Northumberland

Coach trips to northumberland.

Northumberland is England’s most northerly county and one of its most beautiful. Stretching from the vibrant city of Newcastle in the south to the Scottish Border in the North, this is a wild, romantic land, filled with history and natural beauty.

Northumberland is popular with visitors but rarely gets as crowded as other parts of the country meaning you can still find tranquility and peace during busier times of the year. Coach trips to Northumberland are an increasingly popular way to explore this fascinating and beautiful part of the country.

A Stunning North Sea Coast

Northumberland’s stunning coastline stretches for miles along the North Sea coast, combining sandy beaches and rugged cliffs. Picturesque coastal villages such as Seahouses, Craster and Bamburgh are great to explore, offering the chance to sample local seafood. Much of the coastline is contained in the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, offering walks with breathtaking views of the sea and countryside. At Bamburgh, the mighty castle on a rock by the beach is a dramatic fortress that visitors can explore.

A Fascinating History

As a border county, Northumberland has had a dramatic, sometimes bloody, history that has left its mark on the landscape. Alnwick Castle, a magnificent medieval fortress, has been featured in numerous films and TV series, including Harry Potter. Hadrian’s Wall, which once marked the northern boundary of the Roman Empire, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accessible by a causeway at low tide, Lindisfarne offers a sense of seclusion and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.

Northumberland is also dotted with charming market towns and villages steeped in history, such as Hexham and Corbridge, where visitors can wander through cobbled streets lined with historic buildings, visit local museums, and sample the local cuisine. Northumberland is also one of the best places to take in the night sky and is recognised as an International Dark Sky Park where light pollution is limited.

Exploring Northumberland by Coach

Coach trips to Northumberland offer a relaxing and enjoyable way to explore the diverse attractions and stunning landscapes of this fascinating region. With experienced guides and insightful commentary, travellers get to experience the best that Northumberland has to offer.

When you travel by coach, you can relax and enjoy the scenery without worrying about driving, parking or having to catch the train. Your driver will take you to some of the best attractions, towns, and historic sites, while you sit back and take in the view. Coach travel is also a highly environmentally friendly option, reducing the number of cars on the road and easing the pressure on the roads in popular tourist destinations.

Experience the beauty and history of Northumberland with Johnsons Coaches
