After the magnificent, COTN and LIU, musically the band was smashing it out of the park ( really thanks to Vinnie songwriting) and if Vinnie had stayed around for another album, so many of those great song off Invasion would have fitted perfect in the Kiss catalogue. Back on the Streets, Shoot u full of love, No Substitute,Twisted, Invasion…..so many times I have imagined Paul singing those songs.

I hate Murder In High Heels and don't like Burn Bitch Burn, but the remaining tracks (Get All You Can Take, Lonely Is The Hunter) are fairly good. Great tour, too. I love that stage set - a huge playground for them to run around on, and it looked cool.

I didn’t want to admit it to myself, cause I was so much into the band and proudly wore my rose tinted glasses, but deep down I thought that the album is complete shit. I only liked HOF and Thrills, the rest was either meh or unlistenable (Gene’s „songs“). I also hated the sound of the album and Mark‘s shrill guitar playing. It was all wrong for me…and still is. The tour was great, tho. I saw one show and had the time of my life. The opening band was also great. I remember that the following Monday I went to my local record store and bought the Bon Jovi album.

They changed guitar player every week, Gene looked lost, the outfits were silly - I'm sorry but the magic was gone. Listening to it today, I realize it's not that bad, but I still won't give it more than 3 out of 5.

I know some hate the ANIMALIZE LP & it does have some duds but for me personally during Mid 1980's KISS was in the Rock Mags and although I was not aloud to attend the "KISS/Queensryche" Animalize Tour in February 1985 in Vancouver BC Canada (Parents said I was too young, ASYLUM Tour didn't come to Vancouver so had to wait until CRAZY NIGHTS Tour with ANTHRAX "Among The Living Tour" for my 1st Concert ever) it was the 1st Tour KISS played Vancouver since 1979 DYNASTY Tour. I don't know about other KISS FAQers but did you notice there was more KISS on Radio/Memorabilia @ the time??? For those who saw the ANIMALZIE Tour (Besides some of Paul's cringe banter) how was your experience seeing the shows (when/where) and did you notice KISS on radio etc.

The European staging (seen here in picture 1), was basically the Unmasked stage, painted like animal skin (leopard spots and tiger stripes). Picture 1 is from the German part of the tour, as the band is using the German logo!

Animalize became very successful in America, and a much larger stage set was designed for the American leg of the tour. The set (seen in picture 4) had two large ramps (marked (a)), and a big platform (marked (b)) that would do different things during the show! The band also returned to using various pyrotechnical effects!

84f.jpg (20235 Byte)

Picture 8 is not Paul auditioning for the part of Tarzan in a new Broadway musical, but Paul swinging onto stage to break his guitar during "Rock And Roll All Nite". Paul always wanted a signature stunt of his own... Gene had the blood spitting, and the flying stunts in the Dynasty and Unmasked shows; Ace had his smoking guitar, the flying guitar, and the rocket shooting guitar; Peter and Eric had their moving drum risers, but Paul never had a stunt! He wanted a flying stunt like Gene's, and eventually he got it, but in the Animalize days he had to do with the swinging on stage to break the guitar! (the picture is used with kind permission from Randy Bergeron)

kiss animalize uk tour

From the UK tour accompanying “Animalize”, Leicester Performance on October 10th was recorded completely with high quality audience recording. I used a master that has not been circulated even among traders who recorded that Crazy S. The sound pressure is sufficient, it is recorded with excellent sound sense sound. The sound of each part is recorded with presence rich loud sound, the punch of sound is the highest level as the recording of this era, the powerful groove which the band releases is transmitted directly. In the part where the sound is dense, it becomes somewhat dango-like, but still it is a good sound when considering the times. Mark St. John who is recording member of “Animalize” was forced to withdraw due to illness, so it is the first tour after joining Bruce · Cuulic who joined instead. Play a new work from “Animalize” Heaven’s On Fire, Under The Gun, I’ve Had Enough. To that vivid sound and performance sound freshly. “Creatures Of The Night” “Lick It Up” along with the number of the show’s center axis, has become a powerful set that appealed positive progressive kiss this season. The late Eric car’s tight and powerful drums are also recorded clearly. It has a perfect recording with a good sound separation feeling, a moderate air feeling and presence, and an ideal high sound quality with a natural and wide sound that is friendly to the ears. One piece of essential fan enthusiasts who captured the stage of the animation tour in early stage with high sound quality appeared.

★ It is a review summary of beatleg magazine vol. 103 (February 2009 issue). For your information.

In the previous work “Lick It Up”, the Animalize tour accompanied with the new work “Animalize” released with the kiss who eventually dropped the make-up and won the match with the real work, finally released Leicester Performance on October 10, 1984 as high sound quality Live audience complete recording with audience recording. An accident in which Mark St. John, a new lead guitarist who joined on behalf of Vinnie Vincent who was in the early stages of the tour, which is the ninth performance after the Animalize tour started and replaced many problems, can not play due to a strange disease Among them, it is also a sound source when Bruce Kurok, who was selected quickly, joined the tour for the first time. In terms of sound quality, there is plenty of realism with the feeling of dark, dekai sound like tightly condensed. A lot of new songs that are said to be heavy metal are played from the new work “Animalize”, and it is strongly impressed that it has changed greatly in terms of sound from the makeup kiss. However, Bruce Cuerick not yet familiar with the kiss has no room to give out his own color, and he copies the guitar sound of Ace · Fréry as it is, for example, “Cold Gin” which changes greatly afterwards Etc. are played in the style of the ace play itself. Also, at the “Black Diamond” decorating the last, instead of Peter Chris, Eric Carr is taking vocals but the performance of Ending is one of the listening place with a grand arrangement only during this period . Heaven’s On Fire、Under The Gun、I’ve Had Enoughをプレイ。そのへヴィメタル然としたサウンドと演奏が新鮮に響きます。「Creatures Of The Night」「Lick It Up」からのナンバーをショウの中軸に沿え、この時期らしい現在進行形のキッスをポジティブにアピールした力強いセットになっています。

Disc 1 1. Intro. 2. Detroit Rock City 3. Cold Gin 4. Strutter 5. Fits Like A Glove 6. Guitar Solo 7. Under The Gun 8. Heaven’s On Fire 9. War Machine 10. Drum Solo 11. Young And Wasted 12. I’ve Had Enough (Into The Fire) 13. I Still Love You

Disc 2 1. Lick It Up 2. Bass Solo 3. I Love It Loud 4. Love Gun 5. Rock And Roll All Nite 6. Creatures Of The Night 7. Black Diamond

Kiss - Animalize tour

I'm looking for the audio version of a video concert Kiss put out around 1985 from their Animalize tour. I forget the name of the video. paul

I think I found it. After posting, I found a show that I think may be the one. I've downloaded it but haven't listened to it. The only thing I don't have now is cover artwork. paul

  19. KISS Album Discussion and Rating

One of their worst album ever. Three okay Paul Stanley songs and I can't even remember anything about any of Gene Simmons songs. The most memorable thing about Animalize was Gene Simmons terrible wig he wore on the tour. To me this was the start point of Paul Stanley carrying Kiss and a series of at best average albums until "Revenge". 3/10
