2022 DP World Tour (European Tour) schedule: Tournaments, dates, purses and venues
The 2022 DP World Tour (European Tour) schedule has been announced, with a significant overhaul to the 48-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.
The most significant changes to the schedule are related to the strategic alliance between DP World Tour and the European Tour that was announced in November 2021, changing the name of the tour and raising the minimum value of purses to $2 million.
European Tour co-sanctioned, purse-boosted events
The two tours are co-sanctioning three events on their schedules, including the European Tour's Scottish Open, which has a new sponsor in Genesis, as well the Barbasol Championship and Barracuda Championship on the DP World Tour (European Tour). The fields in all three events will feature a split of player availability between DP World Tour (European Tour) and European Tour pros, including spots for 50 European Tour players in the Barbasol and Barracuda Championships, which will be played opposite the Scottish Open and Irish Open.
The Genesis Scottish Open will remain part of the European Tour's Rolex Series. The Irish Open, which will not be co-sanctioned in 2022, will have a purse boosted by the DP World Tour (European Tour) to $6 million -- nearly double the amount offered this year.
There are a variety of new events on the schedule this year, including the Ras al Khaimah Championship in the UAE, the Pecanwood Classic and Steyn City Championship in South Africa, the Soudal Open in Belgium, two new events in Asia (including one in Japan) and the return of the Cyprus Open.
World Golf Championships halved
Since 2009, there have been four World Golf Championships events on the schedule. However, there are just two on the 2022 schedule: the WGC-HSBC Champions in China from Oct. 28-31 and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Texas from March 23-27.
With the Memphis-based event becoming a playoff event, the other change is the WGC-Mexico Championship dropping out of the series. A Mexico Championship is listed on the schedule as a full-field event.

Rory McIlroy moved into the early lead at the DP World Tour Championship, while Collin Morikawa made a strong start to his bid for Race to Dubai victory.

McIlroy mixed eight birdies with a lone bogey on his way to an opening-round 65 at Jumeriah Golf Estates, lifting him to seven under and two ahead of Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Tapio Pulkkanen and last week's AVIV Dubai Championship winner Joachim B Hansen.
Even a victory wouldn't be enough for McIlroy, 20th in the standings, to win the Race to Dubai for a fourth time, while Morikawa - starting the week with a 236-point advantage - bolstered his hopes of becoming the first American to top the rankings after a four-under 68.
Tyrrell Hatton, defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick and Paul Casey - among the six players who can still win the Race to Dubai - all sit in the group on two under, while Billy Horschel, Morikawa's closest rival, struggled to a two-over 74 to leave him tied-45th in the 53-man field.
Playing alongside Dean Burmester, McIlroy followed a 20-foot birdie at the first by producing an impressive approach into the par-five second and rolling in a 12-footer for eagle.

The Northern Irishman fired his approach at the fifth to tap-in range and made a two-putt birdie at the par-five seventh, before holing from 15 feet at the next to go six under after just eight holes.
McIlroy responded to a bogey at the ninth by converting from five feet at the next, with the four-time major winner scrambling for a couple of par-saves on his back nine before then signing off his round by taking advantage of the par-five last.

Morikawa threatened McIlroy's clubhouse target after three birdies in a five-hole stretch on the back nine took him to within two of the lead, only for him to post a three-putt bogey at the par-three 17th and then fail to bounce back on the final hole.
The world No 2 is joined in a strong contingent three behind by Sergio Garcia, playing on a special exemption, while Robert MacIntyre, Marcus Armitage and former world No 1 Martin Kaymer are among the other players on four under.
Fitzpatrick - who can still snatch Race to Dubai victory with a win this week - was within four of the lead until a final-hole bogey, with Tommy Fleetwood and American Will Zalatoris also opening with a two-under 70.
Min Woo Lee, fifth in the standings, joined Patrick Reed in carding a level-par 72, while Ian Poulter and British Masters champion Richard Bland are eight off the lead in a share of 40th place.

In what is a major rebrand, the European Tour is set to become the DP World Tour when the 2022 season kicks off.
Ahead of what will be the 50th anniversary of Europe's premier circuit, it was announced that DP World had agreed a deal for the tour's naming rights, with a major cash injection to take prize money past the $200 million mark for the first time.
As part of the agreement, there will also be a minimum prize fund of $2m per tournament, sanctioned solely by the DP World Tour.
The aptly named circuit will travel to 27 countries and feature new events in Belgium, Japan, South Africa and the UAE. Of the 47 tournaments, 23 will be held in Europe, with the remaining 24 classified as worldwide events.
Five tournaments will make up the lucrative Rolex Series - the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, the Genesis Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship, and the DP World Tour Championship - with each boasting a purse of $8m.

European Tour to become the DP World Tour from 2022
- Ground-breaking partnership signals a new era in the Tour’s history
- Significant commitment will elevate the Tour ‘in every way’, including new minimum $2million prize fund for each tournament
- The partnership will help grow global golf and drive positive community impact
The European Tour group and DP World today jointly announced a ground-breaking evolution to their long-term partnership, with DP World becoming the new title sponsor of the group’s main tour from the start of the 2022 season.
The agreement heralds a new era in the history of the European Tour group, which, along with DP World, will celebrate its 50 th anniversary in 2022, the first season of the newly named DP World Tour.
Today’s announcement represents a significant deal in terms of global sports partnerships, with DP World’s substantial commitment dedicated to three key areas: elevating the Tour in every way , growing the game of golf globally , and driving positive community impact .
The new look DP World Tour will see total prize money break through the $200 million mark for the first time, with a new minimum prize fund of $2 million for all tournaments solely sanctioned by the DP World Tour.
In 2022, the DP World Tour will represent a truly global tour through an international schedule, that will feature a minimum of 47 tournaments in 27 different countries, including new tournaments in the UAE, Japan, South Africa and Belgium and an expanded Rolex Series comprising five events: the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, the Genesis Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
For the first time, it will also feature three tournaments co-sanctioned with the PGA TOUR - the aforementioned Genesis Scottish Open, as well as the Barbasol Championship and the Barracuda Championship taking place in the United States – as a result of the Strategic Alliance between male professional golf’s two leading Tours.
The European Tour and DP World were both established in 1972 and have since developed into global enterprises with DP World, which is headquartered in Dubai, evolving into the leading provider of global smart end-to-end supply chain and logistics solutions.
DP World’s association with the European Tour spans more than a decade, first becoming a p resenting partner of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai finale at Jumeirah Golf Estates in its inaugural year in 2009, before the Rolex Series event was renamed the DP World Tour Championship in 2012. It was in this year that DP World became the tournament’s title partner.
DP World then became an Official Partner of the European Tour in 2015, and they will now become the Official Title Partner of the Tour from the start of the 2022 season, which begins with the Joburg Open in South Africa, from November 22-25.
Keith Pelley, Chief Executive of the European Tour group, said : “Today’s announcement is undoubtedly a momentous one in the proud history of our Tour. The launch of the DP World Tour in 2022, coinciding with both of our 50th anniversaries, will herald a new era in global golf, and crucially it will benefit everybody involved – all our players, caddies, fans and partners – as well as making an important contribution to wider society.
“The entire ecosystem of our Tour will be strengthened because of this hugely significant deal, and that was essential to us and to DP World, who have been an incredible supporter of our Tour as well as golf more widely, from grassroots through to the elite professional game.
“The DP World Tour is, therefore, a natural evolution of our decade-long partnership, and the presence of ‘World’ in our new title better reflects our global reach.” Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said: “DP World has been a partner of the European Tour for over a decade. Our long-standing partnership has provided an excellent platform to engage with customers, prospects, and stakeholders, and build our brand. We have relished the opportunity to support the Tour in growing the game of golf and improving access to the sport at all levels. The key to this success has been and will continue to be the shared vision and values that underpin the partnership. “We both have a global mindset, are committed to inclusivity, and invest in new technologies to stay competitive – attributes which today become the fundamental principles of the DP World Tour. As the leading provider of smart logistics solutions worldwide, we will use our people, assets, and connectivity to help grow the Tour further and change what’s possible in golf.” Jay Monahan, Commissioner of the PGA TOUR and Board Member of the European Tour, added ; “Thanks to the support of long-standing partner DP World, today’s announcement significantly elevates the European Tour on a global basis. We are excited for the continued growth and evolution of the European Tour, as well as the momentum this provides toward our Strategic Alliance. I’ve said before that our respective Tours are positioned to grow – together – over the next 10 years faster than we ever have at any point in our existence, and today’s announcement is another point of proof in those efforts.”
DP World’s Tour title partnership will help enhance the following key areas:
ELEVATE THE TOUR IN EVERY WAY
- Biggest prize fund in European Tour history: Overall prize funds in 2022 will be more than US$140 million for all tournaments outside the Majors and World Golf Championships, outstripping the previous all-time pre-pandemic high of US$130 million in 2019. Including the Majors and WGCs, the total prize fund on the 2022 DP World Tour will exceed US$200 million, benefitting all tournaments and all members across all categories .
- New US$2 million minimum tournament prize fund: For the first time, every tournament solely sanctioned by the DP World Tour will have a minimum prize fund of at least US$2 million, ensuring that all members benefit from this boosted investment.
- A record US$10 million prize fund for the 2022 DP World Tour Championship : This will make the season finale – the final Rolex Series tournament of 2022 – the first European Tour event in history outside the Majors and WGCs to feature an eight-figure prize fund.
- A full and comprehensive 12 month schedule: The DP World Tour’s International Schedule for 2022 was also unveiled today and can be accessed by clicking here . It features a minimum of 47 tournaments across 27 different countries from November 2021 to November 2022.
HELP TO GROW THE GAME GLOBALL Y
- A significant investment in the Challenge Tour: To elevate prize funds and increase playing opportunities, as well as improving the overall infrastructure of events.
- Establish the annual John Jacobs Bursary Award: Supporting the top five players on the Challenge Tour Rankings at the end of the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A with their travel and expenses the following year on the DP World Tour.
- A commitment to grassroots golf: Promoting golf at all levels in the countries we play in, including the UAE, where the DP World Tour will work closely with the current grassroots programme.
DRIVE POSITIVE COMMUNITY IMPACT
- Expansion of the Tour’s ‘Golf for Good’ overarching CSR initiative : Focused on supporting good causes and the communities where the Tour plays; sustainability; diversity, inclusion and health benefits of golf.
- Support of Charitable Initiatives and Disability Golf: Such as UNICEF’s COVAX Programme and EDGA European Tour.
- Continued collaboration with the women’s game: including support of mixed events such as the ISPS Handa World Invitational and Scandinavian Mixed.

Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy pose with their trophies after the end of the DP World Tour Championship. Rahm claimed the tournament title while McIlroy won the season-long points race.

To say Jon Rahm loves playing the DP World Tour Championship on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates would be the understatement of understatements. The 28-year-old Spaniard had two wins and a T-4 showing in his three previous starts in the Old World circuit’s season finale, posting a scoring average of 67.66.
It was more of the same this week, as Rahm followed up an opening-round 70 with a 66-65-67 finish to take the tournament title for a third time, outpacing Tyrrell Hatton and Alex Noren by two shots. In the process, he lowered that career scoring average to 67.5.
It was Rahm’s ninth career DP World Tour victory and fifth win in the tour’s elevated Rolex Series events. With the triumph, Rahm claimed the $3 million first-place prize money payout (€2,891,271) from the overall purse of $10 million. He also saw his career earnings on the DP World Tour rise to €21,834,859.52, the 19th player in tour history to break the €20 million mark.
There was another winner on Sunday as well as Rory McIlroy, while finishing four strokes back of Rahm in solo fourth place, earned the DP World Tour’s Harry Vardon Trophy as the season-long points title winner . It’s the third time McIlroy has won the honor, but the first in a season in which he also won the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup title.

European Tour rebranding to DP World Tour, doubling prize money starting in 2022
- Associated Press
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- After 50 years, the European Tour by name is no more.
Starting in 2022, it will be rebranded as the DP World Tour in a deal that is set to double the total prize money to more than $200 million.
European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley said the title change better reflects the global nature of the tour.
On the 2022 schedule, only 23 of the 47 events will be staged on European soil.
"In many ways, it's a misnomer," Pelley said of the European Tour's current title. "We are definitely a world tour."
"We will always remember our heritage," Pelley added, "and those who have gone before us who helped us shape our tour ... but we also rejoice in our global footprint."
Pelley said there will be a minimum prize fund of $2 million for each tournament and prize money of "north of $200 million" for the season, compared to $104 million in 2021 and $70 million in 2020.
The deal is a huge boost to the finances of the European Tour that were badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic, causing a shutdown of the tour for three months beginning in March 2020.
The European Tour nearly a year ago announced a strategic alliance with the PGA Tour after one of the proposed new leagues had offered to take over Europe. The Scottish Open is now part of the PGA Tour, while European members have access to two U.S. tour events. More collaboration is possible in the fall months.
Meanwhile, Greg Norman is leading a new company called LIV Golf Investments, backed by Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, which is putting $200 million into 10 new tournaments on the Asian Tour. Those events and where they are played have not been announced.
The new tournaments do not include the Saudi International, which is no longer part of the European Tour schedule after three years ago and since signed a deal with the Asian Tour.
In a video message, four-time major champion Rory McIlroy said the deal was "great news for global golf."
Tommy Fleetwood, who was the Race to Dubai champion in 2017, said it provided "stability" and "excitement" to golfers on the tour.
DP World, a Dubai-based logistics company, has sponsored the season-ending event on the European Tour, which has been held in Dubai since 2009 and called "The Race to Dubai." It was previously the "Order of Merit."
The European Tour was founded in 1972, but events have been increasingly held outside the continent in recent years, with many of the biggest now staged in the Middle East.

DP World Tour Championship reveal jam-packed entertainment schedule
Golf in uae, golf in uae uae.
The fun activations include free golf lessons, kids’ activities and live music
Spectators attending this year’s DP World Tour Championship, Dubai at Jumeirah Golf Estates, can look forward to some fantastic entertainment away from the golf action with fun activations for all ages, including free golf lessons, kids’ activities and live music.
General admission is free on November 14-15, and fans in attendance will be treated to live music performances on both days courtesy of Aston Wylie (Thursday) and Big Mouth (Friday), setting the tone for what will follow over the course of the weekend.
Now in its 16th year, the season-ending DP World Tour Championship is a highlight of the Middle East’s sporting calendar. With the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood already confirmed for the final Roles Series event of the season, the on-course golf competition is shaping up to be as exciting as ever, while the event now forms part of the inaugural DP World Tour Play-Offs, alongside the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, which takes place at Yas Links one week earlier.
For those fans who fancy a break from watching some of the world’s best golfers battle it out for glory, there is plenty to keep you occupied, starting with Ladies Day on Saturday November 16, with general admission tickets available for AED 125, and free fast-track entry for children aged 17 and under, who must pre-register in advance
After collecting a wristband on arrival (prior to 3pm), ladies can redeem two free drinks from 11am onwards at the Zonin Bar in The Championship Village (subject to availability).
Golf Clinics will take place from 12noon on the driving range, giving participants the opportunity to perfect their swing alongside some of the professionals taking part in the tournament.
Ladies Day attendees can also sit back and relax at one of the on-site pamper stations or watch a hugely entertaining show by the Trick Shot Boys, while those who want to stand out from the crowd will have the opportunity to take advantage of a glitter face painting service.
The end of the golf doesn’t mean the end of the day, as the Red Light Party Band will take to the stage (following the last putt around 5.30pm) to ensure the festivities continue, bringing the day’s proceedings to a close in thrilling fashion.
Sunday November 17 is Family Day, with free fast-track entry for children aged 17 and under, although pre-registration is required.
There is another packed schedule of entertainment, with plenty for the little ones to enjoy at the Kids Zone (open from 11am – 5pm) including face painting, balloon bending, arts and crafts, magic shows and princess workshops.
As an added bonus, House of Pops will be giving away a free plant-based fruit pop in the Championship Village to the first 200 children onsite, available from 9am.
Once again, there will be free golf lessons for people of all abilities on the driving range, while the Trick Shot Boys will return to showcase their repertoire of dazzling skills.
Once play finishes, live music will be provided by the fantastic Greg Pearson, who will bring the curtain down on the 2024 DP World Tour Championship in style.

Why haven’t the Internationals won more? Adam Scott blames himself

Adam Scott looks on during his Sunday singles match at the 2022 Presidents Cup.
Getty Images
It’s January 15th and Adam Scott and I are on the back of the driving range at Emirates Golf Club, in Dubai. It’s the Monday of the Dubai Desert Classic, which is the start of Scott’s season. He just posed for a bunch of photos for the March issue of GOLF Magazine and has been cooly strolling from one topic to the next.
LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann drops by our seats to say hello and playfully ask Adam why he’s still talking to this journalist. Joaco isn’t necessarily wrong. Scott and I have been yapping for 45 minutes now, and it’s nearly lunch o’clock. Only we’ve got one more pressing topic to discuss: the upcoming Presidents Cup.
It may have been eight months away at the time, but the topic of major team golf competitions is ripe for conjecture at any point in the year. In part because it has been more than two decades since the Internationals won this team competition against the United States, but also because Scott witnessed the Ryder Cup in Rome . It was just three-months fresh at that point, and due to the result — a dominant victory by Team Europe — it was still being litigated in headlines, press conferences, even the Full Swing documentary . On the driving range in Dubai, where the only American Ryder Cupper in the field was Brian Harman, the referendum on Team USA was still alive.
“One of these years,” I told Scott, then a 10-time International team member, “you guys are going to knock off that American team and it is going to freak people out.”
He agreed. Whether it was with the notion of an impending International victory or that it would send shockwaves through their opponents, Scott had clearly given it plenty of thought. And his gut instinct was to blame himself.
“Look, I think I need to be quite critical on myself,” Scott said that day. “I think it’s coming. I think the team the last two Cups has moved in a fantastic direction. I have to be a leader by winning four and a half points. Not [going] 2-2. That ain’t getting it done.”
Unfortunately for him, he’s right. Scott will tee it up this week at his 11th (consecutive!) Presidents Cup, making him by far the most experienced pro in the field. Now 44 years old, the last time the Internationals took anything but a loss in this event, he was a 23-year-old rookie playing alongside peak-of-his-powers Ernie Els.
2024 Presidents Cup: How to watch, TV schedule, streaming, format, team rosters
Scott went 3-2 that week, in a team tie. Two years later he starred again, going 3-1-1, undefeated until a singles match against Jim Furyk. But ever since, he’s failed to win more matches than he’s lost, playing in 49 of 50 sessions in his career. There isn’t a golfer on the planet who has played (and continues to play) more for his side than Scott for the Internationals, but we’re still on the back of that driving range addressing one of the ultimate truisms of team sports: it doesn’t matter how well you play as an individual unless the team wins. So Scott continues gazing into the mirror.
“I think we’ve got a great chance,” Scott continued. “I know we’re not as — maybe quite — put together as the European team, but the American team took a few licks there in Rome. It will be interesting to see their dynamic. They generally come very, very confident to the Presidents Cups because they win them all. But we’ve got a chance if we can put it together. For me, I just need to win. I need a Presidents Cup where I win every match.”
By that he means play like Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy have played in recent Ryder Cups, a view he got up close in 2023 when he attended the event for the first time in Rome. Lead in experience, lead by example and lead by winning matches. That’s a lot to ask of a golfer in his 25th year as a pro. But he’s the one doing the asking.
What’s most interesting about those statements from eight months ago is that Scott was oddly confident. He was 43 years old and feeling refreshed. Not in the typical way every pro golfer is when the calendars turn over in January. But in an I’ve only got so many more first days of school left kind of way. He had just enjoyed a lovely holiday break and was rejuvenated for 2024. He was 37th in the world, and according to DataGolf he was 47th. Covid had taken a bigger hit on his game — he won one of the last Tour events prior to the pandemic shutdown — than mostly anyone else. But something clicked with his equipment and speed pursuits in 2023 and surely, 2024 was going to deliver something fruitful. I asked him, if 2024 is eventually deemed a successful one in Adam Scott’s golfing career, what does it look like?
“I’d really like to win a couple tournaments,” he said that day. For someone who hasn’t won in four years, that felt like a lot.
“It’s really the only thing I’d really want to do,” he continued, admitting that it’s gotten a bit annoying that his kids are now old enough to question why dad is so good but doesn’t bring home the trophy anymore.
What followed that admission was as close as you can get to fulfillment without actually checking those boxes. Scott was the comfiest leader in the clubhouse at the Scottish Open in July, only to be pipped by Bob MacIntyre’s eagle-par-birdie heroics, to the tune of the a crowd singing the Scottish national anthem. A month later he was tied for the lead turning to the back nine at the BMW Championship, only to lose by one to Keegan Bradley.
Two different flips of two different coins and Scott could have bagged multiple tournaments. Instead, he will have no choice but to try and bag multiple Presidents Cup matches. Maybe every match. Whether or not we keep track doesn’t matter. We know he’ll be keeping track himself, because 2-2 ain’t getting it done.
