All GCC residents, irrespective of their profession, can now get Saudi tourist visa

The multiple entry visa is valid for both tourism and for performing Umrah

Dubai: Saudi Arabia on Thursday announced that all expatriate residents in GCC countries, irrespective of their profession, will be allowed to obtain a tourist visa.

The decision was announced by the Ministry of Tourism. “Expatriate residents in GCC countries by applying through the “Visit Saudi” platform to obtain an electronic tourism visa, provided that the residence permit is valid for no less than three months.

Also, all first-degree relatives of residence visa holders and domestic workers who wish to visit along with their sponsors are allowed to obtain a tourist visa.

Those wishing to visit the Kingdom can obtain more information about the visa on www.visitsaudi.com, or the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, www.mofa.gov.sa.

The multiple entry visa is valid for both tourism and for performing Umrah, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb said.

“#SaudiArabia visa application is now simpler, more convenient and straightforward for residents of GCC states, regardless of their profession,” Al Khateeb tweeted on Thursday.

The tourist visa does not allow the holder to perform Hajj or perform Umrah during the Hajj season.

In the past, only certain categories of professions were allowed to apply for a tourist visa.

Host of facilities

Saudi Arabia in recent months unveiled a host of facilities for Muslims wishing to come to the country to undertake Umrah.

Last week, a Saudi official said the number of Muslims performing Umrah or lesser pilgrimage since the start of the season last July is expected to reach 9 million by the end of the upcoming Ramadan.

Ramadan, due to begin later this month, usually marks the peak of the Umrah season.

  • Saudi Arabia: Umrah permits in Ramadan available via Nusuk
  • 9,000 more hotel rooms in Medina in run-up to Ramadan
  • Saudi Arabia: Surveys conducted on duration of Umrah rites
  • Saudi Arabia’s free transit visa: How you can apply

“Ramadan is one of the months when overseas Umrah pilgrims come in large numbers. This year, there is something new, namely the introduction of the tourist visa that allows holder to perform Umrah,’’ added Undersecretary of Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Amr Al Madah.

He said that the numbers of Umrah pilgrims have so far neared 8 million.

“It has become very easy to obtain an Umrah visa, a matter that makes it easy for the arrival of many pilgrims,’’ he told Saudi-owned TV Al Arabiya.

Muslims holding different types of entry visas such as the personal, visit and tourism visas are allowed to undertake Umrah and visit Al Rawda Al Sharifa, where the tomb of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace be Upon Him) is located in the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina after booking an e-appointment.

Saudi authorities have also extended the Umrah visa from 30 days to 90 and allowed holders to enter the kingdom via all land, air and sea outlets and leave from any airport.

All GCC residents can apply for Saudi tourist visa online

No Image

Expat residents living in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can now obtain Saudi Arabia’s tourist visa regardless of their profession, the country’s tourism minister announced on Thursday. Saudi Press Agency said the Ministry of Tourism has taken a new step to enable residents in all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to apply online for a visit visa for tourism purposes. This will allow individuals to explore the various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah rituals.

The ministry had previously announced amendments to the regulation of visit visas for tourism, issued by Minister of Tourism Ahmed bin Aqeel al Khatib. These amendments expand the eligible categories and provide more options for those wishing to visit the Kingdom for tourism purposes, SPA said.

This comes within the Ministry of Tourism's efforts to provide an opportunity for residents in the GCC states to visit tourist destinations, participate in tourism and entertainment events, and explore the heritage and historical sites of the Kingdom.

The applicant’s residency visa validity must for at least three months while the passport must be valid for at least six months to obtain the visa.

“Saudi Arabia’s visa application is now simpler, more convenient and straightforward for residents of GCC states, regardless of their profession, ” Al Khatib tweeted.

Residents of GCC countries who wish to visit the Kingdom can visit the eVisa page, fill the requested data and upload the required documents. The visa fee costs $80 in addition to the cost of the health insurance. Once the application is submitted, applicants will get the eVisa by e-mail.

Saudi Arabia launches tourist eVisa for GCC residents

Saudi Arabia launches tourist eVisa for GCC residents

On September 1st, 2022, the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, announced his signature on a Ministerial Decree created to facilitate and expand tourism in the country. The new measures mainly benefit residents of other countries belonging to the Gulf Cooperation Council: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

From now on, residents of these countries who want to visit Saudi Arabia will be able to apply for an electronic visa online prior to their trip.

Before this decree, residents of GCC countries who wanted to travel to Saudi Arabia were required to provide their personal information, flight itinerary, return tickets, financial solvency documents, proof of accommodation, and proof of employment at their nearest Saudi embassy.

Now, all they need to do is enter Saudi Arabia’s e-visa website , upload the required documents, and pay the fees (300 SAR plus health insurance costs). After that, if they are approved, they will receive their electronic visa directly by e-mail. If they are refused the e-visa, the fees won’t be reimbursed.

There are only a few conditions: the applicant’s residency documents must have a validity of at least 3 months, their passport needs to have a validity of at least 6 months, and their occupation must be among the eligible occupations listed in the portal. If the applicant is a child under 18 years old, a parent must apply for the electronic visa first (this is mandatory).

Provided that they meet all the requirements, successful applicants will be able to travel to Saudi Arabia for tourism purposes and to attend the umrah, outside of the Hajj season.

Successful applicants can also bring their first-degree relatives with them if these relatives apply for an e-visa as well. However, these family members will only be able to enter the country if they are accompanied by the main applicant.

The electronic visa can be valid for single or multiple entries, depending on the case. An electronic visa for a single entry last 3 months and visas for multiple entries last up to one year.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will decide which electronic visa is appropriate for the applicant. Based on this decision, authorities will grant foreign travelers permission to stay in the country for 30 days (if they choose a single-entry e-visa for the traveler) or 90 days (if they opt for a visa valid for multiple entries).

The Ministerial Decree also enables residents of the UK, US, and the EU to apply for a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia. Holders of a valid tourist or business visa from the UK, US, or any Schengen country could already apply for a visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia if they had used their visas at least once to arrive in the country granting the visa. This option continues to be available for them.

Citizens of other countries can visit Saudi Arabia for tourism purposes through an electronic visa if they are from the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Andorra, Iceland, Monaco, Ukraine, Russia, Montenegro, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, or the European Union. All of these countries are also eligible for a 12-month tourism visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Here's how Bahrain, GCC residents can apply for a Saudi eVisa

Here's how Bahrain, GCC residents can apply for a Saudi eVisa

Agencies | Riyadh

The Daily Tribune – www.newsofbahrain.com

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism announced a new Ministerial Decree that will allow faster, easier access to the country.

New regulations will enable Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents the option to apply for an eVisa through Visit Saudi's online portal. Moreover, residents of the UK, the US, and the EU can apply for a visa on arrival.  Holders of a valid tourist or business visa from the UK, US or one of the Schengen agreement countries will continue to be applicable for a visa on arrival, provided the tourist or business visa has been used at least once to enter the country.  The eVisa will be a one-year, multiple entry visa, allowing tourists to spend up to 90 days in the country. It covers tourism-related activities and Umrah (excluding Haj season) and excludes other activities such as studying.

The new decree also no longer requires visitors to visit the country's embassy before entering Saudi Arabia, allowing potential travellers a more simplified journey.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism for Saudi Arabia, said, "Elevating the visitor experience is at the heart of the tourism sector's future. Through harnessing digital innovation and streamlining the traveller journey, Saudi Arabia is welcoming more and more visitors from all corners of the globe."

Travellers from 48 countries are eligible to apply for the visa; including Canada, the USA, Switzerland, the UK, China, Singapore, Australia, and South Korea. However, South Asian countries India and Pakistan are not on the list of countries eligible for the eVisa.

Here is how applicants can apply for the visa:

According to the https://visa.visitsaudi.com/ website, travellers can apply for a visa in three simple steps:

  • Fill in the online application
  • Pay the visa fee
  • Get your online visa

Here are things to keep in mind:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old to use the service and to apply for an eVisa. Travellers cannot use the service if they are under 18 years of age. "If you will be using the service on behalf of a minor, you agree to these terms on behalf of that minor and you represent that you have the authority to do so. If you do not have such authority, you must not use the service," according to instructions posted by the Saudi Ministry of Tourism.
  • Applicants need to have a valid passport with six months validity from a permitted country.
  • If the eVisa application is accepted, the visa will be sent as an attachment via e-mail.
  • Rejected applicants will be informed via e-mail.
  • Once applicants have submitted an application for an eVisa, they will not be able to cancel it or request a refund under any circumstances.
  • However, applicants that are not successful (for whatever reason) will not be entitled to a refund of any application fees paid.
  • Any application containing false or misleading information will be rejected.
  • Payment of an application fee does not guarantee approval of an eVisa.
  • The price of the service will be set out on the Website and at the time of payment during the eVisa application process.
  • VAT will be charged at the applicable rate and will be payable by the applicant as part of the fees.
  • eVisa will be valid for one year from the date of issuance.
  • It will be valid for multiple entries unless stated otherwise on the specific eVisa.
  • The maximum length of stay allowed under the eVisa is three months.
  • Once granted an eVisa, it cannot be extended.
  • If the eVisa expires before entry to KSA, applicants must apply again and another application fee must be paid.
  • An eVisa is granted solely for tourist purposes or for the purpose of performing an Umrah and it is not considered a visa for work.
  • Applicants must be able to support themselves (and any dependents) during the visit.

Bangladeshi missions in the UAE have urged all countrymen to respect local laws and not engage in prohibited activities, which could result in the cancellation of their visas, jail time, fines, and a ban on entering the UAE.

Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General in Dubai asked their citizens not to take videos and photos of such activities and share any rumours and propaganda.

This comes after three Bangladeshis were sentenced to life imprisonment and 54 others to be deported after serving prison terms over riots and protests in the UAE. On Friday (July 19), many Bangladeshis took to the streets in the UAE against their government in Dhaka.

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

On July 22, the three accused were given life for calling demonstrations and inciting riots in UAE to put pressure on their government during the recent unrest over job reservation in Bangladesh. The court also sentenced 53 others to 10 years and one defendant to 11 years for entering the country illegally and participating in the 'gathering'.

“All expatriate Bangladeshis living in the UAE are requested to respect the laws and regulations of the host country-the UAE. Incidentally, it should be noted that, according to the laws of this country, without the prior permission of the appropriate authorities, any kind of assembly, procession or shouting slogans, indulging in any activity that may create unrest, panic or confusion in the public mind, spreading rumour/propaganda, recording video of it or any such message/image/video on social media,” the missions said in a statement to Khaleej Times on Monday.

“Uploading or sharing, disrupting road traffic etc. is strictly prohibited. In case of engaging in such activities, the concerned person is likely to face more severe punishment including cancellation of visa, jail, fine, repatriation, and ban on entering this country in the future. Therefore, it is requested not to involve yourself in such activities and also to warn your colleagues, friends and known expatriate brothers and sisters about it,” said the statement.

More than 100 Bangladeshis have been killed so far during protests against their government in the South Asian country. Demonstrations were carried out, mostly by students, demanding a change in job reservations in Bangladesh.
