Budget tourism: KSRTC’s Gavi tour package to run 500th trip soon, still rolls packed

KSRTC's Gavi tour package has garnered significant attention and popularity, becoming a sensation seven months after its launch. On June 27, it will complete its 500th service since its commencement on December 1, 2022. Remarkably, every trip offered thus far has been fully booked, demonstrating the immense appeal of the service.
With 491 services conducted to date, KSRTC has generated earnings exceeding Rs 2 crore. The journey commences from Pathanamthitta, and experienced staff members have been assigned to accompany travellers, bringing their valuable expertise and knowledge of Gavi to enhance the overall experience.

The sightseeing begins from Seethathode followed by a 60-kilometre forest trip. En route, travellers can catch a glimpse of elephant herds grazing on the hills near the Kakki reservoir. Wild buffaloes and deer are also plenty while tigers and leopards are occasional sightings that amaze tourists.
After enjoying boating and lunch at Kochu Pampa, the itinerary continues with a direct route to Parunthumpara via Vandiperiyar.
Parunthumpara holds a unique allure with its frequent gusts of wind, accompanied by fog. Situated at an altitude of 4,700 feet above sea level, it offers breathtaking views.
Three daily services are available to Gavi, all departing from Pathanamthitta. The journey commences at 7 am every morning, offering a comprehensive package priced at Rs 1,300 per person. This inclusive entry fee, boating, lunch, and travel costs. Departing from Parunthumpara at 6:30 pm, the package ensures a return to Pathanamthitta by 8:30 pm. Travellers also have the opportunity to witness major dams like Moozhiyar, Kakki-Anathode, and Pampa.

Kollam: KSRTC’s Kollam depot has released the latest schedule of its tour packages. More routes have been added to meet the rising demand for these lucrative packages. Gavi trips are scheduled for February 16 and 28 and the ticket costs Rs 1,650 per head. Meanwhile, the budget tourism cell has newly introduced the Paniyeliporu – Kaprikadu route as well. The two-day Munnar trip begins at 5 am on February 17. The ticket fares are Rs 1730 per head including the accommodation charges.
Two trips have been scheduled on February 18 – Paniyeli Poru and Rosemala. The fare for the Paniyeliporu trip is Rs 1,050 while it is Rs 770 for Rosemala including all the entry fees. A special air-conditioned bus will run service in the Attukal route, on February 25, the day of the Pongala festival. The trip to Illikkal Kallu – Ilaveezhapoonchira has been scheduled on February 25. Phone – 9747969768, 0474 2751053.
