Miss tourism ankole contestants unveiled.
The Miss Tourism regional search is on in different towns ahead of the grand finale that will take place in September. After a search was conducted in Teso and Bunyoro, the team headed to western Uganda and while there, seven tourism beauty queens have been selected for the finals that will take place on August 13th to pick who will represent the reason at the grand finale.
The seven contestants include Ritah Ampaire, Diana Daisy Amutuhire, Alice Kyasimire, Abigail Kirabo, Shallot Abigail Tuhirirwe, Sheilah Nagasha, and Claire Natukunda.
The winner from the Ankole search will represent Ankole in the grand finale that will take place at Kampala Serena Hotel. The Miss Tourism 2022/23 winner will become Uganda’s Tourism Ambassador and also represent Uganda in the different Tourism Pageants like Miss Tourism International, and Miss Tourism East Africa among others.
This year’s winner will take on the crown from Susan Kahunde who was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda in an event held at Serena Hotel in October last year. During the launch of this year’s Miss Tourism at Uganda Museum a few months ago, the organisers said that this year’s edition will run under the theme, Rethinking Tourism.

Ayebare Restytuta crowned Miss Tourism Ankole
In a dazzling event held at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara, Ayebare Restytuta emerged victorious as she was crowned Miss Tourism-Ankole on a chilly night.
The beauty pageant showcased the region’s finest talents, with Kulabako Sharidah and Ainomujuni Hopekins securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. As the newly crowned Miss Tourism-Ankole, Ayebare Restytuta, alongside her fellow contestants, will assume the role of tourism ambassador for the region.
With their sights set on the ultimate title of Miss Tourism 2023/2024, the winners will undergo intensive training at a boot camp later this year. The competition promises to be fierce as they represent Ankole and vie for the prestigious national crown.

The creative wear session during the event demonstrated the contestants’ dedication to showcasing the local culture. Come September 9, 2023, the crowned queens from different districts will gather at Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme “Greening Tourism” to represent their regions and compete for the prestigious national title. Notably, the franchise has expanded its regional selections to include Busia in Eastern Uganda, adding more excitement and diversity to the competition.

Miss Tourism Representatives for Ankole, Northern Uganda Announced
Restytuta Ayebare was crowned Miss Tourism Ankole at an event held on Saturday night at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara. She beat Sharidah Kulabako and Hopekins Ainomujuni who emerged first and second runner-up respectively.
Restytuta Ayebare and her colleagues will be the 2023 tourism ambassadors for the region. Organisers said they are now set for boot camp late this year as they prepare for the final prize and the title of Miss Tourism 2013/2024.
The creative wear session showed that the contestants took time to obtain local products like sisal, and bark cloth to make the pieces. Masiela Fashion House designed the dresses made mainly out of African fabric and the judges got a glimpse of the contestants’ evening wear look. The weekend also saw Northern Uganda crowning its Miss Tourism Queens 2023/24 representatives.
Pamela Acaa was crowned as the queen of the Miss Tourism Northern beauty pageant. Genevieve Okello and Juliet Angelo emerged as the first and second runners up respectively. The crowned Queens will represent their different districts come September 9 at Kampala Serena Hotel Under the theme “Greening Tourism”. Regional selections are still underway.

Ayebare restytuta: 22-year-old shares her vision for miss tourism ankole crown.
Ayebare believes Uganda and particularly the Ankole Region is very rich with a number of sightings/tourist attractions that are known to the locals, but often not recognised outside their communities.
As several regions in Uganda embark on a search for their Miss Tourism Beauty Queens, the Ankole Region is set to crown theirs in the Miss Tourism Ankole 2023 project, on a date yet to be confirmed for the finale.
Of the 12 contestants , is one Ayebare Restytuta, a 22-year-old student at Makerere University, and a born of Rubirizi district, particularly the Batsaba clan in Western Uganda.
Speaking to DailyExpress , Ayebare revealed that regarding this year’s theme which is centred around “Greening Tourism”, her primary focus will be on Engaging the youth in initiatives that create a beautifully conducive environment for both local and foreign tourists in Ankole, Uganda and Africa as a whole.
“I am thrilled to share my passion for greening tourism and cultural diversity ,” she said.
“I intend to create linkages with outside communities to grow the local tourism in my region,” Ayebare said.
The prospective Ankole beauty Queen says she looks up to the works of the Late Maria Mutagamba, the line minister who introduced tourism pageants in Uganda.
She adds that she’s itching to change livelihoods by tackling the potential of every earthed and unearthed treasure that lies hidden in the plain sight of the communities.
Ayebare is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Makerere University majoring in Human Resource Management.
She went to Rugazi Parents Primary School Rubirizi and St.Kagwa Boarding Primary School Bushenyi for her primary education before joining Maryhill High School Mbarara for both my O and A levels.

Miss Tourism Uganda Contestants Unveiled
Over the weekend at the Kampala Serena Hotel, 32 contestants of Miss Tourism 2023-2024 were unveiled .
Held under the theme Greening Tourism , the 32 came from various regions such as Buganda, Kigezi, Karamoja, Tooro, Teso, and Ankole.
On August 27, there will be an elimination round at Aara Fish Lounge in Adjumani, while the grand finale will occur on September 9 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The voting period will soon begin online. The contestant who garners the most votes will win a five-day vacation in Zanzibar, all expenses covered.
Sandra Nguna Ssesazi, the public relations representative of Miss Tourism Uganda, emphasised that the contestant with the highest online votes will also secure the title of Miss Tourism Popularity and will join the top five finalists.
On their criteria for selecting these pageants, Nguna said they made sure that each contestant is under 27 years old, unmarried, and without children. She said the contestant should also have an educational background of at least the S6 level.
The Miss Tourism crown winner will enjoy a trip to Dubai, while the first runner-up will have the pleasure of a trip to Zanzibar. Additionally, the winner will receive a land title.
Sydney Nabulya Kavuma is the reigning Miss Tourism Uganda 2022-2023.

Miss Tourism Uganda has today launched the 10th edition in the presence of the media and other practitioners. The event that was held at the Uganda museum marks the beginning of this year’s Miss Tourism. Ivan Lugya, the national coordinator of Miss Tourism Uganda, this year’s theme is Rethinking Tourism and it will focus on showcasing the achievements of Miss Tourism Uganda for the last 10 years. Lugya says that the pageant has helped other contestants to put up some initiatives for example the Rolex Festival that was an idea birthed by Enid Mirembe who was Miss Tourism Busoga, the little Miss Uganda birthed by Trisha Julian Kyomuhendo who was Miss Tourism Bunyoro.
The pageant has also grown over the years from 9 contestants to now more than 30 finalists. The search for this year’s Tourism queens is on and will be conducted in different regions and later a grand finale at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
During last year’s grand finale, Susan Kahunde from Tooro was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda and this year, she gives out her crown to the girls going to compete in this year’s pageant.
