At 192.4 kilometres it's the longest race of the Tour of Britain, while the elevation gain does not exceed 1,000 metres. Saturday 7 September - The penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain travels from Northampton back to Northampton. The riders travels through West Northamptonshire on a route covering around 150 kilometres. It's a first for the men in Northampton, but the Tour of Britain for women started and finished in Northampton before.

Thursday 9 September - At 152.2 kilometres, the route of the 5th stage of the Tour of Britain moves through Cheshire for a possible sprint finish in Warrington. The riders set off from the biotech campus Alderley Park - to be precise, from outside the Glasshouse - to return to almost the same place after 110 kilometres of racing.
