Champagne Day Trip from Paris Details

Description - what's on in champagne.

Join us for this exceptional Champagne Day Tour from Paris, home of the world’s most celebrated sparkling wine! We selected for you the best places to visit in Champagne, from the biggest houses, to a boutique winery, so you can enjoy all day long. Your English-speaking guide will drive you through the beautiful vineyards, and give you plenty of anecdotes about the secrets of Champagne, a place where the uniqueness of the soils combines with the climate and the expertise of the winemakers to produce the famous drink, symbol of celebration and elegance for centuries across the world.

Morning – Champagne the glamourous

We will pick you up at your hotel or apartment in the morning, and offer you delicious and buttery freshly baked croissants, while driving to Champagne (about 1h30).

As soon as you arrive in the vineyards, you will be struck by the beauty of the landscape as you are given precious information about the history of the region, its most important characters and the process of Champagne production.

Your day will start in style, with a guided tour through the maze of cellars of one of the biggest bubble producers , such as Champagne Moët & Chandon , Mumm , Lanson , Mercier … (depending on availability). Learn about their unique history and production, tasting their flagship cuvee with the house sommelier.

Following a short drive, depending on our schedule, discover the village of Hautvillers and its abbey, where Dom Pérignon used to work as a cellar master over 300 years ago and made Champagne . Learn more about this legendary character and about his influence on the style and reputation of the drink. Stop by the wonderful vineyard of Champagne and enjoy a “wild tasting” conducted by your wine expert guide. Through this very unique experience and the tasting of a special cuvee, you will learn all the secrets of this famous bubbly drink.

Lunch – Traditional and authentic!

For lunch, settle at the table of a family-run winery or a traditional restaurant, where you will enjoy a delicious Gourmet French lunch, paired perfectly with 3 different Champagnes.

Afternoon – Become a bubble expert

Last but not least, you will stop at a cooperative winery where they created a museum of the different tools used to produce Champagne… By the end of the day, you are guaranteed to be a bubbles expert! Of course, you will taste several Champagnes there.

After all these discoveries and emotions, your guide will bring you back to Paris and drop you in Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, at around 6PM (depending on traffic)

We took the Champagne tour and we’re beyond impressed with the experience. Our guide, Carlos, was very knowledgeable, kind, and safe on the roads. His expertise was much appreciated. We cannot recommend this tour enough. It is a must!

Elaine Levens

Words cannot express how wonderful our trip was. Our guide, Carlos, was great. He was well versed on the region and all the Champagne Houses we went to. We enjoyed touring three different houses as well as a surprise stop along the way. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone.

« We had an excellent day in the Champagne region of France thanks to My Winedays! Thomas, our guide, was knowledgeable and personable. Our visit to three Champagne houses gave us the opportunity to see a large, medium and small house. Our lunch at the smaller house was amazing! This was a great day! »

We had the best time with Carlos our tour guide who was so knowledgeable, friendly and added so much to the tour experience . We highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a day trip out of the city. The champagne tastings were incredible but the lunch was on another level !

We took a few tours while we were on our honeymoon in Europe and this was the best part of the trip hands down. The small group atmosphere was great and our guide Simone was amazing. The champagne we were able to try was amazing and the lunch provided was awesome as well. The only bad part of the trip was that it eventually had to end!

Day in champagne region

This day trip was fantastic- because our driver David was fabulous, as was the tour itself. We really loved the first house we visited, as it was informative and the champagne was excellent. Our lunch was excellent at the Continental, which is extra special because we are gluten free and usually we experience difficulty in this regard. The second champagne house was not as great as the first, but it was good. The tour guide at the second house showed us how to sabre open a bottle, which was cool. Personally, I didn’t care for it as much. It was a great day in the countryside of France, to see its beauty and colour. Rheims cathedral was beautiful! The van was clean and comfortable for the drive. David our driver was FABULOUS! You couldn’t ask for a better driver, polite, friendly, informative, welcoming….he made our experience that much better. He definitely was attentive to us, and providing extra help to another client with special needs. You are fortunate to have an employee such as him.

Excellent tour day with amazing guide!

We did our tour on Sep 9 and visited two champagne houses. Thomas, our driver, was patient, kind and helpful. Virginie, our guide, was fantastic! She made sure we had a great time, and worked patiently around a bubbly group of enthusiastic friends. She kept us on schedule without pushing, making sure we experienced and learned what the beautiful region had to offer. She took care of every detail so we could just enjoy, I highly recommend the tour guy and their team. Thank you Virginie, for a wonderful time!

Virginie set the stage for the girls Paris getaway

The Tour Guy was not only extremely accommodating with the requests of 6 girls coming from different parts of the world and in addition to this the level of communication and professionalism was class A. Our tour coordinator/guide in Paris (Virginie) was kind, thoughtful and Professional. She helped the Group stay on schedule and the day was totally uneventful. Best way to spent my Bday with amazing friends while sipping champagne in one of the most beautiful sceneries in France. We as a group learned plenty about the process of Champagne making and walked away with valuable tips. Highly appreciated! Liza Ávila

  • The Best tours of Champagne from Paris will NOT be cheap . Yeah, Champagne is very high-quality (read expensive) and so, many of these tours reflect that fact. So, expect to spend $300+ per person if you want to do a tour like this.
  • SPLURGE on a top-notch tour. Honestly, I am pretty conservative with my spending. So, upwards of $300 for a tour is VERY steep for me. However, I truly feel that in this instance, the higher price is justified. So, treat yo self if you adore wine like me, and book a luxe tour.
  • It takes about 1.5 hours to drive to Champagne . So, plan on spending a minimum of three hours in the car (or train) if you book this tour.
  • Given the high price of the tours and the wines offered, refunds are generally not offered if you cancel the tour last minute. So, please please solidify your plans before you book a tour from Paris to Champagne so that you DON’T lose your hard-earned $$$.

My #1 pick 🏆 for the best tour to Champagne 🥂 from Paris is this Day Trip to Champagne that includes 8 tastings and a full lunch . It’s well-priced, all-inclusive, and led by a real expert, so well worth the money 💰 you spend.

Now, here’s an interesting tour to mull over.

After all, this Champagne Region Private Day Trip from Paris is easily one of the most budget-friendly private Champagne tours near Paris. And I dunno about you but I am all about saving those $$$.

Anyway, the price per head is crazy cheap for a private tour to Champagne from Paris if you can fill those seats.

Although, you need to note that the price of the tour does not include any Champagne tastings – which I personally think is ridiculous for a Champagne tour but I digress.

Therefore, you’re just paying for the private transport and expert guide service.

As with the previous private tours, you’ll visit one famous Champagne house plus a smaller producer near Reims and Épernay.

“We visited a small champagne house first before proceeding to Moet and Chandon. Phillipe the tour organiser was very gracious and is the one who suggested the small champagne house as well a restaurant for lunch. Being from the region, he knew everything and advised us what to do and what to see. He even took us by the church where Dom Perignon was a monk as a bonus! The car was a six seater Mercedes and very comfortable. I highly recommend champagne tours with Phillipe.” Jem ( read more reviews now )

While there, you’ll enjoy a tour of the cellars that might be shared with other tourists – particularly at the big estate. And, it’s up to you whether you pay for a tasting.

I personally would since I feel like that is kind of the whole point of one of the best tours of Champagne from Paris but that is just me.

So, this tour is perfect for groups where not everyone drinks. Seeing as the landscape is divine and the excursion is really informative, it’s still an epic day out.

Ultimately, this setup could totally work for families or groups with non-drinkers.

So, after boarding the train at Gare de L’est station, you’ll speed toward Champagne Ardenne. Once in this bucolic region, you’ll swap your train for a van.

“Michele was an incredible host and guide. Not only did we have a truly memorable time but we learned a lot, met some fantastic people, had a lovely lunch, bought a lot of champagne, and snagged some amazing restaurant recommendations to round out our trip. Now, one of your major destinations will be a household producer. Such as, Pommery or Veuve Clicquot House.

In that case, the next best thing is to book one of the most exclusive Champagne tours in Paris. Now, this French Wine and Champagne Tasting in Paris gives you a couple of options.

However, my fave is the wine and Champagne masterclass served with either cheese, charcuterie, or both. Or, you can save some pennies with the food-free option.

And since I adore food, I am 100% not a fan of that idea. After all, this is France and really you should take any opportunity to gorge on le fromage while you can.

“Our Sommelier was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and a fun host! We enjoyed hearing about the different regions in France and the wines produced there. All of the wines we tried were delicious. I highly recommend doing this if you have time while you are in Paris.” Alyson ( read more reviews now )

Essentially, the class takes place in an atmospheric wine cellar beneath some of the most famous streets in Paris .

There, you’ll sip on six divine wines from regions like Bordeaux, Sancerre, and –obviously – Champagne. You’ll also learn all about these incredible vinos from your sommelier.

We’re rounding off this list with one final Champagne tour in Paris and you’ll need your sea legs for this one.

Well, okay, your river legs since this Champagne Tasting on a Seine River Cruise lasts an hour and takes you on the Seine River as the name suggests.

Led by an expert sommelier, you’ll sample three different Champagnes as your luxurious boat floats past the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Grand Palais, and the Musée d’Orsay.

Plus, it takes place just before dusk or at night, depending on the season. Therefore, you’ll get to see Paris in the soft evening light or illuminated all around you.

Then, after one of the best champagne tours in Paris, you can grab dinner at a place specifically recommended to you by your expert, local guide.

Note, the vessel is a small river barge – not a giant ferry. This means that you’ll enjoy a nice, cozy vibe while onboard that is perfectly suited for asking questions and mingling with other travelers.

And, remember, if you like what you taste then you can pick up a bottle of Champers to take back to your hotel as an epic Paris souvenir . Ooh la la!

7 Tips for a Day Trip to Champagne from Paris

champagne tours france from paris

Champagne is synonymous with France. After all, the bubbly glasses of goodness originated in northern France and only sparkling wine from that region can bear the prestigious title of “Champagne.” Visiting the home of one of the most famous drinks in the world was at the top of my life long list of dreams, so on our last day in Paris—and the final day of our trip to Spain and France — we took a day trip to Champagne from Paris.

Tasting a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne in Reims, France.

I had visions of sipping fizzy Champagne all day and wandering around the historical region without a care in the world, but the reality was much different. We didn’t realize the region was divided into two cities (and arrived in one when we had a tour scheduled in another), among other bumps in the road. So learn from our mistakes!

Glasses of Moët & Chandon Champagne at Moët & Chandon Champagne House in Epernay, France.

1. The Champagne region is about an hour’s train ride from Paris.

The easiest way to Champagne from Paris is to take the high speed TGV train . The region’s two major centers are Reims and Épernay (more on that below) and the train stops in Reims (45 minutes away, about 15€) or Épernay (75 minutes, about 22€). Trains run back and forth all day and tickets can be purchased at the station before boarding or in advance online here .

champagne tours france from paris

2. Champagne is made up of 5 small areas, but stick to Reims and/or Épernay.

All five regions of Champagne produce sparkling wine, but the towns of Reims and Épernay are the centers of the area. A note of caution: Reims and Épernay are not that close together! We made the mistake of taking a cab from Reims to Epernay and it cost us around 100€!

If you want to see both regions, jump back on the train. It’s an inexpensive 9€ and is much quicker (about a half hour on the TGV high speed train ) than taking a cab or the bus.

A row of Veuve Clicquot Champagne glasses at Veuve Clicquot in Champagne, France.

3. Épernay is like Sonoma while Reims is like Napa.

After our 100€ cab ride to Épernay to tour the Moët & Chandon caves, we made the best of being in the other city and visited a smaller Champagne House (what the wineries are called), called Georges Cartier . Georges Cartier is a smaller winery that doesn’t export to the United States so we’d never get to taste it stateside. We got one-on-one attention and a private tasting of their entire line of Champagnes.

We wandered around Épernay for the rest of the morning (yes, our Moët & Chandon tour was at 9:45 a.m.) and enjoyed the peaceful, small town. It felt a lot like Sonoma. When we finally explored the much larger, more touristy Reims (where we toured Veuve Clicquot ), it reminded both of us of the more touristy Napa. That’s not good or bad, just worth mentioning for those who have been to California’s wine region and have a strong preference for one side over the other.  But…

The caves aging thousands of bottles of Moët & Chandon Champagne in Reims, France.

4. Wine tasting in Champagne isn’t like it is in California.

If you’ve been wine tasting in California, you know that wineries welcome visitors to drink, relax and oftentimes eat. In Champagne, most wineries obviously want visitors and they want you to try their wines, but none of the houses we visited offered any food (which can become a problem after drinking Champagne all day!) and often shuffled us to move on after our tours. In Napa and Sonoma, I felt like I could spend all day relaxing at the wineries but in Champagne I felt like they wanted me to buy a bottle and move on.

Another major difference: Champagne is aged in underground caves so most of the tours take visitors underground to natural vaults created by chalk and/or limestone quarries, some dug out during the Roman times. It’s incredibly impressive. But keep that in mind when deciding your attire because the caves can get chilly!

champagne tours france from paris

5. Research what Champagne Houses you want to visit beforehand.

There are a ton of Champagne Houses in the region, so have an idea which ones you want to visit before you go.  This will help decide if to go Reims, Épernay or both. Épernay is home to Mercier, Moët & Chandon (open since 1743!) who also owns Dom Pérignon; while Reims hosts Veuve Clicquot (1772), Mumm (1827) and Tattinger (1734). Wikipedia has a helpful list of houses here or Reims Tourism lists houses . Reservations can be made at most Champagne houses online beforehand.

Bonus tip: With good food comes good wine. In the case of Champagne, it’s the opposite: with good wine, comes good food.  Champagne is home to a dozen Michelin-rated restaurants, so make reservations for those before heading there, too.

champagne tours france from paris

6. The region has an incredible past so don’t forget to indulge in history, too.

Because of its geographical position between many different countries, the region has seen a lot of history, particularly in the form of war. The Romans defeated the Huns in Champagne in 451 A.D., many battles of the Hundred Years’ War took place there, and it was bombed repeatedly during both World Wars. In fact, the caves of Veuve Clicquot were once used as a hospital during World War I and the remnants of a hospital cross are still visible on the cave walls. And Reims is actually the place where Eisenhower and the Allies received the German surrender on May 7, 1945.

Reims is also home to the Notre Dame de Rems Cathedral, where the coronation of every French king has taken place, and the Abbey of Saint Remi, the largest Romanesque pilgrimage church in northern France.

champagne tours france from paris

7.  Consider taking a guided tour.

We managed to visit the Champagne region on our own, doing a lot of research beforehand. We pulled it off, but not without some hiccups (like the 100€ cab ride). At the end of the day when we were exhausted from getting lost, we wished we would have signed up with a guided tour.

There are plenty online and I’m sure they are all much easier and less stressful than doing it on your own! This Champagne tour and this day trip are the closest to what we did, visiting both Reims and Épernay. Or this one is just Reims while this tour is just Épernay (including Moët & Chandon).

Champagne is such a contrast from Paris.  It’s definitely worth dedicating a day to explore the countryside and taste France’s most famous drink.  While parts of our day trip to Champagne was hectic, it was a sparkling end to an amazing trip through Spain and France .

Can you please post the link for the correct train from Paris? I tried to click it and it didn’t work. Thanks!

Hi Kelli- Thank you for posting this. Very helpful! Question: You mentioned a lot of walking. Is it customary to dress up at the Champagne Houses like it is in Napa/Sonoma? What would you recommend wearing?

' src=

Hi Brooke – thanks for reading and mentioning the broken link. It’s been fixed! As for wardrobe, that’s a tough call. I don’t think you need to dress up, but nothing too casual or sloppy. Wear shoes you can walk on cobblestone and stone (possibly damp) stairs, and remember the caves might be a little chilly.

Cheers, Kelli

Hi Kelli! My husband and I are planning to take the train from Paris to Reims. We’re planning to take taxis from the train station, to champagne houses. From champagne house to champagne house do you think it will be difficult to hail a taxi? Or are there taxis located at each champagne house?

Hi Jordan – thanks for reading. I can’t say for certain. When I was there, taxis were not readily available. It may be best to reach out to the Champagne houses to ask them if they have taxi stands nearby or can call a taxi for you.

' src=

Hi Kelli, thanks for sharing your experience. To get from the Champagne Houses, was it easy to hail a taxi or transportation? I’m concerned about transformation if my family does a DIY day trip from Paris, versus a tour.

I recommend a guided tour. The taxi from Paris was over 100€. The train was much cheaper, but navigating the bus and public transit once you’re in the Champagne region might be tricky.

' src=

Hi there! I found this so helpful but I had a question. I’m going on my honeymoon in September and wanted to visit multiple places and buy extra bottles at each. Is it possible to bring a wine luggage bag from place to place during tours? Thanks!

' src=

Hi Kelli! I enjoyed reading this blog. I’m flying to Paris this June and I hope to take a day trip to the Champagne Region. You just inspired me to go to Epernay to visit the Moet and Chandon Cellars. One small question though, if I took the train to Epernay, what would be the best way to commute to Moet and Chandon? And anywhere there?

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for reading my blog. I think you’d be fine to take a cab from the train station to Moet & Chandon or it might even be possible to walk. I don’t remember exactly, so I don’t want to tell you for certain, but I think we walked there from the train. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help! Have fun and let me know how it goes! Cheers, Kelli

' src=

Very helpful post. I’ll be there end of June and can’t decide if we should take the train and cabs to the Champagne Houses or take a tour. I really want to go to both Moet and Veuve but I’m having trouble finding a tour that goes to both so may have to train it and hope for the best! Did you find the trains easy to navigate? If you know of any tours that do both, please let me know!

Hi Liz, Thanks for reading! The trains were pretty easy to navigate, but I’d recommend giving yourself some extra time in case you can’t find the platform or anything like that. I don’t know of any tours that do both. If you find any, please let me know! Thank you and have fun! – Kelli

' src=

Thanks Kelli, Enjoyed your blog, I would like to do a tour of the trip but, it is expensive, so we are going to do it the hard way, on our own. We will be in Paris in a few weeks, and staying in the 4th arrondissment, what are other places worth exploring outside of paris apart from the usual tourist places in Paris. Appreciate your tips. Thanking you

Thank you! Other than Champagne, we went to the Palace of Versailles, a little outside of Paris. It was extremely touristy and very crowded, so it wasn’t my favorite place but I’m glad I experienced it. Other than that, I didn’t venture too far from Paris, although I wish I had. Sorry I can’t be of more help! If you discover somewhere interesting, I’d love to hear about it! Cheers and safe travels! – Kelli

' src=

Excellent, thanks for the tips and comparisons to Napa/Sonoma. This helps a lot for an upcoming trip!

' src=

Thanks for all the tips! Looking forward to going NEXT MONTH and doing all my research now XO

' src=

Hi, Loved this post, it has been super helpful for planning my trip to Reims/Epernay. I was wondering how much it cost to tour the different champagne houses? Also do you have any restaurant recommendations for lunch while there?

Thanks for reading! The tours vary by location, but they aren’t very expensive. For example, Moet & Chandon was around 30€. (Here’s how to request a tour and more info: http://us.moet.com/Visit-us/Visit-our-cellars ). As for eating, I know there are a lot of great restaurants in the region (including Michelin-rated places) but I didn’t eat anywhere worth noting so I personally can’t recommend any. Sorry! Enjoy France!!

' src=

Hi Kelly, Thanks for the great post! If we took the train to Reims, are the tasting houses along the streets like in Napa? We won’t have a lot of time to take cabs out to vineyards if they are far from the train station. Is there enough to do walking around town? Or do you reccomend traveling out of town? Trying to picture what it’s like. Thanks so much! Always enjoy reading your posts:) -Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, We walked around in Reims and found stuff to do, but everything isn’t as close as I would have liked. It’s a cute little town though, so you should be entertained there. Have fun! – Kelli

Are Champagne Tours From Paris Worth It? (Ultimate Guide)

Some of the most popular things to do in Paris are Champagne tours and day trips. But are they really worth it?

Typically, you pay a lot of money for the excursion. So naturally you’ll want to make sure that you are getting your money’s worth.

Luckily for you, I have done such trips and know all about it. In short: Yes, Champagne day trips are worth it! But surely not all of them.

One day is not a lot of time to see the Champagne region, so you’ll need to pick a really great tour to make the most of it. And I am here to help you pick!

Let’s get to it!

Are (luxury) champagne tours worth it my take on it, paris day tours to champagne vs. champagne holiday, champagne day trip with 6 tastings, reims cathedral & family winery from paris, champagne vip day trip from paris with local wine expert private, booking a guided tour vs. self-organized, private luxury vs. group tours, best time to visit the champagne region, conclusion: are champagne tours from paris worth it.

I have done Champagne day trips and also visited the region by myself. And I can definitely recommend booking a day trip to Champagne from Paris if you have the time.

The Champagne is definitely worth seeing, and tasting some of the bubbly should be on your Paris bucket list for sure.

The region is just more than an hour outside of Paris, so if you have a couple of days you should reserve a day for this. I am not a fan of self-organizing a one-day trip (read below why) so I would definitely book with a provider.

But keep in mind that some of these tours offered online only visit one or two wineries that are usually not family-owned.

So it can be a bit hard to find good tours, that will provide you a good inside into the region, and not just a superficial touristic program.

Find below two tours that I think are definitely worth it when thinking about going to Champagne.

Private VIP Champagne Day Trip from Paris

  • Expert Guide
  • Visit to famous wineries (Pommery & Veuve Cliquot)

If I had to choose between visiting Champagne on a day trip from Paris or going on a designated holiday to Champagne I would pick the latter.

I think one day is barely enough to get a good glimpse of the region, so I would definitely opt for a full-blown holiday instead of a day trip.

If you have the time, combine your Paris vacation with a multi-day trip to Champagne. You’ll want to soak up the charm of the region without being rushed from A to B.

However, going for one day is better than not going at all, so I would definitely say that Champagne is worth visiting, even for a day.

🤩 5/5 Stars (440 Reviews)

Duration : 11 hours

Included : 6 glasses of Champagne, Tour of two wineries, local guide

Overall, this Champagne Day Trip from Paris is my first choice when looking for a great guided excursion.

There are two different wineries included in this trip, one of them the famous Nicolas Feuillatte. The second visit will be to a local family-owned winery.

I totally appreciate that you will get to see a bigger estate and a smaller one, to get a true feeling of the region.

Also included in this trip is a visit to the beautiful Reims Cathedral, which is another added bonus.

Lastly, you will stop by the gravestone of Dom Perignon, an important cultural site for Champagne lovers.

The group size is limited to 8 people, which is perfect in my opinion.

There is nothing not to love about this day tour to Champagne from Paris.

🤩 5/5 Stars (30 Reviews)

Included : Lunch, Visits to several wineries (including Pommery and Veuve Cliquot)

As far as private excursions to Champagne go, this Champagne VIP Day Trip from Paris is my favorite. This Champagne Tour is definitely worth it.

This tour has everything included that you could possibly need: a private guide who is also a vineyard owner, visits to the most esteemed wineries, and a traditional French lunch.

The best thing about it is you can enjoy it without having to be part of a bigger group!

Obviously, private tours come with a price tag. Since you can bring a couple of people on this trip, I feel the price is quite right.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with this day trip – especially since you can always amend the itinerary to your preferences.

beautiful cherry blossom in front of gothic church in ay de champagne

There are both pros and cons to booking a guided tour to the Champagne area from Paris versus organizing a day trip there yourself.

While organized tours are generally a little bit more expensive, they have a lot of perks.

The fact that you won’t need to worry about transportation is the biggest one.

Going from Paris to Epernay or Reims by train is easy. Getting around there not so much. Especially between the little villages of the Champagne Region, there is no proper public transport.

Another big perk is availability. Bigger Champagne houses are usually booked up way in advance. Going on a guided tour can help you there for sure since they always have slots on reserve.

The same goes for lunch restaurants. We had such a hard time finding available spots – you won’t have to look around on a guided tour.

Lastly, you’ll want to have a drink or two on this tour. It helps to have a reliable driver or tour guide to take care of the organization and the driving . There is no fun in tipsily trying to navigate back to Paris by yourself.

10 different champagne bottles on a wall next to each other

Of course, there are pros and cons to going with a smaller group or booking a private tour. There are a lot of private tours from Paris to Champagne, and you are probably wondering by now if they are worth it.

Generally, I think it is always worth splurging for a private trip if you are more than two people. This way, you barely pay more than in a group tour.

One thing to be cautious of when booking private luxury tours from Paris to Champagne is these tours that only include the driver. You’ll want a local guide to show you around, and not just a chauffeur that drops you off.

The private tour I suggested above definitely includes a great wine expert who can teach you a lot on your tour. I would say it is worth the money.

Every season in the Champagne region has a different charm.

Especially summer and autumn are considered the peak season in Champagne. Autumn is harvest season, with many festivities and attractions. Both summer and autumn are the most crowded.

I prefer visiting the Champagne region in spring . The weather is usually lovely and the area is a lot more quiet.

France of course is also always a great destination for a Christmas weekend getaway.

In this post you learned about my favorite Day Trips to the Champagne region from Paris and why they are worth it.

Champagne should definitely be on your Paris itinerary, so make sure to put a day trip on your bucket list.

The Champagne Day Trip with 6 Tastings, Reims Cathedral & Family Winery from Paris definitely wins this competition hands down. It is one of the most frequently booked trips out there, and the reviews are raving!

If you prefer booking a private trip, I have also found several great tours for every taste and budget.

If one day in Champagne is not enough, I suggest checking out my 3 Days in Champagne Itinerary.

Another great region in France that wine lovers will absolutely cherish is the Alsace. Their sparkling wine is just as unique, and the Alsace region is great for a road trip.

Yes, Champagne is definitely worth visiting. The region offers beautiful landscapes, fantastic sparkling wine, and delicious cuisine. It is one of the most interesting regions in France, for wine lovers and other travelers alike.

Yes, you can do a day trip to Champagne from Paris. The Champagne region is about two hours outside of Paris, so you can conveniently go there for just a day with an organized group tour or by train or car.

Epernay is for many people better than Reims. The city of Epernay is where many of the most famous Champagne houses are located. It has a certain charm and uniqueness to it, that Reims does not have. While Reims has some beautiful landmarks, the city itself is not as beautiful.

The Champagne region is about 145 km (90 m) outside of Paris. It will take you around 2 hours to drive to Champagne with a car. The train takes about two hours and is a convenient way to get there.

Private Champagne Tours

Paris Luxury Tours offers two private guided Champagne tours.
France visitors can choose from either our Classic France Champagne tours or our much more expensive Super Luxury Escorted Champagne excursions. Both are private and both provide clients with an exceptional in-depth look at the terroir of Champagne and what makes sparkling wine in Champagne the unique drink that it is.

For an even deeper immersion in the wines of Champagne, consider our Two Day Tour of Champagne, which entails one over-night and is found in our over-night wine tours section.

champagne-tours-france

With our Champagne tours, France visitors can count on having memorably delightful excursions. In both Champagne tours, France visitors will experience privileged visits at two of the most informative and enjoyable Champagne houses who also make superb wine.  Their doors are not always open to the public but you will be received by a member of their staff who will take you through their infrastructure and explain the improbably complex process of making fine sparkling wine in Champagne.

Classic France Champagne Tours

With a two hour drive east of Paris, our classic France Champagne tours take you on enchanting journeys through Champagne. Home of the fabled drink, site of one of France’s great Gothic cathedrals in Reims, Champagne has countryside so cultivated and groomed that you will hardly recognise it as agriculture. Our France Champagne tours are led by guides who speak English as natural first language, who have expert knowledge of the wines of Champagne and how they are produced. During the drive, if you wish, our guide will explain clearly in simple terms what makes the terroir and therefore the grapes of Champagne unique and nearly impossible to replicate anywhere else in the world.

Of its roughly 5,000 vintners, you will visit two of the finest in Champagne, one in the morning and the second in the afternoon. Among our favorites to visit are: Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot and Lanson in Reims, Gosset and Moët & Chandon in Epernay, Deutz, Bollinger and Henri Giraud in Aÿ and Philipponnat in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. If you book many months in advance, we may be able to book you at Krug in Reims, Billecart Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ or Perrier-Jouët in Epernay. Some visits take place partly many meters underground in Gallo-Roman “crayeres” (quarries from which Roman builders extracted blocks of chalk to build their towns). They include some of the most sumptuous and informative champagne tours available.

After your morning wine estate visit, depending on where you choose to have lunch, we may drive you over the ‘Reims Mountain,’ across the Marne River Valley, to the Côte des Blancs. We can help you choose from a wide selection of excellent dining options, such as brasseries like Boulingrin, Flo and Le Jardin in Reims or Le Bellevue in Champillon and La Table Kobus in Epernay. You can also consider one of the Michelin single, double and triple star restaurants of which there is a constellation of choice in Tinqueux, Reims, Montchenot and Epernay.

Following your second Champagne house visit in the afternoon, our Classic Paris Luxury Tour of Champagne might take you to the picture postcard village of Hautvillers, where the monk who allegedly ‘invented’ Champagne lived and worked in its abbey, Dom Perignon. From there you will have a breath-taking view of some of the finest pinot noir vineyards that slope southward toward Epernay in the distance. We can stop at the abbey church, where Doms Perignon and Ruinart are entombed.

At the end of this tour, we will drive you through some 30 kilometers of pinot noir vineyards, many grand cru, on the south-facing slopes of the Marne River Valley where you will be able to admire Veuve Clicquot’s Chateau de Boursault from a distance, before we conclude our trip by re-joining the A4 auto-route back to Paris.

Super Luxury Champagne Tours France

For our most sumptuous private Champagne tours, France visitors are collected in a Mercedes Class S sedan (or equivalent) to travel in a more luxurious way. In addition to the Champagne wine tour details given above, guests of this excursion will be received privately at each of the two Champagne houses with their own personal guide, and they will enjoy a multi-course lunch that is prepared by a renowned French chef. Your chef chooses a unique Champagne wine to not only accompany each course, but also to inspire the selection of ingredients, composition and preparation of each course, ensuring perfect harmony between the dish and the wine that accompanies it. Add the further requirements that the components be organically produced and in-season to complete the picture of a truly memorable meal.

Interested In Our exquisite private Champagne tours?

The price of our private Super Luxury Champagne Tour is distinctly more expensive, reflecting its inclusions. We will provide a quotation when you give us the date on which you wish to schedule it. That is because the chefs who have the talent required to prepare your individually conceived multi-course meal are not always available.

Forget Paris, Champagne Is the Ultimate Summer Fashion Destination

Thanks to Uber, a quick jaunt to French wine country is just a little over $200 away this summer.

Emily in Paris has nothing on Jonathan in Champagne. In mid-May, I had the privilege of traveling from New York City to Champagne, France, the historic European province known for producing the deliciously sparkling, celebratory wine popped on special occasions the world over. For Champagne to be Champagne, it must be from Champagne , and what better way to learn about Champagne than from the people of Champagne? As a person who very much enjoys an alcoholic beverage (or two, or three...), a couple of days spent drinking and dining in the region was heaven—and I picked up a few travel tips along the way so you, too, can recreate this fantasy of a trip.

In case you didn't know, Uber—yes, the ride-shape app used to safely get you from point A to point B when driving isn't an option—offers a "Go Anywhere" experience that's basically a travel agent at your fingertips. The company has hosted previous excursions in Cappadocia, Turkey; Lapland, Finland; and Mykonos, Greece. Beginning June 1, for just €200, anyone with access to Uber Reserve can say yes to a one-day excursion from Paris to France's Champagne countryside for a pre-scheduled itinerary of experiences that'll make you feel like you're on a honeymoon, even if it's really just you and up to four of your best friends.

Available to book 75 days to 24 hours in advance for Fridays or Saturdays beginning June 7 to August 17, the bubbly experience is luxurious, one-of-a-kind, and (surprisingly) affordable. Below is everything you need to know about booking your own Uber Bubbles excursion.

How to Book Uber Bubbles

Beginning June 1, Uber users in Paris will be able to book the Uber Bubbles experience —for a €200 flat fee—the same way you'd go about booking a car to get yourself (or a loved one) home. In Paris for the Olympics? Or touring the City of Light for an idyllic summer getaway? Simply follow these steps to get to Champagne, look for an Uber Bubbles-branded Tesla with a French, lovely driver awaiting, and prepare to get your sip on. Oh, and the best part? Up to four travelers can join your party, so there is no need to toast solo.

As Uber suggests:

  • "Download the Uber app on your smartphone and open the app.
  • Select the ‘Uber Bubbles’ icon from the home screen.
  • Read about Uber Bubbles and then choose one of the available dates listed.
  • Enter your pickup and dropoff locations.
  • Make sure everything looks right and click ‘Reserve Uber Bubbles’
  • Check your email to ensure you received a confirmation email.
  • Within the confirmation email, click on the Google form and respond to each question to ensure the maisons are ready for your reservation.
  • Enjoy responsibly!"

The Uber Bubbles Itinerary

A visit to Champagne, France, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and Uber has hooked it up with the unforgettable. As part of the €200 event, your one-day trip will include a Champagne tasting and lunch at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque in Épernay, followed by a visit to the G.H. Mumm cellars and a Cordon Rogue tasting in Reims (Épernay and Reims are in the Champagne region). The folks at both Perrier and Mumm will fill you in on the rich history of the region and both respective brands—trust me, it's fascinating, especially once you're several rounds of bubbly in.

Ubber Bubbles Teslas

The Uber staff available for Uber Bubbles will predominantly speak English, in case you're like me and only know how to say "bonjour!" and "au revoir!"

Where to Stay in Champagne

While the Uber Bubbles experience is designed as a one-day, roundtrip adventure from Paris to Champagne and back, there's no reason you can't extend your visit to Champagne. I highly recommend catching R&R at Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa, a dreamy venue that's earned Forbes 's coveted five-star rating, plus a spot on Conde Nast Traveler' s top 10 French hotels of 2023. Listen, the place is swanky, and for at least ~€800 a night, I can assure you it's well worth the investment.

Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa

If I could turn back time, I'd pretend I were in The White Lotus and run amuck at this hotel. Mainly, I slept.

The Champagne Countryside

Yes, French wine country looks like the set of a Nancy Meyers film. Yes, there are endless photo opps.

Brasserie le Jardin

Should you spend a night or several in Champagne, dine at Brasserie le Jardin at the footsteps of Domaine Les Crayeres, a luxury hotel in Reims. Recreate this picture and tag me.

Lunch at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque

In addition to a tasting of three Perrier-Jouët’s cuvées, the midday stop here includes the following delish meal:

  • Starter: marinated salmon, cucumber, and almond cream.
  • Main course: local roasted chicken filet.
  • Dessert: spring pavlova.
  • Petit four: financier infused with honey from the garden.

The G.H. Mumm Cellar

A tour through the Mumm cellar offers insight into the several-hundred-year-old tradition of making Champagne.

I Love Champagne

As goofy as this photo is, learning about just how passionate the people of Champagne are about the product they collectively produce was inspiring. At Perrier-Jouët, I caught up on the intricacies of delicately bottling Champagne. Perrier's cellar contains the oldest two Perrier Champagne bottles on Earth, which date back to 1825.

Perrier-Jouët Bottles

2004 was a particularly good year for Champagne makers, hence why you'll often see Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2004 at luxury restaurants across the globe. While Perrier's cellars are not open to the public, tasting the three Perrier-Jouët’s cuvées included in the Uber Bubbles experience will make you feel like a royal.

Uber’s New Champagne Tour Is A Bubbly Escape From Paris For Only €200

As if you needed another reason to visit France this summer.

Over the past couple of months, nearly every person I follow on Instagram has gone to Europe (mostly because they scored Eras Tour tickets across the Atlantic , but there have definitely been others as well). With the Paris Olympics coming up in July, plus the return of Netflix’s Emily in Paris the following month, it’s only the beginning of IG’s seasonal Euro-fication.

I’m also guilty of this. At the end of May, I traveled to Paris to get a first-hand experience of Uber Bubbles , an all-new day trip excursion to France’s Champagne region that will be bookable to everyone in Paris via the Uber app starting Saturday, June 1. The tours are available every Friday and Saturday, from June 7 to Aug. 17.

The all-inclusive trip includes a ride from Paris to the Champagne region (and back!), plus tastings at two different champagne maisons, or houses: one will include a top-tier lunch at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque ; the other, a cellar tour at Maison G.H. Mumm .

Whether you’re in it for the champagne and food, the gorgeous views of the French countryside, or the brief escape from the chaos of the city — or all three — consider this a cure-all for any jet-lag-induced ennui.

The bar at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque is one of the stops on the Uber Bubbles tour.

The silver (or gold or bronze) lining: It costs a flat fee of €200 (~$218) total. Since each Uber Bubbles reservation can accommodate a maximum of four people, your grand total could be as low as €50 (~$55) per person. Plus, with Uber Reserve, there’s some flexibility. You can book up to 75 days in advance or opt for a last-minute trip 24 hours ahead of time — as long as there’s still availability.

I Tried The New Uber Bubbles Experience & It’s Luxe

The Uber Bubbles experience starts in Paris, where a Tesla picks you up from your choice location in the morning. (The cars all have huge Uber Bubbles stickers on them, so you can’t miss ‘em.)

Sit back and relax for your two-ish hour journey to the town of Épernay, where you’ll stop at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque to taste three cuvées and enjoy lunch — and I mean *enjoy*. The menu was full of light bites, paired perfectly with champagne.

My personal favorite was the marinated salmon with cucumber and almond cream, paired with Perrier-Jouët’s Blason Rosé. (JSYK, the seasonal menu will have different offerings for the summer. Fear not, the French know how to cook, summer or spring.)

The bar at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque is one of the stops on the Uber Bubbles tour.

Épernay is also home to the famous Avenue de Champagne , a street full of gorgeous champagne maisons, perfect for any IG photoshoot. (You’re in France — might as well!) Your driver will be with you the whole day, so you don’t have to stress about leaving your bags in the car or missing a pickup window. In other words, feel free to pose and post to your heart’s content.

Following your lunch, your driver will drive you about 45 minutes to Maison G.H. Mumm in Reims for a cellar tour, where you’ll learn about the champagne-making process and the history of Mumm — plus, their plans to pop champagne in space . (Turns out, bubbles are tricky when there’s no gravity, but they’re working on it.)

The tour is the perfect dose of info to make you feel smart, even when you’re three glasses of champagne deep. It was a bit like an episode of The Magic School Bus , but a 21+ version. For example, did you know that each cork needs to twist six times? Or that the bottles have to be rotated at specific angles for the process to work? Or that the bottles are all stacked like a very shatter-prone game of Jenga? Now you do!

The cellar at Maison G.H. Mumm is one of the stops on the Uber Bubbles tour.

Post-your trip underground, you’ll have a Cordon Rouge tasting, a perfect toast to your day in the Champagne region before your Uber driver takes you back to Paris just in time for watching the sun set over the Seine. You can stay in the region for longer if you prefer (maybe even plan a visit to Reims’ famous cathedral), you just will have to find your own way back to Paris — or wherever you’re headed next.

TLDR; If you’re joining the masses in traveling to France this season, you might as well break up your summer Euro trip with some bubbles and fresh air. More than 15 million people are expected to visit Paris this summer (30% higher than normal), so a tastefully boozy day away from the crowds is ideal.

You Can Book Uber Bubbles All Summer Long

Booking is simple. Just enter the Uber app and click the Uber Bubbles icon. Choose any available date through Aug. 17, enter your pick-up and drop-off preferences, and hit reserve. Once you receive your confirmation email, you should be good to go — just make sure to read the whole thing. Completing a Google form ensures the maisons will be prepped for your visit (especially if you have any dietary restrictions).

Uber Bubbles gives customers a tour of France's Champagne region.

Let’s be real, Paris is hard to beat. The architecture, museums , and restaurants are next level. Still, over the course of my six-day trip to France, the best moments (food, drink, photos, and more) happened in the Champagne region — and all my insufferable IG Stories are proof.

Private rides bookable this summer from Paris to Champagne with tastings, more Olympics-timed deals

Uber Bubbles will drive riders to taste and tour two champagne houses in France.

Chill the bubbly because Paris travel experiences will be popping this summer.

As a 30% influx of travelers are expected to descend on the City of Lights during the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games, companies are rolling out unique new deals to offer visitors the trip of a lifetime.

Uber launches Uber Bubbles: New bookable experience from Paris to Champagne, complete with tastings

The ride share company announced the launch of Uber Bubbles exclusively with "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, created in partnership with two iconic champagne houses -- Perrier-Jouët and G.H. Mumm -- in which riders will get to enjoy two tastings, lunch at the winemakers' cellars and learn all about the heritage of the premium winemaking region.

"With more than 15 million visitors expected in Paris this summer, we wanted to curate a seamless day trip from Paris to escape the frenzy and enjoy one of the most iconic regions in France," Laureline Serieys, GM for Uber France said in a statement.

The latest iteration of Uber's "Go Anywhere" series alleviates any guesswork from the day trip planning process with just a few in-app taps to secure a private, luxury ride in the brand's first-ever bookable experience that will take riders on a sustainable drive in an Uber Bubbles Tesla from Paris to the heart of the champagne region through Reims and Épernay.

Whether the trip is just for two or up to four guests, the experience is a €200 flat fee -- or just over $217 USD -- and runs on Fridays and Saturdays from June 7 through August 17.

PHOTO: One of the Uber Bubbles Tesla ride shares in France.

For context, the average cost of an UberX -- of which prices vary based on pick up time, traffic, location or riders -- for a trip from Paris to Reims is approximately $250 one way.

Reservations will become available exclusively in the Uber app starting June 1, and will be bookable 75 days to 24 hours in advance via Uber Reserve.

François-Xavier Morizot, VP Champagne for G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, said in a statement that their hospitality teams "are thrilled to partner with Uber this summer to offer riders the chance to discover our Champagne Houses." He added that it's "the perfect opportunity for travelers to enjoy the very best of our bubbly experiences, including our beautiful cuvees, elevated gastronomy, and exceptional grounds, both in Epernay with Maison Perrier-Jouët and in Reims with G.H. Mumm."

Guests who book the experience will have a fully planned day trip that begins with a pickup at the rider's preferred location in Paris to take a nearly hour and a half scenic drive through the countryside into the heart of the champagne wine region.

The first stop includes a champagne tasting of three cuvées and seasonal prix-fixe lunch at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque in Épernay.

The house, which was founded in 1811 by vintner and botanist Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and his wife Rose Adélaide Jouët, boasts indoor tasting rooms and outdoor gardens filled with art and flora that captures their unique Belle Époque-style and namesake of its prestige label.

From there, riders will hop back into their designated driver's car for a quick nearly half hour ride to Reims where a special tour at Maison G.H. Mumm awaits.

The hour and a half guided tour takes guests through the underground passageways of the Mumm cellars, home to almost 200 years of champagne history, with 25km of tunnels filled with aging bubbles.

After the tour, which would normally cost a little over $30 per person, Uber Bubbles guests will get to enjoy a Cordon Rouge champagne tasting, with options to add more on or buy bottles to bring home, before heading back to Paris for an early evening dropoff.

Uber suggests that once riders know their preferred visit date to book the experience in advance using the Uber Reserve function in the app a minimum of 24 hours prior to departure.

To help with what is expected to be a busy Parisian traffic scene, Uber is creating designated pickup and dropoff locations throughout the city center and at CDG airport, where the company said it expects the highest demand, to help the flow of traffic.

Discounts on Uber Green rides during the Olympics

In an effort to get more people into shared, electric, and car-free options such as e-bikes this summer, Uber also announced making those options cheaper for riders.

Every time the public administration Airparif releases a pollution alert from June 21 through September 20, Uber will set up a 50% discount on Uber Green, UberX Share and Lime e-bikes for customers.

A Night at the Musée d'Orsay

PHOTO: Airbnb is launching so-called “Icons,” giving customers an opportunity to experience famous homes and places like the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.

With Paris leading as the most searched city on Airbnb this summer, the vacation rental service announced a unique stay to further elevate experiences for any Paris-bound tourists this summer.

As part of its "Icons" experiences , which are free or under $100, but limited to "lucky guests" chosen for one of 4,000 digital tickets, customers can request to book a room inside the Musée d’Orsay during the Paris Olympics.

According to a spokesperson for Airbnb, listing page views during the Games period have been 11 times higher on average in the French host cities and their surroundings compared to the previous year.

"Nights booked for stays during the dates of the Olympics are over five times higher than they were in Paris the same time a year ago," the representative added. "We’ve also seen increases in supply to help meet higher demand, including nearly 40% more active listings in Paris in Q1 compared to a year ago."

Uber Now Has a Flat-Fee Service That Will Chauffeur You to Champagne and Back — Lunch and Wine Tastings Included

Go ahead, book that ticket to Paris.

Uber Bubbles

For the first time in my life, I was happy to leave Paris. Actually, I was kind of out of it, lightly snoozing in the back of a Tesla, a crushed water bottle as my impromptu pillow, as my driver Mohamed transported my jet-legged self toward Champagne. The 90-minute drive was smooth and eventually scenic, part of a new Uber experience launching this summer: Uber Bubbles.

Uber Bubbles will take riders from anywhere in Paris to Champagne, for a curated exploration of top Champagne houses before returning to the city. The day trip experience starts with a pickup anywhere in Paris, including the airport, for a roundtrip route through Champagne and back to the city. The experience starts in Épernay at Perrier-Jouët , a classic maison dating back to 1811, with whimsical floral decor rivaling this year’s Met Gala red carpet and a general feminine aesthetic that I’d happily adopt as my entire personality.

At a circular bar inside the Art Nouveau-inspired tasting room, I tasted three cuvées alongside a tasting menu: Plump marinated salmon diced and reassembled as a filet was topped with marigold petals and swirled with lovage oil, paired with Perrier-Jouët ’s Blason Rosé. A chicken breast topped with Champagne sauce paired with the Grand Brut, and a strawberry pavlova built with elderflower pavlova was like a spring dream.

Full of edible flowers, I relaxed back into my waiting Uber for a drive down the Avenue de Champagne and a quick tour past the Reims Cathedral. Next up: Maison G.H. Mumm, where a group tour descended into the earthy-scented caves to learn about the region, Champagne making, and of course, tasting some (several) glasses on the patio before returning to the car, which certainly felt more like a privately booked transfer (my bags were safe inside) than your standard Uber.

This Summer, Uber Bubbles will run on Fridays and Saturdays from June 7 to August 17. The experience costs a flat fee of €200 (about $217). Thanks to partnerships with the Champagne houses, the price is all-inclusive, for up to four passengers in the vehicle. That’s a major deal, considering a one-way ride from Paris to Champagne costs much more than $200. Reservations will be bookable 75 days to 24 hours in advance via Uber Reserve, starting on June 1.

With over 15 million visitors expected in Paris this summer, thanks to the Olympics and you know, the lure of a sunny Parisian vacation, a day trip with an already planned itinerary is ideal.  Riders who want to use the trip as an escape from Paris can also opt out of the return ride, check into a hotel in Champagne, or request their Uber Bubbles drop them at Champagne-Ardenne train station and start their own adventure. Alternatively, Disneyland Paris is also on the return route.

“We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we can show up in a meaningful way for our customers this summer,” says Laureline Serieys, general manager of Uber France. “We’ve focused on both our presence in Paris, as well as in other popular seasonal destinations, like Épernay and Reims.” Ubers have run in Champagne since 2019, making it easier for visitors and locals to tour the region safely.

“Uber Bubbles is the perfect travel product for locals and visitors alike,” says Serieys. “A seamless, affordable, and luxurious day trip from Paris to escape the frenzy and enjoy nearby Champagne, one of the most iconic and beloved regions in France. It’s been exclusively curated for Uber riders and it’s climate conscious.”

All Uber Bubbles vehicles are green, meaning the day trip has no carbon footprint, and drivers are paid full-day fares.

“I am excited to join the Bubbles adventure this summer to enjoy a unique moment with tourists from around the world,” says Mohamed Lamsadda, a Paris-based Uber driver who will drive Uber Bubbles rides this summer. Spoiler: My preview with him was a five-star ride. “My goal is to provide a magical experience for our guests in the Champagne region. I can’t wait to share this journey with riders, offering them a day of memorable discoveries and tastings.”

With all eyes on Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games, Uber is debuting a new and timely experience.

Uber Bubbles , a full-day, all-inclusive Champagne tour, will give the anticipated 16 million travelers heading to the City of Lights an opportunity to “escape the frenzy and enjoy one of the most iconic regions in France,” shared Laureline Serieys, general manager at Uber France.

Uber Bubbles will be available to book on Fridays and Saturdays between June 7 and August 17.

About two hours east of Paris, the world-renowned region of Champagne attracts sparkling wine enthusiasts with its rolling hills of prized vineyards and historic Champagne houses. Among them, Perrier-Jouët and G.H. Mumm have partnered with Uber to bring the experience to life.

“We’re putting the heart of France’s Champagne region at your fingertips,” says Serieys, of the trip that begins with a pickup in Paris by an Uber Bubbles-branded Tesla. The first stop of the day is at Perrier-Jouët’s Cellier Belle Époque in Epernay where travelers will experience a Champagne tasting of three cuvées followed by a multi-course lunch.

The second stop will be Maison G.H. Mumm in Reims that includes a cellar visit and a Cordon Rouge tasting, the brand’s icon cuvée blend of at least 100 crus they’ve been making since 1876.

Despite the challenges surrounding the bubbly beverage in recent years — Champagne shortages, supply chain disruptions and climate crises affecting viticulture — the wine-growing region is still one of the most popular destinations for wine tourism in France, only behind Bordeaux as the top draw to France’s 10 million wine tourists .

Uber Bubbles can be booked through the Uber app.

Uber Bubbles joins Uber’s ‘Go Anywhere’ series of travel products, which the on-demand ride-hailing and courier service launched in 2022 with Uber Sleigh in Lapland, Finland that provided free on-demand sleigh rides. Following this, they introduced Uber Boat in Mykonos, Greece and Uber Balloon in Cappadocia, Turkey. Later this summer, Uber Cruise will also come to Paris with an eco-conscious cruise on the Seine River.

The bubbly offering will become available on June 1 through the Uber app for reservations exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays this summer, from June 7 though August 17 for a €200 flat fee, covering up to four guests.

Uber Is Toasting to France with a New Champagne Tasting Experience in This Summer

The rideshare company is also launching its first-ever boat experience in Paris with free rides along the Seine.

The Paris Olympics are almost here, and Uber is ready to celebrate with a pair of new experiences allowing riders to toast their way through France and ride along the Seine on a free boat tour.

To start, the rideshare company is gearing up to bring travelers from Paris to Epernay this summer — the epicenter of French Champagne — for exclusive tours of some of the best Champagne houses, Uber told Travel + Leisure . The experience, called Uber Bubbles , is available to book starting June 1 and will be offered on Fridays and Saturdays from June 7 to Aug. 17.

And the best news is the entire trip will only cost €200 ($216.96) for up to four guests.

“With more than 15 [million] visitors expected in Paris this summer, we wanted to curate a seamless day trip from Paris to escape the frenzy and enjoy one of the most iconic regions in France,” Laureline Serieys, the general manager of Uber France, told T+L. “With Uber Bubbles, we’re putting the heart of France’s champagne region at your fingertips.”

Travelers who book the day trip will be picked up in an Uber Bubbles-branded Tesla and taken to lunch at the Perrier-Jouët Cellier Belle Epoque in Epernay where they can feast on dishes like crab and curry beignets and Caesar salad with tarragon fried chicken along with a tasting of three cuvées. After, they’ll head over to Maison G.H. Mumm in Reims for a visit to the cellar and Cordon Rouge tasting before being driven back to Paris.

François-Xavier Morizot, the VP Champagne for G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët, told T+L the trip was the “perfect opportunity for travelers to enjoy the very best of our ‘bubbly’ experiences, including our beautiful cuvees, elevated gastronomy, and exceptional grounds.”

The experience must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and can be booked up to 90 days before. To reserve, Champagne fans can select the “Uber Bubbles” icon on the home screen and choose an available date. Travelers will then enter their pickup and dropoff locations.

Uber will also make sightseeing in Paris easier by offering free one hour tours on fully-electric boats along the Seine. The experience will be called Uber Cruise and represents the first-ever Uber boat tours in Paris, the company told T+L.

The boat tours are expected to launch in mid-July.

The new experiences kick off just as travelers are expected to flock to Paris in droves for the Summer Olympics . The opening ceremony starts on July 26.

And to make travel to and from the airport during the Games just a bit smoother, the rideshare company will also designate specific pickup and drop-off locations throughout the city and at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).

Air France to Open Ultra-Exclusive Airport Lounge Ahead of the Olympics: Here’s a Look Inside

Gordon Smith , Skift

May 28th, 2024 at 12:03 PM EDT

While first class airport check-in is nothing new, Air France is preparing to take the concept to the next level.

Gordon Smith

As the world’s most visited country , France is no stranger to welcoming tourists. But even by its own busy standards, 2023 was an absolute record-breaker . However, the dynamic will be slightly different this summer.

Speaking to Skift earlier this month , Corinne Menegaux, Paris’ tourism chief acknowledged that “the Olympics is not a driver for tourism,” with only 30% of those attending the Games coming from abroad.

Evidence from previous events suggests regular tourists may stay away as athletes from around the world gather in and around the French capital. As a result, it’s more likely to be sporting records that are toppled, rather than international visitor records, as Paris hosts the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

For those that are making the trip – and wanting to do so in style – Air France is putting the finishing touches to an ultra-exclusive airport experience quite unlike any other.

Described as a “completely private and confidential customer journey, from airport arrival to boarding the aircraft,” it could set a new benchmark for first class commercial air travel.

What’s Special About the La Première Lounge?

The concept of a dedicated airport check-in zone for top-tier passengers is nothing new. Virgin Atlantic , Lufthansa , and Singapore Airlines are among the big names that offer a more exclusive service for premium guests. However, Air France is pushing even these boundaries with its new ultra-luxe offering.

The airline says the experience will begin from the moment the passenger arrives at its Paris Charles de Gaulle hub. Upon enetering the La Première check-in lobby, a concierge will immediately attend to their luggage.

Once pre-departure check-in formalities are concluded, guests will be escorted to the La Première lounge via a private passage featuring a dedicated security checkpoint. The pathway is decorated with a series of images portraying the airline’s winged seahorse motif.

Upon arrival at the lounge, guests can look forward to a menu curated by chef Alain Ducasse and his team. There’s also a spa operated by French beauty brand Sisley.

Air France describes the space as “embodying French elegance and sophistication.” It has been developed by the airline in collaboration with design agency SGK Paris.

Rendering of an airport lounge filled with mostly white furniture

Going One Step Further

Despite the lounge spanning more than 10,000 square feet, it has just 15 seats. The idea is to offer a level of comfort and privacy unthinkable in the main terminal.

However, for the most discerning passengers, an even more exclusive option is available – three completely private suites.

Each spans almost 500 square feet and is located adjacent to the ‘main’ La Première lounge. For larger groups or families, two of the three suites can be connected to create an even larger space.

Each has a living area, double bedroom, bathroom, and outdoor patio. A dedicated butler is on standby at all times to ensure the champagne flutes never run dry.

Air France says it aims to “create a regal atmosphere within its Charles de Gaulle hub.” Furnishings from French design houses including Pierre Paulin and Christophe Pillet complete the look.

The private spaces can be reserved as an optional add-on for passengers enrolled in La Première’s ‘Suites’ option, with prices starting from €800 ($869).

Rendering of an bed in a mainly white room

Who Can Access La Première Facilities?

The space will be available to passengers flying in ‘La Première’ – Air France’s most prestigious product and the equivalent of first class at other carriers. It is also open to La Première passengers arriving or connecting in Paris. They’ll be able to use the high-end facilities for post-flight freshening up and to collect any checked luggage. It’s all a far cry from the usual crowded carousel.

Air France says the complex will be operational ahead of the Paris Olympics in July.

The developments complement wider changes to the airline’s onboard offering. The carrier is preparing to launch its new La Première cabin later this year. Air France is promising the longest configuration on the market, with every passenger enjoying five windows each. There will be three modular private living spaces, comprising a seat, chaise lounge, and lie-flat bed.

A Wider First Class Renaissance?

In recent years carriers including LATAM, Malaysia Airlines, and South African Airways have withdrawn their international first class products . The general trend has been towards a more refined business class offering that appeals to corporate and high-end leisure passengers alike.

This has left only a handful of long-haul carriers that continue to invest in a true first class cabin. As well as Air France, these include Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Japan Airlines, yet even these companies only offer the product on select routes.

However, there are signs that the concept may be enjoying a renewed surge in popularity. In March, Qatar Airways’ new CEO revealed the carrier is preparing to launch a new first class cabin.

Badr Mohammed Al-Meer’s comments represented a major U-turn in strategy for the Middle Eastern carrier. Just last year, his predecessor Akbar Al Baker told Bloomberg that he “didn’t see the necessity” for first class. “Why should you invest in a subclass of an aeroplane that already gives you all the amenities that first class gives you?” asked the former CEO.

Badr Al-Meer said the Qatar Airways project was already in its advanced stages, with further details coming “very soon.”

The broader concept also remains popular with some U.S. domestic operators. American Airlines recently announced it would be ramping up its domestic first class offering .

In 2022, Skift named the rise of premium leisure air travel as one of its top Megatrends .
