  NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (August 26, 2022) – On the heels of their highly successful  22-city “Tomlin UNITED Tour” out earlier this year, the multi-platinum selling and multi-award-winning artists Chris Tomlin and UNITED are announcing the addition of a third leg coming this fall. The tour, named by Pollstar as a ‘Top 10 Worldwide Tour,’ will continue to welcome thousands of worshippers each night as one of the biggest Christian concert events continues with dates beginning November 3. Tickets for the “Tomlin UNITED Tour” will go on sale Thursday, September 1 at TomlinUNITED.com . Patrons can sign up now for the pre-sale at TomlinUNITED.com  

“Something powerful happens when we come together, all the streams of the church, to worship in Unity and One voice… it’s more than a concert, it’s an opportunity for us to join in the eternal praise,” shared Chris. “My prayer and belief for these nights with United is that everyone in the building, myself, the attendees, the musicians, the crew, each person working at the venue - everyone - is met by God right where they are in life and has an encounter that reminds us of the hope we all have in Him.”

The fall leg will visit a dozen major cities across the U.S. including St. Louis, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Charlotte and more. Music critics claimed the “Tomlin UNITED Tour” was ‘more than a concert- it was a worship experience for the performers and audience’ and ‘many were so overcome by the music they were brought to tears. The outpouring of emotion was awesome to witness.’

With a combined hope that this tour will help reunite the church, Tomlin and UNITED remained focused on launching the tour throughout an 18-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Premier Productions is the national tour promoter and World Vision will serve as the tour sponsor. 

On September 9, Chris will release his next full-length project, Always. The title track was released to Christian radio this spring and made its live debut on the “Tomlin UNITED Tour” earlier this year. The official live video for “Always” was filmed live from Chris’ annual “Good Friday Nashville” concert event and premiered exclusively with Facebook.

Hillsong UNITED Adds Six New Dates to Widely Popular “People Tour”

June 25   /  tuesday.

Hillsong UNITED is expanding their resonating “People Tour” with six new dates in September. Presented by Premier Productions, cities added include Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Louisville, Oklahoma City and Bossier City. Throughout its nearly 30 date trek across the U.S. and Canada, Hillsong UNITED has sold-out multiple stops including LA’s Staples Center, NYC’s Madison Square Garden and D.C.’s The Anthem.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be announcing new dates for the People Tour," shares Hillsong UNITED's JD. Hillsong united member says their music has ‘never been more true’ after a ‘most challenging year’.

Platinum-selling worship band Hillsong United recently released the expanded edition of their new record Are We There Yet in the midst of what Jonathan "JD" Douglass described as a prolonged and "challenging" season that has made their music truer than ever. 

Douglass has called Hillsong Church his home church since he was 4 years old. In a recent video interview with The Christian Post, he candidly shared how he's been doing in the aftermath of numerous scandals that have rocked the Hillsong global church network. 

"We definitely have been through quite a bit," Douglass told CP. "I do feel like so has the rest of the world, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that last year was one of the most challenging years for us. But the good thing is, I feel like we experienced God in such a new and fresh way and all the things that we write and sing about have never been more true, even for us.”

Hillsong has been involved in rumors, accusations and some of the church leaders have been accused of various misdeeds. Last year, Hillsong was the focus of documentaries that rehashed accusations and instances of misconduct perpetrated by former church leaders that came to light in recent years. 

"There was challenge and there was pain, but I can honestly say at the end of the day, when we got to the end of last year, that I feel like my faith and trust and experiencing God's goodness has never been better,” he testified. “I love the Word of God and I believe that as the psalmist writes in Psalm 119 , it is 'a lamp unto our feet and a light into our path.'” 

"I've experienced that throughout my life, but it's never been more true, for me personally, right now,” Douglass continued. “I just love the goodness and grace of God that is available for all of us. So the good news is that I'm grateful and experiencing that more than ever.”

Are We There Yet (Expanded Edition) was released earlier this year and the worshiper said the group's lyrics to God have never resonated more with him.

"We can, and rightly so, focus so much on figuring out, 'Are we there yet?' because the destination is ultimately the most important thing. And for us, that is the promise of Heaven and eternity with Jesus,” Douglass explained. “Yes, the destination is important, but God works through the journey so much and I think that if we're not careful, we can miss what God is wanting to do in the midst and the promise that God is with us as we're on the journey.” 

The album is filled with hope-filled songs and Hillsong United has remained focused on the hope of Jesus. However, Douglass added that he knows life is not promised to be easy.

"Again, the Word of God, spoiler alert, doesn't promise that we'll have a problem-free life,” he said. “Actually, the more you read throughout the Word you see that we are going to find challenges. But in all of those challenges, we are promised an answer. We are promised joy. If we look to God and His Word and His ways, then we can genuinely experience the goodness of God or at least have the hope that we will eventually, so that's what the album speaks to."

As of Feb. 5, Hillsong church is now under new leadership led by Phil and Lucinda Dooley, who were appointed the new global senior pastors of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. Brian Houston, who co-founded Hillsong in 1983, resigned as the global leader in March after it was revealed that two women had made allegations of misconduct against him in the last 10 years. His resignation also followed a series of misconduct allegations involving other Hillsong Church leaders in the U.S. and Australia.

Douglass told CP he was happy to have the Dooleys as his new leaders.

"Actually, my wife and I are campus pastors, we oversee one of our churches in downtown Sydney,” he said, describing the Dooleys as “incredible.” 

“They were our youth pastors; they were actually part of starting Hillsong United, like 20-plus years ago when we were in ministry. He was the one that was saying, 'He didn't say start a band. He [Phil] just would speak to the whole youth ministry about, ‘Why don't you use your best to build God's kingdom and serve the church?' Part of his leadership was a big part of why we started this. So yeah, he's a good man and we are excited about the future!” 

Hillsong United recently came off the Tomlin United Tour which was the first time the band has been on the road together since 2020.

"There are seasons we do have the mountain top and those Valley seasons. ... We have been in a valley season. We did get together just before we did this last tour, and we talked about like, 'There's lots going on. There's a lot of stuff out there that just straight up isn't true, but that's life.' And we were like, 'What should we want to do?'” he said.

Douglass said Hillsong United has "always had great unity," and they were all in agreement that they should go on the tour. United formed when they were all in high school and the core of the band is still a part of the worship group.

"We'd never stepped on the stage before we got together and basically go, like Moses, prayed this prayer where he literally said, 'If you don't go before us, I'm not going.' That's always been our heart,” Douglass added. 

"The reality of these songs and worship aren't reserved for people who have it all together or when you're on the mountaintop. I actually believe these songs are most effective when people are in the darkest days or in the lowest valleys,” Douglass said of United’s new music. “These songs aren't just cool melodies and good ideas. They are all based on the Word of God.”

A 48 Hour Guide to Astrakhan, Russia

Travellers who venture into Astrakhan will enjoy the historical charm and cultural vibrancy of this old Silk Route town. The otherworldly Lake Baskunchak and extensive Delta wetlands are just a day trip away.

Astrakhan lies close to the Kazakhstan border where the Volga River flows into the Caspian Sea. It used to be a town on the old Silk Route and is built on more than 10 islands. Meander along canals and over bridges to soak up ancient Tatar, Christian and Islamic history. Venture into the surrounding countryside to enjoy the splendour of the Volga Delta wetlands and the region’s natural beauty.

Day one – Acquaint yourself with the city

Morning – Explore local history

Start the day by taking a walk through the Kryusha Quarter. It’s the city’s former Tatar and Persian area, and it remains a predominantly Muslim area. As such, there are clusters of mosques in various states of neglect and repair.

Starting at Ulitsa Kirova, walk along Kazanskaya Ulitsa until you reach a Lenin bust. If you cross over the canal, you’ll come across a well-kept park, complete with sculptures and a lake. Continue past it, and you’ll end up at the foot of the hill where the city’s Kremlin sits on top. Once you’re finished at the Kremlin, cut through the Fraternal Gardens to the city’s hipster hangout, Rozmarin Cafe , and fill up on freshly cooked meals and refuel with strong coffee. Once revived, take a peek at the Museum of Military Glory, which is as patriotic as the name suggests. However, despite the museum’s nationalistic slant, it is a good place to learn about historical battles.

From Moloko , it’s another lazy stroll along the banks of the Kutum River to the banks of the Volga – the manicured riverfront is the city’s crowning glory. There are people to watch, sculptures to see, and sunsets to enjoy.

After all of that walking about, treat yourself to a delicious meal. Right on the waterfront, Yamato is an indulgent, top-notch Japanese restaurant. The menu offers Japanese dishes, sushi, pan-Asian and Asian-fusion meals, as well as a lot of classic European and Russian cuisine. And it’s not just the food that is good here – so is the decor, inspired by Japanese minimalism and traditional aesthetics.

Night – Embrace the local culture

For those who want to sample some high-brow culture, why not check out what ballet is showing? The Astrakhan State Theatre of Opera and Ballet may not have the same clout as other regional theatres, but like most ballet and opera in Russia, they are still done to an outstanding standard.

For those who want to kick on, take the short stroll over to Kul’tovyy Bar (Cult Bar) for dim lighting, live music and boozy drinks. It also serves reasonably priced food. After loading up on positive vibes, belt out a few tunes with new friends at any of the many karaoke bars in town, such as Chicago House.

Whatever time the night ends, rest your well-worn legs at the luxurious Novomoskovskaya Hotel , a 10-minute walk away from Kul’tovyy Bar. Sleeping options are limited in Astrakhan, but they are also affordable, which means this five-star hotel comes with a bargain price tag. It’s also right in the heart of the city, so the Kremlin and the central sights are all within walking distance.

Day two – Soak up the Astrakhan region’s beauty

Morning – Venture out to the great outdoors

Although the city still has plenty to offer, a trip to the surrounding countryside is a must. Around Astrakhan , the Volga River splinters off into thousands of streams and rivers, known as the Volga Delta Wetlands. The wetlands, filled with birds and animals, are lush and an adventure to explore.

Roads eventually peter out and make way for rivers and marshes. The further you explore the wetlands, the more likely you’ll need a boat. A trip into the wetlands is a day trip in itself, so don’t plan to cram too many countryside sights into your itinerary.

Despite, or because of, its otherworldly appearance and its far-flung locale, it remains a popular tourist destination, albeit an unusual one.

A top restaurant in town, Mindal serves up hearty central Asian and Caucasian dishes in a casual, yet stylish setting – a perfect treat to end a long day spent on the road and in the great outdoors.

Night – Relax with a beer

Mindal has a licensed bar that also serves up hookahs, so if you are suffering from a post-pigout food coma, and are exhausted from the day, hang around and enjoy yourself for a little bit longer. But if you want a change of scenery, visit Akademiya Piva, (Beer Academy). This restaurant and brewery is not only a stumble away from the hotel, but it is an opportunity to try a local brew or two. Of their five house-made beers, one is brewed in the style of the iconic Soviet beer, Zhigulevskoye.

Pro tip: If you want to relax after dinner at Mindal, book a booth table and make yourself comfortable. Also, for those on a budget, Akademiya Piva serves pub grub at a reasonable price.
