The Study Link representative Nadine is to be congratulated. The service was excellent. We will use Study Link again - and recommend you to colleagues.”

Dr Martin Simpson, Associate Head of History at University of the West of England

“I spoke to a few other student groups all doing the same trade fair and Studylink appeared to be the best value for travel and accommodation. I will be using you again next year!”

Molière is considered the creator of modern French comedy : Dom Juan, The Miser, The Bourgeois Gentleman, The Impostures of Scapin, The Imaginary Invalid… His art is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the French language and universal literature.

Student Tours Paris and Collective Intelligence

Unlocking collective intelligence at the University to sustainably boost the society of the future. Collective intelligence refers to the capacity of a community to bring intelligence and knowledge together in order to advance towards a common goal. It results from the quality of the interactions between its members. This idea is the very essence of collective intelligence: the pooling of its imagination, ability to think and solve problems.

“Far from hurting me, the one who differs from me, enriches me.” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince author

From Antiquity, Aristotle already posed the question of collective intelligence: “it is indeed possible that the majority, each member of which is not virtuous, united together is better than the elite, not separately but collectively […]. Since there are so many of them, each has a share of virtue and wisdom, and from that meeting, the mass becomes like one man, with many feet, and several hands, and provided with many sensations, and so does the same for his character and intelligence. “(Aristotle, extract from Politics, book III, chapter XI).

Education in France

One of the best education system in the world.

France has an excellent academic reputation. The French higher education system is one of the best in the world, perfect for international students. Studying in France remains an affordable option for international students who seek a quality higher education. Tuition rates in France’s public institutions of higher education are identical for domestic and international students.

French universities are on the top of renowned university rankings each year. France is particularly a good choice for those wanting to study business and research related subjects. The country is a hub for international business, research, management education, and has lots of business schools in the worldwide rankings.

Affordable tuition with high institution

Tuition costs are set every year. In 2017, average annual tuition costs for undergraduate studies were less than €200 (under US$250). For master’s studies, the rates are around €259 (around US$305) and for doctoral studies it’s around €393 (US$460). Students are often required to pay certain administration fees which raise tuition costs slightly. If you wish to study at a private institution, the rates tend to be much higher and go up to €10,000 (US$12,000) per year.

There are currently more than 250,000 international students in France. Around 10% of enrollments at French universities are international students, at graduate level (masters and doctoral studies). The country offers an excellent environment for all international students. It has fantastic quality of education, lectures and research opportunities.

The Sorbonne University

Emerging around 1150 as a corporation associated with the cathedral school of Notre Dame de Paris , The Sorbonne University, one of the oldest universities in the world, was created in the 13th century thanks to Louis IX’s request, King Saint Louis the only one French Saint King, to teach theology. It took the name of Sorbonne because of Robert de Sorbon, the king’s confessor and theologian. It is located in the 5th arrondissement, the Latin Quarter, next to Saint Germain. Tips for Student Travelers in Paris

Student Travel:  Student discounts are less common in France than in other countries, simply because young people under 26 are usually offered reduced rates. Some discounts only apply to residents of E.U. countries, who will need to prove this with a passport, ID card, or driver’s license, but if you’re not from the E.U. it’s worth carrying an ID to prove your age and announcing it when buying tickets. Look out for the Ticket Jeunes when using the Métro. It can be used on a Saturday, Sunday, or bank holiday, and provides unlimited travel in zones 1 to 3 for 4€ (see “By Public Transport”). SNCF also offers 25 percent off for under-26-year-olds traveling on national trains ( www.oui.sncf ).

Note : This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.

Picture of Team Niyo

30sec Snapshot

Planning your Parisian adventure? Finding a cozy and affordable place to live is a top priority. This blog unveils everything an Indian student needs to know about securing student accommodation in Paris. We’ll explore different housing options, costs, helpful online portals, and even money-saving tips! Learn from the experiences of fellow Indian students and navigate the Parisian housing market with confidence.

Student Housing in Paris: The Landscape for Indian Students

Unveiling your options: types of student housing in paris.

  • On-campus housing (Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris – CIUP): Budget-friendly dorms with a strong international community. Apply early, as competition is fierce ( https://www.ciup.fr/en/buildings-list/ ).
  • Private student residences: Modern studios or shared apartments with amenities like laundry and internet. These can be more expensive but offer greater flexibility. Check out websites like https://www.studapart.com/en .
  • Shared apartments (colocations): Rent a room in an apartment with other students. This is a great way to experience French culture and save money. Look for listings on https://www.leboncoin.fr/annonces/offres .

How to Find Student Housing in Paris

Finding an apartment can feel overwhelming, but fret not! Utilize these resources:

  • University websites: Many universities have housing assistance offices or online portals listing available accommodations.
  • Online listing portals: Explore websites like https://www.seloger.com/immobilier/ or https://www.facebook.com/pap.fr/?locale=fr_FR for listings from landlords and agencies.
  • Social media groups: Join Facebook groups for Indian students in Paris to connect with potential roommates or find listings.
  • Niyo: Find the best student housing options in New York on Niyo. Niyo’s app is a one-stop solution for all your study abroad needs, including finding accommodation

Cracking the Code: Average Costs of Student Housing

  • On-campus housing: €300-€400 per month (studios can be more expensive).
  • Private residences: €600-€900 per month (depending on location and amenities).
  • Shared apartments: €400-€600 per month (depends on the number of roommates and location).

Saving on Forex: Making Payments for Your Parisian Abode

On-campus vs. off-campus: weighing the pros and cons.

  • Pros: Affordable, social atmosphere, university support nearby.
  • Cons: Limited space, fewer amenities, less local experience.

Off-campus:

  • Pros: More privacy, wider variety of apartments, experience Parisian life.
  • Cons: Potentially more expensive, requires more effort to find, may require a guarantor (someone who vouches for your rent payments).

Documents Required to Rent an Apartment

  • Valid student ID
  • Proof of income/financial resources
  • Passport and visa documents
  • Guarantor documents (if required)

Finding Desi Roommates: Connecting with Indian Students

  • Online forums and groups: Facebook groups like “Indian Students in Paris” can help you connect with potential roommates.
  • University associations: Many universities have Indian student associations that can be a great resource.

Top Areas for Indian Students: Balancing Affordability and Vibe

  • 13th Arrondissement: Affordable, vibrant, with a large student population.
  • 14th Arrondissement: Lively, close to the Cité Universitaire, and offers a mix of housing options.
  • 5th Arrondissement: More central, near prestigious universities but can be expensive.

Safety First: Avoiding Scams While Searching for Housing

  • Never pay any fees before viewing the apartment in person.
  • Beware of rent prices that seem too good to be true.
  • Only use trusted online platforms and verify landlord information.
  • Meet the landlord or agent in person and have a signed rental agreement.

Pre-Arrival vs. Post-Arrival: Booking Your Parisian Nest

  • Booking before arrival: Provides peace of mind but limits your options. Consider temporary housing for the first few weeks.
  • Booking upon arrival: Gives you more flexibility to choose based on personal preferences. However, finding an apartment can be stressful, especially during peak seasons.
