You wanna go for a ride back to the ’90s? AQUA is here to deliver. The Danish dance- pop group announced its Barbie World Tour on Friday (Aug. 25) with dates across the United States in an appropriately pink photo. The trek kicks off in Seattle at the historic Paramount Theatre on Nov. 12, and wraps right before Christmas, on Dec. 20 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium.

The tour comes as AQUA’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl” off its debut album, Aquarium , has found renewed interest with the arrival of the mega blockbuster Barbie movie, which boasts a current box-office total of $1.3 billion, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” song from the film’s soundtrack samples AQUA’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 7-peaking tune; the new track — which the trio is credited on — from the rappers debuted at No. 7 on the all-genre tally dated July 8. It became Minaj’s 23rd top 10, and Ice Spice and AQUA’s second.

The S potify Fans First presale begins Monday (Aug. 28) at 10 a.m. ET. The general public will be able to buy tickets starting Wednesday (Aug. 30) at 10 a.m. ET.

Coming off the success of "Barbie" at the box office and the "Barbie" Soundtrack on the Billboard 200 chart, Aqua will be embarking on a limited-date tour in the United States.

Aqua's iconic smash hit, "Barbie Girl," will be the central focus of their tour. Notably, the song was sampled heavily on Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice's hit record "Barbie World," which catapulted the Europop group back in the chart.

Aqua are a European pop band from Copenhagen, Denmark who characterised bubblegum pop since their formation in 1995 complete with gimmicks and incessantly catchy tunes inspired by the likes of Ace of Base and Abba.

In the early beginnings the band were known as Joyspeed. Rene Lif spent his time DJ’ing clubs around Copenhagen and soon he crossed paths with aspiring producers Soren Rasted and Claus Norreen who had won a competition which included studio time to record a few singles with the support of Lif. With an undeniable chemistry formed, the band sought out a vocalist who came in the form of Lene Nystrm who they discovered aboard a cruise ship.

In 1994 they signed to a small Swedish label where they released their first single “Itzy Bitzy Spider” which received little to no chart success. After a disappointing run with the label, Joyspeed parted ways with them and in 1996 signed a record deal with Universal Music Denmark.

With new management and label, the band opted for a fresh start opting to change their name to Aqua. Their first release under the new name “Roses Are Red” in 1996 was a huge success going platinum and remained in the Danish charts for over two months.

The release of their debut album “Aquarium” in 1997 launched the band into the stratosphere as their brand of European pop invaded charts across the globe. “Barbie Girl” the first single released off the album in 1997 alone sold over four million copies worldwide whilst securing the number one spot in several charts. The album also featured the track “Doctor Jones” accompanied by its memorably cheesy video and full of their signature dance-pop sound. Proving they weren’t a one trick pony, the band released a more toned down and serious love song “Turn Back Time” released in 1998 which also featured on the soundtrack to the Gwyneth Paltrow film “Sliding Doors”.

Slowing it down in 1999, the band focussed on producing their follow up album “Aquarius” which they released the following year featuring the singles “Cartoon Heroes” and “Bumble Bees” which encapsulated their signature pop sound. The album achieved top ten chart position in seven different countries.

Their hit single “Barbie Girl” would come back to haunt the band and although it initially appeared as innocent and cutesy, controversy soon hit the once the sexual suggestiveness was examined. This would ultimately result in Barbie manufacturer Mattel filing a lawsuit in 2000 against the band for diminishing and misrepresenting the image of the children’s toy. The case was eventually thrown out of court, with the judge asking both parties to “chill” over the matter.

This didn’t help the already growing tension in the band as relationships weakened within the group and in 2001 Aqua announced their split. In the meantime Nystrm, Dif and Rasted all achieved solo success in the Netherlands while Norreen continued working as a music producer.

In 2007 the band announced their return which would commence with a 25 date tour. Aqua released their second greatest hits album in 2009 with the addition of three new tracks which allowed them to continue touring across Europe. “Meglomania” Aqua’s third album released in 2011 orientated around a more mature electro-pop sound with the singles “Playmate to Jesus” and “Like a Robot”. Although not as commercially successful as their previous releases, the album went gold in Denmark peaking at number two.

Aqua have established themselves as the most successful Danish band with a string of timeless classics which transport people down memory lane as they relive their youth.

Aqua are a Danish-Norwegian Eurodance group. The band shot to fame in the 1990s and maintained their high profile status into the early 2000s. Anyone in their twenties will remember dancing away to ‘Barbie Girl’ as a child. After a six-year hiatus Aqua reformed in 2007 and continue to tour. Alongside the Vengaboys, Aqua are currently having considerable success launching a ’90s pop scene revival in Austria.

An Aqua concert is a hilarious night. Be prepared for ridiculous music, lyrics and outfits. Most all, be prepared to partake in some ridiculous dancing. The infectious drumbeat never fails to get everyone moving. To enjoy an Aqua concert you need a keen sense of lighthearted fun. You have to suspend all temptation to take anything seriously.

Aqua largely attract young twenty-somethings who remember the cheesey pop act from their childhood. ‘Calling Dr Jones’, ‘Barbie Girl’ and ‘Candyman’ are guaranteed crowd-pleasers. The contrast between René Dif’s deep rapping and Lene Nystrøm’s high-pitched, almost squeaky vocals, only adds to the hilarity.

Since announcing their reunion in 2007, Aqua have also been busy creating new music. In 2011 they released ‘Megalomania’ and earlier in the night they play some slightly more serious tunes from this album. Though as the band smash out energetic renditions of their greatest hits, the night becomes a true cheese fest.

The Danish-Norwegian Europop group – best known for their 1997 hit ‘Barbie World’ – will kick off the aptly named tour at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on November 12, with stops planned for San Francisco, Philadelphia, Las Vegas and many more, before they wrap up at The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on December 20.

“AMERICA… You wanna go for a ride?” the band asked on their social media post announcing the tour.

Pre-sale tickets go on sale August 28 at 10am local time, while general sale goes live August 30 at 10am EST from here .

‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua has seen a resurgence in recent months due to the buzz around the Barbie movie.

While the track did not feature directly on the star-studded soundtrack , a reimagined version was recorded by Nicki Minaj  and  Ice Spice , which sees the pair sample original snippets of the Aqua classic.

It was previously reported last year that Aqua’s version of ‘Barbie Girl’  would not feature in the film , but star Margot Robbie was apparently insistent on it featuring.

“I was like, ‘Greta, how are we going to incorporate this song? We can’t do a Barbie movie and not have a nod to Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl.’ It has to be in there.’ And [Greta] was like, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to find a cool way to incorporate it,’ ” recalled Robbie in a feature with Rolling Stone .

She continued: “And then, when she was like, ‘Guess who’s going to do the remix of Aqua’s “Barbie Girl”? Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.’ I was like, ‘Together? Are you joking?!’ I just knew immediately that all my girlfriends were going to lose their minds.”

Aqua Launch ‘Barbie World Tour’ with Dates Across the US in 2023

Danish Europop group Aqua announces its Barbie World Tour with a US leg throughout the rest of 2023.

Aqua, the Danish Europop group best known for their 1997 hit, “Barbie Girl,” announces its Barbie World Tour on Friday, August 25, with dates across the United States throughout the rest of 2023. The tour launches in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre on November 12, with the US leg wrapping up on December 20 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium.

“America, you wanna go for a ride?” asks Europop band Aqua on their Instagram post announcing the launch of their Barbie World Tour, with the US leg launching in Seattle on November 12 and wrapping up in Los Angeles on December 20.

Following the heels of the band’s return to the cultural zeitgeist after more than 15 years with the launch of the Barbie movie , Danish Europop dance group Aqua is here to bring you back to the ’90s. The band headlined shows at Irving Plaza in New York City and The Belasco in Los Angeles in June and July and are ready to embark on a world tour.

“We’ve been working on this for 27 years!” the band writes on social media. “Performing two sold-out shows in NYC and LA this summer was a dream come true, and to be able to come back soon for a nationwide tour is absolutely insane. We cannot wait to meet everyone for the first time, face to face.”

Newfound cultural interest in Aqua’s 1997 hit “Barbie Girl” from the band’s debut album, “Aquarium,” comes thanks to the blockbuster “Barbie” film — boasting a box office total of $1.3 billion as of this weekend. Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s song from the film’s soundtrack, “Barbie World,” samples Aqua’s track and credits the trio, and debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard all-genre chart dated July 8, marking Nicki’s 23rd Top 10 hit, and Aqua and Ice Spice’s second.

The general public sale begins Wednesday, August 30, at 10 AM ET, while the Spotify Fans First pre-sale begins Monday, August 28, at 10 AM ET.

Aqua will be heading out on their “Barbie World Tour” beginning on Nov. 12 in Seattle, Wash. and will wrap up on Dec. 20 in Los Angeles, Calif .

In a statement the trio stated, “We’ve been working for this for 27 years! Performing two sold out shows in NYC and L.A. this summer was a dream come true, and to be able to come back soon for a nation-wide tour is absolutely insane. We cannot wait to meet everyone for the first time, face to face.”

This tour comes after the renewed interest in their 1997 debut album, “Aquarium,” due to the success in the blockbuster hit movie “Barbie.”

Tickets to see Aqua on tour are currently available to the public on Ticketmaster .

Aqua Announces Barbie World Tour Across the U.S.

Aqua  fans, get ready to party.

The Danish Europop group has announced its Barbie World Tour — a 20-date leg across the United States this fall that a press release described as "a kaleidoscopic explosion of '90s wonder, where glitter, pink and pulsating beats reign supreme."

The band, which features vocalists René Dif and Lene Nystrøm as well as keyboardist Søren Rasted (and formerly Claus Norreen), will kick off its tour Nov. 12 in at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle and will wrap Dec. 20 at the Hollywood Palladium.

Aqua will also play venues throughout Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago and more.

News of their U.S. run comes as the band is experiencing a pop culture resurgence, appearing on the  Barbie  movie soundtrack amid the 25th anniversary of the iconic hit  "Barbie Girl"  and playing sold-out shows in New York and Los Angeles this summer.

A  Spotify Fans First presale will begin Monday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. ET, and tickets will be available to the general public on Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. ET.

Aqua released "Barbie Girl" as the third single off its  Aquarium  album in 1997.

In an interview with PEOPLE last year, the band reflected on the impact the iconic track has had on their career.

"I would be compared with 'Barbie Girl'  all the time ," explains Nystrøm, 49, told PEOPLE. "It really made me into the darkest drug chick in the world with skulls all over because I  had  to do something opposite than  that !" She laughs. "So yeah, that time definitely had its rough patches."

Rasted, 54, added, "'Barbie Girl' kind of over-shined all the other hits we had. We didn't have any other hits in America. We put 'Lollipop (Candyman)' out as the second single and it never worked. It was a bit disappointing because in America, suddenly we became a one-hit-wonder band. Do we wish things would've worked out differently in America? Absolutely."

90s Icons Aqua Are Set To Headline A Huge Nostalgic Aussie Tour, So Come On Barbie Let’s Go Party

Aqua’s 2024 tour will mark the first time the Danish-Norwegian band has been Down Under since 2018.

In case you’ve somehow forgotten, Aqua is the band behind such hits as “ Doctor Jones ,” and “ Lollipop (Candyman) “.

Oh, and a little song by the name of “Barbie Girl”. You might have heard of it.

I am immediately taken back to the good old days.

Strictly speaking, the “good old days” for me are the early 2000s. But I had SingStar 90s on Playstation 2, so I’m something of a cultured Zoomer.

When are Aqua touring Australia in 2024?

Aqua’s big Aussie tour begins on March 21 in Brisbane at the Entertainment Centre.

Then it’s at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena the next day.

Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena will be feeling the 90s fever on March 24.

The group will then perform at Adelaide Entertainment Centre on March 26.

And finally, the big 90s blowout will finish in Perth on March 28 at the RAC Arena.

Joining the best party since 1999 are other theme fitting musical acts such as 2 Unlimited, East 17, Phats & Small, Big Brovaz, Booty Luv, and Urban Cookie Collective.

Dolphin Discovery Entrance (Pier 4, Level 1)

This tour will allow you to get up close with our colony of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Visit the top of our Dolphin Discovery amphitheater before stopping by the food prep kitchen for a quick look. Learn about how we train these intelligent marine mammals, and then visit the staff-only area directly in front of the glass for an up-close look at our dolphins.

Tour pricing is per person; each guest must have their own tour ticket to participate. For all-ages tours, including the Dolphin Tour, this includes children ages 3 and over.

Before You Go

Everything you need to know before your Dolphin Tour!

Before your tour, please review the following important information:

• Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes.
• Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your tour. Check in at the entrance to Dolphin Discovery (at the end of the bridge on Pier 4, Level 1).
• You'll be asked to sign a waiver when you get here; please have each participant of your group print, sign and bring a copy to ensure that your tour starts on time. Participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to attend.
• Learn more about discounted parking at our partner garages . Bring your parking ticket to the Aquarium to have it validated before leaving.
• When booking your tour, please notify Central Reservations of any guests with special needs.

There is no age requirement for this program; guests of all ages can participate. All guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in order to attend.

Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, including if you miss your tour due to late arrival. If the Aquarium cancels your program, you'll have the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.

To ensure that your tour hasn't been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances such as animal health or inclement weather, please call 410-576-8822 the day of your program for cancellation information.

No. This tour does not go behind the scenes, but does include access to staff-only areas.

A paid parent or guardian must accompany all participants under the age of 16. Minors 16 years of age or older may participate with a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians accompanying children must be at least 18 years old. For example, a 17-year-old may attend a tour with a signed waiver, but their 10-year-old sibling may not accompany them without an adult.

This tour does not allow guests to touch the dolphins.

Closed-toe, non-slip shoes and comfortable clothing are recommended. Keep in mind that you'll be directly in front of the dolphin's pool, and may get splashed.

No. However, this tour is an add-on to a general admission ticket, which grants you admission into the building.
