Life Cover with Cornmarket…

I was recently in touch with David Bermingham and Niamh Coughlan in relation to obtaining a new Life cover policy. It was mortgage related and there was a bit of back and forth with the bank which can be frustrating. Both David and Niamh really helped in taking this task off my hands, finding the best quote and making the process as easy as possible. Professional, prompt and always available to me throughout, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Mortgage and MP sorted!

Our Mortgage Advisor Ian has done an absolute amazing job getting our mortgage over the line. Always quick to answer emails and calls and very on the ball in what was a time sensitive application. We could not have asked for a smoother process, the online portal is a great tool as well for uploading the documents. We will recommend to all our friends. We also had a great consultation with Hazel who helped us get our mortgage protection and put our mind at ease with any queries we had. An absolute asset to the team.

Date of experience : 26 March 2024

Hi Adrian, Ian will also be absolutely delighted with such positive feedback on our mortgage service and I'll be sure to let Hazel know too. Thank you for taking the time in letting us know. Best wishes, Cornmarket

Great help and information regarding pensions and salary protection. James gave a honest reflection on retirement for someone like me retiring in 2060 or the pros and cons of retiring before and after 2060. Very helpful information around AVCs, it was set up in a couple of minutes with little to no work on my behalf!

Hi Emma, thank you for your 5 star review. Well done for setting up your AVC, if only everyone knew how beneficial to our retirement savings they are! James will be delighted with your positive feedback. Best wishes, Cornmarket

No discount for pro drivers.

Tried to update my address (3 miles from my old address) and my insurer cancelled me, the insurer and Cornmarket both charged me a fee and couldn’t offer any other policy better than 4 times the price of my old policy. They supposedly specialise in coverage for pro drivers. As a professional lorry and bus driver with a clean license, a family car and 15 years of experience, cornmarket treated me like a reckless teenager and never offered any discount or even any competitive policy. Waste of time and money dealing with these middlemen.

I think it's made so difficult to access your payments that it would put you off. When I signed up it was sold as something that its not! Took ages to get payments and even then it wasn't what I expected. Would consider cancelling my payment protection due to the red tape and all the paperwork involved.

Date of experience : 08 December 2022

Hi Noreen, Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry that you have had a frustrated experience with payments. I'm going to look into this further for you as we take this type of feedback seriously and are always looking to improve our experience if it's not right. Kind regards, Cornmarket

IAM RoadSmart

Travel insurance with Cornmarket

Travel is big this year: bookings are on the up, with flights set to exceed those taken in 2019. So, it’s possible you’ve got a trip or two in the diary.

Where are you going?

Maybe it’s a special getaway after years of travel uncertainty? If so, make it memorable for the right reasons with travel insurance to protect you from unexpected events.  IAM RoadSmart members and their family can access great value policies, tailored to your unique circumstances, through Cornmarket . Compare prices from a range of insurers in one place, to find the right policy for your next trip.

Simple but vital

It’s easy to get a quote online,  just answer a few questions about the trip and the people needing cover.

You’ll also have to declare any pre-existing medical conditions and update your policy if anything changes. You’ll see comparative cover options, so you can choose one that best suits your needs. For a more personalised service, you can phone an advisor who will be happy to help and complete the application for you. Ensuring you’ve got suitable travel insurance is just as important as packing your passport.

Don’t forget that the policy is also there to protect you well before you set off. That’s why it’s important to arrange cover as soon as you book a holiday, whether UK-based or overseas.

How do I make a claim?

If you need to make a claim, it’s straightforward, with UK-based call centres and 24-hour helplines to ensure the process is as smooth as possible at an already stressful time.

A year of cover

If you’re planning more than one holiday a year, then annual cover is often a more cost-effective choice than a single-trip policy.

An annual European policy means making one purchase that covers you for multiple trips in a year, saving time and giving you peace of mind from the start. UK holidays are covered, and if you decide to go out of Europe you can upgrade to worldwide cover at any time. There are also family, group, cruise and golf options.

Whatever your plans; whether it’s a beach holiday with the family, a walking tour or an anniversary cruise – you can find the right cover with Cornmarket, so that in the unlikely event of needing to use it, you’re in good hands.

Is travel insurance refundable here’s everything you need to know.

Sometimes, travel insurance is refundable. Here's when you can get your money back.

Peter Hoagland always checks to see if his travel insurance is refundable. That's because anything can happen between the time you book your vacation and when you leave — and because travel insurance isn't always refundable.

During the pandemic, he discovered that the hard way. He had to cancel a trip and asked for his money back from the insurance company. It refused.

"Since then, I always read the fine print on the policy," he says.

The refundability of travel insurance has always been an open question. Some countries and U.S. states regulate refundability. Travel insurance companies put refundability details in the fine print of the policy. And, as Hoagland found out, there are always exceptions.

Like the pandemic, when refund policies were all over the map. Some insurance companies adhered to their published policies. Others offered a credit that could be reused within a year, which was minimally useful because the pandemic was still happening a year later. Others quietly gave their customers a refund.

Hoagland says he fought for his money. Eventually, he contacted a manager at his travel insurance company.

"That produced a quick result," he says. "I got my money back."

It s Possible The Russian Army Is Tricking The Ukrainian Army With A Fake Offensive

Writer explains johnny depp and amber heard joke in ‘the fall guy’, ufc st louis results bonus winners from night of memorable finishes.

But let's face it: Getting a refund for travel insurance can be difficult. There are times when insurance is always refundable because it's required by law. There are times when it's sometimes refundable. And there are times when it's almost never refundable. But even then, there may be a way to recover some — or all — of the value of your policy.

Getting a refund for travel insurance can be a challenge

If you have a travel insurance policy and would like to get a refund, it might be easier said than done, say experts.

"While travel insurance is regulated like auto and home insurance, it’s often less standardized," says Stuart Winchester, CEO of Marble, a digital wallet for your insurance. "So first off, it’s important to check the fine print of your specific policy. Don’t assume it’s like the last one you got."

Even when you have something in writing, a refund can require some serious negotiating skills.

"Getting a refund for travel insurance can be complicated and frustrating," says Peter Hamdy, the managing director of a tour operator in Auckland, New Zealand. He's asked for a refund on policies numerous times and says that despite what travel insurance companies may tell you, there are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to getting a refund on your policy.

"Some situations can warrant a refund," he says. "It depends on your policy."

What does a typical refundability clause look like? For example, the World Explorer Guardian from Insured Nomads notes that it's refundable only during the 10-day review period from the date of delivery or 15 days from the date of delivery if mailed, provided you have not already departed on your trip and you have not incurred any claimable losses during that time. If you depart on your trip before the expiration of the review period, the review period ends and the policy can't be refunded.

"We go a bit further with our World Explorer Travel Medical plans," notes Andrew Jernigan, CEO of Insured Nomads. "If no claims have been filed then we can refund the unused portion of the policy if you cut your trip short.”

When can you get a refund for travel insurance?

Here are the most common cases where travel insurance can be refunded:

  • If you cancel during the "free look" period required by the government. Most states require what's called a "free look" period of anywhere from 10 to 14 days. "During this period, travelers can review the purchase and make sure it fits their needs," explains James Nuttall, general manager of Insubuy . "If it does not, they can cancel it for any reason and get a full refund, no questions asked, so long as you haven’t departed yet.
  • If you cancel during the travel insurance company grace period. Many insurance companies also have a grace period for refunds (usually, they are the same as the "free look" although some grace periods can be longer). "If you’re outside your grace period, which typically lasts one to two weeks after signing, you’re contractually obliged to pay your premiums," says David Ciccarelli, CEO of the vacation rental site Lake . "Still, it doesn’t hurt to ask your company for a refund or alternative options if you’re outside your grace window. You might not get a yes, but it could lead to some cost savings or better solutions."
  • When someone else cancels your trip. "For instance, if your cruise is canceled due to low river tide, you are not at fault and would typically receive a full refund or credit for a future sailing, thus eliminating the need for the travel insurance policy," explains Rhonda Abedsalam vice president of travel insurance for AXA Assistance US.
  • If you die. Typically, the policy would be refunded to your next of kin. Generally, you can also ask for a refund if your travel companion dies before your trip.

Remember, it depends on where you buy your insurance

The refundability of your insurance can depend on where you purchased it. Commercial policies bought from a cruise or tour company are generally canceled and refunded if you cancel the trip far enough in advance of your departure date.

"The travel insurance cancellation provisions are generally tied to the cancellation provisions for the cruise or tour," explains Dan Skilken, president of TripInsurance.com . "After you have paid the last deposits on the cruise and are close enough to departure that they will not provide a refund on the cruise, they generally will also not provide a refund on the travel insurance. But if you cancel early enough to get all or most of your deposit back, you will also get your travel insurance premium refunded."

If you’ve purchased retail travel insurance from a third-party provider or comparison website, you can often get a refund if you can show receipts proving that you received a full refund of all trip deposits and have not had any cancellation penalties or taken any travel credits when you canceled your trip.

That's because retail travel insurance is sold for a specific traveler and for a specific trip. If you have proof of a complete refund and have not received travel credits, then you no longer have what's called an "insurable interest" in the trip. The insurance company must cancel and refund your premium in full, says Skilken.

Insider tip: If the insurance company refuses, just tell them you have proof that you no longer have an insurable interest in the trip. You have to have an insurable interest in a trip to own a travel insurance policy.

Your agent may be able to help you get a refund

You may also be able to lean on the agent who sold you the policy. For example, all policies on Squaremouth come with a money-back guarantee.

"The purpose of this benefit is to give travelers extra time to review their policy documentation to be sure it’s the best policy for their coverage needs," says spokeswoman Jenna Hummer. At Squaremouth, the money-back period typically lasts between 10 and 14 days, which is in line with the mandated "free look" period.

However, I have also seen agents negotiate with travel insurance companies for a more generous refund period in case of extenuating circumstances. There's no guarantee that you'll get it, but it's worth asking — and one reason to work with a third party.

Agents can also help you avoid this problem. Susan Sherren, who runs Couture Trips , a travel agency, notes that American Airlines Vacation Packages offers a predeparture protection insurance plan, which allows cancellation for any reason before the outbound departing flight time. Other restrictions apply, she adds.

"More flexibility will often cost you more," she says. "But having the flexibility is a great way to sleep well at night."

Can't get a refund? Look for other kinds of flexibility from your travel insurance company

Even if your travel insurance company says no to a refund, it doesn't necessarily mean you've lost the value of your policy.

"If a travel supplier changes or cancels your trip, you should be able to change your travel insurance policy to match the new dates of your trip or even cover a new trip, sometimes up to two years into the future," says Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA .

Pro tip: Be sure to change the dates of your travel insurance policy before the departure date of your current itinerary. You can do that online or by calling your agent. Once the policy's effective date has passed, making any changes or initiating a refund or credit becomes much more difficult.

Don't forget to do your due diligence

Bottom line: Travel insurance is refundable under certain circumstances. But knowing when can require research.

"It's important for consumers to carefully read their policy upon receipt to understand the specific terms offered by their insurance provider," says Robert Gallagher, president of the US Travel Insurance Association.

The more you know, the likelier you are to get the refund you want when your plans change.

If you're looking for a reputable travel insurance company, HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance is a great option. It's been in business for over 20 years and offers three different travel insurance plans. Whether you need basic coverage or more comprehensive protection, HTH Worldwide likely has a plan that will suit your needs.

HTH Worldwide is a travel insurance company owned and operated by Worldwide Insurance Services, which also operates GeoBlue Travel Insurance . In fact, many of the policies listed on HTH Worldwide's website are actually provided by GeoBlue, specifically its travel medical insurance . While we'll talk about those policies here, you can find more details in our GeoBlue review .

HTH Worldwide's stand-alone products are its TripProtector trip cancellation policies. These offer comprehensive protection with relatively low premiums compared to many of its competitors. In fact, HTH Worldwide is among the companies included in our picks for the best cheap travel insurance .

That said, with the premiums you're paying, you'll encounter some concessions. For one, HTH Worldwide's coverage limits are far below that of many of the best travel insurance companies, particularly when it comes to trip cancellation limits, which start at $5,000 per person for its Economy plan.

Types of Policies Offered by HTH Worldwide

HTH Worldwide offers three primary plans: TripProtector Economy, Classic, and Preferred. Each plan has different coverage levels and features, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs. But they'll all cover (up to a specified amount) things like trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical expenses, lost or delayed luggage, and more.

One important note, though, is that the TripProtector Economy plan is not available for trips where the per-person cost is greater than $5,000.

Below you'll find the per-person coverage limits of HTH Worldwide's three travel insurance plans:

These policies also include 24-hour emergency hotline service, an online database to search for doctors while you're traveling, a medical term translation database, and health and security news alerts.

Additional Coverage Options from HTH Worldwide

In addition to the three primary plans, HTH Worldwide also offers the following two plans, through GeoBlue, for travelers only looking for travel medical coverage:

  • Single-trip option for travelers with primary health insurance:  HTH Worldwide provides a short-term international medical plan for those who have other travel insurance but need travel medical coverage. It covers pre-existing conditions and medical evacuation costs, with maximum benefit amounts ranging from $50,000 to $1 million and deductibles from $0 to $500.
  • Single-trip option for travelers without primary health insurance:  This plan for travelers who don't have primary health insurance has maximum benefit amounts ranging from $50,000 to $1 million and deductibles ranging from $0 to $500. It covers pre-existing conditions for medical evacuation.
  • Multi-trip option:  This annual travel insurance plan is for people who are taking multiple sub-70-day trips within a 12-month period.

The following two plans listed on HTH Worldwide's website, also supplied by GeoBlue, are designed for people who live or work outside their home country:

  • Xplorer plan: This plan is for individuals and families who intend to be outside their home country for more than three months per year.
  • Navigator plan: This plan is specifically for students, faculty, mission, and maritime crews who will be outside of their home country for more than three months during the year.

Like other travel insurance providers, HTH Worldwide offers additional coverages that can be purchased along with the primary policy. These add-ons are only available for a Preferred plan, not an Economy or Classic plan.

The add-ons include:

  • Cancel for any reason (CFAR): Will pay 75% of any prepaid trip expenses. You must purchase coverage within 21 days of your first trip deposit, and the trip must be canceled at least two days before your scheduled departure. This add-on is only available for TripProtector Preferred.
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW):  Coverage for your rental car in the event of damage due to crash, theft, vandalism, windstorm, fire, hail, flood, or any cause beyond your control. (Not available in NY, OR, or TX.)

HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance Cost

The premium you pay will depend on various factors, including the age of the travelers, destination, and total trip costs. The  average cost of travel insurance  is 4% to 8% of your travel costs.

After inputting some personal information, such as your age and state of residence, along with your trip details, like travel dates, destination, and trip costs, you'll get an instant quote for HTH Worldwide plans available for your trip. And from there, it's easy to compare each option based on your coverage needs and budget.

Now let's look at a few examples to estimate HTH Worldwide coverage costs.

As of 2024, a 23-year-old from Illinois taking a week-long, $3,000 budget trip to Italy would have the following travel insurance quotes:

  • TripProtector Economy: $93.16
  • TripProtector Classic: $115.56
  • TripProtector Preferred: $156.20

Premiums for HTH Worldwide plans are between 3.1% and 5.2% of the trip's cost, well within the average cost of travel insurance.

HTH Worldwide provides the following quotes for a 30-year-old traveler from California heading to Japan for two weeks on a $4,000 trip:

  • TripProtector Economy: $121.41
  • TripProtector Classic: $149.43
  • TripProtector Preferred: $200.75

Once again, premiums for HTH Worldwide plans are between 3% and 5% of the trip's cost, within and below the expected range of travel insurance costs.

A Texas family consisting of two 40-year-old parents with a 10-year-old and 4-year-old on a two-week trip to Australia for $20,000:

  • TripProtector Economy: $610.74
  • TripProtector Classic: $743.15
  • TripProtector Preferred: $995.04

HTH Worldwide plans cost between 3% and 5% of the trip's cost, below and within the average cost of travel insurance.

A 65-year-old couple looking to escape New Jersey for Mexico for two weeks with a trip cost of $6,000 would have the following quotes:

  • TripProtector Economy: $324.95
  • TripProtector Classic: $389.12
  • TripProtector Preferred: $474.12

Premiums for HTH Worldwide plans for older-age travelers are between 5.4% and 7.9%, which is well within the average cost for travel insurance. While it's certainly more expensive than coverage for younger travelers, it's on the lower end of what travel insurance companies often quote for older travelers.

How to Purchase and Manage a HTH Worldwide Policy

It's fast and simple to get a quote from HTH Worldwide. Visit its website and provide basic information about your trip. You'll receive an immediate quotation for the insurance plans available for your journey, so it's simple to compare each one. Make sure you have all of the following information on hand:

  • Primary destination
  • Age of traveler(s)
  • Total trip cost
  • Travel dates
  • State of residence

If you're buying a trip cancellation policy, you'll be directed to the HTH Worldwide quote page, where you can choose one of three plans. If you're within the specified purchasing window, you'll also be able to add cancel for any reason coverage to the Preferred plan.

How to File a Claim with HTH Worldwide

For medical claims, you can contact HTH Worldwide by phone at 888-243-2358 or via email at [email protected]. For all other claims, you can call 866-655-3058.

You must notify HTH Worldwide of your claim within seven days of first experiencing the covered loss. You'll also need to provide proof of loss within 90 days after the loss. The company doesn't provide an expected window for response or payment in its terms, but said that a claim usually takes anywhere from 30-45 days to process in response to a review on SquareMouth.

You can find HTH Worldwide's claim forms here .

HTH Worldwide has relatively few customer reviews to speak of. It has an average of 4.24 stars out of five across just under 500 reviews on its SquareMouth page, which comprises the vast majority of online reviews. HTH Worldwide customer reviews were very complimentary about the purchasing experience, saying it was quick.

That said, customers also mentioned that HTH Worldwide is hard to reach for anything — purchasing, traveling, and claims. This can be especially concerning if you're trying to contact the 24/7 hotline while facing an emergency. That said, when customers were able to make contact, they had generally positive things to say about the experience.

One customer getting treated for a medical emergency was given a list of recommended hospitals in their area and HTH Worldwide's connection with GeoBlue meant that some hospitals were able to direct bill instead of the customer paying and getting reimbursed. This created some hoops the customer had to jump through, including obtaining a letter from HTH Worldwide. That said, the customer writes, "The whole thing took less than 30 minutes. With that letter in tow, I was able to be seen, treated and released without payment on my part."

HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance vs. Allianz Travel Insurance

If you look at coverage with Allianz Travel Insurance , you'll see that you can select from 10 different insurance plans. Much like HTH Worldwide, Allianz Travel Insurance offers single-trip policies and options for those who plan to be outside the country for longer. And, like with all insurance, the different plans provide varying degrees of coverage.

Allianz Travel Insurance's most popular single-trip option is the OneTrip Prime plan, which offers:

  • Trip cancellation coverage up to $100,000
  • Trip interruption coverage up to $150,000
  • Emergency medical coverage for $50,000
  • Coverage for baggage loss, theft or damage up to $1,000
  • Travel delay coverage up to $800

Compare that to HTH Worldwide's most popular TripProtector Preferred Plan and you'll see that HTH Worldwide's emergency medical coverage limit is substantially higher. But Allianz Travel Insurance's plan has better trip protection coverage limits. The right choice will depend on what coverages are most important to you and your personal situation.

Read our Allianz Travel Insurance review here.

HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance vs. Nationwide Travel Insurance

Amongst insurance providers, Nationwide Travel Insurance is one of the more familiar household names. Much like HTH Worldwide, Nationwide offers straightforward coverage with only two single-trip plans: the Essential Plan and the Prime Plan. Furthermore, Nationwide has designed policies specifically for those taking cruises or who travel frequently throughout the year.

To compare Nationwide and HTH Worldwide, we took a look at both companies' highest-tier plans.

Nationwide's Prime Plan includes coverage for trip cancellation up to $30,000, trip interruption coverage of 200% of the cost of the trip (with a maximum payout of $60,000), missed connection and itinerary change coverage each amounting to $500, per-day trip delay coverage of up to $250 for 6+ hour delays, and emergency medical evacuation with a limit of $1 million in payouts.

In comparison, HTH Worldwide's TripProtector Preferred plan offers trip cancellation coverage up to $50,000, trip interruption coverage 200% of the cost of the trip, coverage for a missed connection of up to $1,000, trip delay coverage up to $2,000, and emergency medical evacuation coverage of up to $1 million.

The two plans are quite similar in many regards. To determine which is best for you, you'll need to compare quotes based on your personal and trip-specific details.

Read our Nationwide Travel Insurance review here.

Compare HTH Worldwide vs. Credit Card Insurance

It's worthwhile to review the insurance coverage offered by your travel credit cards before you buy a separate travel insurance policy. Some essential coverages, like rental car insurance, might already be included with a card you have.

The coverage from your credit card may be enough if, for example, you don't have any non-refundable trip expenses and you're driving to your destination. Another scenario that could suffice is if your health insurance covers you while abroad, you're in decent health, and you aren't too concerned with potential medical costs while traveling.

It's essential to remember that credit card travel protection is usually secondary to the primary coverage you'd get with a travel insurance policy. This means you'll have to file a claim with the other applicable insurance before filing a claim with your credit card company.

HTH Worldwide Travel Insurance FAQs

HTH Worldwide is known for its strong focus on medical coverage, providing comprehensive support during medical emergencies, including access to a wide network of hospitals and emergency medical assistance.

Yes, HTH Worldwide offers plans that cover travel to high-risk destinations, but it's important to review the specific terms and coverage limitations for such areas.

Pre-existing conditions are covered under HTH Worldwide's Classic and Preferred plans as long as you purchase your policy within 14 and 21 days of your initial trip deposit, respectively. HTH Worldwide TripProtector Economy does not cover pre-existing conditions.

HTH Worldwidepolicies max out at 90 days. If your trip exceeds this time frame, it's best to look elsewhere for travel insurance.

HTH Worldwide stands out for its comprehensive coverage at affordable prices.

Faye insurance plans

Unlike many other travel insurance companies , Faye offers only one plan.

To find out what types of coverage Faye travel insurance plans include, we generated a quote for a 44-year-old woman from Arizona who was traveling to Italy for two weeks. Her total trip cost came in at $2,000.

Here’s what Faye provides:

This plan costs 7.03% of the overall trip cost, which is typical according to NerdWallet's analysis .

The plan is comprehensive and includes coverage you don’t typically see, such as reimbursement for lost credit cards and a payment for being inconvenienced.

Faye also offers a number of customizations; there are different add-ons from which to choose, all of which vary in price. More on your options in the next section.

Which Faye plan is best for me?

Although Faye has just one base plan available for purchase, it has plenty of different add-ons from which to choose. Faye sorts its bundles and add-ons according to the trip you’re taking, so you may see your bundled offer vary from time to time.

For tentative plans . Choosing to add on a Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) policy can provide peace of mind if your travel plans aren’t solid. With the ability to get up to 75% of your money back, you’ll just want to make sure you’re canceling at least 48 hours in advance.

For pet owners . Not many travel insurance companies include coverage for your pets , especially not when it comes to vet bills. With a low overall cost, this add-on can make a huge difference if you end up delayed on your return.

For those wanting to customize everything . Faye’s base plan allows customers to create tons of different customizations according to their travel needs. Even though it’s costly, it makes up for it with wholly comprehensive coverage.

Faye’s travel insurance offerings may suit your needs, but before purchasing a plan, take a look in your wallet. Many different travel credit cards offer complimentary travel insurance , which can include benefits such as trip cancellation reimbursement, rental car insurance and more.

No good if you are over 70

I have been using this company for many many years. Until now. I received my renewal quote, nothing has altered in my circumstances, other than I have turned 70. Hence my premium has shot up from 320 to over 700 pounds. Despite being an IAM Member Other companies are offering around the £400. Talk about ageism.

Hi Mr Fuggle, thanks for your feedback. While we can't publicly discuss details of your policy, we can see that there were changes to your policy that contributed to the increase in your premium. I can see that you've spoken with our colleague Paul to discuss your renewal and that he is due to follow up with you next week. Adie@Cornmarket

Claim Outstanding

Very disappointed and irritated by the inept service that i have received in a NON FAULT claim I have spent many hours trying to get an answer as to why outstanding amount on a claim has not been paid and each member of the claim team is not interested in fighting 3rd party insurers left feeling that i do not matter wonder what the attitude would be If i owed the company money?

Hi Mr Gallie, thanks for your feedback. As a broker, we don't negotiate claim settlement with the third party insurer. If you feel that your insurance company isn't acting in your best interests, please contact us by email on [email protected] so that we may refer your case to them. Adie@Cornmarket

Read the small print cancellation policy doesn't include their fee. Go to your bank saved over £120 less their fee of course. Still £80 up. My policy had not even started and at time of cancellation was over two weeks till it started.

Hi Jayson, thanks for your feedback. As an intermediary, we do charge fees for the various services we provide to our customers such as mid-term adjustment and cancellation - all of our fees and charges can be found in our Terms of Business document which is linked on policy arrangement emails as well as being accessible via our website at any time. If you could email us using [email protected] including your vehicle registration and/or postcode to allow us to look into this further, that would be great. Adie@Cornmarket

They messed up a mid term change to my policy and basically i had paid to have a motorcycle insured and several months later when I contacted them they had no record of it even though they took my payment, They are extremely difficult to get on the phone regarding motorcycle insurance and I have had to wait until the next day to make amendments even though i needed the insurance changed that day , I'll definitely not be using them again

I have just purchased an additional car along with my Jaguar XF. This is a Morris Minor 1964, I phoned Cornmarket and was given a quote so cheap and fully comp I nearly jumped over to Belfast to shake his hand. Again fantastic service from Cornmarket. I've been with them IAM Surety since they came to a IAM AGM in 2007. Always had excellent service (for the people reading this and my other Cornmarket reviews) (no I don't work for Cornmarket). Te.

Check the policy wording for charges

Check the policy wording, i had car and motorbike insurance cover. Changed my car on a Saturday lunchtime (Feb 23), their office wasn't open so had to pay for weekend cover from a 3rd party. On Monday was charged an admin fee to amend the policy. Cancelled my motorbike insurance (6 months cover remaining) was charged a £50 fee to cancel the policy. Have since renewed car insurance with Admiral, wont be using Cornmarket again.

Date of experience : April 04, 2023

Hi Dave, Thanks for your feedback. Sorry that you weren't able to speak with us on a Saturday afternoon - our team are available to handle calls until 12:30pm on Saturday (excluding bank holiday weekends). As a broker, we do charge fees for the services we provide and we make all customers aware of our fees and charges with a prominent hyperlink to our Terms of Business, sent when policies are arranged. We can see that Admiral charge £55.00 to cancel a car or motorcycle policy with 6 months remaining and a similar administration fee to CIS for policy changes (https://www.admiral.com/about-us/fees). Thanks for your custom and if you change your mind we welcome the chance to speak with you next year. Adie

If you're taking a trip through a travel agency, university, or other company, USI Affinity travel insurance is a travel insurance company worth considering.

Introduction to USI Affinity Travel Insurance

USI Affinity travel insurance' is a leading name in risk management and insurance, usually offering their services to other businesses, like law firms and hospitals. Though not necessarily its specialty, USI Affinity travel insurance also offers comprehensive travel insurance for a wide range of needs, including several medical-only travel insurance plans, annual travel insurance, and road trip policies.

Additionally, USI Affinity travel insurance's travel cancellation plans are some of the most flexible we've encountered. Its policies cover trips up to a year long and have functionally no age limit (the age limit is set at 119-years-old).

While USI Affinity travel insurance has one of the highest age caps we've seen for travel insurance, it's not only expensive relative to the best travel insurance companies for seniors , but generally expensive for all age groups. Additionally, USI Affinity travel insurance lacks adventure sports medical coverage, making this policy less attractive for younger travelers.

Plans Available from USI Affinity

USI Affinity travel insurance has three plans: Basic, Plus, and Elite. Basic offers lighter protection, with trip cancellation for trips that cost under $15,000 per person.

USI Affinity travel insurance also offers a multi-trip option called Voyager Annual Travel Insurance that provides primary t ravel medical insurance coverage for people taking multiple trips less than 30 days long throughout the year. This plan offers two tiers of coverage: Silver and Gold. Gold has higher coverage limits and some additional coverage, such as political and natural disaster evacuation that Silver lacks.

You can find the full plan breakdown here.

USI Affinity Additional Coverage Plans

Aside from the trip cancellation and annual travel insurance plans, USI Affinity offers several medical-only travel insurance plans that can last for up to 12 months. It also offers a road trip plan, that offers car-specific protections and other coverage you may need on a road trip.

WorldMed: Medical expense and evacuation insurance for people traveling outside their home country for five to 365 days.

InterMedical: Medical expense and evacuation insurance for people traveling outside the U.S. or their home country for five to 365 days.

VisitUSA-HealthCare: Travel medical insurance for visitors to the U.S. who need health insurance.

StudyUSA-HealthCare: Travel medical insurance for international students who are studying in the U.S.

Road Trip Insure: Road trip-specific protections like vehicle breakdown and disablement, vehicle return, and rental car damage.

USI Affinity Travel Insurance Cost

The premium you pay will depend on various factors, including the age of the travelers, destination, and total trip costs. The  average cost of travel insurance  is 4% to 8% of your travel costs.

After inputting some personal information, such as your age and state of residence, along with your trip details, like travel dates, destination, and trip costs, you'll get an instant quote for USI Affinity travel insurance plans available for your trip. And from there, it's easy to compare each option based on your coverage needs and budget.

Now let's look at a few examples to estimateUSI Affinity travel insurance coverage costs.

As of 2024, a 23-year-old from Illinois taking a week-long, $3,000 budget trip to Italy would have the following

travel insurance quotes:

  • Travel Insurance Select Basic: $126.60
  • Travel Insurance Select Plus: $158.70
  • Travel Insurance Select Elite: $229.50

Premiums for USI Affinity travel insurance plans are between 3.1% and 5.2% of the trip's cost, well within the average cost of travel insurance.

USI Affinity travel insurance provides the following quotes for a 30-year-old traveler from California heading to Japan for two weeks on a $4,000 trip:

  • Travel Insurance Select Basic: $168.80
  • Travel Insurance Select Plus: $211.60
  • Travel Insurance Select Elite: $306.00

Once again, premiums for USI Affinity travel insurance plans are between 4.2% and 7.65% of the trip's cost, within and below the expected range of travel insurance costs.

A Texas family consisting of two 40-year-old parents with a 10-year-old and 4-year-old on a two-week trip to Australia for $20,000:

  • Travel Insurance Select Basic: $847
  • Travel Insurance Select Plus: $1,204
  • Travel Insurance Select Elite: $1,570

Quotes for this trip cost between 4.2% and 7.85%, within the average cost of travel insurance.

A 65-year-old couple looking to escape New Jersey for Mexico for two weeks with a trip cost of $6,000 would have the following quotes:

  • Travel Insurance Select Basic: $520.20
  • Travel Insurance Select Plus: $571.20
  • Travel Insurance Select Elite: $828.60

Premiums for USI Affinity travel insurance plans for older-age travelers are between 8.7% and 13.8%, which is well within the average cost for travel insurance. While it's certainly more expensive than coverage for younger travelers, it's on the lower end of what travel insurance companies often quote for older travelers.

How to Purchase and Manage a USI Affinity Policy

To purchase a policy from USI Affinity travel insurance, you'll need to obtain a quote from its website. You'll need to be prepared to provide the following details about your trip:

  • State of residence
  • Destination country
  • Departure/Return dates
  • Initial deposit date and final payment date
  • Traveler(s) date of birth
  • Trip cost (per person)
  • Organization you're traveling with (if applicable)

Once you add this information, you'll be taken to the quotes page, where you will be able to add optional CFAR coverage to Plus and Elite policies. While you'll only be able to purchase insurance for trips under 90 days online, you can call customer service at 1-800-937-1387 if you want coverage for longer trips, up to one year.

Note: USI Affinity travel insurancepolicies have a 15-day look period in which you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund.

How to File a Claim with USI Affinity Travel Insurance

USI Affinity travel insurance makes it easy to file a claim through its website . On the website, it states, "To file a claim on your travel insurance plan, please download and print the appropriate claim form below, and submit it to the address indicated on the form" along with the following forms:

  • Accidental dismemberment claim form
  • Baggage claim form
  • Medical claim form
  • Rental collision claim form
  • Trip cancellation | trip interruption | travel delay | missed connection claim form

You can also call USI Affinity travel insurance at 1-855-874-0255 or email [email protected] .

You'll want to file claims as soon as possible, specifically if you're filing for a trip cancellation or interruption, to avoid non-covered charges due to late reporting.

USI Affinity Customer Service and Claims Experience

The majority of USI Affinity travel insurancereviews live on its SquareMouth page, receiving an average of 4.01 stars out of five. While recent customer reviews were very complimentary of both the buying and claims process at USI Affinity travel insurance, older reviews mention unprofessional and uncommunicative claims agents as well as long wait times.

The biggest concern isn't within the content of USI Affinity's reviews, but the fact that USI Affinity very rarely responds to customer reviews, while many of the best travel insurance companies will regularly respond to customers.

Compare USI Affinity Travel Insurance

Learn more about how USI Affinity Travel Insurance compares to the competition.

USI Affinity Travel Insurance vs Allianz Travel Insurance

Allianz Travel Insurance is a popular competitor to USI Affinity travel insurance as it serves 55 million travelers everywhere. Unlike USI Affinity travel insurance, Allianz Travel Insurance offers multiple plans to customize your trip's insurance plan. Allianz Travel Insurance has over 10 plans to choose from with different features. So you can choose what's best for you and your family. These plans include single trip, annual trip, and rental car insurance.

Another thing exclusive to Allianz Travel Insurance is its OneTrip Prime plan. It offers free coverage for travelers under 17 when traveling with a parent or grandparent. USI Affinity travel insurance makes no such claims.

Read our Allianz Travel Insurance review here.

USI Affinity Travel Insurance vs Trawick Travel Insurance

Another large competitor is Trawick International Travel Insurance . The company offers baggage protection for up to $2,000 compared to USI Affinity travel insurance's $300 or $500 coverage options.

According to the company website, Trawick International Travel Insurance also offers cruise insurance plans and adventure travel insurance covering over 500 different activities. It highlights benefits such as unlimited trip cancellation coverage.

Read our Trawick Travel Insurance review here.

USI Affinity vs Credit Card Travel Insurance

Credit cards can be a great alternative to USI Affinity travel insurance. Make sure your credit card offers travel insurance before your trip. Also, keep in mind, credit card travel protections may not be as comprehensive as an insurance policy.

For example, you might be able to get reimbursed for a flight on a credit card, but only if you paid for the flight with the credit card. If you paid for the flight in cash or with a debit card, your credit card isn't going to reimburse you. USI Affinity will. You just need to submit a form.

Having additional travel insurance is never a bad option. Some travelers have cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which offers baggage delay protection. USI could add medical coverage, AD&D, hotel and flight coverage after a covered event, and more. No matter what card you have, check to see what travel benefits your card offers. You can stack travel benefits to ensure you're covered for your trip as long as you use your credit card to purchase all your expenses.

Hi Lyne, thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear you found it easy to sort your insurance with us. Callum @ Cornmarket

HONESTY was definitely NOT…

In my case honesty was definitely NOT the best policy. I was brought up to be honest but a chap reversed into my car, damaging the bumper. He decided not to go through his insurance and pad cash to the garage. When getting my quote, I was asked if there’d been “any fault or non-fault incidences in last 5y” I feel I made a massive mistake by telling them of the incident mentioned above. After disclosure, my premium rose by nearly £35. I’m now considered a complete idiot for that disclosure by anyone I’ve told about it. They’re all like whatthef.. I rang them just now and spoke with CSAgent Steven, I was informed that ALL companies need to know of these ‘incidents’ Because I was honest, this affects my insurance for the next FIVE sodding years, so my advice to EVERYONE would be, if you’ve had an ‘incident’ like the one I’ve had, KEEP YOUR MOUTH FIRMLY SHUT!!

Very helpful with ideas to cut the premium…

Very helpful even suggested that with a tracker on the car the premium would halve thus saving me a lot of money. I recommend them.

Hi May Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am happy to hear we were able to help you with your home insurance this year. Callum @ Cornmarket

Priced out of IAM Surety market for me

I had experienced a competitive and pleasant service for decades through IAM Surety from Cornmarket. However cost escalated beyond anything affordable for my Velar with nothing else changed. I managed to find the money for another year but was then told the quote was a mistake and so had to sell a cherished vehicle without notice after five years. Direct Line proved far more competitive for a modest replacement. However Cornmarket did remain competitive for the GAP policy. Bitterly disappointed to lose Cornmarket after excellent and competitive cover for an experienced and Advanced motorist over all these years.

Date of experience : 20 January 2024

Hi there Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback. Although I can not discuss your insurance details on this forum, it is important to note that the insurance market has seen premiums increasing on average 60% from last year across the board. We always endeavour to offer our customers the best price policy, however - as a broker working with a select panel of underwriters - we are unable to guarantee this for every customer. I am sorry that we were unable to provide you with a competitive insurance quote this year. If you would like to discuss this further please email us at [email protected] Callum @ Cornmarket

Most expensive quote I have EVER received

I left Cornmarket last year, as their quote was unbelievably high. I am an IAM member, so they contacted me again this year to give me a quote which was 3 times the price of my present company’s renewal. I think they need to revise their strategy, as they seem biased against over-70 drivers, even with a clean record and maximum NCD. Shame on you, Cornmarket.

Date of experience : 08 December 2023

Hi Jayo I am sorry to hear this. Although I can not discuss the details of your policy here, I can say that unfortunately the insurance market is highly competitive and we can not always guarantee to be the cheapest. Lol what a joke you are will not be paying another penny .I did cancel my car insurance because I got a new car your price went through the roof I'm 56 and my niece who is 18 got cheaper insurance than me.also the person I talked to on the phone said that this month's payment will cover it and I won't pay anything else then I get an email saying klm have returned me £109.00 and that cornmarket have taken it towards the cancellation fee and want another £34.00 aswell.lol get stuffed.

Date of experience : 09 October 2023

Hi Michael, thanks for your feedback. In some cases, when customers pay monthly their total payments up to the point of cancellation aren't sufficient to cover their time on risk and cancellation administration fees (all of which are clearly outlined in our Terms of Business document and within the insurer's policy wording). As we're unable to discuss details specific to your policy with us, if you want to discuss this further please contact us by email using [email protected] (including a phone number) and we'll get back to you.
