An absolutely amazing group and one I've followed for years. I was and American in Manchester courting my "wife to be" way back in 1989 when I stopped in a small record shop to ask the owner if they were playing anywhere; his response: "Sorry, mate, they've just broekn up". Fortunatly, I was able to hear Mark and his "Chameoleon Vox" in Los Angeles a few years ago. So I am so pleased and excited that they are still touring - and definitely going to see them at at least one of their U.S. tours -either Mesa, Arizona or San Diego, CA. Stand Fast, boys - we love you!

The Chameleons were EPIC First gig of 2020 for them and I stood right at the front so I could see everything! It was pure Gold and had a profound impact within me as I thought it would Venue is my favourite ever and The Chameleons are getting all the love and respect they deserve! Great band, brilliant night. Perfect antidote to the post-election blues. Most audience clamour for an encore that I've heard at any gig this year. Lots of happy people left at the end with a smile on their face!

The Chameleons to Release New Live Album Ahead of North American Tour with The Mission and Theatre of Hate
- February 27, 2022
- post-punk.com
Metropolis Records has added legendary post-punk outfit The Chameleons to their roster. Along with the announcement of the signing also comes the news that the label will be releasing a new live album from the band, recorded during sessions last spring.
The new album , “Edge Sessions (Live From The Edge)”, is a collection of seven classic Chameleons songs performed live in May of 2021 by founding members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies, and recent members Chris Oliver on guitar, and Stephen Rice on drums.
The record also includes three additional bonus tracks of ChameleonsVox era live recordings to round out the LP.
Following the release, The Chameleons will be joining both The Mission and Theatre of Hate on a tour of the United States and Canada throughout September and October of this year.
The vastly influential post-punk act The Chameleons (UK) was formed in Manchester, England in 1981, with the original lineup of vocalist/bassist Mark Burgess, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever (who quickly replaced founding member Brian Schofield).
The band went on to release three classic albums: “Script of the Bridge” (1983), “What Does Anything Mean? Basically” (1985), and “Strange Times” (1986) before breaking up.
“Edge Sessions (Live From The Edge)” will be released on CD, limited edition vinyl as well as through all streaming and digital platforms on April 15, 2022, by Metropolis Records.

Chameleons original members Mark Burgess and Reg Smithies will reunite for the first time in many moons. The Manchester post-punk legends have an endearing and untarnished legacy having released many classic albums that warm the dark hearts of fans globally. Their debut album, Script of the Bridge , set the tone and remains an essential album to this day.
Theatre of Hate will be returning to North America after successful tours in previous years. Led by singer/songwriter, Kirk Brandon, Theatre of Hate released their iconic debut studio album, Westworld , which was produced by Mick Jones of The Clash and entered the Top 20 charts in the UK.
