Excellent customer service! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. A special thank you to the two men who were working there who made my son feel special by fixing his first bike.

My favorite TREK store. Kind, thorough and thoughtful service. As a city person, I love that they have tons of parking so if I can't ride my bike to the store, I can easily drop it off.

Took the bike back and explained what happened. They took the time to take a look at it and (hopefully) fix it. Took it for a quick spin around the parking lot and the weird creakiness/bad feeling seems to be gone. Optimistic this took care of it and appreciate them for taking another crack at it without charging me again.

At the end of my first ride after getting my bike back from the shop, the pedal straight up fell off.

I brought my road bike in for routine maintenance after a summer of riding pretty consistently. They recommended a new chain in addition to the usual maintenance tasks. I was willing to go along with that. On my first ride after receiving my bike back from the shop I was surprised how squeaky everything was. I was planning to lube up the chain when I got back from the ride but just as I was finishing up, turning left onto a busy road, my left pedal/crankset popped right off with my foot still connected to it. Luckily I had enough momentum to steer myself to the side of the road. Incredibly dangerous situation. Between the squeaky bike and now the detached pedal, I wish I never took my bike here.

Love Spokes/Trex- got my bike from here and accessories. They have options and all you through the process, etc.

I have bought multiple bikes from Spokes at this location and I am a regular. The same people who were in charge of this location now run the Trek store. I have had the best experience over the years interacting with people at this location, servicing my bikes, follow up on warranties, fixing my bikes last minute and I am very thankful for all the help I get with my bikes here. I recommend this store to anyone for the service and for purchasing any bikes or accessories. I have many bike shops close to my house but I rather drive 40 minutes to get my bikes fixed here.

I just wanna say that I am blown away by the service that Spokes has given me. I am a brand new rider and Augie the (GOAT, Greatest of all time for those who aren't cultured) went above and beyond with answering all my questions and giving me great advice. With the other stores in the area, I was quoted for spring of 2020 for the bike I wanted in my budget. Even though they originally didn't have any bikes in my range, Augie still gave me advice on buying used or even from other retailers which I really appreciated. He just wanted to see me get into the hobby. What really blew me away was that the following day, somehow somewhere the exact bike I was looking for showed up in the shop and he had thought of me and contacted me about it. That's just next level. I am a new owner of a trek road bike and I have to thank Augie for it. Everyone should come see him at the store. (Also thanks to Ryan as well)

I have been wanting to buy my husband a bike for a while and planned to get him one for his birthday this year. But when Virginia shut down due to COVID-19 I was worried I wouldn't be able to buy a bike. I emailed with Spokes and Carl helped he choose the perfect bike for my husband - a recreational rider who needs something high quality and versatile. He sent me some options to consider over email so that when I visited the store I was able to choose the best one. Carl set me up with the accessories I needed but nothing I didn't need. When I asked about a certain bike rack, he came out and looked at my car and told me the rack wouldn't work on my car. Spokes has limited hours and have taken measures to keep their staff and customers safe. They are limiting the number of customers in the store, and when I was inside it was very easy to stay at least 6 feet from anyone else. Everyone was wearing masks. My husband loves his new bike and took it out for 20 km as soon as I gave it to him. He said it was the best ride he's ever had!

I haven't made a proper purchase there (Gu doesn't really count). But I was curious to see what the store was like under new ownership. Staff are friendlier and more helpful than under prior ownership. The Arlington location is the "Pro Level" Spokes store that sells higher-end products including triathlon bikes and Zipp wheels. If the Arlington store is as friendly as they are in Vienna, I will be coming back. For now, I just wanted to get them on the map and wish them well...

You are here, trek buys four-store chain revolution cycles.

ARLINGTON, Va. (BRAIN) — Trek Bicycle has acquired Revolution Cycles, a four-store chain with locations in Washington, D.C.; Arlington, Virginia; Rockville, Maryland; and Stafford, Virginia. Mike Hamannwright opened the first location in Georgetown in 1998 and grew it to be one of the major retailers in the mid-Atlantic market. He was also a top Trek dealer in the U.S. Hamannwright operated two of his stores as Trek Concept Stores at one point.

According to retailers in the D.C. market, Revolution Cycles had been on the block for some time. Hamannwright, who's no longer part of the business, could not be reached for comment on this report.

"Trek has acquired Revolution Cycles in D.C. Our overall strategy ... has not changed and we have no plans to open or acquire stores in markets where we are well represented by competent and committed Trek retailers," said a company spokesperson.

"In markets where we have a low market share and cannot find a viable solution or have a committed retailer looking for an exit solution, such as the case with Revolution, we are open to the idea of Trek management and ownership," he said.

Trek currently owns 12 stores in the U.S. Shops were acquired under various circumstances including stores that were experiencing financial and operational difficulties or where storeowners planned to close for good or retire from the business.

Trek dealers in the market had mixed feelings about competing with their supplier for sales. But most said they saw the move as a way for Trek to maintain its distribution in a key market.

"I'm excited to see that a company the size of Trek believes in brick and mortar enough to invest in it," said Steve Ruck, owner of Bike Doctor, which operates seven brick-and-mortar stores in Maryland. Three are franchises and four are owned by him. Bike Doctor carries Trek, among other brands.

"The rumor mill is that bike shops are going away, but the flip side is if Trek is investing in brick and mortar that sends me a signal otherwise. I'd rather have a good retailer in the area that's there to make a profit and give good service than a bad one down the street who's driving customers to the internet," he added.

Jim Strang, owner of Spokes Etc. with five stores in Northern Virginia, is another longtime Trek dealer. Strang said he wasn't upset or happy about the ownership change.

"Trek has always been pro-retailer and I think they will continue to be pro-retailer," Strang said. "Assuming they operate like Mike was operating, I have no issue. Trek has always been supportive of retailers. I don't see it as a game changer."

Another large retailer in the market, Race Pace Bicycles, with five stores in Maryland, also carries Trek, along with Cannondale, Scott, Felt and a few other brands. Owner Alex Obriecht said he has been a Trek dealer since 1980 and isn't particularly enthusiastic about being in competition with his supplier.

"I'm not happy. But I'm engaging in conversations with Trek," Obriecht said. "But I do want to say that I recognize why wholesale distributors take this step. I understand it. If you can't get a brand in front of a consumer, what is your solution? They perceive this as a simple solution.

"I anticipate them being a fair competitor," he added.
