Hi everyone, I'm thinking of visiting the UT Chattanooga campus for a tour. Has anyone taken the campus tour before? How was it, and do you have any tips on must-see spots or anything I should ask during the tour?
Hi there! I'm glad you're considering visiting the UT Chattanooga campus. While I haven't personally taken the tour, I've heard from many students who have. They typically mention that the tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable, providing great insight into the campus life and the academic experience.
Here's some advice for your visit to UT Chattanooga:
1. Arrive early: Give yourself some time to park and find the starting location for the tour. Plus, by arriving early, you'll have a chance to explore the surroundings and perhaps chat with current students.
2. Take notes and photos: Use your phone to capture pictures of the spots you like, and jot down any interesting information provided by the tour guide. This will help you recall the highlights when comparing colleges later on.
3. Must-see spots: Be sure to check out UTC's Aquatic and Recreation Center (ARC), which has an impressive indoor pool and a variety of amenities. The Lupton Library is another noteworthy spot, as well as the Challenger STEM Learning Center, if you're interested in science, technology, engineering, or math.
4. Interact with current students: If possible, chat with a few current students during your visit. They can provide a different perspective on the campus culture, academic workload, and their favorite aspects of UTC.
5. Ask questions during the tour: Think of specific interests you have, such as research opportunities, study abroad programs, or any unique majors you're considering. Don't be shy to ask questions - it'll help you get a better understanding of what UTC can offer you.
6. Explore Chattanooga: If you have time, explore the city of Chattanooga itself. This can help you determine if the city is a good fit for you while attending college.
Remember to enjoy the tour and use it as an opportunity to figure out if UT Chattanooga is the right fit for you. Good luck!

Here's what's happening this week in the Chattanooga area.
Did you know?
Five fast facts about the Fourth of July from the Farmers' Almanac , the U.S. Census Bureau and knowledgeworks.org :
› The most recent version of the U.S. flag was designed in 1958 by 17-year-old Robert Heft as a part of a school project while he was living with his grandparents in Lancaster, Ohio. Hawaii and Alaska were being considered for statehood, and more than 1,500 potential redesigns had been submitted to President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Heft got a B- for the project because the teacher said it had too many stars. The teacher changed the grade to an A after Heft's design was adopted.
› The first Fourth of July fireworks displays were held in 1777.
› Although the Second Continental Congress declared its separation from England on July 2, 1776, the Declaration of Independence wasn't signed until July 4, so it was observed as Independence Day.
› The number of people living in the new free nation in July 1776: 2.5 million. The nation's estimated population as of July 2023: 334.9 million.
› The approximate value of fireworks imported into the United States in 2023: $396 million.
