Une capacité d'accueil de 300 places, un bar à Champagne, une verrière classée de 1896... Située Place Jean Jaurès à Tours, la Brasserie de L'Univers est un acteur historique et emblématique de l'économie et des sorties Tourangelles. C'est aussi, grâce à son directeur, un acteur solidaire.

C'était il y a environ un mois. David Yarric, le directeur de la Brasserie de l'Univers est contacté par les responsables d'une association et fait un choix solidaire pour ses ventes de repas en livraison : il accepte de devenir partenaire de l'association Sourire d'enfant . Cette association, créée en 2012, aide les enfants hospitalisés, malades ou handicapés, en finançant par exemple du matériel, des médicaments ou des aménagements et en aidant les associations de malades.  

La brasserie investit dans des emballages un peu particuliers

"Sourire d'enfant" propose aux professionnels d'acheter des emballages, sacs en kraft, sacs réutilisables ou encore sacs poubelle. C'est à dire qu' au lieu d'acheter des sacs neutres pour y glisser vos achats, les commerçants peuvent s'équiper d'une version "sourire d'enfant" et ainsi financer l'association et ses actions. Il existe des emballages adaptés à différents commerces comme les boulangeries, pâtisseries, les pharmacies, épiceries mais aussi la vente de repas à emporter. Lorsqu'il a été contacté par l'association il y a un mois, David Yarric a dit "OK" sans hésiter. A ce jour, la brasserie de l'Univers a d'ailleurs déjà écoulé entre 300 et 400 sacs en papier recyclables.  

Le chiffre peut sembler énorme mais c'est tout simplement parce que ces sacs servent à emballer vos commandes lorsque vous décidez de déguster les plats de la Brasserie à la maison ou au travail. En effet, la brasserie travaille avec une plateforme de livraisons de repas . Et avec la crise sanitaire, les livraisons (et donc l'utilisation de sacs en papier) sont en plein boum. Saluons donc la démarche de David Yarric, parce que, quitte à utiliser des emballages jetables, autant les choisir recyclables et solidaires. D'ailleurs, lorsqu'on lui a demandé pendant combien de temps il comptait distribuer ces sacs "sourire d'enfant", le directeur de l'Univers nous a répondu "ah mais dès que je dois repasser commande de sac, je les recontacte".  Emballés, donc, la Brasserie de l'Univers et son directeur.

Had lunch here..fish and chips and the classic burger. The fish had a very thick crust and caused the fish to be overcooked. The burger and chips were good. A bit on the expensive side for a lunch at 30€ per person, including a couple... of glasses of rosè and a bottle of water...but nice ambiance inside! More

Fast service and really good food. The salads were amazing and the steaks were also really good. We ate one l’italienne salad, one le sainte-maure salad and three steak à cheval, and everything was super tasty and fresh. Definitely recommend!! More

Wonderful brasserie at the center of Tours at Place Jean Jaures. It is especially beautiful to sit oiutside where you have a great view of the Hotel de Ville (Townhall) and the courts. We were there for aperitifs (Kir Royale) and for escargots. This restaurant has fantastic food and excellent service, when we arrived at the restaurant we asked if it was dog friendly, the waiter advised of course. We stopped at this restaurant/bar when exploring Tours as we wanted to relax and have a couple of drinks. We waited near the outside seating area briefly, and eventually found ourselves a table to sit down as no waiting staff had invited us to a... table. After about 10 minutes of waiting the waitress managed to notice us and came over and asked what we’d like - we requested the drinks menu and the waitress was apologetic that she had not yet brought these to us/acknowledged our presence! After another 10 minute wait, no-one had come back to take our drinks order, so we decided to leave. We found another bar further down the street and managed to order and have our drinks served within 3 minutes of sitting down. More

Well located opposite town hall, busy and casual. Good for a drink and good pub food. Nice atmosphere staff helpful.

There are lots of really good restaurants in Tours and therefore no reason to ever choose this one, other than stupidity ( but now I've done that for you!) The evidence from our visit (two adults, one child) was of dreadful and sporadic service (meals... all arriving at different times) tasteless and over-cooked food and dreadful, grudging service. Should you be daft enough to risk it you also need to check the bill, as ours included food we hadn't ordered. More

Had lunch here..fish and chips and the classic burger. The fish had a very thick crust and caused the fish to be overcooked. The burger and chips were good. A bit on the expensive side for a lunch at 30€ per person, including a couple... of glasses of rosè and a bottle of water...but nice ambiance inside! More

Wonderful brasserie at the center of Tours at Place Jean Jaures. It is especially beautiful to sit oiutside where you have a great view of the Hotel de Ville (Townhall) and the courts. We were there for aperitifs (Kir Royale) and for escargots. Though it... was cold sitting outside, the beautiful illumination of the Townhall and the Christmas trees at the square made it a charming place to rest after walking around the city and waiting to take the tram home. This restaurant has fantastic food and excellent service, when we arrived at the restaurant we asked if it was dog friendly, the waiter advised of course. We were taken to our table and the waiter provided water for the dog immediately, we ordered food which... was excellent. It is nice change to be able to eat at a quality restaurant with our dog . I got the fish and chips with tarter sauce. The fish and the sauce had very little flavor. I put mustard and ketchup on the second piece to make it interesting. My chips (fries) were cold and hard. We stopped at this restaurant/bar when exploring Tours as we wanted to relax and have a couple of drinks. We waited near the outside seating area briefly, and eventually found ourselves a table to sit down as no waiting staff had invited us to a... table. After about 10 minutes of waiting the waitress managed to notice us and came over and asked what we’d like - we requested the drinks menu and the waitress was apologetic that she had not yet brought these to us/acknowledged our presence! After another 10 minute wait, no-one had come back to take our drinks order, so we decided to leave. We found another bar further down the street and managed to order and have our drinks served within 3 minutes of sitting down. More

Well located opposite town hall, busy and casual. Good for a drink and good pub food. Nice atmosphere staff helpful.

There are lots of really good restaurants in Tours and therefore no reason to ever choose this one, other than stupidity ( but now I've done that for you!) The evidence from our visit (two adults, one child) was of dreadful and sporadic service (meals... all arriving at different times) tasteless and over-cooked food and dreadful, grudging service. Should you be daft enough to risk it you also need to check the bill, as ours included food we hadn't ordered. More

Wonderful brasserie at the center of Tours at Place Jean Jaures. It is especially beautiful to sit oiutside where you have a great view of the Hotel de Ville (Townhall) and the courts. We were there for aperitifs (Kir Royale) and for escargots. We stopped at this restaurant/bar when exploring Tours as we wanted to relax and have a couple of drinks. We waited near the outside seating area briefly, and eventually found ourselves a table to sit down as no waiting staff had invited us to a... table. After about 10 minutes of waiting the waitress managed to notice us and came over and asked what we’d like - we requested the drinks menu and the waitress was apologetic that she had not yet brought these to us/acknowledged our presence! After another 10 minute wait, no-one had come back to take our drinks order, so we decided to leave. We found another bar further down the street and managed to order and have our drinks served within 3 minutes of sitting down. More

Well located opposite town hall, busy and casual. Good for a drink and good pub food. Nice atmosphere staff helpful.

There are lots of really good restaurants in Tours and therefore no reason to ever choose this one, other than stupidity ( but now I've done that for you!) The evidence from our visit (two adults, one child) was of dreadful and sporadic service (meals... all arriving at different times) tasteless and over-cooked food and dreadful, grudging service. Should you be daft enough to risk it you also need to check the bill, as ours included food we hadn't ordered. More
