery. The entire space feels elegant and bright, giving you a pleasant space to return to after a long day outside. 

Everything in an Airstream is built to last, which means that this travel trailer is a sound investment. It has solar prep on the rooftop as well if you want to take this RV boondocking. You can easily add solar panels as well as additional house batteries, though this will of course come at an extra cost.

Besides the price, this RV may not work well for you given its size. You can’t sleep more than four people on board this RV, which may not suit your family or lifestyle. However, if you are looking for an iconic Airstream RV that is lightweight and easy to drive, the Bambi may suit you well! 

Most Storage: Winnebago Hike

• Compact and lightweight
• Fair initial purchase price
• Needs some additions to really shine

Starting at $38k, the Winnebago Hike is significantly less than our previous option from Winnebago. However, this doesn’t mean that it is skimping on features. Full of great boondocking perks as well as storage, this compact travel trailer may be the one for you. Let’s check it out!

The reason that the Hike ranked as our best option in terms of storage is that the entire exterior offers you many different storage options. There is a bike and kayak storage exoskeleton included on the roof of this travel trailer as well as the sides, giving you loads of options for where you want to keep things. 

All of the five available floor plans are 25 feet and under, giving you plenty of options to choose from. There are some double axle travel trailer floor plans, but the single axles will offer you a lighter weight as well as less to maintain in the long run. Plus, all of these layouts have slide outs, giving you even more interior living space. 

Another great reason to choose this option for Winnebago is the fact that the exterior is entirely rugged. Winnebago has made this travel trailer with a raised chassis, off-road tires, and a protected underbelly so that you can take this compact beauty anywhere that you want to go.

While it isn’t included standard, you can also get the Hike equipped with a fantastic all-weather package as well as a solar package. However, these options will cost a bit extra, and some travel trailer options on this list include these features as standard. In addition, the interior design of this RV may leave much to be desired, so you may find another option on this list that suits you better! 

Best for Couples: Heartland RV Mallard Pathfinder

• Great price, especially for design options
• Queen bed for couples with bunk bed options
• Relatively unknown RV brand name

While you can sleep up to 6 people in some of the floor plans offered by the Mallard Pathfinder, this compact travel trailer seems ideal for couples for a number of reasons. With an initial purchase price of $35k, this rig from Heartland RV is a great choice for the adventurous couple. Let’s check out why this might be now. 

There are only three available floor plans for this particular travel trailer, but all of them are under 23 feet in length. This gives you plenty of space if you are a couple, especially when you consider that two of the three floor plans have bunk beds. This gives you extra storage as well as the option to bring guests, should you want to. 

One of the main reasons why you may want to consider this travel trailer is its interior design. While it comes in neutral tones that suit a variety of lifestyles, the Mallard Pathfinder has a sense of luxury and elegance to it, without breaking the bank. Some special features include tile detailing in the shower, lovely laminate flooring, and special touches throughout. 

If you are more concerned about the overall construction of this RV, it’s built with Azdel walls and all terrain tires, giving you peace of mind and the confidence that you’ve made a good investment. Plus, Heartland RV offers a number of warranty plans to continue supporting you after your purchase. 

You even get solar panels and a completely walkable roof included in this price. However, you may consider another option given the fact that this RV manufacturer is not the most well-known. While they have a lot to offer you, you may prefer something with a bit more notoriety and customer support. 

Made for Full-Time Living: Grand Design Imagine XLS

• Multiple floor plans that are lightweight
• 4 season and solar ready
• Wonderful interior design for full timers
• High price point makes this one an investment

Grand Design is a fantastic RV manufacturer for a number of reasons. They are extremely popular with their fifth wheel models in particular, often creating options that are ideal for full-time living as well as serious RVers. The Imagine XLS is a travel trailer with a lot to offer, especially for those of you considering full-time living . Let’s check it out! 

While there are only two floor plans that’s or under 25 feet long, all 6 options are under 28 feet, giving you a bit more wiggle room should you need it. However, even the most compact of the models has a lot to offer, including spacious living areas and plenty of features to add on. Plus, all of the available floor plans under the Imagine XLS line are 5,000 pounds or less! 

While all of these floor plans are still too small to include a washer and dryer on board, there are a number of other full-time features that you may be interested in. You have plenty of solar panels and electricity options to power both off-grid or connected living, as well as a reliable fiberglass exterior that should last. 

You have a beautiful interior to enjoy as well, something that should definitely interest you if you want to live in an RV full-time. The design is unique and the layouts are great for living full-time, offering you plenty of flow as well as sightlines so that you can talk to your significant other or other travel partners. 

Grand Design also gives you a few mandatory packages to add on, including solar, 4 season living, and much more. All of these are designed to better support full-time living in your travel trailer, and it is definitely something to keep in mind! So what’s the catch? It has to be the initial purchase price, but if you want to live in a travel trailer full time, it’s a good idea to invest. 

Best Starter Travel Trailer: Coachmen Apex Nano

• Plenty of lightweight and compact floor plans 
• Fair budget-friendly price
• Add-ons make this rig versatile
• Boring interior design

If you are just getting started in terms of your RV purchases or perhaps you are just transitioning into a travel trailer, the Coachmen Apex Nano is a great RV to start with. It is budget-friendly as well as thoughtful in its design, but what else might it have to offer you? Let’s check it out! 

With 10 floor plans, all under 4,000 pounds and 25 feet in length, you have loads of options to choose from. This is often reassuring to first-time RVers because it gives you plenty of floor plans to compare and contrast. It often leads to learning what you like and don’t like in an RV!

If you haven’t already guessed, this particular travel trailer is lightweight as well as compact. All of the 4 available floor plans come in under 4,500 pounds and are less than 24 feet in length. This gives you a number of choices, and each floor plan is well thought out.

This RV starts at $23k, making it one of the most affordable options on this list. Plus, there are enough floor plans to suit everyone. Let’s take a closer look at it now. 

While the specs for the 2023 Jay Flight SLX are still in progress, there are five floor plans to choose from. All of these should be under 25 feet long, and they should also be lightweight to boot. These choices include bunkhouse options so that you can bring the whole family along, including your dogs or cats. 

The interior design of the Jay Flight SLX is ideal for those of you with busy families, as it is easy to clean and maintain. The vinyl flooring throughout is durable and made to last, something that Jayco is well-known for. As far as the features go, you have the option to add solar and other fantastic amenities that will allow you to keep a round. While the price point of this RV is ideal for those of you who only want to camp during the summertime, Jayco wants you to have the option to travel any time of year.

The interior design of the 2023 models of this RV have not been released yet, but some options in the past have been a bit bland. You may find that this RV needs some spicing up, but it’s a great option for those of you looking for something affordable, durable, and easy to tow! 

Lightest Weight: Forest River No Boundaries

• Multiple different floor plan and length options 
• Lightweight and easy to tow
• Solar and off-road packages available
• Endless amount of options may prove confusing

We’ve had a number of lightweight travel trailers on this list, but the No Boundaries from Forest River is another option to consider if you have a smaller tow vehicle. With weights ranging from 1500 to 3500 pounds, the No Boundaries should be easy to tow by a number of different cars. Let’s check it out in detail now!

Forest River tries to set its customers up for success in terms of the number of options it has. However, purchasing one of these RVs can be needlessly confusing. There are countless floor plans with different weight limits and lengths, so make sure that you purchase the right make and model if this is the RV for you. 

With all of this in mind, the No Boundaries is ideal for those of you hoping to camp off-grid and travel wherever you please. There are some added durability features to the chassis and tires, as well as solar panels included. You can upgrade to add more solar and additional batteries, adding an extra cost.

In terms of floor plans, you can sleep a number of people inside of this compact frame. There are even toy hauler floor plan options, complete with ramps so that you can easily load your gear. Keep in mind that these floor plans might not be something that works best for your family, but there aren’t very many options on this list with toy hauler ramps!

Not only is this travel trailer lightweight, but you have a number of different options to add on to the initial purchase price. Some of these options include solar, additional gear racks, and much more. However, know that these will all cost more and it may put this RV outside your planned budget!

The Whole Package: Jayco Jay Feather Micro  

• Great budget-friendly purchase price 
• Lots of lightweight floor plans
• Easy to tow and maintain
• Needs some additions and special touches 

Starting at $35k, the Jay Feather Micro from Jayco is almost too good to be true. While it doesn’t get our best overall spots due to questioning of its durability, this compact RV is under 23 feet with 5 floor plans and is incredibly light. Let’s go over all of the things that it has to offer now.

There is a floor plan for everyone when it comes to checking out the Jay Feather Micro, as there’s a bunk house , a floor plan perfect for couples, and tomorrow. Jayco uses every square inch of space on board this RV, and it shows. Plus, the finishings are attractive and versatile for a number of lifestyles. 

While you can get multiple solar panels, additional batteries, and much more, these things are not included standard. Given the low purchase price, this travel trailer may be right up your alley, especially when you consider just how many ways you can customize it. Just keep in mind that this will raise that initial price! 

Jayco considers this travel trailer a great starter RV for those of you just beginning your journey, though the interior design and special features are enough to please anyone. Keep in mind that you may need to put in some extra effort to make this RV special, but it truly has plenty to offer you and your family! 

Runner Up: Forest River r-pod

• Plenty of compact floor plans 
• Lightweight and aerodynamic design 
• Bathrooms and bunk beds throughout these floor plans 
• Make sure Forest River is the brand for you 

As a full-time camp host and RVer, I see certain models more than others. One model that I see all the time is the Forest River r-pod. This compact travel trailer is beloved, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, and it’s no secret as to why this might be. 

With 9 floor plans, all 25 feet long or shorter, the r-pod is compact and unique. It is shaped similarly to a teardrop travel trailer, with a curved roof line and aerodynamic design. Plus, all floor plans are incredibly lightweight, giving you an even easier time when it comes to driving and towing. 

All available floor plans have bathrooms, and some floor plans have bunk beds for the kiddos. You have a dedicated kitchen and a bedroom with a queen bed across all nine options as well, giving you plenty to choose from. Plus, the interior design of the r-pod is attractive and appeals to a number of different people.

Forest River has truly thought of everything with this particular travel trailer, which might be one of the reasons why it is just so popular. However, you should definitely check out our Forest River review to make sure that this RV manufacturer is what you are looking for in terms of durability and longevity.

6 Lightweight Travel Trailers That are Perfect for Couples

My husband and I have been on the search for the perfect travel trailer for almost a year. After many nights of researching on manufacturing websites, RV forums, and watching thousands (seriously, we think it’s about 3,000) YouTube videos we realized… The perfect travel trailer doesn’t exist.

However, here are a few that come pretty darn close. Here’s the parameters I’m going by – as this is what we preferred:

• Walk around queen bed (RV size or residential)
• Separate refrigerator and freezer
• Max total length of 24 feet
• Max dry weight 4500 pounds
• Dry bath (separate shower/toilet)
• Good storage
• No bunks/bunkbeads
• Not a toyhauler
• Under $20,000

Here are a few trailers that we strongly considered while looking for our new travel trailer.

1. Keystone Bullet Crossfire 1800RB

Keystone is owned by Thor Industries, which also owns Airstream, Jayco, Dutchmen, and more. The 1800 RB (RB = rear bathroom) features a queen murphy bed which allows for a walk-around bed, while still keeping the coach at a smaller length. This is an affordable camper, with lots of storage options.

Pros: Campsite dinette, big rear bathroom with good storage, outside shower, dual propane tanks, enclosed underbelly (this is more important that you may think), outside shower.

Cons: No side tables/storage next to sofa, no black tank flush, murphy bed has to be supported at the base, tri-fold mattress

• Length: 21 feet, 4 inches
• Height: 10 feet, 5 inches
• Width: 8 feet
• Dry weight: 3400lbs (approx)

2. Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf 18MT

Forest River is another big name manufacturer of RV and travel trailers. This Grey Wolf model is a step above an entry model, with some really nice features. First, it has an awesome outdoor kitchen with sink, mini-fridge, and ice maker. This model is also a murphy bed, but boasts a lot more storage than some of its counterparts.

Pros: Campsite dinette, bathroom has mirrors and storage, amazing outdoor kitchen and shower, backsplash, storage rack on back.

Cons: The bed has a funky set up and it’s a bit on the heavier side.

• Length: 23 feet, 5 inches
• Height: 10 feet, 6 inches
• Dry weight: 4200lbs (approx)

3. Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108FBS

Winnebago is one of the best brands you’ll find when shopping for a travel trailer. They are well made, have the best materials, and some of the best warranties in the business. This 2108FBS is a beautiful trailer (and it’s more on the expensive side, but you can find it for less than $20K new if you try hard).

Pros: Easy to tow at 7 feet wide, lots of beautiful windows, privacy curtain, over and under bed storage (separate from passthrough storage), backsplash, framed doors, enclosed belly, huge awning, cross breeze at sleeping area.

Cons: It’s a bit more expensive and harder to find on lots. Outside showers are optional and not on all units.

• Length: 21 feet, 11 inches
• Width: 7 feet
• Dry weight: 3980lbs (approx)

4. Forest River Salem Cruise Light 171RBXL

Another model from Forest River – this time from the Salem line. The 171RBXL is a murphy bed model with a campside dinette. If you’re a weekend warrior, or just starting out – you may want to check out this travel trailer. It’s very affordable (I’ve seen new models at $12,500). It’s very spacious, has a lot of accessible storage, and is much roomier than it looks. I would just look into swapping out the fan for a Fantastic and making sure to reinforce any leaks in the underbelly.

Pros: Super affordable entry level camper, lots and lots of storage space that’s easy to access, shower doors.

Cons: Underbelly not enclosed, no outside shower, and weak shower/exhaust fan.

• Length: 22 feet, 5 inches
• Height: 10 feet, 1 inches
• Dry weight: 3800lbs (approx)

5. Sunset Park Sunray 199

Sunset Park Sunray trailers have that vintage look and are so Instagram friendly. The trailer offers a bit of separation from the sleeping and living area.

Pros: Comes in awesome vintage look/feel, large dinette than turns into a bed for 2 people, outside shower.

Cons: Not a ton of inside storage.

• Length: 21 feet, 5 inches
• Width: 7 feet, 1 inch
• Dry weight: 3000 (approx)

6. Forest River R-Pod 192

R-Pods are known for the cute frog (Forest River Owner Group) on the side of the coach. While the R-Pod started as a teardrop trailer, newer models have expanded by a few feet and boast full-size refrigerators. The 192 model has a murphy bed for extra space while still keeping the cozy look and feel of a traditional R-Pod. Also, check out the 195 and 196 that have similar chassis.

Pros: Massive campsite dinette window, comes standard with TV, large pantry, lots of storage, exterior kitchen with spray hose, pet latch, residential queen.

Cons: Folding bed, shower lacks tile/coating, no mirror/med cabinet in bathroom, is not backup camera ready.

• Length: 22 feet, 2 inches
• Height: 9 feet, 10 inches
• Width: 8feet

Other trailers to consider…

Like I said, we watched a LOT of videos. Here are some other models to consider that did not meet our specifications, but are models others may consider if you have a higher budget, can pull more weight, or a smaller refrigerator is OK.

we got the 22rbs. we liked the open floor plan with seats and large bath.

We really liked that model. In truth, the layout of the 22rbs would prob be better for us — but the weight was just a bit too much and we’d have to upgrade our TV.

We are in the process of deciding on a couples lite trailer and have been researching the floorplans etc. online. One of the items on our wish list is appropriate counter space, which seems to be in short supply in most of the units we have looked into. Our one major question from a practical standpoint is this: where on earth do people put their coffee makers and toasters???

We use a French press coffee maker ourselves, so we only have it out when using it. And we never used a toaster (just used the convection oven when we needed something toasted). Many people in the 192 add a shelf to the right of the sink. Some even add small carts. But that’s where our pup sleeps – so we make due.

When the sofas are rolled back, there is enough garage space for a sizeable ATV or UTV. It also makes for an excellent party platform when combined with the ramp.

The screen flap at the mouth of the garage will keep the cool breezes flowing, without the biting insects. The king bed is huge and yet, there is still plenty of space all around it, including flanking wardrobes.

Two double bunks provide lots of space for kids or gear organization when they’re not in use. 

While choosing a travel trailer with or without a slide is a personal preference, the benefits of an easier set-up and tear-down process and the ability to fit into a tight campsite are noteworthy.

So, what manufacturer really makes the best travel trailer brand? ​Even with thorough research, ​this can be a difficult question to answer.

We’ve sifted through the necessary information and have compiled a list of, what we believe to be, the top rated travel trailers for RV camping.

There is a commonly used saying in the RV industry, “Buy your second travel trailer first.”

​Once you decide that you want to buy a travel trailer, you have ​hundreds if not thousands of​ options to choose from including ​brands and models, the number of people the travel trailer sleeps, the floor plan and the features ​each brand has to offer. For example, if you plan on camping in the winter, you’ll want ​a travel trailer with a cold-weather package. These are the 10 best travel trailers.

1. Airstream Classic

The Airstream Classic comes in two sizes: 30 feet and 33 feet. Both have similar floor plans with either twin beds or a queen bed in a separate bedroom.​

Enjoy the classic round tube-style travel trailer with all of the newest amenities, including a luxurious bathroom, a kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and a touch-screen control panel.

Standard equipment includes:

• A 270w solar package with an interior monitor;
• A flush system for the black tank to make cleaning the tank easier;
• A heated and insulated enclosed underbelly so you can stay warm and comfortable during the winter; and
• A rearview monitoring system to help you back up.

2. Northwood Arctic Fox

You have the option of ​choosing from six different floor plans when you chose the Northwood Arctic Fox travel trailer.​

​Floor plan sizes range from 22 feet to 32 feet. The 22-footer is the only model that does not have slideouts. Standard features include an off-road chassis, thick-walled, fully welded frame construction for durability, one-piece fiberglass exterior walls, four-season insulation, including R-18 ceiling insulation, and shocks on all four wheels.

• A 45-watt solar panel and a sidewall solar port to conserve your batteries and generator;
• A 12-volt power tongue jack to make hitching up easier;
• Night shades;
• Solid surface kitchen counter tops;
• A 10 cubic-foot fridge with a cold weather kit; and
• A built-in laundry chute.

3. Keystone Cougar

Keystone offers 13 different floor plans for their Cougar travel trailers, ranging from 22 to 34 feet long.​ All floor plans have good sized slides​, which means more comfort and floor space so that you won’t feel cramped if you happen to get stuck inside on your camping trip.​

The 22-footer sleeps up to four people and the 34-footer sleeps up to nine people. Enjoy a 7.5-inch command center master control panel, an auto-leveling system, and a climate guard package that keeps you comfortable, whether the temperature is near 0 or a smoldering 110 degrees.

• 3/8-inch walkable deck roofing;
• Seamless counter tops;
• A 15,000 BTU ducted air conditioner; and
• Insulated slide floors and underbelly.

4. Jayco White Hawk

Choose from 12 floor plans ranging from 23 to 32 feet. All models have at least one slideout, making the Jayco White Hawk spacious for your family. The Customer Value Package and the Luxury Package are mandatory on any White Hawk model and include a 40- or 50-inch LED TV, 13,500 or 15,000 BTU air conditioning unit, a roof ladder, power awning, upgraded insulation in the enclosed underbelly and backup assist lighting.

• 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove plywood decked flooring for stability;
• Dark tinted windows made from safety glass;
• The JAYCOMMAND “Smart RV” system;
• Marine-grade exterior speakers; and
• Teddy bear “soft-touch” bunk mats in models with bunks.

5. Grand Design Reflection

The Grand Design Reflection features three floor plans with 33, 37 and 38 feet. All three feature theater seating and a large 30-inch by 36-inch shower with a skylight. The entertainment center in all three models feature a 40-inch TV. The​ spacious bedroom has television hookups, which includes cable and satellite prep.

• A high-capacity water pump;
• Solid hardwood drawer fronts and residential panel cabinet doors;
• Panoramic slide room windows;
• LED lighting with motion sensors;
• Underbed storage;
• 5-inch truss rafters;
• A one-piece TPO roof membrane with an 18-year warranty; and
• Residential framed roof.

6. Forest River Wildcat Maxx

The Wildcat Maxx by Forest River has nine travel trailer floor plans for you to choose from. All floor plans feature at least one slideout so that you are not crowded while you are inside. The Wildcat Maxx features a heavy-duty I beam chassis and a one-piece roof membrane for stability and longevity. The interior height of all floor plans is 7 feet. Roof rafters are 16-inch on center and are 5-inch engineered and fabricated for longevity.

• R-7 fiberglass insulation and a 12-volt tank heater for each holding tank;
• R-10 high-density block foam insulatin in the side walls, including the slideout walls and ceilings;
• Vented attic;
• 35,000 BTU furnace; and
• The Strongarm Stabilizer Jack System.

7. Casita Heritage

The Casita Heritage comes as a 16- or 17-foot standard or deluxe model. All models feature outside storage compartments, an automatic change-over regulator, LED running/stop/tail lights; deluxe insulation, wardrobe closets in the deluxe models, and custom wall material insulation.

Standard features include:

• A two-burner cooktop;
• A three-way fridge (4.0 cubic feet in the 17-footer and 1.9 cubic feet in the 16-footer);
• Sewer hose storage;
• GFI electrical circuits; and
• Smoke and LP gas detectors.

8. Heartland Mallard

The Heartland Mallard has 16 floor plans for you to choose from, ranging from 22 feet through 40 feet. The smaller models sleep up to six while the largest model sleeps at least nine people. Furnaces range from 18,000 BTU in M185 to 30,000 BTU in the M335. The fridge runs on LP or electricity. All models feature king-size beds and King Kong sized pass-through storage.

Gulf Stream BT Cruiser 5210

Length: 22 feet, 6 inches

While technically a Class B Plus RV, the Gulf Stream BT Cruiser has all the features travelers look for in small Class C RVs. The 5210 floorplan features a rear bathroom with a separate shower and a fully-equipped kitchen with a 3-burner range, microwave and refrigerator.

The living space doubles as the bedroom with two large jackknife sofas that fold down to create a bed. A removable table between the two sofas makes it easy to transform the living area into a dining room or office.

Winnebago EKKO 22A

Length: 23 feet, 0 inches

Another great Class B Plus RV that is a great alternative to a small Class C is the Winnebago EKKO 22A. One unique feature of the EKKO is an innovative dry/ wet bath with a pivoting wall that separates the shower area from the toilet.

The EKKO also houses a small galley kitchen and two twin beds that can be converted into a queen-sized bed for couples. The EKKO is also off-grid ready with 3 solar panels, a second alternator dedicated to charging the batteries while driving and lithium-ion batteries.

East to West Entrada 2200S

Length: 23 feet, 10 inch es

The first true Class C on our list is the East to West Entrada 2200S. With a slide out on driver side of the vehicle, the Entrada has a full queen size bed and a large wardrobe closet. An over the cab bunk also provides additional sleeping space.

Across from the sleeping area is a two-piece bathroom with a toilet and separate shower. The sink is just outside the bathroom. The main living area offers a dinette and a fully equipped kitchen with a cooktop, convection microwave, refrigerator and another sink.

Coachmen Cross Trail EV 20XG

Length: 24 feet, 1 inch

The Coachmen Cross Trail EV 20XG is a small motorhome that prioritizes storage space. The rear of the RV houses a double power bed which can be raised up and down. Under the raised bed is rear storage room with tons of space. The storage area can be accessed from inside the RV or via exterior doors.

The Cross Trail EV 20XG also has a galley kitchen with a refrigerator, two-burner cooktop and microwave and a cross-hall bathroom with toilet and sink on one side and a shower on the other.

Uniquely, this model also has a Renogy empowered hybrid electrical system designed to operate every coach function from battery power, including the air conditioning.

Thor Four Winds 22B

The Thor Winds 22B is a great small Class C RV for couples and small families. The layout includes a rear sleeping area with a queen-sized bed, large closet and full three-piece bathroom. There is also an over the cab bunk for extra sleeping space.

The living area includes a large dinette and a full kitchen with double-door refrigerator, 3-burner cooktop, a pantry, a microwave and a flip-up countertop for extra prep space. Campers who prefer to be outside can add an optional exterior TV on a swivel bracket.

Coachmen Freelander 22XG

Length: 24 feet, 3 inches

Another Small Class C from Coachmen that offers great storage space is the Coachmen Freelander 22XG. This unique floorplan has a queen Murphy bed in the rear of the RV. When the bed is raised the area becomes a cargo space that can be accessed via a rear door.

The 9-foot cargo area is perfect for hauling toys, such as bikes or kayaks. This floorplan also has a nice three-piece bathroom, a full kitchen with a cooktop and range and a J-shaped lounge that doubles as a couch and a dinette.

Winnebago Vita 24P

Length: 24 feet, 5 inches

The second Winnebago on our list of the best small Class C RVs is the Vita 24P. At just under 25 feet, this RV has everything you need to be comfortable on an extended road trip. A rear sleeping area houses a queen bed, a three-piece bathroom and a small wardrobe closet.

There is also an overhead bunk for extra sleeping capacity. The main living area has a full a kitchen with refrigerator, pantry, convection microwave, cooktop and plenty of counterspace. There is also a dinette booth, which can be replaced with optional theater seating.

Dynamax Isata 3 24RW

Length: 24 feet, 7 inches

The Dynamax Isata 3 24RW is a small class C with dual slide outs, which create plenty of interior living space. A rear bedroom houses a queen-sized bed and a bathroom sink and vanity. Outside of the bedroom is a two-piece bath with a separate shower.

The kitchen includes a double-door fridge, a range with cooktop, a convection microwave oven and a countertop extension. Across from the kitchen is a booth dinette or optional theater seating. There is also an over the cab bunk.

Thor Delano 24TT

Length: 24 feet, 9 inches

The Thor Delano 24TT is another great small Class C RV for couples. The rear sleeping area has a queen bed that folds up to create an additional seating area during the day. Beside the bedroom is three-piece bathroom with a curved shower curtain for extra space.

The kitchen includes a refrigerator, a two-burner cooktop, a convection microwave oven and beautiful high-gloss cabinetry. A dinette is located across from the kitchen, and an over the cab bunk offers extra sleeping space.

Forest River Forester 2151SLE

Coming in at exactly 25 feet, the Forest River Forester 2151SLE is a great small Class C RV. A corner queen-sized bed is located in the rear of the RV next to a two-piece bathroom. The bathroom sink and vanity are just outside the bathroom.
