The Peak Pass offers you unlimited travel (not valid for skiing) on the following lifts/trains: Zermatt - Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, Zermatt - Rothorn, Zermatt - Gornergrat and Furi - Riffelberg (as timetabled). Admission to the Glacier Palace, the use of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn between Randa, Täsch and Zermatt as well as the use of the local bus are all included in the Peak Pass.
Summer snow sports option (01.05. - 31.10.) For an extra CHF 33.00 (CHF 20.00 for children) per day you can also use the glacier ski area during the period covered by your Peak Pass. The summer snow sports option can be purchased from the Matterhorn glacier paradise sales desk.

Questions & answers
You can buy online tickets up to a few minutes before first using them. The one exception is when you buy a new KeyCard, which is sent out by post. This must be done at least five days before the validity period of the ticket begins.
No, the ticket prices are exactly the same. However, the Matterhorn app has a smaller range of tickets to choose from. In the Matterhorn app you can also load ski passes onto the SBB Swisspass. The Matterhorn app is available to download free from the App Store or Google Play store .
With the half-fare card/GA you get 50% off the following tickets:
- Single & return tickets to all stations in Switzerland (until and including Testa Grigia)
- Peak2Peak ticket, Gornergrat round trip ticket
- Kombi-tickets
- Bike passes
On the Peak Pass you get a 25% discount with the half-fare card/GA.
You can buy the reduced tickets online if you have a SwissPass with a valid half-fare/GA travelcard. The ticket will be charged directly to your card. Please remember to carry the SwissPass card with you (mobile SwissPass is not possible). Otherwise, we ask you to buy your reduced tickets at one of our sales points upon presentation of your reduction card.
If you already own a KeyCard, you can load the online ticket onto your card. It’s activated and valid after just a few minutes (no more than 30 minutes). With a newly purchased KeyCard dispatched by post, we will mail your ticket to any address in Europe specified by you. From a period of five days or less before the start date of the ticket, the only available option is on-site collection. If you choose the “pick-up” function (on-site collection), you can either get your ticket conveniently from one of the twelve ticket machines or collect it from one of our sales points (go to the desk with the “pick-up” sign). Please note that if you do not have a data carrier, a deposit of CHF 5 for each ticket will be charged at the sales point. The deposit will be refunded when you return your ticket(s) at one of our sales points in Zermatt.
People with a disability receive a discount if they are dependent on an accompanying person (note on an official document of disability). On presentation of the relevant document at our sales points, either the accompanying person or the person with a dissability will receive a free ticket.

With one of the best rail networks in the world, it makes sense to travel by train to Zermatt and the ‘Swiss Travel Pass’ can help make it a bit more affordable.

- Finding accommodation in Zermatt
A ‘ Swiss Travel Pass’ gives visitors to the country unlimited travel across the Swiss travel system for a continuous period of 3, 4, 8 or 15 days.
There is another variation, known as the ‘Swiss Travel Pass Flex’ which offers unlimited travel on flexible days (rather than on consecutive days).
It’s also available for either 3, 4, 8 or 15 travel days, but across an overall period of a month.
A 3-day Swiss Travel Pass costs GBP211 and an 8-day pass GBP354 (as at March 2023). You can check all the current prices at their website
A second class return ticket from Zurich to Zermatt typically costs CHF118. From Geneva it’s slightly less at CHF98.
However, if you want to break your journey over several days and spend more time in Switzerland, or you plan to take advantage of the discounts offered in Zermatt (see below), then a Swiss Travel Pass is likely to be a better option.
The ‘Swiss Travel Pass Flex’ is typically a better choice than the regular ‘Swiss Travel Pass’ if you’re plan to stay put between journeys (say if you are coming to Zermatt for a week).
The Swiss Travel Pass Youth ticket means that young people under 26 can claim a 15% discount on the pass.
Children under 16 do not need a ticket at all, and travel for free as long as they are travelling with an adult who has a valid ticket.
One single ticket
The way the Swiss Travel Pass works is that you either download it to your phone, or with a physical copy, simply sign your ticket before starting your first journey.
You then have to show it the ticket inspector together with your passport or identity card when asked.
The obvious inclusions are that you qualify for unlimited free travel on all the train, bus and ferry routes around Switzerland.
If that wasn’t enough holders are also eligible for a 50% discount on other routes (shown in the map below as dotted red, yellow or black lines)
In addition, also included are discounts on certain mountain railways and lifts (see below for more Zermatt-specific info).
It can be useful for any stays in Switzerland as users are eligible for unlimited use of public transport in more than 90 towns and cities around this country, and free entry to more than 500 museums.
There are additional discounts for Swiss Travel Pass holders in Zermatt. These include a 50% reduction on the Gornergrat railway , Klein Matterhorn Glacier Paradise 3S lift , Sunegga funicular and Rothorn cable car.
Remember that all these lifts are included in a regular Zermatt lift pass, if you are buying one of these to go skiing, and that the bus service around Zermatt is already free for all lift pass holders.
Access to Zermatt’s excellent museum is also free for holders of the Swiss Travel Pass.
However, if you’re planning to come to Zermatt for a short trip, or for our many non-ski activities , then these discounts represent an extra bonus from the Swiss Travel Pass.

If you are planning on using a range of trains and gondolas while in Zermatt, then the Peak Pass could be just the ticket for you!
This Peak Pass lets you ride for free on most of Zermatt’s mountain railways and gondolas as well as some shorter journeys on the local railway to the likes of Täsch or Randa. The pass is aimed at visitors and tourists who want to make the most of the mountains in Zermatt while visiting, without spending a fortune. Which it can certainly cost if you ride many of the trains and gondolas!

Free Train Rides, Mountain Railways & Cable Cars
One of the biggest costs during any visit to Zermatt is the cablecars and mountain railways. Trust me, I have spent hundreds on visits to Zermatt, just getting to the best hikes and viewpoints. However, with the Peak Pass you can save a whole lot of money because you can take unlimited rides on the following main lines:
- Gornergrat Bahn
- Matterhorn glacier paradise to Klein Matterhorn)
- Sunnegga-Rothorn
- Train rides to Randa & Täsch
Keep in mind that the Peak Pass includes all major railways and cablecars but not every lift on the mountain. Most simple chairlifts & ski lifts are not included in the pass. However, with the three major ones covered, you will likely be able to go almost anywhere you want for free, like to the
- Klein Matterhorn
You can even use it to get to and from your car when it is parked in Täsch (as you can’t drive it into Zermatt) or to go on the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge above Randa.

yes! you can online and pickup at the machine there. you can also buy at the machine directly. machine is right next to platform.
