When do you want to visit the Eiffel Tower?

How many tickets do you need.

Young (12-24 years)

Children (4-11 years old)

Small children (younger than 4 years old)

Disabled individuals

RSA (earned income supplement) recipients

An order may include a maximum of 9 tickets

An order may only contain a maximum of 5 children’s tickets (4 years or younger)

An order may only contain a maximum of 2 RSA (earned income supplement) tickets

An order containing only children’s tickets (-4 years old and 4-11 years old) is not permitted.

“Adult”: Normal rate for adults 25 years old and over.

“Youth (12-24 years old)”: Rate for youth between 12 and 24 years old. Proof of age required.

“Children” (4-11 years old)”: Rate for children between 4-11 years old. Proof of age required. Mandatory purchase of an adult or youth ticket.

“Small children (younger than 4 years old)”: Free for children younger than 4 years old. Ticket and proof of age required. There is no left luggage office available, in particular for strollers.

“RSA (earned income supplement) recipients”: Rate applied to French RSA (earned income supplement) recipients only, available at the Tower's ticket offices.

“Disabled people and those accompanying them”: The disabled person’s rate is applied subject to proof of eligibility and for a maximum of one accompanying person.

How much does it cost to visit the eiffel tower.

To check the prices for the Eiffel Tower, please visit this page on the official Eiffel Tower site . The Eiffel Tower online ticket office provides the official prices. The adult price applies to adults 25 years and over.  There are discount rates for young people (12-24 years old), children (4-11 years old) and for visitors with disabilities and those accompanying them (maximum of one accompanying person per disabled person). Admission is free for children under 4 years old. The price of the ticket varies upon how you go up (elevator and/or stairs) and the destination (2nd floor or the upper floor) you select. 

The desired visit date is not available, what should I do?

Certain days (weekends, days during peak season between July and August) are in high demand and we sell out quickly, especially for e-tickets for the top floor, which are the most popular. If you are flexible, select another date that is shown as available. The dates marked in orange indicate that the last tickets are available. Lined out or grayed out dates are no longer available. If there is no more online availability, note that tickets to visit the Eiffel Tower are also sold on site at the ticket offices at the monument. Regardless, we sell our tickets online up to 60 days in advance (for lift tickets) and 14 days in advance (for stairs tickets to second floor). If you can, plan your visit well in advance, so you will have the choice of date, destination and time.  

How many tickets can I buy?

On the online ticket shop, you can buy up to 9 tickets for the same order. Groups who want to buy tickets, regardless of the number, must use the ticket office site reserved for groups.

The Eiffel Tower’s online box office allows you to purchase your ticket online for the 2nd floor or the Summit at the official rate. You can purchase individual e-tickets for up to 9 people. Tickets can also be purchased several weeks in advance. With the e-ticket system, experience no lines! You will directly receive your ticket by e-mail so you can print it at home or store it on your smartphone. If e-tickets are sold out for the date/time or destination that you search, it is always possible to purchase tickets on the spot on the day of your visit.  At the scheduled hour, go directly to the lifts or stairs without having to wait at the ticket stands. There are mandatory security checks at the Eiffel Tower’s entrance and before entering one of the pillars.

From July 18 to 25, the circulation in the area surrounding the Eiffel Tower will be restricted and will require proof for movement within this area. If you wish to visit the Eiffel Tower during this period but have not been able to purchase e-tickets online, you can still buy tickets at the monument's ticket offices on the day of your visit. This ticket "Free access to the Esplanade" is not necessary if you have already purchased e-tickets on our website.

Eiffel Tower: How to get tickets, find discounts and save time

While arguably the most recognized monument in the world, the Eiffel Tower hardly survived the 1889 World’s Fair. Few tourists today realize that, as the tower was constructed for the event, the city planned to tear down the tower in the days following the fair.

Good thing that they never got around to it, because these days everyone wants a piece of the Dame de Fer (Iron Lady).

Planning your visit to Paris’ most famous attraction? Here are a few tips to make your visit as enjoyable as possible:

Elevator to the 1st and 2nd Level: €17.10 Elevator to the top: €26.80 Stairs to the 1st and 2nd Level: €10.70 Stairs to the 1st and 2nd Level, then Elevator to the top: €20.40

Should you buy tickets in advance?

You can save time by buying your tickets online , in advance, and avoiding the ticket line when you get there. During peak travel times, though, online tickets (especially to the top) may be sold out. However, they would still be available at the tower for immediate use. You’ll just have to wait in that ticket line…

So really, the short answer is: Yes, buy tickets in advance through the official Eiffel Tower website and book your slot. But don’t be discouraged if you don’t see anything available for your time and date — you can still just show up and wait in the ticket line.

Discounts on Eiffel Tower tickets

Ages 12 to 24 enjoy a discounted price of €8.60 on elevator admissions to the second floor, €13.40 to the top, and €5.40 on a stairs ticket. Ages 4 to 11 receive a discounted rate of €4.30 on elevator admissions to the second floor, €6.70 to the top, and €2.70 on a stairs ticket.

The Eiffel Tower is open every day of the year, including many major holidays. Hours are as follows:

May 7 – June 17: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. From June 18 – May 6: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Closed July 14 for Bastille Day.

Time of day to go

Everyone has a favorite time to head up the tower, but the evening time, right around sunset, is one of the most stunning. If you time it right, you’ll be watching the sun set over Paris while the twinkling lights below start to pop alive. By the time you reach the summit, you’ll have the best possible view of the city at its finest.

Climbing it

As long as you’re not wearing heels, you may opt to climb the stairs to the tower’s second level to catch the elevator to the very top. This ticket saves you €6.40, or put that money toward a well-deserved glass of wine (or two!) at a café afterward.

What to wear

It gets windy at the top of the tower, so it’s a good idea to dress accordingly, especially during the cooler months. You’ll be much more comfortable at the top if you have a little something extra to wrap around yourself.

Alternative towers

In the end, there are no real tricks to visiting the tower. If there’s a huge line, there’s a huge line. But no one is forcing you to wait.

If simply seeing the tower is enough, consider going up the Tour Montparnasse , that big ugly skyscraper in the south of the city. From the top of this building you get a bird’s eye view of everything with less fuss. There’s also a bar up top — win-win situation?

Transportation to the Eiffel Tower

The Metro line 6 will drop you off at Bir Hakeim, the closest station. For better views while arriving at the tower, lines 6 and 9 at the station Trocadéro is a stunning way to introduce yourself to Eiffel’s masterpiece with just a short walk across the river afterward. Line 8 at Ecole Militaire is also a short walk through the Champs de Mars, offering great views of the tower as well.

To be a bit more accurate about the Eiffel Tower:

It was NOT scheduled to be demolished just after the 1889 Exposition. In an unusual agreement, Eiffel built the tower with financing he arranged, in return for a 20-year concession to operate and recoup his investment. Only then was it subject to demolition.

By the time the twenty years was up, Eiffel had cleverly found ways to prolong its life by making it useful to the French military as a radio tower, by setting it up as an important meteorological research point, and more.

I just returned from a one day trip to Paris with my family, and the Eiffel Tower was on our must-see list. We did go there with the aim of just enjoying the view of the tower from the ground.

It was quite impressive and beautiful but the surroundings did not quite live up to our expectation. The area around the tower was fenced, filled with tourists (a lot of tourists), and way too many street sellers trying to sell us tower key hangers made in China. On top of that the area in general was quite messy.

All maybe what you can expect from a top attraction in the middle of a major capital. In retrospect we do regret not having bought tickets to get the view of Paris from the tower. Next time we will 🙂

Sturgill Simpson to release new album under a new name, embark on 2024 concert tour

A decade following the breakout success of his May 2014-released album "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music," Sturgill Simpson has announced not just his forthcoming eighth album — July 12's "Passage Du Desir" — under a new alias, Johnny Blue Skies, but also a 28-date North American tour.

Famously, Simpson noted he would only release five studio albums under his name. His Johnny Blue Skies debut will be released via his own independent label, High Top Mountain Records. Simpson (credited as Johnny Blue Skies) and David Ferguson co-produced songs recorded at Nashville, Tennessee's Clement House Recording Studio and London's Abbey Road Studios .

The Passage du Desir is a shopping district in downtown Paris' 10th arrondissement, or district, located a 20-minute drive east of the Eiffel Tower.

In a 2021 feature for the Nashville Tennessean , part of the USA TODAY Network, Simpson noted that he idealized a career in which he was free of making records that sustained a self-branded industry as a machine.

Instead, the past decade has seen him achieve Grammy-winning acclaim for five full-length studio albums, two COVID-19 quarantine bluegrass projects — "Cuttin' Grass Vol. 1 and Vol. 2" — and acting in film and television roles, including "The Dead Don't Die," " Queen & Slim ," " Killers of the Flower Moon ," and " The Righteous Gemstones ."

Regarding the sound that his Johnny Blue Skies debut could encompass, he offered to The Tennessean in 2021 that he would need to "(have) something to say" and be "really excited about" a "really great idea for a record." 

"I'll put it this way, if I go back into the studio it'll be because I thought of the complete and total reinvention that gets me excited," Simpson said. "But it won't be my name. I'm done with that all that."

Discover the Tower as you have never seen it before, in the company of a member of the Official Eiffel Tower Guides family, all of whom are passionate about the monument. Savor the moving experience of ascending to the Second Floor with its 360° view of the entire Paris cityscape, accompanied by your guide, who will also help you access the elevator. Your guide will then lead you down the stairs to the First Floor, at the heart of the monument's structure.

The tour, lasting around 90 minutes, is available in French or English, and includes no more than 12 people to ensure that everything runs smoothly. 01: See you on the Esplanade

Meet your guide 15 minutes before the start of the tour at the Official Guided Tours meeting point (don't forget the security checks at the site entrances, which may take 10 to 20 minutes). Your guide will take care of you, and you will benefit from easier access to the Top.

02: Discover how the historic elevators work

From an exceptional and perfectly preserved vantage point over the hydraulic elevator shaft dating from 1899, you will gain a detailed understanding of the workings of this machinery found nowhere else in the world.

03: The magic of the ascent and the Second Floor

You can then savor the thrills of the ascent to the Second Floor. Throughout the visit, your Official Guide will be happy to share tales of momentous and everyday moments in the Tower's history with you, from the monument to the company, and from the past to the present.

03: Back down to the heart of the structure

After returning to the Second Floor (by elevator), you will take the stairs to the First Floor, at the heart of the structure. Your Guide will tell you more about the structure of the monument and the history of its construction.

The price of a guided tour is composed of the price of the access ticket + 30 euros (Adult & Youth rate) or 20 euros (Child rate)

Please conform to the meeting time on the Esplanade near the Information Point, 15 minutes before the time stated on your ticket.

Before reaching the Esplanade, security checks are carried out at the entrance to the site. But you are authorized to use an entrance specially reserved for "Visites guidées officielles". Allow 10 to 20 minutes to complete these checks.

This tour is not accessible for people with reduced mobility and not recommended for people with baby strollers.
