The Legendary Warped Tour Is Preparing To Return In 2025, Its Founder Confirms
For years, Warped Tour was an iconic event in punk and alternative rock music. It first launched in 1995, but the touring event ended its run in 2018, hosting a three-date stint in 2019 before going dormant. Fans still yearning for that era, though, finally have some good news: Warped Tour is coming back.
According to Pollstar , Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman confirmed reports of the event returning in 2025 for its 30th anniversary. He said, “We have something cooking for 2025. Details should be ready in a few weeks.”
In 2018, Lyman told Billboard , “I’ve done everything I can in the format that this is in. It wasn’t supposed to be around 24 years. It wasn’t supposed to be around more than one year. But enough people saw what I was trying to do. […] I know Warped Tour isn’t perfect, but the world’s not perfect, and I think that the kids that came here from a society where we always look for perfect weren’t perfect, but they realized they were all right.”
The lineup for the 2019 edition of Warped Tour featured Blink-182 , Bad Religion, The Offspring, Anti-Flag, Andrew WK, Atmosphere, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Jawbreaker, NOFX, Sum 41 , Hawthorne Heights, Simple Plan, The Used, and more.

Warped Tour to Return in 2025, According to Founder Kevin Lyman
After being defunct since 2019
Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman has confirmed that the iconic touring punk-rock festival will make its return in 2025.
Speaking to Pollstar , Lyman shared, “We have something cooking for 2025. Details should be ready in a few weeks.” No further information about the lineup, dates, or locations has been revealed at this time, but a 2025 return would coincide with the festival’s 30th anniversary, which would surely be cause for celebration.
Warped Tour, known for being a cultural cornerstone for punk, rock, and alternative music fans, has been absent from the festival circuit since its final, abridged outing in 2019. Now, its return could be poised to unite nostalgic concert-goers with newcomers to the genres for the first time since pop-punk experienced a revival at the beginning of this decade.
Rumors of Warped Tour’s revival started circulating earlier this month when the YouTube channel Rock Feed reported that “multiple sources familiar with the matter” had confirmed the festival’s 2025 return. Rock Feed also indicated that Live Nation would now oversee the festival, with Lyman playing a yet-to-be-specified role.
Now, as we await further details, folks are reflecting on the legacy of Warped Tour, especially during a time where its ‘90s origins seem more and more distant from the realities of today’s live music landscape. Even before Lyman’s confirmation, Katy Perry recently name dropped the festival during her acceptance speech for the Video Vanguard Award at MTV’s VMAs, calling it a “bygone [place] where I found a voice, identity, and a community so early on.”
For more, revisit the eulogy for Warped Tour that Consequence ’s Alex Young wrote when its final cross-country trek was announced in 2018, praising it as once being “a rite of passage for punk-loving adolescents” and detailing its downfall amid declining lineups, controversies, and more.

Warped Tour set to return in 2025 per sources
The Vans Warped Tour could be making a comeback in 2025, according to reports from Rock Feed . The once-iconic festival, which helped launch careers in punk and pop-punk, is rumored to return as a series of bicoastal destination events. Live Nation is said to be overseeing the revival, with founder Kevin Lyman involved in the planning.
However, it seems unlikely that the festival will return in its original traveling format due to the high costs of touring. When the tour ended in 2018, Lyman pointed to issues like elitism among bands and fans, along with some missteps in booking, as factors in the festival's demise.
As for now it does not look like Attila frontman Fronz is involved. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Host Brian Storm shared the following:
According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, Warped Tour will celebrate its anniversary with a series of festivals next year when Warped Tour returns in 2025. The rock festival will now be overseen by Live Nation, although Festival founder Kevin Lyman is said to be heavily involved. A request for comment from Live Nation was not returned.

Founder Kevin Lyman Confirms The Return Of ‘Warped Tour’: “We Have Something Cooking For 2025”
The rumored 2025 return of the ‘ Warped Tour ‘ has been confirmed by its founder Kevin Lyman . Last week saw Rock Feed break the news that the once annual touring festival would be resurrected in the new year. However, the aforementioned publication also stated that Live Nation Entertainment would be involved in this version of the fest alongside Lyman .
Industry rumors also suggest that ‘ Warped Tour ‘ won’t be emerging in its traditional incarnation of a touring festival, but rather a few destination festivals marking its 30th anniversary. As Live Nation have already somewhat cornered this format with their annual ‘ When We Were Young ‘ festival, it remains to be seen how this return of the ‘ Warped Tour ‘ will play out.
Speaking to Pollstar this week, Lyman briefly confirmed the news of the festival’s return, stating, “We have something cooking for 2025. Details should be ready in a few weeks.”
Outside of a trio of destination festivals in 2019, the once annual summer institution of all things pop-punk, emo, metalcore, rap and more was last staged as a touring festival back in 2018. In 2019, Lyman told Kerrang! of the decision to bring the festival to an end:
“It got very frustrating around 2017. I was challenged by the fractured fan base, the fractured band base, the sense of community and what I got involved in this for, and what brought me into punk rock that I said ‘you know, if it’s changed this much, maybe it’s time for me to wind this thing down.’ 2017, no matter who I put up, it was like ‘F that band, F that band, where’s this band?’ It was just like, what happened to the acceptance of music and that love of music? And I realized that we had pushed the audience down to a young level—’ Warped got known as a young [tour.] But I did that because I wanted to young people to get exposed to this music, to maybe support independent music for a longer time.”
He ultimately added:
“Everyone looked at me like ‘He stopped ‘ Warped Tour ” and in our business we always look at it as money. First thing they go to: money. ‘He’s not making any money.’ And that was not it. That was not it. ‘ Warped Tour ‘ was not feeding my soul and my heart as much as you put in. Because ‘ Warped Tour ‘ was 90% about the community and 10% about the money, it really was. And some people I’m sure will say bullshit, but it’s true. I built that because I wanted to keep people coming to see live music. I wanted to build a community… And I’d lost that, that spirit was taken out of me for multiple reasons.”

Why Did Warped Tour End?
Why did Warped Tour finally come to an end?
The annual rite of summer passage, also dubbed "Punk Rock Summer Camp" by many, was a place where many music lovers discovered new bands in the '90s, 2000s and 2010s, but in 2018, the Vans Warped Tour finished its final run.
What Was the Warped Tour?
The Warped Tour, which eventually picked up sponsorship from shoe manufacturer Vans, was a traveling rock tour that started in 1995, initially with the idea of being an alternative rock festival, but eventually finding much of its early success focusing on the punk rock music scene.
As the years passed, the festival evolved to include a wider variety of acts. From the early ska and skate punk bands to welcoming nu-metal, emo, pop-punk and eventually metalcore, there was a little something for everyone.

When Did Warped Tour Officially End?
Though 2018 was the final year of Warped Tour as a touring festival, plans were announced that a 2019 25th anniversary would be taking place.
This turned into a three-city celebration, with shows taking place in Cleveland on June 8, 2019, Atlantic City on June 29 and 30, 2019, and Mountain View, California on July 20 and 21, 2019.
Why Did Warped Tour Come to an End?
While there had been rumors of the festival not being as profitable in prior years, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman spoke of the traveling tour's eventual downfall and marked it up to a loss of community.
Speaking on Kerrang! 's Inside Track podcast in 2019 , Lyman stated, "Ultimately, when I started to think about winding this down after 25 years, it was, ‘I think we’ve lost the sense of community.'"
"It took a community to make Warped Tour go," he added. "Some of that was self-inflicted… I thought you addressed the fans that complain on Twitter! I was addressing everyone and tried to keep that conversation going, but you realize that you can’t really negotiate, debate, or educate on social media!"
Lyman also added that playing on Warped Tour also came with its own stigma, revealing that some bands turned down playing the festival because they didn't want to be known as "a Warped act."
"This is what kind of pissed me off," he recalled. "Because in 1997, ‘98, Pennywise couldn’t judge a band until you met ‘em in the parking lot. You’d be in line at catering because of this community setting with no dressing rooms. You’d meet these people, and they were musicians too. Then I started watching this community tear itself apart from within, with this band — not even meeting these people, just disagreeing with them or with how they look — bashing that band online."
"People would come up to me on Warped Tour, and say, ‘Well, I don’t want to be on Warped Tour because Attila are on Warped Tour,’" he continues. "Have you met the guys in Attila? We’re not here to judge each other’s music. The fans will judge each other’s music.’ Atilla brings people. Do I personally run around screaming ‘Suck my fuck?’ No. Do you? No. But they’re good musicians and they’re not bad people. I’ve never seen them do a bad thing to someone."
"Every year, I’d send offers, and just — ‘We don’t want to tour with those bands. We don’t wanna be a Warped-esque bands,'" sighs Lyman. And it’s like, dude, Warped-esque bands — you mean Bad Religion . A Day To Remember . Paramore … it got very frustrating."
Will Warped Tour Return?
Though Warped Tour wrapped in 2019, there have been rumblings in the years since about a possible return.
In 2020, Kevin Lyman suggested in a tweet responding to a fan that it could eventually return, but with one caveat .... "it might just be called something else." But, so far, there has not been a Warped Tour rehash under the old name or something different.
One other proponent of Warped Tour's return has been Chris Fronzak , the vocalist for Attila. In 2019, Fronzak reached out to Kevin Lyman with a plan to resurrect Warped Tour .
"I've honestly been thinking about this for 2 years now," he explained at the time. "In this time period I've formulated a business plan and setup that would be viable for both bands and @VansWarpedTour itself. I have a chip on my shoulder and I wanna prove to the world that rock isn't dead."
Then, in 2023, Fronzak revisited the idea of reviving the Warped Tour as part of his presidential platform , announcing that he had planned to run for President of the United States in 2024. "If you vote for me as our next president, I promise to bring back Vans Warped Tour," he responded to a fan who suggested they'd have his vote if he brought back the popular tour.
So far, the Warped Tour has not returned.

Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman says the festival will return in 2025

Listen to Alterna 00s , Punk Party , Emo Kids , and more on the free Audacy app
“We have something cooking for 2025. Details should be ready in a few weeks,” Lyman tells Pollstar , though no additional information about the lineup, dates, or locations for the planned 30th anniversary have been revealed just yet.
Earlier this month Rock Feed reported that “multiple sources familiar with the matter” confirmed the imminent 2025 return, adding that promoter Live Nation would be overseeing the traveling festival with founder Kevin Lyman’s help.
The iconic Punk, Emo, and Alternative festival last reared its gorgeous head back in 2018/2019, helping to usher in the Pop-Punk revival that has emerged ever since, highlighted by the now three-year-running When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas. Take a look at this year's line-up just to get an idea of how many throwback bands are still rocking stages today.
Warped Tour Potentially Confirmed for 2025 Return
Lauren Boisvert
Warped Tour is returning in 2025, founder Kevin Lyman confirmed on September 20. The legendary concert event toured for 24 years before retiring in 2018, to the dismay of fans everywhere. According to Lyman, changes in the community led to the end of the tour. Allegedly, some bands didn’t want to perform with each other and declined Warped Tour invitations.
Videos by American Songwriter
Now, however, Lyman has confirmed that Warped Tour is coming back while speaking with Pollstar . “We have something cooking for 2025. Details should be ready in a few weeks,” he said. While there have been no further details, like lineup or venues, it is important to note that 2025 coincides with the festival’s 30th anniversary.
While the tour closed in 2018, it was revived the next year for a trio of shows to celebrate the 25th anniversary. So many legendary bands have played Warped Tour stages, from Fall Out Boy and Paramore to Avenged Sevenfold, Sum 41, Green Day, and so many, many more.
Warped Tour To Allegedly Return for 30th Anniversary
Warped Tour began in 1995 and traveled around North America for 24 years. It was the jumping-off point for a lot of punk and emo acts through the years, like Against Me!, AFI, Incubus, and The Damned, to name a few.
“I’ve done everything I can in the format that this is in,” Kevin Lyman told Billboard in 2018, when the tour was getting ready to retire. “It wasn’t supposed to be around 24 years. It wasn’t supposed to be around more than one year. But enough people saw what I was trying to do.”
The final three shows in 2019 featured an array of Warped Tour alumni. Bands included Blink-182, 311, Bad Religion, The All-American Rejects, Andrew W.K., Anti-Flag, Gym Class Heroes, The Offspring, Simple Plan, Bowling for Soup, Taking Back Sunday, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, and Good Charlotte.
Warped Tour had an immense cultural effect on punk, emo, and alternative kids in those 24 years. The bands that played in their early days went on to have illustrious careers in the genre. It’s probable to say that the ending of Warped Tour directly led to the inauguration of the When We Were Young Festival. Now, the OG is returning, hopefully, just in time to celebrate turning 30.
