Nickelodeon Cruise: What Happened to the Family-Friendly Cruise?

Nickelodeon Cruise: Taking a family vacation on a cruise is fantastic, and having your kids’ favorite characters on board will make the trip even more enjoyable.

I’m going to talk about the Nickelodeon Cruise today, but you probably already know all about the Disney Cruise Line.

The bad news is that you can no longer book a Nickelodeon cruise with Spongebob and the rest; however, don’t worry, I’ll go over all the best substitutes for the Nickelodeon cruise that are still available in 2024.

Is there a Nickelodeon cruise?

Regretfully, there isn’t currently a Nickelodeon cruise available for you to take in 2023 or 2024. In the past, Nickelodeon collaborated with Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) to offer families the best-themed cruise experience possible, complete with well-known characters like SpongeBob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer.

The Nickelodeon cruises were genuinely unique and appealing to both children and families. A variety of unique onboard experiences were available on these cruises, including live performances, character meet-and-greets, and the recognizable green slime that frequently made an appearance.

Even though Nickelodeon and NCL’s collaboration came to an end in 2015, Nickelodeon might still work with a cruise line in the future.

Is There A Nickelodeon Cruise

This could signal the possible return of the well-liked family cruise that produced a lot of treasured memories in the past.

Are kids free on cruises? How does family cruise pricing work?

You can look into other family-friendly cruises that suit all interests and ages in the interim. They might not have the Nickelodeon theme, but they still provide a range of family-friendly dining establishments, entertainment options, and activities.

In the interim, don’t be afraid to investigate the many alternative family cruise options that can still provide you and your loved ones with an amazing seaside vacation. Keep an eye out for any announcements regarding a Nickelodeon cruise in the future.

How Did Nickelodeon Cruises End?

How Did Nickelodeon Cruises End

In the past, Nickelodeon cruises were a well-liked option for family vacations because they offered special interactions with well-known characters like Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

You may have observed, though, that they are no longer accessible. The dynamics of the cruise business and how partnerships change over time are central to the tale of their disappearance.

When Nickelodeon and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) were officially partnered, they provided entertaining cruises with character interactions, parades, and activities.

Families such as yours would enjoy the company of their favorite Nickelodeon heroes while making lifelong memories.

Sadly, NCL and Nickelodeon’s collaboration ended in 2015, which resulted in the cancellation of the Nickelodeon cruises.

Some cruise lines’ offerings are dated, even though they constantly work to enhance and modify their onboard experiences.

nickelodeon cruise

Even though Nickelodeon cruises were well-liked, cruise lines adapted to changing consumer demands.

Another outcome of this dynamic industry was the demise of Nickelodeon Cruises.

Norwegian Cruise Line saw an opportunity to veer off course and substituted other family-friendly activities for the Nickelodeon cruises.

It can be difficult for a cruise line to choose a new theme or brand.

After ending its Nickelodeon-themed cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line decided to work with DreamWorks, which means that new characters and experiences will be available on board.

You and your family may no longer be able to take Nickelodeon cruises, but there are still lots of other cruise options that are ideal for families with young passengers.

Thus, even though your favorite Nickelodeon characters might not be cruising the high seas any longer, you can be sure that your family will have a ton of fun vacations with a variety of themes and activities.

Choices Besides Nickelodeon Cruises

Norwegian Cruise

There are other options to consider if you’re searching for a family-friendly cruise experience that’s comparable to Nickelodeon cruises.

Norwegian Cruise Line operated Nickelodeon cruises until their partnership ended in 2015. However, be at ease! There are still fantastic options available to you that will help you and your kids make cherished memories.

A great choice for a kids’ themed cruise is Disney Cruise Line. Your children will have a blast participating in age-appropriate activities and getting to meet their favorite Disney characters while on board.

On a Disney cruise, there’s no shortage of family-friendly entertainment, from captivating live performances to themed dining options.

Top Family Cruises: The Ultimate Vacation for All Ages

Adults can also enjoy their own leisure time with a variety of facilities, including lounges and spas.

The DreamWorks Experience at Royal Caribbean is yet another amazing choice. Delightful DreamWorks characters like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and King Julien of Madagascar can be found on some ships.

Character meet-and-greets, parades, live performances, and themed activities are all part of the experience. For younger visitors, it’s an exciting alternative that will make your family vacation genuinely unforgettable.

You might want to think about MSC Cruises if your kids are big LEGO fans. These ships have an amazing kids’ club with a LEGO theme, complete with zones for different age groups.

Your kids will be occupied with activities like building workshops and competitions while you take some well-earned time to unwind. In addition, MSC is renowned for its Mediterranean flair, offering a singular family experience.

For families with children of all ages, these Nickelodeon cruise substitutes offer an excellent combination of entertainment, leisure, and fun.

The Norwegian Cruise Experience with Nickelodeon

Norwegian Cruise Experience with Nickelodeon

Throughout Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon’s collaboration, you would have experienced a family vacation unlike any other.

For the younger guests, it was a unique chance to spend treasured time with their favorite television characters, including Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Envision embarks on a voyage alongside SpongeBob and his companions. They would be roaming the ship when you found them, and you could snap pictures of them to treasure as mementos of your journey.

The whole family would have enjoyed the trip, as these welcoming faces would have welcomed you on your journey.

For younger audiences, the Nickelodeon Norwegian Cruise experience included a range of entertaining shows and events in addition to exciting character interactions and encounters.

You would have loved to see your children clap and laugh during live shows that included your favorite characters, like Dora the Explorer.

The unique themed water parks on board the Nickelodeon cruise added even more excitement.

Imagine your children enjoying themselves in a SpongeBob-themed water play area with all of their favorite superheroes!

These amusement parks gave young cruisers the chance to indulge in their passion for Nickelodeon and experience the excitement of aquatic pursuits.

Unfortunately, though, it’s crucial to note that Nickelodeon cruises are no longer available as of 2019. 2015 saw the end of Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon’s collaboration.

Having said that, you ought to look into alternative family-friendly cruise options that will delight and amuse your children.

Nevertheless, for many families who had the opportunity to sail with their favorite characters, the Nickelodeon Norwegian Cruise experience is still a sentimental and treasured memory.

How to Book a Nickelodeon Cruise

We love family cruises and we love Nickelodeon family programming. When you put these two together, you get Nickelodeon at Sea, a chance for families and fans to get a bit of the Nickelodeon action that they can enjoy together. A Nick cruise is a family cruise that offers activities and entertainment for all ages year round on the Norwegian Jewel and the Norwegian Epic. Some of the activities include:

  • Play interactive games by the pool during Nick Live Poolside!
  • Dance and sing during Dora’s Music Party.
  • You can even hang out and eat with SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and more during the Breakfast with Nickelodeon*.

We want the Nickelodeon Full Access cruise:

There are two special sailings that are all Nickelodeon all the time. The first Nick Cruise vacation will set sail from New York on February 20, 2011 with a 7 day itinerary that includes stops near Orlando theme parks, NASA’s Port Canaveral, and Atlantis Casino’s Lost World waterpark in the Bahamas. The second Nick cruise vacation will set sail from Barcelona on July 24 , 2011 with a 7 day itinerary that includes stops near the ruin of Pompeii, the island of Majorca, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

When are the Nickelodeon All Access Cruise activities?

On sea days and in the evenings the shipboard activities will include so many fun activities, including:

  • Meet Jennette McCurdy from Nickelodeon’s #1 live action show iCarly aboard Norwegian Jewel’s February 20th sailing. Or, you can meet Jennette McCurdy  and Nathan Kress aboard Norwegian Epic’s July 24th sailing!**
  • Watch never-before-seen episodes of hit TV shows like iCarly, Victorious, SpongeBob SquarePants and more.
  • Meet all your favorite Nickelodeon characters!
  • Everyone in your family can get SLIMED! The ultimate Nickelodeon honor.
  • Have Breakfast with Nickelodeon characters everyday of your cruise.
  • Plus, plenty of additional surprises.

Just announced: You’ll get the chance to meet the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, and the voice of Patrick, Bill Fagerbakke, on the February All Access Cruise aboard Norwegian Jewel. Tom Kenny will also be on Norwegian Epic’s July All Access Cruise.**

We’ve been getting tons of emails from readers asking about the dates of the Nickelodeon family cruise and asking how to book their Nick cruise vacation. If you aren’t comfortable booking your family cruise online, get in touch with a cruise specialist or travel agent in your city. If you are comfortable booking your Nick cruise online, then check out our link to the NCL official page to  book a Nick cruise .

Nickelodeon Family Cruise Trips Launch in Los Angeles

Posted By: LesliPeterson

Next summer is going to offer something great for families; two new Nickelodeon cruise vacations on massive, classy, 4-star Royal Caribbean cruise ships. My children love Nickelodeon, and when I let them watch TV (who am I kidding, this means almost every evening), they usually choose to watch kiddie fare like iCarly, Drake and Josh, and Spongebob Squarepants. A Nickelodeon cruise trip sounds like a perfect way to spend a family vacation at sea.

Mariner of the Seas, Voyager Class Cruise Ship

Mariner of the Seas, Voyager Class Cruise Ship

We have never been on a cruise before, unless kayaking around the Long Island Sound counts (it doesn’t) .  So when Nickelodeon and Royal Caribbean offered a 2-day, one-night mini-vacation, it seemed like an offer we couldn’t refuse.

It’s an easy drive from West LA to the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, and when we pulled into the parking lot, my daughters asked if the massively huge ship we saw docked was ours. No way, I answered, that’s too big a boat.

Turns out I was wrong! The Mariner of the Sea is a Voyager class ship, over 1,000 feet long with 15 passenger decks and a capacity of 3,835 guests and over a thousand crew. Wow. It’s the size of a town!

When it’s not hosting a Nick Cruise, the Mariner of the Seas still has a child-friendly deck with rock-climbing, mini golf, 3 pools, a basketball court, a video arcade and many more fun activities.

My kids were shocked speechless – and I though they were going to pass out when they realized that all-inclusive meant they could have all the food they wanted. We all overindulged.

Kids Meet Spongebob on a Nick Cruise

Kids Meet Spongebob on a Nick Cruise

But the highlight was beyond a doubt the Nickelodeon portion of the cruise. My kids met “Spongebob,” but it was two of the stars of the Nick show iCarly that got them really excited. Jennette McCurdy, who plays Sam on iCarly, was friendly and sociable.

My 9-year old was a little shy, but when Jennette learned that they are both brown belts in karate. She and my daughter had a conversation about the different schools of the martial arts (Jennette McCurdy is a brown belt in Uechi Ryu, and my kid’s a brown belt in Yoshukai karate).

My younger daughter had a long talk with another actor on iCarly, Nathan Kress . What a good sport he was, answering a 7-year old’s questions! (Example: “How do you like having adoring fans?” This, said adoringly.)

Both Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress hung with the group for a couple hours, touring the Mariner of the Seas , trying rock climbing and basketball, and generally being terrific guests.

iCarly Stars Play Mini-Golf

iCarly Stars Play Mini-Golf

After Nathan Kress and Jennette McCurdy left – they’re teens, they have to go to school sometime – the Mariner of the Seas was no longer a Nickelodeon cruise, but more of an adult overnight vacation.

I didn’t see any other children on the ship. My kids had to do a little of everything, so we went on the rock climbing wall, had some (more) to eat, saw an ice show at the ice skating rink, laughed a lot, and acted silly.

We had a wonderful time, and it ended too soon: I had to keep them in our room after dinner, as the other 2,000 or so cruise ship travelers were getting pretty drunk.

That all-inclusive includes drinks! Some people so inebriated, they clearly were past the point of having fun. I thought it would be best to shield my kids from all that.

Suffice it to say, a regular, week-long Nick cruise will not be filled with totally drunk adults. It surely will be full of families with children and young teens, and oriented towards a youthful Nickelodeon-themed vacation.

The Mariner of the Seas, as partnered with Nickelodeon, will leave the Port of Los Angeles on July 26, and round-trip travel to the Mexican Riviera. Another cruise on the Freedom of the Seas leaves Florida for the Eastern Caribbean on August 9.

For children and young teens that enjoy Nick televisions shows – and c’mon, who hasn’t watched Spongebob? – these cruises sound like a terrific way to spend a summer family vacation together.

Right before we disembarked the next morning I asked my kids what they thought of their first cruise travel experience. Did they like it? Their answers speak for themselves.

Pin for later!

Nickelodeon Experiences for Traveling Families

Vacation experiences from the popular cartoon network

Looking for a Nickelodeon experience on your next family vacation? The popular children's TV cable network has partnered with several hotels, resorts, and cruise lines to create Nickelodeon experiences for vacationing families in North America and the Caribbean.

One of the most globally recognized entertainment brands for kids and family, Nickelodeon has built a global following by putting kids at the center of everything it does. The company’s portfolio includes TV programming and production around the world, plus special events, recreation, books, feature films and more.

Since 1999, Nickelodeon has brought its themed entertainment to the travel arena.

The Original Nick Hotel

The first venture was the original Nick Hotel, also known as the  Nickelodeon Suites Resort  in Orlando. The resort opened in 1999 and proved wildly popular with families for years. It featured two on-site waterparks, and non-stop games and entertainment programmed by Nickelodeon, including:

  • character breakfasts with Sponge-Bob, Dora the Explorer and other Nick characters
  • poolside TV show-style games
  • the chance to get a pie in the face or be "slimed," the ultimate honor
  • nightly entertainment in special theater Studio Nick, with lots of guest participation

In summer 2016, the Nick Hotel slimed guests for the last time and was sold. It is now the Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites and Waterpark.

Nickelodeon Getaway are no longer offered at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort and Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort outside of Phoenix. These packages were offered on select weekends and holiday periods.

Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott

Nickelodeon's parent company, Viacom, and Marriott International were in talks for several years to develop a Nickelodeon-themed multi-resort chain, but it never came to be. Notably, there was to have been a much-hyped 650-room Nickelodeon Resort in San Diego that never materialized. Other resorts were to be located not only in the US, but also in Caribbean, Mexico, and beyond.

Is There A Nickelodeon Cruise?! (Best Family Cruises!)

Remember the amazing character meet-and-greets, live shows, and slime parties offered on Nickelodeon cruises?

These Nickelodeon-themed experiences were incredibly popular among families with small kids.

From the interactive game show to the themed dining events, the entire cruise was an experience.

Unfortunately, the partnership between Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon ended in 2015, and there are currently no Nickelodeon-themed cruises being offered in 2023 or 2024.

So we only have our nostalgia and the fond memories.

But that doesn’t mean these cruises are gone forever…

Table of Contents

Is There A Nickelodeon Cruise?

Unfortunately, as of now, there isn’t a Nickelodeon cruise for you to embark on in 2023 or 2024. In the past, Nickelodeon partnered with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and even Royal Caribbean to bring families the ultimate themed cruise experience, featuring beloved characters like SpongeBob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer.

The Nickelodeon cruises were truly something special for families and kids alike. These cruises offered a range of unique on-board experiences, such as live performances, meet-and-greets with your favorite characters, and the iconic green slime that often made an appearance.

Although the partnership between Nickelodeon and NCL ended in 2015, there’s always a possibility that Nickelodeon might team up with a cruise line in the future.

This could mean a potential return of the popular family cruise that once made many unforgettable memories.

In the meantime, you can explore other family-friendly cruises that cater to all ages and interests. While they may not have the Nickelodeon theme, they still offer a variety of entertainment options, dining venues, and activities tailored to families with children.

Keep an eye out for any future announcements of a Nickelodeon cruise, but until then, don’t hesitate to explore the numerous other family cruise options that can still provide you and your loved ones with an unforgettable vacation at sea.

Spongebob : Nickelodeon Cruise

What Happened To Nickelodeon Cruises?

Nickelodeon cruises were once a popular family vacation choice, as they provided unique experiences with beloved characters such as Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

However, you might have noticed that they are no longer available. The story behind their disappearance involves the dynamics of the cruise industry and how partnerships evolve over time.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) used to be the official partner of Nickelodeon, and together they offered fun-filled cruises featuring activities, parades, and character interactions.

Families like yours would create lifelong memories while enjoying the company of their favorite Nickelodeon heroes.

Unfortunately, the NCL-Nickelodeon partnership came to an end in 2015, leading to the discontinuation of the Nickelodeon cruises.

As cruise lines continually strive to improve and adapt their onboard experiences, some offerings don’t stand the test of time.

While Nickelodeon cruises might have been popular, the market demands change, and cruise lines react accordingly.

The end of the Nickelodeon cruises was yet another result of this ever-changing industry.

Norwegian Cruise Line recognized an opportunity to change course and replaced the Nickelodeon cruises with other family-oriented activities.

Deciding on a new theme or brand replacement can be a challenge for a cruise company.

With the cessation of Nickelodeon-themed cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line has since opted to collaborate with DreamWorks, bringing new characters and experiences on board.

While the Nickelodeon cruises might no longer be available for you and your family, there are still plenty of other cruise options tailored to families and children.

So, even though the beloved characters of Nickelodeon may not be sailing the high seas anymore, rest assured that many memorable family vacations await you with different themes and activities.

Spongebob : Meet-and-Greet

Alternatives To Nickelodeon Cruises

If you’re looking for a family-friendly cruise experience similar to Nickelodeon cruises, there are other options you can explore.

Nickelodeon cruises were offered by Norwegian Cruise Line until 2015 when the partnership ended. But don’t worry! You still have amazing alternatives that will create lasting memories for you and your children.

Disney Cruise Line is an excellent option for a children’s themed cruise. Your kids will love meeting their favorite Disney characters onboard and enjoy fun-filled activities tailored for different age groups.

From magical live shows to themed dining experiences, you’ll find plenty of entertainment for the entire family on a Disney cruise.

Moreover, adults can indulge in their own relaxation with various amenities available, such as spas and lounges.

Another fantastic option is Royal Caribbean’s DreamWorks Experience . On selected ships, you can find delightful DreamWorks characters like Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar’s King Julien.

The experience includes meet-and-greets with characters, themed activities, parades, and live shows. It’s an exciting alternative for young guests, making your family vacation truly memorable.

If your children are LEGO lovers, you might consider MSC Cruises . These ships offer an impressive LEGO-themed kids’ club with different areas catering to various age groups.

From building workshops to competitions, your kids will be entertained while you enjoy some well-deserved relaxation time. Plus, MSC is known for their Mediterranean flair, providing a unique experience for the whole family.

These alternatives to Nickelodeon cruises promise a great mix of fun, entertainment, and relaxation for families and kids of all ages.

Nickelodeon Norwegian Cruise Experience

Norwegian Epic

During the partnership between Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon, you would have had a one-of-a-kind family vacation experience.

It was a special opportunity for young guests to enjoy unforgettable moments with their favorite TV characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and more.

Imagine getting to sail along with SpongeBob and his friends. You’d find them roaming the ship and you could take photos with them to keep as cherished memories from your trip.

These friendly faces would have greeted you on your voyage, making it an enjoyable journey for the whole family.

In addition to the exciting character interactions and encounters, the Nickelodeon Norwegian Cruise experience offered a variety of engaging shows and events tailored for the younger audience.

You would have enjoyed watching your kids laugh and clap during live performances featuring Dora the Explorer and other beloved characters.

What made the Nickelodeon cruise even more exciting was the special themed water parks available onboard.

Picture your children splashing around with their favorite heroes in a SpongeBob-inspired water play area!

These parks allowed young cruisers to soak up the fun and enjoy themselves while combining their love for Nickelodeon with the thrill of water activities.

But, alas, it’s important to mention that as of 2019, Nickelodeon cruises are no longer offered. The partnership between Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon had ended in 2015.

That said, you should explore other options for family-friendly cruises that provide entertainment and enjoyment for your little ones.

Nonetheless, the Nickelodeon Norwegian Cruise experience remains a nostalgic and cherished memory for many families who had the chance to sail with their favorite characters.

Nickelodeon Family Cruise with Royal Caribbean

  • May 8, 2008

Nickelodeon has assembled seven days of non-stop fun and activities for its first-ever Nickelodeon Family Cruise with Royal Caribbean, which sets sail August 10-17, on Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas.  Vacationers will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including: a kick-off sail away party; evening shows, a Nick Live Poolside! interactive game show; special screenings of The Naked Brothers Band and SpongeBob SquarePants; Nick Karaoke; and character meet-and-greets with Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob, among others.  Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to attend autograph signings and meet-and-greets with Nick celebrities including SpongeBob SquarePant’s Tom Kenny and iCarly stars Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress.

“It’s only natural that SpongeBob would headline this cruise since he’s most at home at sea,” said Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants.  “What better place for SpongeBob to meet his fans than cruising the beautiful blue ocean waters. He’ll feel right at home!”

Families setting sail on the Nickelodeon Family Cruise by Royal Caribbean will kick off their experience with an evening of live music and dancing at the sail away party, followed by the evening “big show” with live performances and an aerial act that will have kids on the edge of their seats.

The Nickelodeon cruise will offer family-friendly amenities and a packed schedule of fun-filled branded activities like:

Nickelodeon character breakfasts: Families can start off their day with a hearty breakfast and a special visit with their favorite Nick characters like: SpongeBob SquarePants; Dora the Explorer; The Backyardigans; Jimmy Neutron; and Diego.

Slime Time Live!: Both kids and parents can experience Nickelodeon’s trademark green slime at Studio Nick during this interactive game show, with the ultimate goal of getting slimed.

Nick screenings: Each day families can catch a special screening of kids’ favorite Nickelodeon shows like: SpongeBob SquarePants; The Fairly OddParents; The Naked Brothers Band; and more.

Nick Live Poolside!: At the pool each day there will be a Nick-themed interactive game show providing family enjoyment in the sun.

Let’s Just Play Family Beach Day: On the sixth day of the cruise, families will have the option to disembark on the private island of Labadee where they can enjoy a day on the shore as part of Nick’s Let’s Just Play Family Beach Day, featuring freestyle beach games with a Nickelodeon twist.

Throughout the week, cruisers will have the opportunity to interact with Nickelodeon personalities.  Kenny will host a screening of a brand new SpongeBob SquarePants episode as well as a voiceover workshop to teach kids how to sound just like their favorite porous pal: SpongeBob.  McCurdy and Kress will host a special screening of a never-before-seen episode of iCarly and will serve as judges for an iCarly-themed Nick Karaoke contest.

The Nickelodeon Family Cruise on Freedom of the Seas also includes a full range of onboard activities and amenities appealing to adults and children of all ages. During the day, guests can rejuvenate with a session in the Freedom Day Spa and state-of-the-art fitness center, and relax in the cantilevered whirlpools in the adults-only Solarium. In the evenings, guests can enjoy live music and entertainment in several bars and lounges, a Broadway-style performance in the Arcadia Theater, or try their luck in the Casino Royale. In addition, Freedom of the Seas provides its award-winning Adventure Ocean kids programming to entertain toddlers to teens while parents enjoy the on-board activities.

Vacationers on the Nickelodeon Family Cruise by Royal Caribbean will visit four tropical Western Caribbean destinations including: Cozumel; Mexico; George Town; Grand Cayman; Ocho Rios; Jamaica; and a special stop at Royal Caribbean’s private beach destination, Labadee.  Vacation packages for the cruise are currently on-sale.  Visit www.nickfamilycruise.com for more information.

what ship is it?

I just clicked on "Ship Facts" and it appears to be Freedom OTS.

I agree Webnut, a bit pricey.

It's on the Freedom of the seas.

OMG my oldest is freaking out right now. I'll have to check it out.

Just looked and it IS really pricey. It would cost us $6,000 for what normally would cost us $4,000.

I wonder if the ship will sell out. I wonder if they will drop the prices?

That would be interesting to see. I looked on the RCI pages and could not find this cruise so I wonder if we will ever know?

msmayor

Wow. While I know pricing would be different anyway because we're sailing in November, I booked TWO Promenade rooms for my family of four for the same $3k it costs for one Promenade room for two.

500+ Club

Wow!! Those prices are steep! A Royal Family Suite for 4 is $10,000 more than we are paying for our RFS for our family 5 in December on the LIberty of the Seas. For those prices, Dora and SpongeBob better be staying in the room with us.;)

And my family of 5 would pay $4K more then a family of 6 since it doesn't list any optons other then balcony connecting for us.

I do think though this cruise is one we'd rather not be on!

And notice that they say 'Royal Caribbean's Private Island Destination', instead of saying Labadee, Haiti.

Wonder Why?!?

Note to self:

Book the week following this cruise :D

something is NOT right...

I am booked on the FREEDOM for Aug. 9th-17 2008

and it is the EASTERN route.

gee this is just great.. I am on hold right now

with an agent

from RCI.. nickelodeon has CHARTERED the

entire boat out for the week of Aug 10-17. RCI has NO idea what to do

with us, since we already have a room assignment

AND $1000 deposit. NO body has contacted us

with this change. NICE.

look on their website, the week is not even listed

INTERESTING.

I will keep you all informed.

Isnt it amazing what one finds out on here??? Jeez!! Good luck!

Ula

Please keep us posted in regards to this. Personally if the ship is going to chartered, one would think people that have already booked and are facing a change due to the fact would be notified before it hits an internet site.

HOLY COW!!!!!!

Hope everything works out for you!!! Yes, please keep us posted!!

I know Jeanne, I said the same thing to the RCI agent

at the resolution desk. He told me HE was not even

informed the ship has been chartered. It just appeared

on his screen, when I asked. He also told me only 41 people

were booked on that sailing, so thats why they

chartered it. I said this is UNFAIR. I have

a deposit and a room assignment. Good thing I

didnt book airfare and hotel. I have been looking

though. The agent told me we HAVE to move to

another ship/sailing. We have 9 people and 3 rooms

booked. The other families are going to be MAD.

I am really PO ed I read this on CC first and RCI

did NOT contact us.

I have sailed 6x with Carnival and never had

anything like this happen.

I cannot believe that the 41 families were bumped off FOS because of the NICK charter and then, were not even contacted about IT....that is HORRIBLE!!!!!! I am very disappointed in RCCI!

school has already started here in ATL, so even if DS was younger, and even if the cruise was not priced so high that I would need to sell a kidney on the black market to afford it, we could not go.

have fun for those who do--I know the nick suites in Orlando is very popular, too.

rosebud1g: Gosh, that really stinks. We've been lucky that it's never happened to us (at least, not yet). I have to mention that all the cruise lines do this from time to time. They've got it right in the contracts and literature that they can bump pax off for a charter at any time. Fortunately, you've not had it happen on any previous cruise. That it has happened on your first RCI cruise is bound to give you a less than happy impression of RCI. They really handled this poorly.

What I think is absolutely wrong on the part of RCI is that you and the other pax weren't notified immediately once the charter was finalized. You should have been notified and (IMO, not what the cruise line has to do, just what I think they should do) given a choice of moving to a different ship for that week in the same category for the same price you paid originally (if the new ship's fares were higher) or a lower rate if that applies OR given a chance to rebook a different week (again with the same fare or lower, if applicable). Plus, a small OBC for the inconvenience. The truth is that all the cruise line has to do is give you your money back; I think they should do more for the customer relations factor alone.

Because it's so far out, you do at least have some time to find an alternate cruise. Even so, you should not have had to contact them and say, "Hello? I'm a member of Cruise Critic and found out my cruise has been chartered out from under me!" I'd be truly ticked about it. I hope you're able to work out something with the cruise line for a different ship or different week (if your schedule allows you to) and that they acknowledge that they blew it in this case.

funfamilyfun

Why do you think they priced it so much higher? Do you think there would be that many Nickolodean events? That week in August is when we went last year and saved money! I would be very upset if I had already booked that cruise and then I was bumped.

I'm a family with three grand's booked and and inside booked total 14 people. I'm not happy. They did not even contact us yet. I

want eastern not western .

Enjoy a Nickelodeon Cruise With Your Family

By Space Coast Daily  //  January 5, 2022

nickelodeon family cruise

If you’re looking for a fun and memorable vacation with your family, a Nickelodeon Cruise is a perfect choice. These ships leave from Cozumel, Mexico and St. Maarten, and offer cabins decorated with bright colors and entertainment options designed to keep kids entertained for hours.

There are also special games and events hosted by the Nickelodeon Crew, which you’ll love. Whether you’re traveling with kids or parents, there’s something for everyone on the ship.

A Nickelodeon cruise is designed with families in mind, so you can expect to see lots of shows geared toward children. Activities on the ship include games and character breakfasts. During the week, guests can participate in a variety of themed events, including live Nickelodeon-themed games and contests. The kids will be thrilled to participate in activities, such as the karaoke contest and slime time live!

You can also plan to board the ship a day or two before the trip, as there may be changes to the schedule. Arrive a day or so before the departure date to avoid last-minute rushes. If you’re flying in, check the cruise message boards for updates on the schedule. You can always contact the travel agency or make an appointment for a pre-cruise talk or a family reunion.

A Nickelodeon Cruise will give you a chance to see your favorite cartoon characters. The ship’s pool deck will host Nick Live, where contests and challenges will keep the kids busy. There will be Dora sing-alongs and Bikini Bashes, and you can also attend a voiceover workshop to learn how to sound like SpongeBob. During the day, McCurdy and Kress will host special episodes of iCarly, and they will serve as judges for the Nick Karaoke competition.

The Nickelodeon Family Cruise by Royal Caribbean also includes Nick Live on the pool deck. The kids can watch the latest episodes of their favorite shows and participate in a scavenger hunt.

In addition to the shows and events, there are also special activities and entertainment. During the weeklong festivities, the children will enjoy the “big show” every night, which features live performances and a special iCarly episode. The kids will also be able to participate in a fun karaoke competition.

The 2009 Nickelodeon Family Cruises will depart from both the east and west coasts. The Mariner of the Seas will sail to exotic Mexican Rivera, while the Freedom of the Seas will visit the Virgin Islands and CocoCay. In addition, the iCarly cruise will have its own Nick Live stage. The entertainment will be high-quality, with many unique appearances. Throughout the week, the crew will be at the pool deck, as well as on board.

Among the fun activities on a Nickelodeon Cruise are the themed activities for kids. The entertainment will feature the newest episode of the popular cartoon on the ship and the best episodes of the hit series.

During the week, they’ll also have the opportunity to participate in various contests and challenges. In addition to the onboard shows, kids can also enjoy karaoke nights and special episodes. There are even scavenger hunts organized by the Nickelodeon channel.

During the Nickelodeon Week, the cruise line will host a variety of activities for children. There will be a special screening of the SpongeBob SquarePants series with Kenny and Cress.

A special iCarly episode will also be shown. A Nick Karaoke contest will be held for kids to showcase their skills in singing. The cruise will end with a special celebration.

A Nickelodeon cruise is a fun and exciting vacation for children. There are activities for children to enjoy such as slime, special viewings of Nickelodeon TV shows, and a breakfast with the characters of the kids’ favorite shows. Taking your kids on a Nickelodeon Cruise will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

However, you need to be sure you can take care of yourself while on the trip. You’ll need extra clothing and motion sickness medication, as well as the appropriate motion sickness medications.

For an exciting morning, make sure you plan ahead. You can always catch an action-packed Nick Live episode on the pool deck. At the pool deck, the Nickelodeon team will host karaoke competitions and game shows for kids, as well as other activities that keep children entertained. The kids will also love the activities organized for adults. If you want to make the most of your cruise, make sure to book early.

Are There Any Nickelodeon Cruises in 2023?

nicolodean cruises

When it comes to iconic entertainment brands for children, Nickelodeon stands out as a trailblazer. From memorable shows like “ SpongeBob SquarePants ” to “ Dora the Explorer ,” Nickelodeon has been a household name for generations.

But did you know that this powerhouse also dipped its toes into the cruise industry? That’s right, Nickelodeon Cruises were a real thing – a sea-bound extravaganza where you could hang out with SpongeBob or share pancakes with Dora.

Now, you might be wondering, ‘Are these cruises still a thing?’ Well, let’s dive into the story of Nickelodeon Cruises. We’re about to unravel the tale of this fascinating journey – its highs, its lows, and everything in between.

How Did Nickelodeon Cruises Begin?

Back in 2010, a groundbreaking collaboration between Nickelodeon and Norwegian Cruise Line set the cruise industry abuzz. This venture promised not just a cruise but a full-fledged Nickelodeon experience at sea. For those of you who fondly remember the days of waking up to “Slime Time Live,” this was the cruise of your dreams.

The inaugural journey of this thrilling partnership paved the way for the Norwegian Breakaway , which was the latest addition to Norwegian’s fleet at that point. This venture was so successful that it soon expanded across multiple NCL ships including the Norwegian Epic , Norwegian Gem , Norwegian Jewel , and Norwegian Getaway .

The Norwegian Getaway , another newest ship in the fleet during its time, made headlines in 2014 when it added even more Nickelodeon experiences to its offerings. From shows starring Nickelodeon celebrities to engaging with characters from popular shows like iCarly and True Jackson VP, the Getaway was the fifth ship to make waves with Nickelodeon’s unique brand of entertainment.

Did you ever wish you could attend a character meet and greet with the cast of your favorite Nickelodeon shows? This was a reality on the Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Epic during their special all-access cruises, which offered non-stop daily activities featuring all of Nickelodeon’s popular characters.

Is the Nickelodeon-Themed Cruise Currently Operational?

Unfortunately, these themed voyages have been docked indefinitely as of 2015 . What led to the discontinuation of these incredibly popular trips? Let’s explore this in the next section.

What Happened to Nickelodeon Cruises?

For Nickelodeon lovers, these cruises were more than just a vacation; they were the epitome of childhood dreams come true. But as with all good things, this chapter in cruise line history had to end. The official collaboration between Nickelodeon’s parent company, Viacom, and Norwegian Cruise Line ceased operations after a successful 5-year run. Though the cruise line did experience a 20% increase in guest satisfaction, particularly concerning its youth programming, the deal was not renewed , and Nickelodeon’s unforgettable splash of color soon faded from Norwegian’s ships.

During their time, these cruises offered families a range of exciting activities, including character meet and greets and the famed Slime Time Live , a crowd-pleaser where passengers could get slimed during interactive, high-paced games. Even Pajama Jam Breakfasts were part of the package, adding a special touch to morning dining experiences.

While the reason for the discontinuation has never been publicly disclosed, the end of the cruise line was not due to a lack of interest or customer dissatisfaction . On the contrary, passengers were enamored with the special features, from Dancing with Dora to the numerous Nickelodeon-themed experiences that kept kids and adults alike entertained throughout the voyage.

What we do know is that around the same time as the end of the cruise line, Nickelodeon announced a new partnership with Karisma Hotel and Resorts . This new venture aimed to create modern resorts in the Caribbean, including an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. It appears that Nickelodeon was eager to sail in a different direction, shifting its focus from the high seas to terra firma.

Comparing Nickelodeon Cruises to Other Themed Cruises

When it comes to themed cruises, Nickelodeon Cruises had a particular charm that attracted families in droves. Compared to its closest rival, Disney Cruise Line , Nickelodeon offered a unique blend of its TV show characters, such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. Disney Cruises , with prices often starting around $700 per person, brings to life its classic characters like Mickey Mouse and Disney Princesses but can be more expensive than the Nickelodeon Cruises which generally starts at a lower price point, around $500 per person.

Carnival Cruise Line also offers themed cruises like Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast.” Carnival’s rates are often cheaper, starting at around $400 per person, but their character interactions are not as frequent as Nickelodeon’s.

Royal Caribbean Cruises is another competitor, offering DreamWorks-themed cruises featuring characters from “Kung Fu Panda” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” Prices vary but can start around $600 per person. However, they don’t offer the same level of interactive game shows and character meet and greets that made Nickelodeon Cruises special.

While each cruise line has its perks, Nickelodeon Cruises excelled in creating a non-stop, immersive world, where the line between TV shows and reality is delightfully blurred.

Does Norwegian Cruise Line Continue to Provide Children’s Activities Onboard?

Absolutely, Norwegian Cruise Line hasn’t slowed down in offering a variety of children’s activities onboard, even though the Nickelodeon cruises have ended. Nowadays, Norwegian offers a variety of youth programs designed for various age brackets, guaranteeing an enjoyable vacation for both young children and teenagers.

From splash parks to interactive games and scavenger hunts, Norwegian keeps the excitement levels high. And it’s not just confined to the Norwegian Getaway or the Norwegian Epic ; the entire fleet is designed to entertain the younger crowd.

They’ve even introduced specialized activities in collaboration with other brands, such as circus workshops  and escape rooms . So while the Nickelodeon-themed experiences are no longer available, the cruise line continues to focus on family-friendly fun.

Alternative Options to Nickelodeon Cruises

Missing the Nickelodeon-themed cruises? Don’t fret; there are still numerous ways to satisfy your craving for Nick entertainment and relish family-friendly vacations at other destinations. These alternatives not only offer a rich experience but also bring a diverse range of themes and characters that can appeal to every member of the family.

Nickelodeon Hotel and Resorts

With luxury resorts in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, these locations offer more than just beachfront views. Character meet and greets, lavish water parks, and the Club Nick Kids Club provide a haven for families. Adults aren’t overlooked either; they can relax at the spa while their kids are kept entertained.

Nickelodeon Theme Parks

Kids showered in slime in a theme park

Various locations, such as Universal Studios Florida and Nickelodeon Universe in Minnesota and New Jersey, offer immersive Nickelodeon experiences. For those in the UK, there’s Nickelodeon Land at Blackpool Pleasure Beach featuring unique rides and character appearances.

Peppa Pig on Costa Cruises

For those whose homes resonate with Peppa Pig’s laughter, Costa Cruises offers a delightful Peppa Pig-themed experience. The highlight is an on-deck swimming pool modeled after Grandpa Pig’s boat. The cruise also includes engaging activities like coloring, puzzles, and treasure hunts. The nighttime disco transforms into Peppa’s Pirate Party, making for an unforgettable experience for little fans.

Royal Caribbean

One of the most well-known names in cruising, the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line , also packs a punch when it comes to family-friendly activities. The Adventure Ocean Youth Program offers targeted fun for kids aged 3-17. Among the attractions is Splashaway Bay, a water park with water slides, fountains, and pool activities.

Their Aquanauts program melds education with excitement, offering special fun experiments, adventure science, and storytime for kids aged 3-5. Teenagers aren’t left out; the Fuel Teen Club allows them to groove to DJ music, and unique game courts are designed for them to compete and connect.

Disney Cruise Line

If it’s character-themed cruises you’re after, Disney provides a magical sea voyage featuring characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Live shows and themed parties make it a close competitor to the former Nickelodeon Cruises.

Seuss at Sea on Carnival Cruises

The Carnival Cruise Line takes you to the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss. A unique breakfast event called the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast features zany table settings and a fun menu. Families can also partake in a character parade, interactive storytelling, and colorful arts and crafts activities, making for a Seussical journey on the high seas.

P&O Cruises with Aardman Animation

Elevating family entertainment on the high seas, P&O Cruises has partnered with Aardman Animation. Kids are welcomed onboard with dance sessions featuring Wallace and Gromit. Creative souls can tap into their artistic flair during clay workshops, creating their Aardman characters.

Special storytelling sessions and themed arts and crafts activities like making Gromit ears and character masks add extra charm to this cruising experience.

Other Cruise Ships That Don’t Exist Anymore

Over the years, the cruising industry has seen numerous partnerships come and go. Carnival Cruise Line once enhanced the onboard experience with small amenity baskets featuring sample-sized toiletries in bathroom cabins, a luxury phased out in the early 2010s. Hasbro teamed up with Carnival to introduce “ Hasbro, the Game Show ,” a short-lived but captivating onboard entertainment feature. Celebrity Cruises had a wellness-focused collaboration with Canyon Ranch SpaClub, which ended after five years.

Cunard Line broke new ground with a restaurant by celebrity chef Todd English, which was eventually replaced. Holland America Line had culinary ventures with America’s Test Kitchen and even teamed up with Oprah Winfrey for themed voyages. MSC Cruises once staged Cirque du Soleil performances and had an Eataly-branded restaurant lineup. Norwegian Cruise Line once featured ‘Kinky Boots ,’ ‘Legally Blonde,’ and ‘ Rock of Ages’ as part of its onboard entertainment. They even had Nickelodeon characters meet and greet with kids.

From Princess Cruises’ partnership with chocolatier Norman Love to Seabourn Cruise Line’s decade-long collaboration with Charlie Palmer , such arrangements have added a dash of extra allure to sea voyages but were eventually discontinued. These past ventures showcase the cruise industry’s continuous evolution in pursuit of delivering unforgettable experiences to passengers.

In conclusion, the cruise industry has seen a multitude of innovative partnerships over the years, ranging from collaborations with toy companies like Hasbro to luxurious spa experiences with Canyon Ranch. These alliances have not only elevated the cruising experience but have also defined distinct eras for cruise-goers.

One such defining partnership was between Norwegian Cruise Line and Nickelodeon, which transformed family cruises into immersive experiences featuring beloved characters and activities. Though many of these partnerships have been phased out, their impact lives on, leaving an indelible imprint on the cruise industry and the memories of travelers.
