Shop on the High Seas With This Disney Cruise Line Merchandise

During a recent trip aboard the Disney Dream, at the invitation of the Walt Disney Company, the MickeyBlog team found Disney Cruise Line merchandise. We found something for every age, from Disney-themed apparel and accessories to souvenirs and collectibles.

Let’s highlight a few items that caught out attention during our shopping experience on the Disney Dream.

Disney Cruise Line Apparel

We found plenty of t-shirts, dresses, and sweatshirts while shopping around. What better way to show off your style than with one of these nautical-themed items?

We love this dark blue tropical shirt. You can see red hibiscus flowers, Donald Duck, a Disney cruise ship, and Mickey Mouse in his captain’s uniform.

These grey “2023” t-shirts help put a timestamp on your vacation. They would be great for a group family photo!

This muted pink t-shirt has ruffled sleeves and features Mickey and Minnie in their captain outfits. The phrase “The ocean is calling and I must go” encircles the famous couple.

For polo-shirt aficionados, this green and navy shirt is sure to please. There is a “2023” emblem with Mickey Mouse. On the left sleeve is the Disney Cruise Line logo.

We love this cozy-looking “This year I’ll be at sea” sweatshirt.

This Disney Cruise Line “2023” sweater is simple-looking yet stylish for a minimalist look.

Looking for a shirt with the Fab 5? This red t-shirt features Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald all aboard the ship.

Little ones will look adorable in this blue and white striped Minnie Mouse t-shirt. The tie-back sleeves add a unique look to this shirt.

Disney Cruise Line Accessories

The ship had plenty of accessories to help complete your cruising vacation ensemble. We found hats, ears, backpacks, and more!

These light blue, pink, and gold purses are absolutely adorable. We love the roped handles – they really finish the look!

Complete your look with this pink and mint “2023” Disney Cruise Line hat.

Fans of the angry duck will love the sailor Donald Duck Loungefly mini backpack. He sports a blue bow, white cap, and a pesky crab keychain nearby.

Show off your vaca vibes with these Mickey and Minnie ears. The orange and blue gradient reminds us of a beachside sunset.

Disney Cruise Line Home Goods & Toys

Of course, you can take home plenty of mugs, tumblers, toys, and plushes to outfit your space!

These grey-blue gradient mugs feature a raised Disney Cruise Line logo with a Mickey Mouse emblem.

Of course, you can prepare to send your postcards from Castaway Cay or buy some nick-nack shelf-worthy figurines.

We adore this Disney Cruise Line plush. This is a great toy for young ones or even a small dog.

This red, blue, and white mug features Sorcerer Mickey commanding some enchanted brooms to create the Disney Dream logo.

Collectors of unique mugs will want to pick up this Disney Cruise Line tower, selling for $24.99.

We’re loving this colorful and vintage-looking “Sailing The Dream” tumbler. You can pick this up on your next trip for $24.99.

Meyer Confirms 2028 Disney Wish-Class Cruise Ship Order

Meyer Group today announced it will build a fourth  Disney Wish-class ship, which will operate in Japan. The newbuild follows the Disney Wish, Treasure and Destiny, according to a press release from the German shipyard.

Under the recently signed agreement, Oriental Land Company (OLC) will build and operate the Disney-branded cruise business in Japan.

According to a spokesperson, OLC is building and operating the new ship in Japan.

Bernard Meyer signed the shipbuilding contract today in Tokyo.

The new ship is scheduled to be delivered in 2028.

Oriental Land Company, which operates the Disney theme parks in Japan, is expected to commence operation of the ship by early 2029.

“I am very happy to sign this contract today and win OLC as a new customer from Japan. This order contributes to the long term development of shipbuilding in Papenburg,” said Meyer.

“With this new order, we look forward to continuing our relationship with Disney and working with Oriental Land Company, which also has a long-standing relationship with Disney, as a new customer. This is a strong signal for shipbuilding in Papenburg and shows that companies from all over the world rely on the quality of Meyer Werft,” added Bernd Eikens, CEO of Meyer Group.

“We have long-term relationships with both Meyer Werft and the Oriental Land Company. We are delighted to be working with both of them to create a Disney cruise experience for the Japanese market,” added Thomas Mazloum, president, Disney Signature Experiences.

Meyer Werft already delivered the Disney Wish, the first ship in the Wish class, to Disney Cruise Line in 2022. The two sister ships Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny are already under construction in Papenburg and will be delivered in 2024 and 2025.

Disney cruise to set sail in Tokyo in 2029

LOS ANGELES -- Disney announced on Tuesday that they will be offering cruise vacations in Japan.

The ship will set sail in 2029 and be the ninth vessel in the company's growing fleet.

Some of the company's other ships currently sail to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Europe, according to the Disney Cruise website .

The new Tokyo-based ship will hold up to 4,000 passengers.

Itineraries and onboard experiences are yet to be announced, but other Disney cruise ships currently offer Broadway-caliber entertainment, fireworks at sea, elaborate recreation facilities and more.

'Destination: Disney Cruise Line' takes you onboard state-of-the-art fleet for dream vacation

The new vessel is part of a deal with Japan's Oriental Land Company, which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort.

The cruise ship industry has rebounded strongly after a global shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Disney is the parent company of this station.

Japan’s first Disney cruise is set to launch in Tokyo by early 2029.

Oriental Land Co, which operates Tokyo Disneyland, signed a $A3 billion licensing agreement with Disney Enterprises to build a new ship that will set sail in the next five years.

The billion dollar move will mark the brand’s ninth vessel to join its growing fleet.

There will be roughly 1250 rooms on board the 4000-passenger liner costing between $A890 and $A2670 per person. A Singapore-based cruise is set to launch next year, and two more are still in the planning stages.

“The company has been offering guests immersive experiences through its theme park

business at Tokyo Disney Resort,” Oriental Land Co said in a statement after the announcement on Tuesday.

“This is a new opportunity to add another unique immersive Disney experience that will create lifelong memories for families. The family entertainment on Disney cruises will bring happiness and enjoyment for guests.”

The company said the decision was based on the potential growth of the cruise market

in Japan, the experience the company has gained in its theme park and hotel operations,

and its strong relationship with the Disney Company “which will serve as a great advantage

for this business opportunity”.

The ship will be based on the Disney Wish which entered the market in 2022, Disney Treasure, due to be delivered later this year, and the Disney Destiny which recently began construction in Germany, according to The Maritime Executive .

The publication reported the cruise ship will be registered in Japan, making it the largest-ever Japanese passenger ship. Initial plans call for two-to-four-night cruises with plans to consider longer, international destination cruises for the future.

The new year-round Disney-branded cruise ship comes at time when the cruise industry has seen a spike in numbers globally following the pandemic.

About 35.7 million passengers are expected to cruise in 2024, up from 31.5 million in 2023 - which is 6 per cent more than the amount of passengers that set sail in 2019, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

It’s been one of the fastest sectors of travel to rebound post pandemic with 1.25 million Aussies having cruised in 2023, up on 1.24 million in 2019.

Cruising is booming

A recent CLIA report revealed cruising has a much broader appeal than people realise with millennials the most enthusiastic about planning a cruise holiday.

The data also showed the average age of a cruiser is down to 46 with 36 per cent of cruisers under the age of 40.

“Those aged in their 20s currently make up about eight per cent of cruise guests, and we can expect this to increase in coming years as this generation begins to travel more,” CLIA managing director in Australasia Joel Katz recently told news.com.au.

“CLIA’s consumer research shows that of people who have cruises previously, millennials are the most likely cruise again. 88 per cent of millennials say they will cruise again, followed by Gen-Xers at 86 per cent.”

I've taken 4 Disney cruises without kids. Here's why they're actually the perfect adults-only getaway.

• Out of the 15 cruises I've been on, Disney Cruise Line is my favorite company to travel with.
• Disney cruises offer the perfect getaway for adults without children.
• From animation classes and private islands to Broadway-style shows, I never run out of things to do.

After taking over 15 cruises on most of the major lines , one stands out as my favorite company to travel with — Disney Cruise Line. Disney cruises combine what I love about the theme parks with relaxation and stellar dining, making them the perfect getaway.

I also love that Disney continues to invest in its cruise line. For example, the company's newest ship, Disney Treasure , plans to embark on its maiden voyage in December.

And next year, Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure will set sail for the first time. The company also invested between $250 million and $400 million in a new island in the Bahamas, which I was lucky enough to visit.

Although some may think of Disney Cruise Line as a company that caters to kids, I've had an incredible time on adults-only vacations with my sister, mother, friends, and husband. Here's why I think Disney cruises are the perfect choice for travelers without children.

I’m never bored on a Disney ship.

On most of the cruises I've been on, the main activities include eating and drinking. However, that's not the case on Disney cruises.

In addition to having great pools, Disney ships are known for having a wide variety of activities throughout the day. My favorites include trivia, mixology classes, panel discussions with Disney animators, and animation classes.

The food is by far the best I’ve had at sea, and I’ll always splurge on the specialty restaurants.

Food plays a big role in determining where I vacation, and I've had some of the most incredible meals on board Disney ships. In addition to the food, the restaurants are well-themed and detailed. While there are plenty of elevated eats, there are also casual bites, like pizza, and Disney favorites, including Mickey waffles.

While the main dining rooms are delicious — and included with the cruise fare — I'll always splurge on one of the specialty restaurants that charge an additional fee.

These upcharge restaurants offer a more intimate experience with super personalized service and a greater variety of dining options. My favorite is Palo, which is open for both brunch and dinner. Here, I've enjoyed fresh pasta, standout wine, and high-quality wagyu.

I love the themed bars, and the drinks are surprisingly affordable.

While Disney doesn't offer a drink package that includes cocktails, the well-themed bars are worth the splurge.

From a Star Wars-themed watering hole to a Peter Pan-themed speakeasy, I really enjoy the inventive cocktail programs and immersive settings. Each bar also has its own unique themed drinks, which keeps things exciting.

As a regular at Disney World, I was also surprised to find that drinks are much more affordable on a Disney Cruise, with prices consistent across the ships I've been on.

For example, my favorite Dole Whip spiked with rum was $9 on board, compared to the exact same version priced at $14 at Disney World .

There are plenty of adults-only spaces.

While I tend to spend much of my day at the lively main pool, which features Disney movies and live entertainment, there are also plenty of adults-only spaces, including pool areas exclusive to guests 18 and older.

Some ships even have bar districts with multiple venues exclusive to adults.

The rooms are spacious and practical.

I've found the rooms on Disney cruises to be the most spacious — and practical in design — I've encountered.

Most rooms on Disney ships also have a split bathroom, which means the toilet area is separate from the shower. This is a vacation lifesaver when multiple adults are trying to get ready at once.

There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy Disney Magic.

I love Disney ships because, from dressing up for pirate night to meeting my favorite characters, there are plenty of opportunities to feel like a kid again.

The shows on board are Broadway-quality.

I'm a sucker for live entertainment, and each Disney ship offers at least one Broadway-style production. From "Frozen" to "Beauty and the Beast," I always make sure to check out these high-quality musicals, which are included in the price of the cruise.

Disney’s private islands are very relaxing.

I've been to several cruise-line private islands, but Disney's are by far my favorite. Castaway Cay , located in the Bahamas, exudes relaxation. The island is home to one of my favorite activities, the Castaway 5k, which is included in the cruise fare and allows participants to earn an exclusive race medal.

Disney's newest island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, is located near the southern tip of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. The beaches here blew me away and were some of the best I've experienced after dozens of trips to the Caribbean and Mexico.

Disney Cruise Line is the perfect adults-only vacation, and I can't wait to plan another trip.

As a big fan of the parks, Disney Cruise Line takes those magical elements and upgrades them at sea with incredible food, live entertainment, and relaxation — making for the perfect adults-only vacation.

Its ships are home to some of the most exciting, highly themed lounge options I've encountered, and I love the Broadway-quality productions. While on board, I'm able to do as much or as little as I want.

Any Disney fan would be delighted to experience its attractions—be it their theme parks or cruise ships. If you’re looking to try the latter on your next family vacation, you might want to consider going onboard the new Disney Adventure cruise ship that will set sail from Singapore in 2025.

On the latest addition to its fleet, Disney marries thrill with the magic of its stories in films and park sites that have been loved by kids and kids at heart through the years. 

With a gross tonnage of 208,000, the first Disney Cruise Line ship to homeport in Asia has an estimated passenger capacity of 6,700 with around 2,500 crew members. It’s ideal for those who are up for a days-long wander as it will sail three- and four-night cruises from the Marina Bay Cruise Center.

7 themed areas inspired by Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies

Just like its many offerings, the Disney Adventure promises an immersive experience the moment you set foot on it. As the company put it, it will be “both a journey and a destination” with its seven uniquely themed spots.

There’s the Disney Imagination Garden, which features a nice valley and garden along with an open-air performance venue. Its design is inspired by a century of Disney adventures, from Moana all the way to Mowgli and beyond. 

The Disney Discovery Reef is a place for dining and shopping with friends at sea, including characters from The Little Mermaid , Lilo & Stitch , Finding Nemo , and Luca, while the San Fransokyo Street is a street market with interactive games, shops, and cinemas amped up with designs taking inspiration from Big Hero 6 . 

You can also chill at Wayfinder Bay—“the line where the sky meets the sea.” It’s a spacious open-air spot with a Moana-inspired pool area, giving you a stunning look at the sea and the sky during your cruise.

Love Disney’s prince-princess rom-coms? Get lost at Town Square, which is all about Disney royals such as fan favorites in Tangled, Cinderella , Frozen , Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , and The Princess and the Frog, among others.

If you’re in the mood for some thrill, there's no need to get off the ship as the Disney Adventure offers new and exciting activities at Marvel Landing, which has Avengers -level activities with none other than much-loved superheroes, and Toy Story Place, a playground with themed food spots and water play areas inspired by Toy Story  films.

World-class entertainment

The Disney fun will extend from its attractions to the new cruise ship, giving you the ultimate entertainment experience. Since it’s built with families in mind, it will have something in store for Disney fans of all ages—there are dedicated areas for the young, the tweens and teens, and even adults, including premium restaurants as well as lounge and spa. 

Apart from character encounters, there will also be stage shows featuring Disney songs and characters, signature events, first-run films, game shows, and karaoke parties.

You can also look forward to having mouthwatering dishes at its restaurants that go beyond simply eating food with your companions. It will have buffets, quick bite spots, and more, with each of them giving you a chance to relive precious Disney tales through incredible themes from their interiors to their food. Disney will also accommodate special dietary requests, if any.

Relaxing staterooms

Of course, rest is essential in any voyage so you can have the energy to explore more of its attractions the next day. The Disney Adventure will have Disney-themed rooms as well as its signature split-bath concept, which is designed to allow two passengers to prepare for the day or chill in the middle of it at the same time.

Aside from relaxation, the new Disney Adventure puts passengers' convenience at the top of its priorities, offering concierge accommodations with personalized service—from access to exclusive areas and amenities like a private lounge, sundeck with pool and whirlpools, high-end shopping venues, as well as spa and fitness facilities.

There's a new Disney cruise ship on the way. Where will it sail and what will it include?

Disney is expanding its cruising fleet in Japan.

A brand-new cruise ship, scheduled to begin sailing in early 2029, will be based in Japan year-round , Disney officials announced Tuesday. This will be the second Asia-based Disney cruise ship.

“The addition of a locally based Disney cruise ship will offer fun and relaxation for Japanese Disney fans and visitors from around the world during magical voyages filled with the incredible entertainment, world-class dining and exceptional guest service that set Disney cruises apart,” a statement from Disney read. “We are so excited to see this new Disney vacation experience come to life!”

What will the new Japan-based Disney cruise ship include?

This will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish, which debuted in 2023 and sails out of Port Canaveral in Florida. Walt Disney Imagineering is designing the ship to include many guest-favorite venues and experiences from the Wish, but with modifications specifically with Japanese guests in mind.

Details on what those may be, as well as a sailing itinerary, have not yet been revealed.  

The new unnamed Japan-based ship will have about 1,250 staterooms. If it's like the Disney Wish, it should hold about 4,000 passengers.

It will be built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany and operated in agreement with Oriental Land Co., OLC has a 40-year relationship with Disney as it owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort.

This will be the second Asia-based Disney cruise ship

The Disney Adventure is scheduled to sail from Singapore in 2025.

Three- and four-day sailings will be offered on the Disney Adventure. The ship will include some new offerings.

• Disney Imagination Garden – Described as the “emotional heart of the Disney Adventure,” this is an open-air performance venue. It’s inspiration ranges from Moana to Mowgli.
• San Fransokyo Street – This family entertainment area will feature interactive games, activities, shops and cinemas. It’s inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Big Hero 6.”
• Town Square – A “fantastical forest” that includes shops, lounges and cafes with nods to Disney’s princesses.
• Marvel Landing – This all-new experience will offer guests all of ages fun interactions with Marvel characters.
• Toy Story Place – Cruisers will get to explore a whimsical, interactive play land themed to the beloved Toy Story franchise.

What is the average cost for a Disney cruise?

The range varies greatly depending on the ship, the time of year and the length of the sailing .

For example, a verandah cabin aboard a 4-night sailing aboard the Disney Wish in the beginning of November goes for $3,645 per person. Four-nights aboard the fleet’s oldest ship, the Disney Magic, in a verandah cabin at the beginning of December is about $2,490 per person.

What is included in a Disney cruise?

Nearly all food and non-alcoholic beverages are included.

That includes room service, buffets, pool-side dining and rotational dinner dining, made popular by Disney. Each night guests dine in a different themed restaurant and the same serving staff moves with them to each restaurant.

Shows, character interactions and many onboard activities are included.

Some specialty beverages, dessert shops and adult restaurants are an extra fee. There’s also an additional charge for spa services, excursions and some onboard sporting activities.

Disney Cruise Line currently has five ships

Disney first entered the cruising market in 1998 with the Disney Magic . It was followed shortly by a sister ship, the Disney Wonder.

These are the smallest Disney ships accommodating about 2,700 passengers.

The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy joined the fleet in 2011 and 2012 respectively. They can hold about 4,000 guests.

Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Wish set sail in 2022. It also can hold about 4,000 guests, but it’s the largest of the ships with 14 decks.

A new ship, the Disney Treasure, is scheduled to debut this December.
