If you're a fan of The Grand Tour , you've probably seen the Madagascar special . That saw Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond travel across Madagascar to find hidden pirate treasure. And they all bought their own vehicles to get them through the challenge. Clarkson bought a Bentley Continental from 2014, which he turned into the MFB Continental. But, what happened to the car after it was finished in Madagascar? Was it scrapped? Thankfully, the answer is no.
What Happened To The Bentley MFB After Madagascar?
YouTube channel Grand Tour Nation was able to provide an update on the car and what's happened to it since Madagascar. The Grand Tour partnered with Bentley to modify the car to off-road usage, which was originally a press car. Bentley Motors' Head of Product Communications, Mike Sayer, said the work was very collaborative, and they helped finish the work off at Bentley to make sure that it all worked okay. Clarkson brought it back to the UK after falling in love with it.

But, things got a bit messy as DVLA, which is the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, said it had to be destroyed as it had started out as a development mule. This rule is in place so that designs like this never seep into the production market. So, it looked like it was all over for the rather crazy off-road Bentley just as it arrived on British soil. Clarkson gave it back to the company, after using it on his farm for a period.
Clarkson's Bentley MFB Gets New Lease On Life
Yet thankfully, the car was instead placed on display at Bentley HQ in Crewe (Cheshire, England). Mike Sayer was so impressed by the car and how much punishment it could soak up when it was running through the horrible and tough roads and terrain of Madagascar. It is now displayed within the Bentley factory limits in a glass box that is just viewable from outside the factory on Pyms Lane, a road that goes past the factory. This means that the car has been saved from scrapping, thanks to Bentley being so unbelievably proud of the car that they helped build for the Amazon show.

The Grand Tour episode 12 is the best in the series so far
The Grand Tour episode 12, coming again from the shores of Loch Ness , focused its attention on a three-way comparison between a trio of British SUVs. An excellent film consisting of the new Jaguar F-Pace, the huge Bentley Bentayga and the ever-present Range Rover .
They weave their way between Austria and Germany, enjoying a route through sleazy towns whose names they might struggle with during their BBC reign, but under their own license, they relish in being naughty. Their lustful journey starts at "Wank" which Jeremy pronounces dutifully using the German enunciation, of "Vank" and they head onto the town of "Fucking". You can sense the teenager still living in all of them – trying not to chuckle, like the day in the back of the classroom when they discovered there was a place in France called "Brest".

It's an interesting trio of cars and they are happy partners in a joyous combined test. The film is enjoyable, the company is entertaining, and the final race between them is stunningly shot and invigorating to watch.
Each of the three cars are fascinating cars in their own way and seeing them on the same scale makes them all the more intriguing. It's worth noting that the top spec F-Pace Hammond drives is cheaper than the extras alone on James' Bentayga.

The engine of the mighty Bentayga is a almighty 6.0 W12 complete with twin turbos. Despite weighing well over two tonnes, it builds speed at a remarkable rate. Slice that engine in half and you have the dimensions of the Jaguar, a 3 litre V6 growler with a supercharger. With aluminium weight saving applied to the Jag’s chassis, it's seriously quick and nimble too. Power and speed is one thing, but little prepares you for seeing these beasts fly and achieve air during their wonderful racing laps.
The Bentayga at first seemed like a clumsy accident, but as GQ accurately predicted at the time of its launch, the Bentley seems to have grown into it.

However, the other two wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the success of the old Range Rover. Let’s not forget, the Range Rover wasn’t designed to attractive a wealthy elite and footballers who wanted chic, understated luxury and prowess on the road – it just happened that those audiences decided to love it anyway. And so all the competitors followed, trying to get a slice of the same audience, now they knew what that audience liked.
This is why the Range Rover is the real winner. It was designed not for a target audience, but for a purpose. To climb any mountain and ford any stream, without sacrificing any comfort or ability on the road. It’s the original. It’s stayed true to its ethos and really can achieve anything off-road, as the Grand Tour trio demonstrated.

The Grand Tour’s Jeremy Clarkson reveals custom Bentley has been SCRAPPED after shipping car to UK majorly backfired
- Published : 9:28, 24 Dec 2020
- Updated : 9:51, 24 Dec 2020
JEREMY Clarkson has been forced to bid farewell to his beloved custom Bentley.
The luxe vehicle, which was kitted out with heavy duty enhancements to tackle Madagascar's roughest roads, was driven by Clarkson in the latest special Grand Tour episode A Massive Hunt .
The trio each chose different motors to navigate the tropical landscapes and Clarkson admitted that the process saw him bond with his green powerhouse of a car.
In fact, he enjoyed driving it so much that he decided to have it shipped back to his home in the UK to keep.
Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be - as he was subsequently told he had to scrap the Bentley because of its custom build.
"I fell so deeply in love with that car that I decided I’d bring it back to the farm,” Jeremy explained.

“It took a while but, eventually, the Bentley arrived back in Britain, and I was very happy.
"But then came word from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency - the Bentley had started in life as a development mule and the rules say these must be destroyed to ensure they don’t ever seep onto the market."
The news will no doubt leave motoring enthusiasts cringing given the staggering value of Bentleys, which costs hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Clarkson's comments come after he revealed the staggeringly low amount of money he made when Top Gear launched on the BBC .

He claimed that the show was at "the bottom of the BBC ladder" and he raked in a meagre sum annually as a host.
He told the Andy Jaye Podcast: "For the first five years I was on Top Gear the most I earned was £180 in a year.
“People say BBC people are overpaid – we weren’t then.
“We got paid nothing, that’s for sure. While crews and producers would fly to locations I’d be expected to drive the car to the likes of Europe, we were seen very much as the bottom rung of the ladder, the worst paid on the set and so on.

Clarkson, Hammond and May spotted in Georgia with bust of Stalin mounted to Bentley
Grand tour boys cause more controversy.
JEREMY Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are showing no signs of toning down their antics on the new series of The Grand Tour, after being spotted driving through Georgia with a bust of Joseph Stalin mounted to the bonnet of a Bentley.
The three Amazon Prime Video presenters are in the former Soviet country filming one of their trademark challenges, in which they travel cross-country in three different cars performing tasks set by the show’s producer.
The host’s vehicles are often modified by their rivals without their knowledge, or embarrassing or bulky gifts are bought with the intention of hampering their colleagues’ progress during the challenge.
The addition of the Stalin bust on the Bentley Continental GT, which is thought to be piloted by Hammond or May, could be just such a move. The other two drivers are behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DBS and BMW M850i for the Georgia challenge.
Georgia was defeated by the Red Army in 1921 and was incorporated into the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic, which in 1922 became the Soviet Union. It declared its independence from the USSR in 1991, shortly before the collapse of the Union.
Joseph Stalin was an ethnic Georgian who ruled the Soviet Union from 1922 until his death, in 1953. He remains one of the most notorious figures in history, with nearly 800,000 documented executions to his name, as well as over 1.5m deaths of those detained in the Gulag and many more millions estimated to have died as a result of famine under his regime. He is also accused of crimes including ethnic cleansing.
Despite this, Stalin has retained popularity in some parts of Russia and Georgia for his role in defeating the Nazis and establishing the Soviet Union as a major world power.
There’s only one explanation to this mess – @JeremyClarkson travels in Georgia! pic.twitter.com/Eqa11xsa3A — georgia.travel (@GeorgiaAndTrave) October 3, 2018
According to The Grand Tour Fans YouTube account, which is following the programme’s progress and posted the video, the presenters visited the house in which Stalin was born, in Gori, as well as the Stalin Museum, which according to the Independent still worships the Communist dictator.
The Grand Tour team then travelled inland to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, where they were spotted at Dry Bridge Market. They are expected to conclude their journey in Azerbaijan, which was also a founding member of the Soviet Union.
It goes without saying that this isn’t the first time the trio have caused controversy on foreign soil, with the most hair-raising being the time the cast and crew were forced to flee Argentina fearing for their lives, after it was noticed the Porsche driven by Clarkson had the numberplate H982 FKL — seen as a reference to the Falklands invasion of 1982.
Series three of The Grand Tour is due to air from next month. Insiders believe Amazon is keen to continue the show beyond season three, as it is their most successful show in terms of cost versus new subscribers, but there is no news on a fourth series yet. After a third, full-throttle series, the team may want to take a little break.

5 Things To Know About Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s Fresh New Look
Following a $500 million renovation, Pennsylvania’s sprawling premier retreat — with three hotels, a Five-Star restaurant and much more — looks more luxurious than ever.

The Chateau at Nemacolin was at the center of the major makeover.
Tucked away in Pennsylvania’s picturesque Laurel Highlands , Nemacolin Woodlands Resort has been a cherished retreat for discerning East Coast families for nearly four decades. Though some may recognize it as the backdrop of a memorable season of The Bachelor, this family-owned, four-season property offers much more.
The resort’s distinct accommodation styles range from modern private homes to three unique resorts: Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Falling Rock (inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater nearby), the Four-Star Chateau (modeled after classic European-style resorts like Five-Star Ritz Paris ) and the family-centric Grand Lodge .
After a $500 million renovation, including significant updates to The Grand Lodge in late 2023 and The Chateau this summer, the resort has reemerged, more luxurious than ever. With these transformative updates, Nemacolin has reaffirmed its reputation as a premier luxury escape. Here are five key highlights to entice your next visit:
Guest rooms received a fresh coat of wow.
New Rooms Offer Elevated Comfort and Style — and Butlers
The recent room makeover at Nemacolin introduces a chic modern aesthetic while preserving the resort’s classic charm. Falling Rock now features art deco-inspired interiors, The Chateau pays homage to Europe’s grand resorts and The Grand Lodge embodies its name with a fresh, playful twist. Sumptuous, custom-made beds and bespoke furnishings grace each room, enveloping you in a cocoon of serene opulence.
Upgrades to The Grand Lodge suites include smart home systems for personalized room control, Dyson dryers and personalized butler service across most accommodations.
Almost all corners of Nemacolin were a part of the opulent overhaul.
A New Level of Leisure
One of our favorite aspects of Nemacolin is the near 24/7 excitement for the whole family. In favorable weather, you can unwind by the newly renovated pool area, take on one of two Pete Dye-designed golf courses or embark on an adrenaline-pumping day at The Peak, the resort’s adventure complex with activities like a high ropes challenge course, an off-road Jeep outing and paintball. Unique experiences include an animal safari featuring rehabilitated lions, tigers and bears.
Nearly every activity has been refreshed, including a new fitness center, updated live entertainment by the pool and even a Rod & Range Club for sporting clays, fishing and other outdoor fun. If you can dream it, you can do it at Nemacolin. Did we mention there’s even a casino?
The aptly named Bleu Room is a colorful addition to the resort.
From Finger Foods to Fine Dining
The operative word is “choice” when exploring Nemacolin’s updated dining outlets. The highlight is the reimagined Five-Star Lautrec , a tasting-menu experience with a nod to the creative artwork of Toulouse-Lautrec, whose lithographs adorn the walls. We also love the whimsical Fawn & Fable , a steakhouse that engages the whole family with dishes like “Snow White’s Oysters” and a playful roasted fowl dubbed “Chicken Little.”
And for those in-between times, the Bleu Room, set in a stylish all-blue lounge, offers a fun interpretation of afternoon tea, while sundaes at PJ’s Ice Cream Parlor or creative evening cocktails at the aptly named Nightcap make for the perfect indulgence. A new Italian concept, Gusto! , will open later this year. The biggest challenge could be staying long enough to try it all.
Be inspired by the art at Reflections.
An Artist’s Oasis
Everywhere you look, Nemacolin is a living art gallery. Take an outdoor driving tour or an indoor art walk (self-guided or with an on-property curator) to discover fine art and sculptures by legends such as Fernando Botero, Alexander Calder and Norman Rockwell, plus historical treasures like a chunk of the Berlin Wall. The luxury resort also hosts a rotating selection of contemporary fine artists through an artist-in-residence series.
The resort encourages art in all forms. Exciting live entertainment — Lady Gaga and Michael Bublé even performed at the resort’s reopening party this summer — and creative art classes for adults and children regularly fill the schedule.
As a cherry on top, you can explore the private airplane hangar featuring a fully restored 1931 PA-8 Pitcairn Super Mailwing once belonging to Hollywood legend Steve McQueen, or visit the “auto toy store,” home to the owner’s 1913 Ford Model T Speedster, a 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II, a 1995 Bentley Continental Convertible and other gems from his private collection of luxury cars.
Every day is a celebration at the new Nightcap.
Getting in the Holiday Spirit
If there’s one thing Nemacolin excels at, it’s throwing a spectacular celebration. Whether it’s a Halloween House Party (October 26), a decadent Thanksgiving weekend (November 28 to December 1), an over-the-top holiday village and light display (November 29 to December 23) or even a supersized Super Bowl watch party (February 9), the resort goes all out for special occasions. We highly recommend planning a weekend around one of these major events, as the festive atmosphere at Nemacolin is simply unparalleled.

Where Does Jeremy Clarkson’s Lifted Bentley Continental GT Rank In His Most Outrageous Grand Tour And Top Gear Cars?
The Grand Tour Madagascar is here, and to our amazement, a whole day early as Amazon attempts to repair fan relationships after such a late release. A Massive Hunt follows Jeremy Clarkson , Richard Hammond, and James May as they fight their way across the awful roads of the East African island.
To do this, they modified three unsuspecting cars: a Bentley Continental GT, a Ford Focus RS, and a Caterham. The most impressive of the three was certainly the Bentley, which Clarkson was so pleased with, he actually took it home after the episode was filmed.
It’s been highly modified to cope with off-roading, including an entirely armoured underbody, lifted and extended suspension, wide arches with equally wide off-road wheels, and a snorkel allowing the car to wade through deep water. No doubt, this thing is a serious bit of kit, but how does it compare to the other ridiculous cars Jeremy has driven throughout his career?
So, what other cars match this level of madness? The Excellent is most definitely up there, as is John, which the trio constructed in Mongolia. From the Top Gear days, maybe Geoff and the Eagle i-Thrust should be at the top of the list?
Let’s break this down. In regards to how successful each of those cars were, the Conti comes out on top. For one, it actually made it through the perilous journey over Madagascan roads, and while John also managed to take the trio back to civilisation, the Conti did so with the greatest of ease and luxury. Okay, maybe it wasn’t so easy, but according to James May, Clarkson only complained of a sweaty back.
The Bentley also wins in the shock department. Yes, if you saw the Eagle i-thrust coming the other way you’d definitely need to look twice, but a Continental is the last car you’d think about modifying for an adventure like Madagascar. The surprise of seeing a luxury GT with off-road tyres, a wider body, and a snorkel, it would take my breath away, for sure.
Performance? Well, again the Bentley comes out on top with an AWD powertrain and a W12 underneath the bonnet producing around 567 horsepower.
So, what do you think? Let us know where you think it ranks in the comments below and we’ll publish your thoughts.
