DO YOU HAVE A worthwhile project or field of study that involves traveling? If so, consider having your travels funded through a grant, fellowship, or travel scholarship.

Begin by contemplating where you want to go and potential projects you could build around those destinations. (Or vice versa.) Always wondered how sustainable agriculture works in Guam? How about local conservation practices in Central America? Once you have a clear vision of a travel / research project, begin looking for funding possibilities that give you the most freedom to pursue your goals.

When applying, take advantage of the resources and support systems you have. Your school, present or past, will have an adviser who can help you navigate the application process.

Writing grant proposals can take a lot of time, but good advice can help focus your efforts. Your school or area may even offer their own scholarship opportunities–talk to your department or your study abroad office.

Finally, even if funding from your school or other org close to home isn’t an option, you’ll find lots of other opportunities out there to fund your travel / project.

Major Grants

These are highly sought-after, competitive post-college grants that offer a full ride for a year or two of graduate study overseas.

Marshall Scholarship fully funds 2-3 years of graduate study in the UK. Open to US students finished with or finishing college.

Rhodes Scholarship funds two years of graduate study at Oxford. Includes full tuition and expenses and living stipend.

Fulbright offers year-long fellowships to American graduating seniors, grad students, young professionals and artists for study abroad or to teach English abroad. Program requirements vary by destination.

Watson Fellowship funds one year of independent research. $25,000. Open to graduating seniors from participating, small American colleges.

Program-based funding

These include grants tied to participation in the giver’s program, and can take various forms.

Institute for International Public Policy Fellowships is a five year program with study abroad component to prepare underrepresented minority undergrads for careers in international affairs. Open to US citizens or permanent residents who apply sophomore year.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowships multi-year program also for women and members of minorities underrepresented in foreign service. Open to US citizens to apply by Feb. of sophomore year. Foreign service commitment.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a State Department program supporting study abroad. Up to $5000 offered to enrolled students with financial need.

Rotary Ambassadorial and World Peace Scholarships fund study and language training abroad for undergraduates and masters degrees for graduate students in international studies, peace studies, and conflict resolution to be completed at one of seven Rotary Centers. Ambassadorial grants from $11000 to $24000 depending on duration of study.

Fogarty-Ellison Overseas Fellowships in Global Health and Clinical Research from the NIH funds one year of clinical research training abroad. $25,000 plus $6000 for additional travel and materials expenses. Open to graduate students in health professions.

CIEE Scholarships offers several grants to participants in CIEE’s study abroad programs. Certain grants fund study in particular regions. Essay required upon return. Must demonstrate financial need.

AIFS Scholarships offer a variety of grants covering up to full tuition and airfare for individuals in AIFS programs.

SIT Scholarships fund participation in SIT program. $500 to $5,000. Based on financial need.

Hispanic Study Abroad Scholars reduces costs of Global Semesters programs. Open to students attending member institutions of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

Institute for International Public Policy Fellowship is a multi-year program of summer institutes and study abroad. Funds up to 1/2 of junior year study abroad tuition. Open to underrepresented minorities.

Regional Grants

These grants are tied to study or travel in specific regions or countries of the globe.

NSEP David L. Boren Scholarship pays for undergraduate students to study in understudied areas of interest to national security. $8000 to $20000 depending on duration of study. Comes with federal government service requirement.

NSEP Boren Fellowship for graduate students. $12000 to $30000 maximum award. Federal service requirement.

Critical Language Scholarships for Intensive Summer Institutes funds study of a list of lesser-studied languages. Covers all program costs. Open to US citizens enrolled in a college or university.

The Killam Fellowships Program fund semester or academic year study in Canada. $5000/semester plus a travel allowance. Open to US or Canadian undergraduates.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship sponsors one year of graduate study at an Irish University. Funded by the US-Ireland Alliance. Includes tuition and stipend. Open to American citizens, ages 18 to 30.

BUTEX Scholarships offer $1000 for US students accepted to study at a member University of the British Universities TransAtlantic Exchange Association. Simple application due by September 1.

American-Scandinavian Foundation Awards for Study in Scandinavia offer fellowships of up to $23000 and grants of $5000 to fund study or research. Open to college graduates.

DAAD Fellowships from The German Academic Exchange offers a range of study and research grants to undergraduates and graduate students for summer or school-year study in Berlin.

Kress Travel Fellowships in the History of Art funds research in Europe towards dissertation. $3500 to $10,000. Open to American pre-doctoral students in art history

IREX Short Term Travel Grants Program Fellowships for researchers holding graduate degrees for up to eight weeks in Eurasia. Research must be broadly related to policy concerns.

Freeman Awards for Study in Asia supports study in Asia for students demonstrating financial need. $3000-$7000 based on the duration of study. Open to undergraduates with little to no experience in country of travel.

Bridging Scholarships are offered by the Association of Teachers of Japanese , to fund travel and living expenses for academic study in Japan. Grants range from $2500 to $4000.

Monbusho Scholarships available to current and graduated students between 18 and 30. Funded by the Japanese government. Short term exchange program of particular interest to current undergrad and grad students.

Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for Mandarin language study in Taiwan. Stipend of approx US$790/month. Open to overseas students who apply through their local Taiwan representative.

Halide Edip Adıvar Prize For current undergraduates who have not studied Turkey. $1000. Open to American and Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Other funding

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants towards study abroad. $1000. Open to all students of universities with a Phi Kappa Phi chapter.

1. the benjamin a. gilman international scholarship program.

One of the most competitive travel abroad scholarships out there, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship was created with the goal to diversify the types of students that were studying abroad. In other words, the Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S. students who are already receiving the Federal Pell Grant and supports underrepresented students that might not otherwise study abroad. Students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, with significant financial aid needs, with disabilities, or students studying subjects not usually pursued abroad (a.k.a. STEM subjects) all qualify to apply for awards are up to $5,000!

2. The Fulbright Program

The Boren Awards Scholarship provides funding for students to travel or volunteer abroad if they are studying languages and subjects relevant to U.S. national interests. Like many honor societies, the Golden Key Honour Society offers a number of scholarships and grants to its members. The Golden Key is especially impressive, as each year, they provide $1,000,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students, including those looking to study abroad!

These travel abroad scholarships are specifically for students who have shown a lot of initiative in their academics and on-campus leadership roles. As with many honor societies, you must be a member to apply, and application deadlines vary depending on the scholarship.

7. Fund for Education Abroad

The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is renowned for providing assistance to study abroad students who identify as traditionally underrepresented. Minority students, first-gen students, and community college students all receive preference over other applicants for awards in an effort to make study abroad experiences more accessible to all. Update - 24 July 2024: At this time, we’ve exhausted all available funds for Student Travel Grants in 2024. We are accepting applications for 2025 travel grants, with a priority deadline of 1 January 2025 for events occurring January - June 2025. 

The SFPE Foundation proudly announces the official launch of our Student Travel Grant program to support undergraduate and graduate student participation in SFPE and/or SFPE Foundation-affiliated conferences and related in-person events. 

Successful grantees may receive up to $3,000 USD toward travel costs associated with attending a specific SFPE or SFPE Foundation-affiliated conference or event wherever it may be held. For more information and to learn how to apply, please carefully review all details provided below and detailed in the SFPE Foundation’s Student Travel Grant Policy . 

The goal of this program is to provide assistance to undergraduate and graduate students globally who would like to travel to participate in SFPE or SFPE Foundation-affiliated conferences and events wherever they may be held. This program is supported by donations to the SFPE Foundation Student Travel Fund . This fund allows donors to direct their gifts to supporting students in attending SFPE and SFPE Foundation-affiliated conferences and events, as well as the operational costs involved in administering the program. 

The SFPE Foundation's policy is to provide travel grants up to $3,000 USD for students and award winners globally who can demonstrate a need. 

Allowable Costs

Grants are subject to the availability of funds. The amount of grant funding provided to an applicant is determined at the discretion of the SFPE Foundation. Selected recipients are not guaranteed to receive the full amount requested. 

Travel grants may be used for the following:

• Travel Expenses: Economy class fares for bus, train, and plane tickets are covered by the travel grant. Taxi fares, parking fees, tolls, and mileage costs, if you are driving to the site of the convention/conference, are also acceptable.
• Accommodations: Hotel, hostel, or other expenses towards lodging incurred during the convention/conference (unless pre-arranged by SFPE Foundation or SFPE staff on behalf of the grant recipient).
• Mileage: ‎‎Mileage to the conference is reimbursable with a document showing the distance of your trip, should you travel to the conference by car‎. Mileage is reimbursable at the current U.S. IRS standard mileage reimbursement. SFPE Foundation accepts printed directions from sites like Google Maps as documentation. 
• Meals: The costs of meals (excluding alcohol) incurred during travel. 

Please refer to the Student Travel Grant Policy for a list of examples of expenses that are not allowable.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be a student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a post-secondary institution or be a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program (where recent is defined as graduating within the 12 months preceding the date of the conference or event for which funding is requested).
• Be attending an SFPE or SFPE Foundation-affiliated event, or other event as may be approved by the SFPE Foundation on a case-by-case basis.
• Register for the conference or event noted in the application; proof of registration may be required.
• Apply by the deadline noted below. (See Application Timeline.)
• Complete all required components of the application, including a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (linked below).
• Be a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). (SFPE membership is free to students.)
• Have a valid form of identification (e.g., driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued identification acceptable to the SFPE Foundation).

If selected for award, recipients must:

• Complete a grant acceptance form and any required tax documents requested by SFPE Foundation.
• Agree to accept or decline the grant within 10 business days of notification of the award.
• Agree to be named on the SFPE Foundation website and/or in other Foundation-affiliated communications outlets, including providing a picture with usage permission and description of the applicant’s work as it pertains to the SFPE Foundation’s mission.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated by SFPE Foundation staff with oversight and involvement from the SFPE Foundation Awards Committee. In making these awards, the SFPE Foundation will take under consideration a range of factors, including:

• Whether the applicant is speaking or presenting at the event. (50%)
• Whether the applicant can demonstrate a need for funding. (30%)
• Whether the applicant can demonstrate that they would derive particular benefit from attending that specific conference or event. (20%)

In addition to the criteria listed above, the SFPE Foundation will consider a range of other factors when making the final selection, such as: any real or perceived conflicts of interest, the number of applicants, the availability of student travel funds, the proximity of applicants to the event location, and/or any other factors deemed relevant to meeting the goals of the Student Travel Grant program and consistent with the SFPE Foundation’s mission and strategic goals.  

How to Apply

To be considered for the award, applicants must submit their materials through the application portal online. Applicants are expected to complete their own application form. As part of the application form, you will be required to upload your full application as a PDF. 

The following materials are required to be included in your PDF upload:

• Name and date of the conference for which you are seeking travel support, e.g., SFPE Annual Conference & Expo on October 6 – 8, 2024. 
• Full name, email address, phone number, and mailing address of the applicant. 
• The location (city/town, state/province, and country) that you would be traveling from to attend the conference. 
• Academic program type (undergraduate, graduate, or recent graduate with graduation date) and university name/affiliation of the applicant.
• Full name, email address, job title, and university affiliation of the applicant’s academic supervisor.
• Written confirmation that, if selected, you are able to abide by all terms and conditions of the award as outlined in the Student Travel Grant Policy. 
• Please describe whether you have already been accepted to speak or present at this event, including the title of your presentation and the presentation format (e.g., poster, breakout session). 
• If you have applied to speak at the event but not yet received confirmation of your proposal’s acceptance, please include those details here. 
• Please describe why you need this funding from the SFPE Foundation in order to attend this conference. This should include an explanation of whether you have tried to get funding from other sources. 
• This section must also include a description of any funding you are already receiving (including the name of the source) that may contribute to your ability to attend the conference. 
• You should also include a budget that describes in detail how you intend to use the funding requested, including the total amount as well as how it will be allocated according to the allowable costs detailed above (e.g., travel expenses, accommodations, meals, etc.). Where possible, include documentation to support the estimates provided in the budget (e.g., screenshot of a plane ticket, hotel costs, etc.). The budget may be provided in table format followed by a paragraph explaining and justifying the expenses.
• Explain how receiving this Travel Grant to attend this conference in particular would align with your professional goals and ambitions. 
• You may also include any other details in this section that you would like us to take under consideration in review of your application. 

You are also required to upload a completed Conflicts of Interest Disclosure Form. Download the form here , complete it, save as a PDF, and be prepared to upload it in the application form linked above. Your application will not be considered complete without this.

Applications are accepted via our online submission portal and reviewed according to the timeline provided below: 

• For the SFPE Performance-Based Design Conference or SFPE European Conference (typically held in April in alternating years), applicants should submit by January 1 for priority consideration. Funding decisions are typically expected by the end of January.
• For the SFPE Annual Conference & Expo (typically held in October), applicants should submit by July 1 for full consideration. Funding decisions are typically expected by the end of July.

College/university’s financial aid office

Whether your your university has any in-house scholarships to give out will depend on your school. Some do and some do not. However, it’s likely that they will at least be able to guide you towards other resources, including websites, local organizations, or companies.

Scholarship websites

There are many online platforms and databases that compile information about scholarships, including those for student travel. Sites like Scholarships.com , Fastweb , or the College Board’s scholarship search are excellent tools to finding tons of scholarship opportunities. These websites allow you to search for scholarships based on various criteria. Search criteria can include your field of study, academic achievements, and travel plans. This means you can find scholarships to help with your usual tuition and also scholarships to help fund that study abroad trip or other educational endeavor.

Professional associations or organizations

Many professional associations and organizations offer travel grants and scholarships to students pursuing studies or research in specific fields. Explore the websites of relevant associations or inquire with professors in your department to learn about such opportunities. For example, the American Psychological Association (APA) offers travel grants and scholarships for psychology students to attend conferences, present research, or participate in other educational activities related to the field of psychology.

Government agencies or Nonprofit organizations

Government agencies, both at the federal and state levels, as well as nonprofit organizations, sometimes offer travel grants and scholarships to support educational initiatives. The National Science Foundation (NSF) offers grants and fellowships to support research and education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This includes funding for travel-related expenses associated with research projects, conferences, workshops, and other collaborative activities.

Social media and your own network

Joining online communities and forums related to your field of study or interests can sometimes lead to discovering lesser-known travel grant opportunities shared by fellow students or professionals. Be sure to reach out to people you know too. You never know who may have insights into a random opportunity that you might not have otherwise heard of. Your networking abilities can be hugely important to landing internships, jobs, grants, etc.

Local community organizations and businesses

Some local community organizations, businesses, or philanthropic foundations may offer scholarships or grants to support students from the area in pursuing educational travel experiences. This, of course, depends on where you live and what your local community is like. So you may have to do some digging. Try searching by your town, county, state, and region. Then search for the closest city and the closest major city area to help expand your chances of finding opportunities.

Tips for travel grant and scholarship applications

If you want to earn yourself a grant or a scholarship you need to have a strong application. Your application must stand out amongst all the others that are submitted. It should demonstrate why you should receive the finances versus anyone else. But you also won’t want to portray yourself as whiney, negative, or lacking professionalism. Use these quick dos and don’ts to guide your application process.

• Research extensively : Look around for all the scholarship and grant opportunities you can find. The more you apply for, the better your odds. Also be sure to thoroughly research the organization your applying to. This level of research will help you tailor your application to match what values they believe in.
• Start early : This will help you manage your time so you aren’t submitting rushed work right before the deadline. Or worse, missing the deadline altogether.
• Read instructions carefully : Nothing will hurt your chances more of winning the financial aid than submitting an application that didn’t follow the instructions they laid out. Following instructions shows that you are detail-oriented, a good reader, and a good listener. Not following instructions showcases you as being careless or not thinking.
• Customize and highlight : While oftentimes the barebones basics of applications can be applied to multiple application processes, you don’t want your entire application to be so generic that it could be used for any organization. You’ll stand out as a much better candidate if you tailor each application to highlight your unique qualities that align to that specific application’s prompts or that organization generally.
• Proofread : Be thorough and take the time to review all your materials before submitting. Maybe even enlist the eyes of a friend or family member to read things over and make sure it looks good. Ensure that all your materials are clear, concise, coherent, and accurate. Check for spelling and grammar errors, too.

Don’ts

• Miss the deadline : This is at the top of the don’ts list because it is quite literally the one thing you really cannot do. If you miss the deadline, it’s too late and you’ve missed your chance to apply.
• Exaggerate, lie, or be too negative : Besides being unethical, you shouldn’t lie in your application because you don’t know what amount of fact checking they will do. You might think it will make you stand out and look better to say you once won a prestigious award. But when they request proof, you’ll be out of the running when they find out you lied. Honesty and integrity are paramount in scholarship applications.
• Submit bad writing : Not everyone is great at writing and that’s totally okay. Your first draft doesn’t need to be perfect! However, it’s important that you show professionalism by submitting writing that is free of grammar or punctuation errors, does not use slang, and actually makes sense. Do not submit work that was written by AI. It might seem like a quick cheat to get the work done fast, but it’s not hard to tell the difference between the average person’s word choice and the words those sites tend to choose.
• Use a negative tone : Avoid conveying a negative attitude or tone in your application materials. Instead, focus on highlighting your strengths, achievements, and aspirations in a positive and optimistic manner.
• Disregard criteria : Every application process has its own set of requirements so it’s important you include everything they ask for. Some things you might expect to see asked for include letters of recommendation, a transcript, portfolio, essay, or various answers to writing prompts. Forgetting to include something asked for is a quick way to remove yourself from consideration for the financial aid.

2 Best CIEE Travel Grants for College Students

If you’re planning for a study abroad adventure, chances are you’re starting to get organized and assess what needs to be done ahead of your travels. And one of the most important steps: Exploring your study abroad scholarship and grant options .  

Let’s dive in as we discuss two of the best CIEE travel grants for students like yourself and learn more about how you can make your study abroad dream a reality!  

GAIN Travel Grant  

CIEE’s GAIN Travel Grant is part of our need-based scholarship offerings based on students’ Student Aid Index (SAI)* from their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Submission Summary at their enrolled institution.  

This travel grant helps students with their travel costs to and from their study abroad or internship program destination ( up to $1,500 for semester and quarter programs , and u p to $500 for J-Term , summer , and single block programs ).  

Any student with an SAI below 10,000 is guaranteed to receive this grant, while those more than 10,000, will still be considered post-deadline. Important to note: The deadline for this grant is October 15 for spring and J-Term programs and April 1 for summer and fall programs. 

The steps to apply for the GAIN Travel Grant are super simple:   

• Step 1: Students upload their FAFSA Submission Summary 
• Step 2: Submit a CIEE Scholarships and Grants application by October 15 for spring and J-Term programs/ April 1 for summer and fall programs

This is an incredible opportunity for students to receive some extra assistance with their travel costs!  

Trailblazer Grant  

Also part of our travel grants is the Trailblazer Grant, which is considered in our third category of scholarship offerings, deemed “other,” based on specific study abroad programs. This particular grant is awarded to students who travel on a new 2025 spring , summer , or fall study abroad program with CIEE.  

CIEE offers many qualifying spring, summer, and fall programs for this specific travel grant that span several countries including:

• New Zealand
• South Korea

Students may receive up to $1,500 in the form of a flight voucher for their eligible CIEE program and, like our other scholarship and grant options, the steps to applying are straightforward. Once you’ve decided on your new 2025 spring, summer, or fall program, all you’ll need to do is the following:

While the application process for our travel grants and travel scholarships is relatively straightforward, we’re sure you have some questions. And we don’t blame you! It can seem like a complicated process and it’s all brand-new information.  

We’ve compiled some of our most frequently asked questions about our travel grants and answered them!  

What is a travel grant?  

Starting with the very basics, a grant is a non-refundable endowment given by an individual, organization, or government department for a specific purpose linked to public benefit. Travel grants – in the case of studying abroad – are awarded to students from a non-profit organization, (that’s us: CIEE), to assist students in their international education. And the public benefit is robust – creating global citizens who will make the world a better place (that’s you)!  

It’s important to note that travel grants aren’t just awarded to students. For example, researchers can apply for travel grants to expand their studies, and many other instances.  

Do scholarships cover travel expenses?  

Yes! Some of our travel scholarships cover travel expenses, but some are specific to program fees. For example, while the GAIN Travel Grant helps cover travel costs, the Gilman Go Global Grant helps cover semester program fees. Take a close look at each of our offerings on our scholarships and grants page to best understand what type of aid covers specific aspects of your study abroad program and travels.

How do I ask for travel funding?  

As the question implies, simply asking for travel funding is perfectly acceptable!  

We always have CIEE staff available to help point you in the right direction. As we’ve mentioned, exploring our scholarships and grants page is a great place to start, as well as consulting with your on-campus study abroad office; they might have some additional travel grants and scholarships related to your specific institution. Your academic advisor might even be able to provide some helpful resources.  

What’s important to note is that there are a lot of different places and people to look to for help with travel funding, and CIEE is another wonderful resource to support you and help make your study abroad program affordable and accessible.  

How to apply for a travel grant?  

As we’ve mentioned, applying for a travel grant with CIEE is simple! On your CIEE application, make sure to fill out the scholarship and grants portion. And if you have any questions, we’re happy to help!

Travel Grants for Academic Conferences

Travel Grants support College students who wish to present their research at scholarly meetings off campus and may be used to defray the cost of travel and/or conference registration fees to participate in an academic conference.

Grants may be awarded to College students who are presenting a research paper or a poster, mentored by a faculty member, at a scholarly meeting. The fund will provide grants of up to $600. Students may apply for one travel grant per academic year. Graduating seniors are eligible for funding if their research will be presented at an academic conference before they graduate.

Application, Selection and Reimbursement  

The deadlines for submissions of application materials are September 20, November 1, February 1 or May 1. A committee will review the applications and inform selected students by October 1, November 15, February 15 or May 15 depending on the submission cycle.

To apply for a grant:

• Print and complete the application form , including the proposed budget.
• Complete a one-page abstract of your paper/poster. Indicate if paper/poster has been accepted for presentation and include name of the research mentor for your paper/poster.
• Obtain a letter of support from your research mentor or your undergraduate chair/program director.
• Submit the material above before the application deadline to:

Google Travel and Conference Grants

At Google, we believe a diversity of attributes, experiences, and perspectives are needed to build tools that can change the world. Everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue a career in computer science and technology, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability or military service. To help break down the barriers that prevent underrepresented groups in computer science from attending leading tech conferences, we're excited to offer Google Travel and Conference Grants for selected conferences in Computer Science and related fields. Grants are available in North America for all traditionally underrepresented groups in technology (including, but not limited to, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, persons with disabilities, women and veterans), in Europe for women in technology, in India and in Africa for students who have their research papers accepted at top-tier conferences in Computer Science and related areas.

To encourage attendance at technical conferences, Google will provide selected recipients:

• Free conference registration
• North America: A $500 reimbursement to retroactively be used toward airfare and accommodation costs (will be awarded after the conference)
• Europe: Up to 1000 EUR towards travel and accommodation costs (will be paid after the conference)
• India: An award in the range of $1000 - $3,000 that will cover conference registration, travel, accommodation and other related expenses.
• Africa: An award in the range of $1000 to $3000 that will cover conference registration, travel, accommodation and related expenses. Grant amount depends on cost for the international conference.​
• Japan & South Korea: Up to $3000 towards air tickets and lodging cost (will be paid after the conference). Grant amount depends on cost for the international conference.​

Grant eligibility varies by region, so please review the information on the region-specific pages on the left. Grants will be awarded to the most qualified persons based on application review. Every applicant will be notified of their status according to the time frames specified for the region.

North America

Eligibility.

To be eligible for a grant to attend a conference in North America, applicants must:

• Be a resident of North America
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Work or study in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a technical field related to the conference subject
• Have a strong academic and/or professional background with demonstrated leadership ability

• ICMCP (International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals) (Deadline: July 6, 2018)

• Be a woman working or studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical field related to the conference subject (no residency restrictions apply)
• Women of Silicon Roundabout 2018 (Deadline: April 27th 2018)
• International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) (Deadline: May 1, 2018)
• International Conference of Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining (KDD) (Deadline: June 8, 2018)
• European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) (Deadline: June 29, 2018)
• SREcon 2018 (Deadline: July 1st 2018)
• European Women in Tech 2018 (Deadline: September 1st 2018)

Please submit this form by the deadline for the conference listed above that you wish to attend.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email, approximately three to four weeks prior to the conference. If you are selected, you will receive additional information on how to register for the conference and how to receive your grant.

To be eligible for a grant to attend a conference in India, applicants must:

• Be a student enrolled with a recognized university in India who is in need of conference travel funds.
• Have a paper accepted at a top-tier top-tier Computer Science conference. We prefer to support conferences in research areas where Google has a strong interest. Please visit research.google.com for a list of areas. The paper must be accepted for full publication and preferably full oral presentation. As an indicator, we have recently approved travel grants for CVPR, NIPS, CHI, STOC, PLDI, COLT, ICML, CIKM, KDD, ICCV, EMNLP, ACL, Interspeech and FSE.
• Be the primary author of the accepted paper.
• Have a paper accepted for oral presentation in the main conference program. Some conferences may have different presentation guidelines in which case the equivalent of a conventional full oral presentation must be considered. Workshop papers will not be approved for travel grants.

Once approved for a travel grant, the funds will be paid to the applicant’s university and the student may claim expenses using regular university procedures. We prefer to support conferences in research areas where Google has a strong interest. Please visit research.google.com for a list of areas. The paper must be accepted for full publication and preferably full oral presentation. Workshop papers will not be approved for travel grants.
• Be the sole or joint first author of the accepted paper.

Please submit this form by the deadline for the conference that you wish to attend. We are currently accepting applications for conferences in 2018 only.

• Be a full-time student enrolled with a recognized university in Japan or South Korea who is in need of conference travel funds.
• Have a paper accepted at a top-tier Computer Science conference. We prefer to support conferences in research areas where Google has a strong interest. Please visit research.google.com for a list of areas. Please refer to popular conference rankings to determine the conference tier.

We review applications in the first week of every month, except public holidays. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email. If you are selected, you will receive additional information on how to receive your grant.

Travel Grants

Travel Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to students who have had an abstract or artist statement accepted for a presentation at a regional or national conference. A maximum of $300 may be awarded per student for domestic travel, and a maximum of $500 may be awarded per student for international travel each academic year. The Travel Grant may be used to cover expenses such as hotel costs, airfare or mileage, and registration fees for presenting at in-person or virtual conferences.

This award is a reimbursement award only; you arrange and purchase your registration and travel prior to the conference, and the Travel Grant reimburses you after the conference. Before applying for a Travel Grant, please review the Travel Reimbursement Guidelines . These guidelines explain allowable expenses, receipts you will need, and documentation you will need to provide.

Please note that expenses will only be reimbursed when  original, itemized receipts  are submitted.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply for a Travel Grant, please submit the Travel Grant Pre-Approval Form via email at [email protected] . This application must be submitted at least one month before the virtual conference date or your departure date and within the academic year in which the expenses are incurred. Travel Grants are not available during summer session.

Please note : Due to university fiscal close protocols, the Undergraduate Research Center is  unable to process Travel Grants submitted between June 1 and June 30.

The Office of Undergraduate Research provides funding opportunities for students whose research requires travel or other support.

When to Apply:  Grants are considered monthly. Travel Grant and Small Grant applications are reviewed and applicants are notified of the outcome by the 7th day of every month. This means all applications (including faculty mentor portion) must be submitted no later than the last day of the previous month. Grants are for future expenses only ( applications submitted in the same month as the travel will not be accepted ).

• Submit a final report within 60 days of receiving the grant (or, in the case of a Travel Grant, within 60 days after the travel).
• Acknowledge support from the University of Utah Office of Undergraduate Research in the dissemination of the research. Faculty mentors are expected to :

• Mentor the student in her/his pursuit of the proposed research project.
• Support the expectations of students listed above.

We suggest the following: This work was supported by travel and small grant funding provided by the Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of Utah awarded to [student's name, Semester, Year]. Note to applicants:

• Once you complete the student portion of the application, you will be instructed to forward your submission confirmation email to your faculty mentor, who must then complete the faculty mentor portion of the application before the application will be considered for funding. Incomplete applications expire after 30 days and must be re-submitted to be considered.
• To the extent possible in light of the award criteria, Small Grants and Travel Grants are distributed throughout the colleges and schools on campus.
• Funding from the travel grant program (max $500) might cover expenses for future: airfare, lodging, conference registration, mileage (funding may not be used for gas).

If awarded a Small or Travel grant, funds will be electronically transferred to an administrative contact person in the mentor's department. Travel Grants for Conferences

Urc-sciences travel grant description.

The URC-Sciences Travel Grant supports UCLA undergraduates who have had their life science, physical science, or engineering research abstract accepted for an oral or poster presentation at a regional, national, or international conference. The research being presented does not need to have taken place at UCLA, but all applicants must be UCLA undergraduates at the time they conducted the research being presented and at the time of conference attendance. This grant is paid as a reimbursement after conference attendance. Applicants may be approved for up to $300 per academic year (July 1 – June 30). Students should only apply for this grant after their project has been accepted for presentation and after successfully registering for the conference.

Our application is now open for the 2024-2025 academic year. Applications are due four weeks before the conference start date. Funding is limited; students are encouraged to apply as far in advance as possible.

Approved applicants must submit all itemized receipts being claimed for reimbursement after the end of the conference. All expenses must be paid directly by the student to qualify for reimbursement. Expenses paid by a third party cannot be reimbursed. Eligible expenses include conference registration fees, economy-class airfare, hotel/lodging, ground transportation (including ride-share apps), mileage (distance traveled in personal vehicle only) and parking fees.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

• Applications must be submitted four weeks prior to the conference start date.
• Applicants must be UCLA undergraduates at the time they conducted the research being presented and during conference attendance.
• Applicants are responsible for booking their own travel and payment.
• This grant is paid as a reimbursement after conference attendance. A maximum of $300 may be awarded per student per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
• If approved, awardees must submit required documents within five business days after the conference end date.

REIMBURSEMENT GUIDELINES

• The following expenses are eligible for reimbursement: conference registration fees, economy-class airfare, hotel/lodging, ground transportation (including rideshare apps), mileage (distance traveled in a personal vehicle) and parking fees.
• The following expenses are not eligible for reimbursement: membership fees, gasoline (gas costs are computed into the mileage reimbursement rate), prepaid packaged trips (combined airfare and hotel packages), meals and food purchases, poster printing, and any other expenses not eligible for reimbursement.
• Student employees will be reimbursed using the same method that they receive payroll. Students not employed by UCLA will be reimbursed via Zelle.
• Reimbursements will only be processed after the conference end date and after submission of required documents.
• If costs are shared with additional travelers, travel grant awardees must obtain a separate bill for their own individual expenses.
• Third-party reimbursements are not permitted – all expenses must be paid by the student directly. Expenses paid by a third-party (anyone other than the awardee) will not be reimbursed.

SUBMISSION OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The following documentation must be submitted within five business days after the conference end date. Instructions on how to submit this documentation will be provided if your application is approved.

• Photo of registration badge or other proof of conference attendance
• Date of purchase
• Traveler’s Name – if debit/credit card is used for payment
• Description of what was purchased
• Total cost of purchase
• Method of Payment
• A photocopy of the credit/debit cards used for payment or bank statements.

Biology Division of the Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) Biology Travel Awards:

The Biology Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is offering a limited number of travel grants, up to $250 each, for undergraduate students presenting original research results at a regional or national, discipline-specific meeting during the fiscal year. Award recipients are required to acknowledge CUR for support of their travel in their talk or poster, to complete a short evaluation form about their meeting experience and to submit a PDF file of their poster. Minority students are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Undergraduate student must be a junior or senior and travel must be completed within 3 months of graduation.
• Student’s mentor must be a CUR member or the student’s home institution must be a CUR institutional member
• Student’s home institution must provide at least a 50% match to support travel

Application materials:

• Electronic application form to be completed by nominating faculty mentor.
• Reimbursement of travel expenses (up to $250) will require copies of receipts and confirmation of student’s attendance/presentation at the meeting.

Selection Criteria: Travel Award recipients will be chosen based on the scholarly merit of their abstract, which should include:

• A sentence that clearly states the study’s OBJECTIVE (unless included in the title);
• A brief statement of METHODS (if pertinent);
• A summary of the RESULTS;
• A statement of CONCLUSIONS (it is not acceptable to state “the results will be discussed”);
• A statement of SIGNIFICANCE.

Deadline: Applications must be received by mid January for meetings held between February and June. Applicants will be notified four to six weeks after the deadline. See  additional details .

Overview and Eligibility

The GPSA Travel Grant Program exists to support the academic and professional development endeavors of ASU graduate and professional students. The program offers five distinct grants through which costs associated with students' travel to and from academic conferences and professional development events can be reimbursed.

To be eligible to apply for a grant, applicants must be current ASU graduate students (degree or non-degree seeking) enrolled in at least one graduate level credit at the time of application and at the time of travel. Online students are now eligible. Travel must be directly related to applicants program of study.

Applications are peer-reviewed by trained fellow graduate students around three criteria: Purpose (Detailed description and significance of the travel); Service within the community, ASU and/or GPSA and a well-justified Travel Budget.

Applications for Individual Travel Grants, Group Travel Grants, Career Development Grants (both in and Out-of-State), and Out-of-State Internship grants are due on the 1st of every month, two months prior to the month of departure. Applicants may apply up to three months ahead of their departure date, but no more than three months and no less than two months ahead. 

Applications for in-state Internship Travel Grants are due November 1, March 1 and July 1 during the semester that the internship takes place and Interview Travel grants are due October 1 and February 1.

Reimbursable expenses may differ depending on the specific grant.

Individual, Group, Career Development, and Interview grants generally cover the following:

• Flight/Mileage
• Transportation to/from airport
• Meals (per diem)

The following expenses are generally not reimbursable:

• Moving expenses
• Car rental/insurance
• Lodging, meals etc for Local Interviews
• Phone calls or internet access charges
• Expenses paid in cash

Out-of-State internships cover round-trip airfare only

In-state Internship Grant covers mileage from campus to internship location and non-campus related parking.

Application Process

Determine which grant you should apply for and read the details of that grant from the links on the left sidebar.

Submit an application through ZoomGrants via the GPSA ZoomGrants Page .

You must remove all identifying information from your application and application documents.

Late applications (past 11:59 pm, 1st of the month, two months prior of departure month) will not be considered.

Applications will be peer-reviewed and applicants notified on their application status three-four weeks after the application deadline.

Applications will be evaluated using the Travel Grant Application Rubrics . Please note that the Travel Grants Program is highly competitive. On average, only 40% of all applicants are awarded funding.

If your application isn’t selected for funding, you can reach out to the Director of Travel for a summary of reviewers’ comments on your application.

If your application is awarded, be sure to follow the instructions in the award letter diligently. Not doing so could prevent you from receiving reimbursements.

GPSS has allocated $30,000 to support graduate students for the 2023-24 academic year. The typical funding amounts are:

• up to $300 for travel in the U.S.
• up to $500 for international travel (please ensure you have registered your travel with UW GTS ).
• up to $300 for virtual conference registration

It is also our goal to assist as many graduate students as possible. We will score applications using this travel grants rubric . The GPSS Travel Grants Committee (TGC) comprises graduate students from various academic backgrounds, so the content of your application should be written in a style for non-experts.

Requirements / Prioritization for Travel Grants Application

• Have presentation / engage actively in the event (e.g. panel chair)
• Whether is in the final year of their study
• Attend Only

We will review applications on a rolling basis. The departmental contact is usually NOT your advisor/PI. Historically, this has caused the most delays in students receiving their travel grant. You will also need to identify one faculty recommender.

Important Notice

Please read below for specific information regarding the funding transfer in light of UW’s Financial Transformation to Workday. We recommend you share this with your Shared Environment Accountants or other fiscal support staff who will administer this funding.

• The HUB will initiate the transfer of funds to your department’s Cost Center and other provided tags (Program, Grant, Gift, Activity, or Project).
• All funds will use the Services and Activities Fee Resource (RS100298).
• Purchases made using any other Resource Tag will need to be reclassed, by your department’s Shared Environment Accountants, to use the Services and Activities Fee Resource in order to apply the Travel Grant funds to the purchase.
• Other questions pertaining to purchasing methods and funding transfers should be directed to your Shared Environment Accountants or other fiscal support staff. HUB Finance and Business Operations does not have the capacity to provide support beyond initiating the transfer.

Travel Grants Operation Timeline

Eligibility

• GPSS strongly suggested applicants to apply beforehand, at least one month in advanced is preferred due to the evaluation processing time among different unit.

Can I apply after the conference ends?

• No, we only accept applications where the event / conference is happening in the upcoming future . Application with passed event date or event date that is occurring within 10 days will not be considered, since it usually took up to at least 2 weeks for the evaluation process to be completed.

I don’t know my school’s budget number, what should I do?

• The GPSS does not have access to your department’s budget information.
• Please reach out to your department/program’s Shared Environment Accountants or other fiscal support staff who will administer the funding.
• The HUB will initiate the transfer of funds to your department’s Cost Center and other provided tags (Program / Grant / Gift / Activity / Project).
• All funds will use the Services and Activities Fee Resource tag (RS100298).
• Purchases made using any other Resource tag will need to be reclassed, by your department’s Shared Environment Accountants, to use the Services and Activities Resource tag in order to apply the Travel Grant funds to the purchase.

Eligibility

UW graduate and professional students who are currently enrolled and in good academic standing may apply for this travel grant. Applications for conferences that have already occurred will NOT be accepted.

Only one application per conference event/presentation is permitted. Though students may apply only once per conference event, students may apply as many times as they like during their UW student career for different events/presentations. Students may only receive a maximum of two awards during one’s UW graduate and professional student career.

We are aware there is a gap in coverage of summer travel. The GPSS part of the process is usually very quick since we grade applications as we receive completed materials, which include the student form, conference acceptance, and faculty recommendations. However, communications with departmental budgeting staff is usually slow during the summer and we have no way of ensuring that travel funding has been received by students.

Thank you for your interest in GPSS Travel Grants. The Travel Grants Committee (TGC) has formed for the 2021-22 academic year, and has decided to funded in-person and virtual conferences, workshops, and performances.

The previous senate has allocated $25,000 to support graduate students for the 2021-22 academic year. The typical funding amounts are:

Although applications are competitive, it is also our goal to assist as many graduate students as possible. We will score applications using this travel grants rubric . The TGC comprises graduate students from various academic backgrounds, so the content of your application should be written in a style for non-experts.

We will review applications on a rolling basis. In the meantime, if you are planning to apply, please have your department’s budget or financial contact and obtain a UW budget code (##-#####) . The departmental contact is usually NOT your advisor/PI. Historically, this has caused the most delays in students receiving their travel grant. However, you will also need to identify one faculty recommender.

[Archived] Spring 2021 Update

For the duration of the suspension of in-person learning activities at the University of Washington, GPSS Travel Grants Committee will be considering applications for non-presenting attendees to remote conferences or seminars. These applications will be held to the same standards as traditional Travel Grants and reviewed on a rolling basis; applications should be reviewed within 2 weeks of submission. Any attendance grants awarded within this period will not count towards the travel funding limitations (once every three years and a maximum of two awards during one’s UW student career).

In an effort to help improve graduate and professional student life at the University of Washington, the GPSS Travel Grants Program contributes funds to qualifying individuals’ travel expenses for participation in domestic or international conferences.

The goal of this is twofold: first, to facilitate and promote the intellectual and professional development of graduate and professional students, and also to encourage mutually beneficial interaction among students and GPSS Senators. GPSS Travel Grants further contribute to the strengthening of UW and its prominence in the greater scholarly community through broadening students’ personal and academic development through exposure to the work of others elsewhere.

Students whose conference participation might otherwise be underfunded and are making fair progress towards their respective degrees are encouraged to apply. The amount of funding awarded will be based on conference location, with typical awards being up to $300 for conferences in the United States and $500 for international conferences.

The GPSS Travel Grants Committee reserves the right to make individual award adjustments based upon an applicant’s expressed need of both an individual applicant or the applicant pool as a whole.

College grants can come from the government, state or your school and help you lower educational costs

With the overall cost of college—tuition, fees, housing, food, and other expenses—ranging from about $29,000 to $60,00 per year as reported by the College Board , financial aid is essential for many students. Grants, a form of need-based aid, can significantly reduce these expenses.

Unlike student loans, grants don't require repayment, making them a valuable resource for eligible students. In the 2022-23 school year, undergraduates received an average of $10,680 in grant money. Here's what you need to know to take advantage of this crucial financial support.

What is a college grant?

College grants are a type of gift aid that provides students with funding that doesn't need to be repaid. Typically, grants are available to students who demonstrate financial need.

Grants can come from various sources, including the federal government, state governments or individual colleges. To qualify, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The federal government, as well as many states and colleges, use the FAFSA to determine your eligibility for grants by assessing your financial need. Based on the information you provide in the FAFSA, they calculate the amount of grant money you're eligible to receive.

Who qualifies for college grants?

To qualify for college grants, you must generally demonstrate financial need. Your school's financial aid office determines this by looking at your Student Aid Index (SAI) and the school's total cost of attendance , which includes tuition, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, loan fees, and wide range of other miscellaneous expenses.

Your SAI is calculated based on the tax information you provide in the FAFSA, indicating your level of need-a lower SAI means greater financial need.

The school then subtracts your SAI from its cost of attendance to figure out how much grant money you can receive.

You can use the Federal Student Aid Estimator to see how much financial aid you might be eligible for.

Types of grants for college

Federal grants.

Federal grants from the U.S. Department of Education are generally reserved for undergraduate students with financial need.

State grants

You can also find grants for college in your state of residence. To find your state higher education agency, click on your state using this map provided by the U.S. Department of Education. From there, click on the websites listed to find information about college grants available in your state. Some examples include:

• New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP): New York residents who meet the income eligibility requirements may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The award amount for the 2024-25 school year is $1,000 to $5,665. The TAP grant considers income, cost of attendance and financial status to determine the award amount.
• Cal Grant Program: California students who meet the income and asset eligibility requirements may qualify for Cal Grant A, B or C. You must be an undergraduate student and demonstrate financial need. The award amounts vary by type of grant and school. For example, Cal Grant A is up to $5,742 if attending a California State University. If attending a University of California, the Cal Grant A goes up to $13,752.
• Wisconsin Talent Incentive Program (TIP) Grant: Wisconsin resident students who demonstrate financial need and are educationally disadvantaged can receive up to $600 to $1,800 as an initial award. You must be nominated by a counselor or your school's financial aid office. Continuing awards can vary each year and are available for a maximum of 10 semesters.

Institutional grants

Institutional grants come from your college or university. Each educational institution will have different eligibility requirements to qualify. However, like most other grants they're reserved for students with demonstrated financial need.

To qualify, you need to fill out and submit the FAFSA. Some colleges may also require you to fill out an institutional form or the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile.

Institutional grant aid made up 40% of grants, according to the Urban Institute . This type of aid is on the rise, as institutional aid increased sharply over the past decade from $57.7 billion in 2012-13 to $76.9 billion in 2022-23 as reported by the College Board.

How to apply for college grants

Do your research.

Every school may have different grant opportunities available with its own requirements. "The first step for all students is to go to the financial aid office website for the college or university that they're attending or planning to attend. On that website they'll see the instructions for how to apply for need-based aid at that college," said Paul Dieken, Ed.D., director of financial aid at Pomona College.

Fill out the FAFSA

Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is the primary way to qualify for grants for college. You must submit the form every year while in school.

"The FAFSA is required in order to apply for federal need-based grants like the Pell Grant," said Dieken. "It also forms the core of the application for most state grant programs, however, students should definitely find the website for their state grant program and make sure that there are no additional application materials required for financial aid grants in their state."

Grant funds are usually limited, so submit your FAFSA as early as possible. The FAFSA for the 2024-25 school year opened in December 2023 and is available through June 30, 2025.

Maintain eligibility

Grants are essentially free money because unlike student loans they don't require repayment. However, grants for college typically have requirements to maintain eligibility, such as attending school full-time or pursuing a specific career, like with TEACH grants. If you withdraw from school or no longer meet the eligibility requirements, you may need to repay the grant.

How will I receive my grant funds?

If you qualify for a college grant, the funds may go to your school, be disbursed to you or both.

"In general, need-based and merit-based funding from the federal government, state aid program or the college or university will be credited to the student's account. This is usually the same account that their tuition and housing is billed to, and the gift aid is applied against those charges," said Dieken.

Can I qualify for multiple grants?

You may be eligible for multiple college grants, however, the total amount typically can't be more than the cost of attendance at your school. However, you can only receive a Pell Grant from one school. If you qualify for Pell Grants from two different colleges, the federal government requires you to send one of them back.

How can a single parent pay for college?

For any student — including single moms or dads — a good first step to getting financial aid for college is to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ® ) . This application helps students qualify for aid like grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and federal student loans.

It’s important to remember that the only way to qualify for many types of aid is to file the FAFSA ® before the deadline and to ensure you list all the schools you’re planning to apply to on the application.

If you’re accepted by schools that you have applied to, they’ll send you aid award letters after you complete the FAFSA ® , which will outline what financial aid, if any, they’re making available to you. Aid offerings will vary from school to school.

If you still need more financial assistance after you’ve received award letters, you can apply for other types of aid to assist with your goal of attending college.

How much can a single parent get from FAFSA ® ?

How much you receive from FAFSA ® depends on your financial situation, including your income and assets, like how much is in your bank account. As a single parent filling out the application, one key thing to note is that you'll likely be able to include your children on the form as dependents, which could impact how much financial aid you’re offered.

Financial aid appeal letter for single parents

If you received financial aid award letters and the aid offered to you is not enough to help you afford college, in certain circumstances it might be worth submitting an aid appeal. A financial aid appeal could be beneficial if you’ve had a substantial change in your financial situation, such as having a baby or unforeseen medical bills since the tax year asked for on the FAFSA ® .

Filing for an aid appeal shows your school that your financial situation differs from what they see on the FAFSA ® and could help prove your case that you need more financial aid. has a different process for its aid appeals, but generally, you need to fill out a form and write a letter stating your circumstances and financial impacts.

Schools typically set aside money for students who file aid appeals. If you’re going to appeal your aid package, it’s best to do it as soon as possible, when those additional funds are more likely to be available.

Filing for an aid appeal doesn't guarantee more aid, but based on your individual situation it might be worth a shot.

Grants for single parents

As we highlighted above, grants are a valuable form of financial aid because, for the most part, they don’t need to be paid back. Here’s some of the grants that may be available for single parents, including single moms.

Pell Grants

Federal Pell Grants, a need-based grant provided by the federal government, is a type of aid that undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need may be awarded, including single parents. The maximum award for the 2024-25 academic year (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025) is $7,395. The U.S. Department of Education announces the amount for the upcoming academic year every February.

Other grants for single parents

In addition to the Pell Grant, many grants are open to single parents nationwide. They’re offered at the state and federal levels, as well as through private organizations and companies.

The best way to find grants for single parents is to contact the financial aid office at your school and ask if they know of any specific grant opportunities for students like yourself. They should be able to provide a list of available grants.

State grants for single parents

Many states offer grants and other financial aid programs for single parents. A great way to find grants that fit your needs is to check your state’s website, or the state website of the area you’re going to school in and see what’s available.

Hardship grants for single parents

If you’re going through a financial hardship and need additional help paying for college, contact the financial aid office at your school. They should be able to help point you toward financial aid opportunities to help you.

Being a single parent who's also attending school can be tough, especially if you’re already facing financial issues. There may be hardship grants or assistance programs out there to help.

The financial aid office is there to help students access the aid they need to complete their college education. Don’t hesitate to utilize this resource if you’re in need of help.

Scholarships for single parents

Like grants, scholarships are generally funds you don’t have to pay back . Luckily, there’re many scholarships available to single parents.

Some scholarships are accessible outside of the FAFSA ® and require their own applications and qualifications (although you may be required to also fill out the FAFSA ® in addition to their unique applications). It’s vital to read through each scholarship application and ensure you meet the qualifications.

The best way to find scholarships is to do an online search through a trustworthy scholarship database, such as the U.S. Department of Labor's scholarship search tool. Beware of scams , and make sure as you search that you’re on the lookout for scholarships available in the years you’re looking to attend school.

There're many opportunities for single moms and dads to get financial aid for college. While it often takes research and dedication to secure aid, several resources are available to help you through the process, including your school’s financial aid office and other counseling services. To be eligible for consideration for a travel grant, applicants must:

• Submit an abstract  for their presentation through the AMS abstract submission portal no later than Tuesday, September 21, 2023
• Complete the application   for the travel grant no later than Friday, October 22, 2022  
• Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in a U.S. institution at the time of JMM

The award amounts are anticipated to be up to $1,080 to defray travel, housing, and subsistence. Applications are especially encouraged from students from groups that have been underrepresented in the mathematical science and from those with need for travel support.

The Armenian Diaspora within the system of Inter-ethnic relations in a multi-ethnic region (on the example of the Krasnodar Krai)

General information.

The achievements and problems of the Armenians living in the southern regions of Russia for about 300 years are of great interest to a wide range of researchers. It is noteworthy that the Armenians not only relocated to new places, but also established settlements, created a favorable environment for economic development and cultural penetration. The Armenian community has reached such a level of integration and preservation of identity that allows it to preserve its national identity and, at the same time, to cooperate with the title-bearing people of host country as well as with other ethnic groups. Today, the largest Russian-Armenian community is located in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, where, according to unofficial data, up to 800 thousand Armenians live. The study will focus on interethnic relations, integration and adaptation in the Krasnodar Krai, and migration processes. The issue of interethnic relations is a completely new direction, the study of which can shed light on the whole history of the life of the Armenian community of Krasnodar, as well as on the existing problems in the inter-ethnic relations and the possibilities of effective activity.
