10 great travel mantras to live by every day

One of the things I love about travelling is that you don’t just get to see new places. Instead, you get to make amazing memories. Whether it be tasting exotic foods, diving in marine parks or just doing some sort of extraordinary activity, there’s something about travel that makes us a little braver, more relaxed and sometimes, even a completely new (and improved) person.  But what happens when you get back from that trip? How do you feel?

Sure, you have all these wonderful memories but that spunky mojo you had a few days ago starts to die as soon as the monotony of everyday life sets in. You struggle to meet deadlines and rigidly stick to routines as you get bored and frustrated with life all over again.

It doesn’t have to be that way though! Those inspiring travel quotes that we think are only applicable when we pull out our passport shouldn’t have an expiry date. In fact, why can’t we live by those quotes every day? Fall in love with your city or town again. Go exploring. Find something magical in routines by changing it up and just live. To help you do that, here are 10 great travel mantras to help keep the wanderlust alive in your everyday life.

Whatever you're needing, there's a mantra for that — here are 13 to get you started.

Sarah Regan

You've probably heard "Om," before, believed by some to be the first sound of the universe. What you may not know, however, is that Om is a mantra. Mantras are a powerful tool to use along one's spiritual journey, and there are more than just "om." Here's what to know about mantras , plus 13 great ones to try yourself.

What are mantras?

Traditionally, a mantra is a word or sound repeated to help with concentration during meditation, originally seen in Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

As sound healer and meditation expert Susy Markoe Schieffelin tells mbg, "Mantra means 'mind vehicle.' Mantra is a vehicle in the form of a word or syllable that uses vibration and sound to help us move beyond the thinking mind."

Different mantras have different meanings and effects, and Markoe Schieffelin explains that meditating on a mantra silently, or chanting it out loud, can help bring you into the more peaceful, subconscious mind. "Over time," she adds, "working with mantra can help you to create positive shifts in your mindset and therefore create positive changes in your life."

Mantras can be repeated any time, with mantra meditation being a popular practice for mantra enthusiasts. "I find that for people who believe that they 'can't meditate' or have especially 'busy' minds, chanting a mantra out loud gives the mind something positive to focus on, which can then allow it to slow down and bring a sense of stillness in meditation," Markoe Schieffelin adds.

How to start working with them.

If you're curious to get started using different mantras, according to Markoe Schieffelin, the first thing you'll want to do is choose one that resonates with you. "You could choose an English word such as 'love' or 'peace' and practice repeating it to yourself while sitting quietly in meditation," she says. "Or you could choose a traditional ancient mantra, which can have a stronger vibration since humans have been working with them consciously for thousands of years."

And as meditation instructor Megan Monahan previously explained to mbg, mantra meditation isn't meant to stop your thoughts, as some people mistakenly believe. Rather, she says, "the goal is to expand your awareness so you can get more comfortable observing your thoughts (and any other external stimuli) without getting immediately involved in them."

Markoe Schieffelin adds that you can, of course, try mantra meditation, but you can also simply chant it out loud whenever you feel called to, or write it down somewhere you'll see it regularly, as a reminder of your intention. You can even repeat your mantra while you're washing your hands or driving in the car.

Here's our guide to mantra meditation for more information. Now, let's get into some mantras.

13 mantras to try:

So Hum , or Soham , is a Sanskrit mantra meaning "I am that," with "that" being the universe. According to Markoe Schieffelin, working with this mantra helps one to identify with the oneness of the universe.

Sa Ta Na Ma

Sa Ta Na Ma , another Sanskrit mantra, can be translated as "birth, life, death, rebirth." Markoe Schieffelin explains it represents the cycles of life, and "chanting this mantra out loud is very balancing for the brain and can help one to move through the changes, seasons, and cycles of life with grace and ease."

Arguably the most popular mantra in world, Om is the sound of the universe and the sound of creation. It's also related to the crown chakra, and higher consciousness. "Om is everything and nothing, and meditating on it can help you to tap into your power as a creator," Markoe Schieffelin tells mbg.

Moving to a few English options, Markoe Schieffelin recommends a simple statement of "I am love" for a mantra that helps you both tap into the love within yourself and the universe at large. By repeating "I am love," you acknowledge your own inner light and remember who you are.

I listen to my feelings

Spiritual author Shannon Kaiser recommends this mantra especially if you often neglect your own emotions and needs. "Your feelings are instincts, and they will always tell you the truth. It may be difficult to face the current reality, but know your feelings are trying to help you process and heal," she previously told mbg. Repeat this mantra when you feel out of touch with yourself to help come back to your feelings.

I am enough

Another mantra suggested by Markoe Scheffielin is a simple "I am enough." How often do we convince ourselves there's something about us that needs to change or be improved before we're whole? Repeat this mantra when you're doubting your wholeness, and know that you are already enough just as you are.

Gratitude is the life force of everything

Finding gratitude during difficulty is a tremendous way to boost your overall sense of contentment. As Kaiser explains, "We can often look outside of ourselves and see someone else who looks happier, more satisfied, or more successful or healthy, and when we focus on them, we can forget to be thankful for what's going well in our own life. Turning your attention to gratitude instead of jealousy or frustration can help you see all of the blessings in your life."

Speaking of gratitude, let's be honest: Sometimes it can be difficult to find, and acceptance is a more realistic place to start. In that case, physician and mystic Lissa Rankin, M.D. , recommends a simple repetition of "I accept." No matter what it is you have to accept, when you're feeling resistance, this mantra can help. "'I accept' is a simple but powerful mantra that has been known to make the body ripe for miracles," Rankin previously wrote for mbg.

Om Mani Padme Hum

Another traditional Sanskrit mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum translates roughly to, "Praise the jewel in the lotus," feng shui expert Anjie Cho previously told mbg. This popular mantra, she says, means that "All the wisdom is within us, so the 'jewel,' the 'treasure,' is in us—and we are the lotus flower ," Cho explains.

Soften into the pain

Rankin explains that we tend to resist difficult emotions and pain, but when life hurts, we ought to soften into it, and repeating this mantra can help with facilitating that. "Grief or heartbreak lasts about 90 seconds, and then you get a reprieve before the next wave hits. You feel it all the way, and it heals and awakens you—you get broken open and your capacity to love expands," she explains.

One day at a time

When we're not living in the present, we can't truly appreciate today for the gift it is, and this mantra reminds us to slow down. "It's easy to get caught up in what we lost or what the state of the world will be in tomorrow, but less easy to keep ourselves in the here and now," Kaiser tells mbg, adding, "The best thing we can do for our mental well being is let go of yesterday and do our best not to dwell on tomorrow. Each day you wake is a new opportunity to do so."

Woooooosaaaaahhhhh

For a mantra that simply allows you to release built-up tension, enter the  woooosaaaaahhhh, which spiritual author Emma Mildon says is the ultimate sound to unleash when you feel yourself losing patience. "This long-winded sigh is for those moments when you're fed up beyond words. Take one of those 'breathe it all in' deep inhalations, and then  woooosaaaaahhhh  it all out," she explains.

Aad Guray Nameh, Jugaad Guray Namay, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Davay Nameh

And last but certainly not least, Aad Guray Namay (or the Mangala Charan mantra) is my personal favorite mantra that I learned during my yoga teacher training in 2018. It's a mantra for protection that translates to "I bow to the primal wisdom, I bow to the wisdom through the ages, I bow to the true wisdom, I bow to the great divine wisdom." Repeat this mantra whenever you would like a little extra protection.

The takeaway.

The most important part of a personal mantra meditation practice is figuring out a mantra that works for you. (And for what it's worth, you can totally come up with your own.) Through the repetition of these powerful sounds and phrases, we're able to tap into our subconscious, and create ripples in our lives.

8 Great Travel Mantras to Make Your Own

Do you have a favorite travel mantra?

Jenny McIver, RTWin30Days

“Why work from home when you can work from Rome?” — Jenny McIver , RTWin30Days

By Charles McCool / McCool Travel

After conducting 95 interviews with amazing travel experts  over the years, I have a nice collection of inspiring travel mantras. In each interview, I asked the travel expert for a travel mantra of eight words or less. (As you will see below, not every person abided by that requirement so I consider the “eight words” rule more of a guideline.) To get you excited about traveling this year, I selected a few great mantras that most make me want to jump out of my chair and see the world. I hope you feel the same.

Each travel mantra also links to the travel experts interview on McCool Travel and their principle website, so that you can read more about them and be further inspired. Happy travels!

What Is A Mantra?

mantra examples: sanskrit books

The word mantra is derived from two Sanskrit words, manas meaning mind, and tra meaning tool. Literally translated, it means mind tool, or, a tool for the mind. Practitioners use mantras to deepen their meditation practice by accessing their true selves and a higher power.

The earliest known use of mantras is in the Vedic Hindu scriptures. Hindu texts describe speech as divine, they believe in the sacredness of sound. Sound, including chanting and music is known to be an important part of Hindu rituals.

For years, only Brahmin priests were seen as worthy enough to chant the sacred mantras. However, upon the birth of the Hindu schools of Yoga, Vedanta, Tantra, and Bhakti mantras became part of the general practice of the Hindu religion. When Buddhism arose in India, it also adopted the practice of mantras.

Technically, any sound, word, or phrase that alters consciousness is a mantra. Their meaning, tone, rhythm, or physical vibration can create a shift in consciousness and facilitate a deep meditative state. It is thought that when they are chanted repetitively with devotion they create powerful vibrations in the body and mind.

Each mantra has its own power and intention behind it.

How To Incorporate Mantras In Your Daily Practice and Meditate?

Beads

Mantra repetition can be used to :

  • reach higher states of consciousness
  • set powerful intentions
  • attract positive energy
  • receive clarity about your own destiny
  • enter a deeper state of present-moment awareness

Mantras can be recited in repetitions, or chanted with a melody.

Traditionally, mantras are recited 12, 17, 54, or 108 times. If you have mala beads, you can repeat the mantra as you move the mala through your fingers. Touching each bead individually as you recite the mantra 108 times. This will help guide you through the mantra practice, and charge your mala with positive energy and powerful intention.

You can also sing mantras with a melody. This is a beautiful practice that is wonderful to do in a group setting with instruments to experience sangha , spiritual community. Or, by yourself, you can easily look up mantras on Spotify and sing along with them.

You can recite the mantra:

  • Out loud : chanting mantras out loud evokes a response from our environment and shifts the vibration of a space.
  • Softly : chanting a mantra softly to yourself invokes a physiological response.
  • Silently : chanting a mantra within your consciousness and awareness invokes a subtle energetic shift within yourself.
  • Tuning in : You are listening to the mantra as it arises in your field of awareness, you are not “doing” the mantra.

Many people enjoy reciting their personal mantra before practicing silent meditation. The repetition of the mantra brings them into a state of stillness and calmness. Thus, it is a beneficial preparation for silent seated meditation. Others use mantra repetition as their primary meditation practice. Still, others might repeat a personal mantra while in a yoga class, doing the dishes, or driving. There is no one right way to use mantras.

How Do You Choose Your Own Personal Mantra?

girl standing on a beach during a sunset

Reflect on what it is you would like to work on in your life or in yourself right now.

What is your intention?

What is your focus?

What do you want to call in?

What do you want less of?

What do you want to align your life with?

Any meaningful affirmation to you can be used as your personal mantra. Below are many mantra examples you can use for self-esteem, happiness, positivity, inner peace, and abundance. There are also traditional mantra examples that call in specific Hindu deities.

No matter which mantra you feel called to work with right now, there are a few guiding principles to get the most out of it.

  • Believable – you should have a strong belief in your personal mantra
  • Specific – your personal mantra should be specific enough to manifest whatever it is you are seeking
  • Positive – personal mantras should be worded as a positive phrase
  • Personal – personalize your mantra to your own life and situation as much as possible
  • Memorable – your personal mantra should be easy for you to remember as you chant or write it

The Science Behind the Repetition of Mantras and Neuroplasticity

Mantras are not just words; they carry significant meaning and power that can inspire and motivate individuals. When you repeat a mantra daily, you are essentially creating a positive statement that boosts your confidence and helps you develop a growth mindset. The repetition of a mantra can help remind you of what’s important and inspire you to live your best life.

One of the most common mantras is “om”, a phrase spoken in Sanskrit and used in meditation practices. By repeatedly chanting this mantra, you can train your mind and body to stay focused and positively impact the world around you.

For those struggling with self-doubt or facing an obstacle, finding a new mantra that resonates with them can make a world of difference. Whether it’s an inspirational quote or a motivational phrase, mantras have the power to inspire you to keep pushing forward every step of the way.

By journaling your favorite mantras and keep repeating them on a daily basis, you can help retrain your brain and build the confidence you need to overcome any challenge that comes your way.

Exploring Neuroplasticity

Have you ever thought about how repeating a mantra could actually alter your brain? It all comes down to neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s capacity to restructure itself by forming fresh neural connections. It’s truly intriguing!

Mantras and Mental Pathways

When you repeat a mantra, you’re essentially creating a pathway in your brain. Each repetition fortifies this pathway, making it more distinct over time, like a well worn trail in a dense forest. This can shape your thought patterns.

The Importance of Repetition

Repetition plays a crucial role in this process. Just as muscles develop through consistent workouts, neural pathways become stronger with regular use. Every time you recite your mantra, you solidify this new mental practice. It’s a potent tool for personal growth.

Long-Term Advantages

The lasting benefits are profound. Regular practice of mantras can enhance concentration, lessen stress levels and foster an overall sense of tranquility. It’s not just about momentary change but about permanently transforming your mental landscape.

Personal Reflections

From my own experience with practicing mantras, I’ve witnessed notable transformations. Initially, maintaining focus was challenging. Nevertheless, with perseverance, the mantra evolved into a stabilizing influence. It feels like having a guiding light, helping me stay grounded in the midst of life’s unpredictable moments.

Integrating this insight into your daily mantra routine can enhance your recognition of its influence. It’s more than just a spiritual activity; it’s like giving your brain a good workout!

10 Inspiring Mantras For Your Spiritual Journey

By Louise Carr | Last updated September 8, 2014

Yoga | Yoga for Beginners

best mantra for travel

A spiritual journey doesn’t have to take you to the top of Mount Athos or to the source of the River Ganges. A true spiritual journey is a quest of discovery into the heart of who you really are, and why the world is as it is.

It’s much easier to take the straight road to your destination without diversions, building up your stockpile of possessions, and without asking the uncomfortable questions. But if you never stop to search the undergrowth, or breathe in the scents of the roadside flowers, what happens when you come up against serious problems? When you feel so adrift that you need to start from scratch?

A spiritual journey helps provide the resources you need to live fully and become a force for good in the world.

Mantras to Guide Your Journey

No one says a spiritual journey is simple or stress-free—the path is winding, there are pitfalls underfoot, and you’ll always see another route that seems to lead you off somewhere more interesting.

When you are tired or feel like giving up, choose a mantra or two to guide your passage. The word “mantra” is Hindu for “word” and these words are designed to change you. If you want something to resonate with you whatever the day or the situation, “Om” or “Aum” is the trusty go-to. Om is ideal for meditation or at times when you want to quiet your mind – it’s a sound that includes everything in the past, present, and future, as well as everything that exists beyond these three forms of time.

However, I have to note that you don’t need to use Hindu words, or words in a foreign language that you trip over with your tongue. Your spiritual journey is your own, and your mantras are intensely personal – whatever the language. There’s a lot to be said for short-and-sweet mantras that have a modern kick – they work like a charm for that crucial transformative effect.

What you feel in your heart, what speaks to you, what brings about a positive shift in your being, no matter how small – this is a mantra for spiritual development and growth. If you need some inspiration, take a look at these words of beauty and truth.

1. I am learning to trust the journey even when I do not understand it. ~Mila Bron

2. Be the change you wish to see in the world. ~Mahatma Gandhi

3. We don't grow when things are easy; we grow when we face challenges.

4. Getting lost is never a waste of time.

5. Stop holding onto what hurts and make room for what feels good.

6. Cherish the people in your life who are supporting you in your growth and change.

7. The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday. ~Steve Maraoli

8. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here.

9. Everything you can imagine is real. ~Pablo Picasso

10. Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home. ~Matsuo Basho

Taking a spiritual journey is to know that you cannot remain unchanged, and that whatever you encounter on your path is relevant.

Wherever you are on your journey, take heart from these mantras. Repeat as and when you need them—over and over and over if necessary—so that their message is imprinted on your soul, giving you strength and purpose to keep putting one foot in front of the other to find your true purpose and identity.

7 Mantras to Create the Life You Want

Our thoughts are so powerful! They create our reality and amplify the quality of our days. Here are seven mantras to try to increase the positive vibes.

Successful, happy, adventurous, safe—we’re all dreaming of an amazing life for ourselves! Whether you think that the grass is greener in a stable nine-to-five job or you find the freedom of roaming gypsy life more appealing, next time you ask yourself, What kind of life do I want?, remember that there’s a mantra for that.

What is A Mantra?

Mantra, or vehicle for the mind , is the ancient practice of repeating a word or phrase multiple times. You may unconsciously work with mantras on a daily basis. For example, do you ever catch yourself saying, “I hate my body” or “This is never going to work” or “I’m not good enough”? Those are indeed mantras, though negative ones, which only serve to feed the thousands of other Automatic Negative Thoughts in your mind. In fact, most of the thoughts you think are ones repeated from the day before, and the day before that. Each thought you think creates a little groove in the circuitry of the brain. Since that’s the case, you really ought to be more selective about which ones you’re polishing.

In Buddha’s Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Health, Happiness, and Wisdom , author Rick Hanson explains that you can change your mind … to change your brain … to change your mind! What luck! This means if you intentionally choose positive, more expansive thoughts, you can change your life for the better.

Since the thoughts you think create the reality you live in, singing, chanting, speaking, or repeating the following mantras silently can make a difference. As author Thomas Ashley-Farrand writes in Healing Mantras: Using Sound Affirmations for Personal Power, Creativity, and Healing , mantras can be used by people of any religion or spiritual practice, or during any activity—of course during meditation, but they can also be used as you walk, clean, cook, and during other mindless tasks.

1. AUM or OM

AUM or OM is the universal vibration , with each sound (Aaa—Uoo—Mmm) said to represent creation, manifestation, and destruction. Consider what are you sending out into the world on the sound waves of your OM and focus on an intention. Dedicate your OM to your own well-being, to your family, to your community, or to the world. Like a pebble dropped into a still pond, allow your OM to ripple out.

Practice suggestions:

  • Chant one to three times before beginning your yoga asana practice
  • Chant one to three times to close a yoga asana practice
  • Chant before or after seated meditation
  • Chant anytime, anywhere

2. Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu

A sweet Sanskrit chant with a lovely translation: “May all beings everywhere be happy and free. May our thoughts, our words, and our actions, contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom.” This mantra may be chanted or sung as an offering of loving-kindness to all beings, including yourself.

  • Chant before or after yoga asana practice
  • Sing it with kids as a lesson in compassion, inclusivity, and tolerance
  • Write it down in your journal after a challenging day

Translated from Sanskrit, this mantra means “I am.” “I am” is a complete sentence! This mantra is great for balancing the Root Chakra , getting grounded in self-love, and connecting with your “enoughness.” Try taking on further affirmations if it feels right for you: I am here now. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am safe. I am becoming. I am enough.

Practice suggestion:

  • Say it five times out loud before an interview
  • Say it while standing in a power pose
  • Do a journaling “free write” and fill three pages with add-ons to “I am …”

4. Asatao ma sadgamaya / Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya / Mrtyorma amrtam gamaya / Om shanti shanti shanti

This mantra comes from the Upanishads, one of the ancient philosophical yogic texts from India. It translates to “Lead me from the untruth to truth, lead me from darkness to light, lead me from death to immortality, Om peace, peace, peace.”

  • Chant it in Kirtan with a group of people
  • Chant before embarking on a journey
  • Chant at the beginning of the year, change of the season, or birthday

5. LAM-VAM-RAM-YAM-HAM-OM-(silence)

Use the bija mantras, or one-syllable seed sounds, to stimulate and unblock each chakra. Respectively, each sound aligns with the seven major energy centers: Muladhara, Svadistana, Manipura, Anahata, Visshudha, Ajna, and Sahasrara . Chant these mantras when you’re feeling out of balance in any area of your life.

  • Use this mantra as pranayama : inhale fully and then chant all the sounds on the exhale
  • Sing this mantra seven times, once for each chakra
  • Choose one sound that really resonates with you and repeat that one several times

6. Om Namoh Lakshmi, Om Namoh Lakshmi, Om Namoh Lakshmi, Prema Devi Mataji

This mantra calls on the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi for abundance, beauty, health, luminosity, and love. There are many chants for Lakshmi. This mantra translates to “Oh Mother Lakshmi! Goddess of good fortune, prosperity, and beauty. Goddess of love, I bow to you.” Call on Lakshmi when you’re feeling dull or preparing for a big change.

  • Say before or after a heart-opening yoga asana practice
  • Say before or after meditation focused on abundance
  • Chant this mantra with a group of women
  • Sing when starting a new business

7. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha

This mantra summons the Hindu Deity Ganesha , the beloved elephant-headed trickster known as the remover of obstacles and master of knowledge. This mantra translates to “Salutations to Ganesha, the remover/breaker of obstacles, we call your name!” Call on Ganesha to clear your path when you feel stuck or creatively blocked, when you need a change of perspective, or when life feels especially challenging and you’re not sure why.

  • Say before embarking on a journey
  • Say when you feel afraid
  • Say silently during a difficult work meeting
  • Say during a tense period in a close relationship

If you’d like, set up a dedicated time of day to practice mantra with an altar. Place items on your altar associated with the life you desire. Consider areas of change and areas that are already working. Move your fingers across a mala necklace or use your fingers to track the number of times you chant your chosen mantra.

These powerful sounds can be practiced just about anywhere. How about on a walk or a bike ride? What about in the shower or in the car? Or chant while you move through asana. It truly does not matter where or when you practice mantra, the question to ask is: What is the intention behind the chant? The act of repetition is meditative in itself. And if none of these are doing the trick, make up your own mantra to create the life you desire!

Even though they are short, these mantras carry important life lessons. Find the mantras that deeply resonate with you and you can use them as your personal mantras.

Here’s the list of mantras:

Table of Contents

1. It’s not what you cannot do, but what you can do.

It is not what you cannot do, it is what you can do.

“ Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do. ” – John Wooden

What you focus on the most decides the course of your life.

A simple change of focus from what you cannot do, to what you can do, can bring a massive difference to your outlook. You begin to attract solutions and get back on track.

So whenever you encounter self defeating thoughts, use this mantra to change your mindset from negative to positive.

2. Forget the day’s troubles, remember the day’s blessings.

Forget the day’s troubles, remember the day’s blessings.

Expressing gratitude is a beautiful way to start/end each day. When you express gratitude, you begin to see the hidden grace and beauty in all things. You automatically change your vibration from one of scarcity to one of abundance. And when you think in abundance, you attract abundance into your life.

So whenever you find yourself ruminating about the negatives, remember this mantra to change your thoughts to the positive.

3. Slow down, but don’t stop.

Slow down, don't stop.

You can reach all your goals as long as you follow this mantra. This is because, life is like a marathon; it’s a long run and not a short sprint.

You need to have a calm and focused mind, keep making small advancements and maintain a steady pace. If you do that, there is nothing that you cannot achieve.

4. Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson.

Forget the mistake, remember the lesson.

It’s important to realize that it’s only human to make mistakes. So forgive yourself and let go of regrets as holding on to regrets will prevent you from moving forward in life.

And as you move on, take with you the lessons you learnt from the mistake so you do not repeat it again in the future.

Learning from your mistakes and mistakes of others is the path to self growth.

5. I am enough. I do not need to prove anything to anybody.

I am enough as I am. I do not need to prove anything to anybody.

When you look for approval and validation from others, you essentially give away your power to them. You let them run your life. But the moment you realize that you are enough as you are, you liberate yourself.

6. My challenges will bring a better me.

My challenges will bring a better me

If you look back at your life, you will realize that it was the challenges you faced along the way that shaped you into the person you are today.

You gained all this wisdom about life because of those challenges. So whenever you are faced with a challenge, remember this mantra and it will give you the courage to push forward.

7. I will figure it out.

I will figure it out.

Every problem has a solution. All that is required is the attitude to look for the solution believing that it exists instead of feeling down and diminished thinking about the problem.

This short mantra is all you need to help change your mindset whenever you find yourself in the midst of a seemingly tough situation.

8. I am on my own path.

I am on my own path.

We live in a society that encourages us to think less for ourselves and instead, simply follow others. It encourages us to be part of the herd and not do or think any different.

But throughout history you will find that it is the people who thought differently who made all the difference.

So do not worry if your path is different from others. Believe in yourself and pursue your path with courage and determination and you are sure to achieve success.

9. Be curious, not judgemental.

Be curious, not judgmental.

Being curious is about trying to understand things from a deeper perspective. It’s about cultivating empathy.

So whenever you find yourself judging someone/something, use this mantra to remind yourself of being a little less judgmental and little more understanding.

10. Good things come to those who wait.

Good things come to those who wait.

In life, there is a time and place for everything. You cannot simply force things to happen.

Just like you cannot force the night to end and the day to begin. The night will end when it is the right time. The day will begin when it’s the right time. This is why, patience is the the most important virtue you can have.

Use this mantra to remind yourself to always have belief and patience and that everything that you desire will come to you when the time is right.

11. Always challenge the status quo.

Always challenge the status quo.

This mantra encourages you to question everything and live life by your own standards and not by the status quo. Ask why things are a certain way, see if a better way exists and follow through with it.

Just because a rule exists, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is the absolute truth. Just because others are doing things a certain way, doesn’t necessarily mean it is the only way.

If you don’t like it; if you think there is a better way, then by all means, go for it. Set an example for others to follow.

12. There is no time like the present.

There is no time like the present.

There is immense power that lies in the present moment.

We spend a lot of time lost in thoughts about the past or future. Use this mantra to help your mind snap out of these unconscious thoughts and come to the present moment.

The present moment is where the magic happens. What you do right now has the potential to change your life.

13. Always be learning.

Always be learning.

“Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn, and you will.” ― Vernon Howard

The moment you assume that you ‘know it all’, is the moment you stop growing. Therefore, it’s important that you always keep an open mind and always be open to learning.

Do not by any means become rigid in your beliefs or ideologies. Be fluid like water and be open to all the wisdom and knowledge that is available out there.

14. Balance in all things.

Balance in all things.

Balance is the crux of life. Everything in nature is in perfect harmony and balance.

Imagine riding a bicycle. In order to keep riding, you need to maintain balance. If you tilt too much one way or the other, you will fall down. The same principle applies to life as well.

If you become imbalanced in any aspect of your life, you will have to face the consequences. As a simplified example, if you are constantly eating an unbalanced diet then you will fall ill.

Use this mantra to remind yourself to maintain balance and moderation in all things. Balance is the secret to living a happy and peaceful life.

15. Perseverance not perfection is key to success.

Perseverance not perfection is key to success.

Perfection is just an illusion; it simply cannot be achieved. This is because, perfection is subjective in nature. What one person finds perfect, another finds flawed. Therefore, it’s never a good idea to strive for perfection.

The real key to success is perseverance or the ability to keep going in spite of the setbacks.

16. Work smarter, not harder.

Working hard is not the secret to success, rather, working smart is. You can get a lot more done with a lot less effort when you work smart. So always ask yourself if there is a better way of getting things done and keep innovating.

17. Be the change you wish to see in the world.

The best way to bring about change is to set an example for others to emulate.

If you want others to be more tolerant, be more tolerant yourself. If you want others to hate less, let go of feelings of hate from within your own self. Once you begin to change, you will start to see the world change around you.

18. Let deeds not words be your adorning.

Let deeds not words be your adorning.

Use your energy efficiently.

Do not waste your energy talking about the things you want to achieve. Instead, invest that energy in creating and actually achieving those things.

19. Remember, the glass is half full.

The glass is half full.

Everything is a matter of perspective. When you change your perspective, you see something that was completely oblivious to you before.

For example, if you focus on the night, you see darkness, but if you shift your focus just a little and look above, you see all the stars.

The stars were always there, the only thing that was required to see them was a change in perspective.

Use this mantra to remind yourself that there are many sides to every situation and with a simple change in perspective, you will be able to see them.

20. Every journey starts with a single step.

Every journey starts with a single step.

As you keep taking baby steps you slowly march toward your objective and before long, those baby steps will turn into large strides.

So do not get overwhelmed by the size of the task but rather bring your focus to what needs to be done today to start moving toward completing the task at hand.

Focus on the process rather than the outcome and you will reach your objectives easily.

21. If you want something different, do something different.

If you are tired of getting the same results over and over again, it is time that you reevaluate your process.

If you follow the same process, you will receive the same results. But just by making some minor tweaks, your results can be drastically different.

22. It’s better to light a candle than to curse the dark.

It’s better to light a candle than to curse the dark.

This mantra is a reminder that focusing on the problem isn’t going to solve it. It will only make you feel bad.

The only way to solve a problem is to focus your energy on the solutions. If there are no solutions in sight, focus your energy on finding a solution knowing that a solution exists. Always remember that you can only achieve what you believe is true.

23. Peace and presence in all circumstances.

When you are not present, you become lost in your mind and your thoughts and emotions get the better of you.

Therefore, make it a habit to bring the energy of presence into everything you do. This will help you take calculated decisions with a clear mind and reduce errors.

24. Create, don’t compete.

Create, don't compete.

When you compete, you are comparing yourself to others. You are focusing on their strengths and abilities and trying to beat that. So in a way, you become a follower.

Instead, when you create, you are focused on your own strengths and abilities. By focusing on your strengths, you are well on your way toward reaching your best version.

25. Dream big and don’t fear to fail.

Dream big and don't fear to fail.

The fear of failure will prevent you from taking action toward achieving your dreams. By giving into this fear, you start self sabotaging. Therefore, become conscious of your fear of failure and let it go by accepting failure. Dare to dream big and use failures as stepping stones to success.

26. Fewer excuses, bigger results.

Fewer excuses, bigger results.

Excuses and blame games are not going to help you. In fact, the more excuses you make the less you will make an effort to correct your actions. In order to grow, it is prudent that learn to take complete responsibility for your actions instead of passing on the buck. Let go of the habit of blaming the external and take back your power.

27. Awareness precedes change.

Awareness precedes change.

“Self-knowledge is the great power by which we comprehend and control our lives” ― Vernon howard

This mantra is similar to the one we discussed above which is, ‘ If you want something different, do something different ‘.

In order to bring about change in your life, you need to take time to self reflect by observing your thoughts and emotions. It’s only when you observe that you can start to identify negative/limiting patters (in your subconscious) that prevent you from making positive changes in your life.

Once you bring these patters into awareness, they start to disintegrate and you begin to break free from their influence. This is where change begins.

28. Always keep it simple.

Keep it simple.

The message of this mantra is to chop away at the inessentials, declutter (both within and outside), stop overthinking, let go of perfectionism, and learning to find joy in the simplest of things .

29. Be your own sunshine.

Be your own sunshine.

“Be a friend to thyself, and others will be so too.” – Thomas Fuller

‘Be your own sunshine’ is a mantra of self love and acceptance .

It reminds you that in life, you need to become your own best friend by learning to love, respect and value yourself. And that you do not need to depend on anyone else for acceptance and happiness.

30. Mindset is everything.

Mindset is everything.

Reality is subjective in nature. There is nothing that is the absolute truth. It’s all just a perception in your mind. And because it’s just a perception, it is in your control. It can be changed. As Wanye Dyer said, ‘ Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change ’.

Use this mantra to remind yourself that there are many things in this world that are beyond your control, but one thing that is always in your control is your mind and therefore your mindset.

31. Be the flame, not the moth.

– Giacomo Casanova

Be the flame, not the moth.

This is a powerful mantra that reminds you to look within yourself and get in touch with your inner power. Instead of following others, start thinking for yourself and follow your own self.

101 Life-Affirming Mantras To Live By

Positivity and gratitude are rare commodities in today’s stress-filled world.

And many times, it is hard to find a serene moment or happy thought.

In fact, without even knowing it, our world is full of opposing ideas at work and at home, such as I am a failure or I am not nice.

These ideas, without intervention, are reinforced daily.

Luckily, thoughts can be guided and changed.

By incorporating a life-affirming mantra into the daily routine, our thoughts are soothed — reinforcing inner peace and creating a more positive environment.

  • What Are Mantras?
  • How Do You Use Life Mantras and What Do They Do?

Popular Mantras

Famous mantras , daily mantras, i am mantras, mantras for life, what are mantras  .

Words have power. And mantras, when used correctly, can affect significant changes in our bodies and the world.

But what is a mantra? Mantras can be words, verbalizations, or sounds that, when repeated, focus thoughts and energy.

Mantras can be thought of silently. They can be listened to, spoken, or even sung.

People of any religion can use mantras while walking, cooking, or cleaning. Some mantras are considered sacred or religious.

These phrases, such as the universal mantra , om, have been used for centuries to achieve enlightenment and focus.

In contrast, other mantras are simple phrases or action-based affirmations. Highly personalized, these self-affirming statements give us the strength and confidence to face the world.

Most people work with mantras daily, as many business and organizational mottos can also be considered simple mantras.

Famous mottos of organizations or businesses include:

  • Carpe Diem – Odes, by the Roman poet Horace
  • Semper Fidelis – U.S. Marine Corp
  • In God we Trust – USA Dollar Bill
  • Just Do It – Nike Corporation

While affirmations usually have a literal meaning, other mantras are sounds that tap into the body’s natural vibrations. Regardless of the phrase chosen, mantras are a tool to focus on our intentions and calm our minds.

How Do You Use Life Mantras and What Do They Do?

It is often hard to quiet our thoughts in today’s busy world.

When left alone, our thoughts run in circles, repeatedly reviewing our actions and worries. This state is referred to as a busy mind .

It is a real thing resulting from overstimulation of the brain’s default network.

According to researchers, this brain system is activated by default and linked to wandering minds.

This brain network is responsible for thoughts about your past and concerns for the future. It is also the region responsible for imagining what others think about you.

Many people attempt to soothe this part of their mind by self-medication. But a new study shows that simple word or phrase repetition quiets these internal thoughts and diminishes activity in the neuroplastic system.

Like a drumbeat, word repetition triggers the relaxation of the mind, allowing us to downshift, focus, and replenish. Good mantras facilitate a more focused state.

Usually, we think of using a mantra during yoga or a formal meditative state. However, the simple act of repeating a verbalization has a measurable effect on the body and mind.

Mantra meditation also imparts a “meditation high” due to the release of endorphins in the brain. These physiological changes to the body reduce anxiety, stress, and depression.

Recite a chosen mantra to benefit from its strength and meaning throughout the day.

Even if the time for more formal meditation or yoga sessions is scarce, take a few minutes while sitting in traffic or on the train and repeat a chosen affirmation while breathing deeply.

Like a cat’s purr, the repetitive mantra sounds will soothe the mind. These vibrations help quiet and calm the conscious mind, keep one present in the moment and open up the subconscious mind for change.

A mantra a day keeps gloom away.

Image with illustration of a man meditating with mantras

I recently made a post on daily mantras talking about mantras and how to practice them. In this post, we'll get deeper into the different types of mantra examples for the various parts of life.

What are mantras?

Mantras are ancient spiritual tools that have been used for centuries as a way of focusing the mind and cultivating a positive mindset.

The word "mantra" originates from Sanskrit, where "man" means "mind" and "tra" means "instrument" or "tool."

Mantras are powerful phrases, words, or sounds repeated either silently or aloud to aid in meditation, self-reflection, and personal growth. Mantras distinctly have a strong vibration sound that resonates through the whole body, creating a peaceful and lasting effect.

Affirmations are also a type of mantra as they help clear our minds, bring peace, and grow confidence. We repeat affirmations the same way we repeat mantras to let their meaning settle with us and become our reality.

A great way to practice mantras and affirmations is to listen to them repeatedly. We have made a tool to help you do this easily and in a fun way. The Gratitude app has plenty of recorded affirmations that you can listen to and also record your own!

Listen to them as you drift off to sleep while training your subconscious mind with powerful words. You can try the app here.

6 Most Powerful Mantras for Spiritual Transformation

Mantras are powerful sacred sounds that have a deep spiritual significance. Mantras often have ancient origins and are to be repetitively chanted or listened to. This allows us to become attuned to the sound vibration and experience specific spiritual effects, deep states of meditation, and expanded consciousness.

Within this article, we will explore the topic of mantras, including more on how mantras work and how they can be used. We will also introduce 6 powerful mantras from various origins, and the purpose and benefits of these mantras.

best mantra for travel

How does a mantra work?

The word mantra is a Sanskrit word that translates as “an instrument or vehicle of the mind“. The primordial sounds of mantras are of a vibration that helps us to experience spiritual and psychological alignment. The repetitive chanting of a mantra works as a point of focus for the mind that can help us to easily enter a deep state of meditation as well as attune our vibration to the sound vibration of the mantra.

Mantras and similar concepts of sacred sound are used in many cultures and religions most notably in Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Different mantras may or may not have a literal meaning as the focus of the mantra is not really the psychological understanding but rather a deeper spiritual level experience of the powerful sound energy.

How can we use mantras?

We can include mantras into our daily practice in a few simple and enjoyable ways:

In most traditions, mantras are chanted out aloud as a focused sound meditation. The meditation is focused on the mantra and the concentrated sound vibration produced from chanting creates powerful aligning energy. This practice is sometimes combined with meditative breathwork.

Mantra can also be used in meditation by focusing and chanting the mantra mentally or internally. This can help with stilling the mind and resonating with the energy of the mantra inwardly.

You can choose to listen to recordings of mantras while you work, relax or meditate. Of course, the most optimal state to work with mantras is during meditation but listening to sacred sounds at any time can still have a positive impact on your subconscious mind and energetic state.

Mantra can be recited while holding mala or Japamala beads, which are special beads intended for this purpose. A mala usually has 108 beads that are crafted from wood or semi-precious materials. Using a mala can serve as a point of focus and intention for your mantra meditation practice.

Mantras and their benefits

There are so many powerful and beautiful mantras throughout the different lineages and in this section, we will introduce a few of the popular mantras including the uses for these mantras and the meanings (for the sake of interest as the focus of the mantra is not really the literal translation but the energy of the sounds)

Known as ‘the primordial sound’, it is significant of the natural creative cycles of life and death. You can read more about the details of the Om mantra, its benefits, and different ways to chant this mantra in our Wednesday Wisdom Blog article entitled: The Benefits of Om Chanting Meditation.

The benefits of chanting Om include calming and regulating the nervous system,

deeper presence and clarity and even balancing your hormones.

Gayatri Mantra

‘OM BHUR BUVAH SWAH, TAT-SAVITUR VARENYAM, BHARGO DEVASYA DEEMAHI, DHIYO YONAH PRACHODAYAT’

This powerful mantra is one of the oldest Sanskrit mantras, it translates to the following:‘ we meditate on God, the creator whose divine light illuminates all aspects of mind, body, and soul. May this light enlighten us’. The benefits of working with this mantra include experiencing positive energy, better focus, and memory, and it is said to reduce stress and improve breathing.

Ganesha Mantra

‘OMGAM GANAPATAYE NAMAHA’

This Hindu mantra is a salutation and invocation of Lord Ganesha. A mantra for seeking the blessings of Ganesha, which includes removing obstacles and blessing new beginnings. It is also a great mantra for protection and removing fear from the heart and mind.

Green Tara Mantra

‘OM TARA TUTTARE TURE SOHA'

This is a Hindu and Buddhist mantra connected to the Goddess Tara. She is associated with compassion, enlightenment, liberation, and manifestation. This mantra is helpful in moving through mental and emotional blockages as well as experiencing a state of inner peace.

Waheguru Mantra

‘WAHE GURU’

This mantra is one of the most important mantras in Sikhism. It is a mantra that focuses on revering God, the divine creator, and divine qualities. Chanting this mantra is said to eliminate negative energy, increase power, confidence, illumination, and experience a close connection or oneness with the divine.

Om mani padme hum Mantra

‘OM MANI PADME HUM'

This is a really popular Tibetan Buddhist mantra that translates as “praise or behold the jewel is in the lotus”. This is just one layer of the meaning of this mantra as it is said to, upon meditation, reveal many of Buddha’s key teachings. This mantra refers to the life of the lotus; it is a flower that grows in and rises up from muddy and murky water in order to surface and bloom beautifully. This mantra is said to help us move through the murky and muddy layers of life towards enlightenment. The benefits of reciting this mantra include a greater experience of presence and stillness as well as helping us let go of everything that needs to be released.

These are just a few mantras, there are so many amazing mantras to choose from and we suggest you continue your research into the mantras that pique your interest. You can choose a mantra that you feel intuitively drawn to or that you feel holds the benefits you seek. You can easily find mantras online and listen to them to get a better idea of the pronunciation. You can spend some time listening to a mantra or put them into practice by activating your throat chakra and chanting to resonate these powerful sound vibrations through your being.

7 Mantras For Protection From Enemies & Everything

Mantras For Protection

What's In This Article: ☰

Throughout my life I have used many mantras to help to keep me safe from various threats such as enemies, evil eye, black magic, health problems, and even death. Most of these mantras are from Hindu, Kundalini yoga and tantra.

In my guide to Meditation Mantras For Beginners , I’ve shared sacred sounds and recitations for every purpose from all different spiritualities.

Many readers asked for more mantras for protection. I researched through all my best mantra books and found some great ones.

Different types of protection mantras:

There are many different mantras. They include:

  • Mantras for healing diseases
  • Protection against the evil eye
  • Mantras to destroy enemies
  • Help with problems like depression
  • Help with difficult times
  • Remove enemies from your life

And there are more spiritual techniques to remove negative energy .

Protection From Enemies

The first one I’ll share is a Durga Gayatri mantra for protection from enemies and obstacles. I recite this one when I want to remove suffering from my life.

Goddess Durga is the Hindu mother of the universe and is infinitely loving to all her children. It is said that without the blessing of the Goddess Durga, nothing can be achieved in life. This one will grant Durga’s blessings.

How to destroy enemies

Sit in front of a Durga statue at sunrise and recite the following:

” Aum Mahaa-Dhevyai Cha Vidmahe Durgaayai Cha Dhimahee Thanno Dhevee Prachodayath.”

Translation:

”Om, Let me meditate on the goddess who is the daughter of Kathyayana,

Oh, maiden Goddess, give me higher intellect,

And let Goddess Durga illuminate my mind.”

Rudrayamala Tantra Mantra

This one is a big deal. You probably should not use it at all. I’m just including it here for educational purposes.

The Rudrayamal Tantra mantra is one of the most powerful black magic mantras.

People have used this (and similar ones) for thousands of years to destroy enemies and to crush the competition. I do not use this one myself because I am aware of its power.

It’s a Stambhan mantra and it comes from the Rudrayamala Tantra book. It is a rare mantra that is used to destroy enemies mentally and to stop people from causing you harm.

I recommend that you use this one only when you have been practising the Aghori tantra for a long time.

Write the following on a Bhojpatra.

om visvaaya naam gandharvalochni naami lousatikarnai tasmai vishwaya swaha

Chant it 1000 times.

Gayatri mantra

If you’re worried someone might attack you or in any way do you harm, this is said to grant divine protection.

The Gayatri mantra for enemies, which you will find below, is a Satvik Gayatri Mantra Sadhan a that is not dependent on any extreme worshipping methods.

In other words, it is completely safe to use. However, this must be used only by those who are pure of heart.

It is extremely powerful and is used to stop enemies in their tracks. However, it will only work on enemies who would otherwise hurt you.

It is, in other words, a self-defense mantra. It is not possible to use this one on people who will not harm you.

Recite it 108 times each day.

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha Om aim Hreem kleem Tatsavitur varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi Dhiuo Yo Nah Prachodayat

Bagalamukhi Mantra

Baglamukhi is a Hindu goddess who is generally depicted in yellow. She’s also known as “Pitambara Vidya.”

Bagalamukhi is famous for protecting against enemies and for destroying enemies to grant victory and acquire wealth.  It is believed that by worshipping Bagalamurki one will eliminate all enemies.

Most commonly, Bagalamukhi is depicted with a club in her right hand which she uses to attack demons. She uses her left hand to pull out the hair of demons. Bagalumukhi is the banisher of demons, which is why devotees worship her, so that she may destroy their misfortunes and enemies.

It is said that recitation will cause Balamukhi to destroy the misfortune and enemies of the worshipper.

Worshippers recite the Beej mantra 1500 times a day for 45 days.

This one is best performed using a yellow rosary and yellow clothing.

Worshippers traditionally offer yellow flowers, Diya ( an oil used for wicks), Pure Ghee and Agarbatti ( an incense).

The Bagalamurki mantra is as follows. . .

!!Om Hleem Baglamukhi Sarwdushtanam Wacham Mukham Padam Stambhay Jihwa Kilay Buddhi Vinashay Hleem Om swaha!! The Bagalamurkhi mudra means “Goddess, stop the speech and feet of my enemies. Destroy their intellect.”

 Mantra for Difficult Times

Staying strong in difficult times is crucial. I have had many difficult times in my life, such as when my father died and when I suffered a breakdown. And at those times I have turned to my mantras. For example, the Mahamritunjaya mantra for difficult times. It is a powerful healing recitation that is popular in Yoga.

The Mahamritunjaya-Mantra is used for help against illness and obstacles. It is said that this one has helped many people.

The words mean, “We worship Lord Shiva who is in supreme bliss and who sustains all beings. May Shiva liberate us from the cycle of birth and death and lead us to immortality.”

INSTRUCTIONS

  •  It may be chanted while alone or in groups that should be sitting in a circle.
  • It is at its most powerful when big groups chant it together.
  • It should be recited on an empty stomach
  • Recite it 108 times while holding a mala close to the heart. You might like to recite this in front of a shiva statue.
Om tryambakam yajaamahe sugandhim pushthivardhanam; Urvaarukamiva bandhanaan Mrityormuksheeya maamritaat.

TRANSLATION:

“We worship the three-eyed one (Lord Shiva) who is fragrant (in a state of supreme bliss), and who sustains all living beings. May he liberate us from (the eternal cycle of birth and) death. May he lead us to immortality, just as the cucumber is released from its bondage (the vine to which it is attached).”

Safety From Evil Eye

The Evil Eye is believed to cause injury and misfortune to the person it is aimed at.

One of my friends once told me that her ex had cast an evil eye spell on her out of jealousy. So I recommended a mantra for her, which I will share in a moment.

In Arabic evil eye is also called “Ayn al hasud” and in Kurdish “Caw e zar.”

There are many other names given to evil eye as it is a common belief shared between many different religions and cultures, each of which have their own names for evil eye, their own talismans and their own cures.

One of the best ways to protect against Evil Eye is with mantras. These include Shaabri mantras that will destroy Drusth.

These are very powerful and have been translated from old Marathi script.

Om namo guru adesh thujha nave bhut pale pret pale khavis pale sab pale n pale guru ki Goraknath ki beed machichale guru ki sangat meri bhagat chale mantra ishwari vacha

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Recite it 7 times Sacred ash should be put on the forehead of the individual reciting it. It is recited in dedication to Ghorakhnath, a saint and reincarnation of Shiva who is the 2nd of the 9 masters.
Nadichaya palikede mangin ubhi, haati mithachi vati, drusth payavar utar ekaya ghosthi

While reciting this, the individual should have salt or ash in hand. The salt should be moved in a circular fashion and then thrown away.

Kundalini Yoga Mantras

I have been using Kundalini mantras for many years, and I have found one excellent kundalini mantra that is over 3000 years old.

It is said that we to can use this one to create protective light around the magnetic field, protecting the practitioner.

The words are…

AAD GURAY NAMEH

Repeat it three times for yourself, Repeat three times for your kids, Repeat three times for your house and pets. This will protect each of these things.

Mrityyunjaya Mantra

The Mrityyunjaya Mantra was found by Rishi Markandeya. It is said to have been used by Sati when King Daksha cursed the moon.

It is also called the Rudra mantra, Mrita Sankivini mantra, and Tryambakam mantra.

It is addressed to the “three-eyed one”, Tryambaka.

This one is used for conquering death. It will protect a person from threats and lead to an easy death at the end of life.

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat

The words mean…

“We worship the three-eyed one, Shiva, who is sweet gladness and fragrance of life, nourishing and restoring health, and leading us to thrive. As the cucumber weakens and gourd is freed from vine, likewise free us from attachment and death and do not withhold mortality.”

Hi, thanks for the mantra. How many times per day should the mantra be chanted? Like i mean 9…..108 times?

THIS IS THE MOST EDUCATIVE AND POWERFUL MANTRAS I HAVE SEEN AND PLEASE DON’T STOP GIVING TO THIS DARK WORLD WE NOW LIVE IN THANKS LOKEY.D

It’s going to be end of mine day, but before ending I am reading this enormous article to improve my knowledge.

give an easy montra to protection from accident

for Gayatri Mantra -I have never heard it chanted with Om Aim Hreem Kleem before I need a mnatra that is powerful.I recently met someone who is I believe a Weastern Satanist and he is suffering from Bipolar disorder and personality dissorder if this person and his group have been applying practices of the most horible kind for years (and he will not name names) then what am I to do? who knows what these peope will do nor when or howThis person is leading a double life everyone thinks he is pure of heart I want to continue to be safe and get a good start to shield my family and friends. Thank You.

When can I chant rudrayamala mantra?

I tried some of the Disha Bandhan and Atma Raksha Mantra gievn on – https://www.prophet666.com/ and they did help me in getting some relief in overcoming my fear.

Hinduism is Shivism and Vaishnavism alone. Hindu Gods advocate vegetarian food habits and don’t require sacrifices. Just befriend them for protection like parents. Mantras are for protection but not necessary in this time. You can just chant Om Namo Narayanaya or Om NamaShivaya for protection. Sacrifices are only made by magicians for demi-gods who are ghosts of ancestors or kings or demons, which is not Hinduism.

Hinduism (Vaishnavism and Shivism) is there for millions of years. The creations of Hindu Gods came to us and left adam and Eve among us and are now claiming to be the Supreme Godhead’s messengers, but only Lord Vishnu is the Protoform and God of the universe.

We have temples at least 11000 years ago and deity forms of Lord Vishnu, our creator from 36000 to 1.1 million years ago at least three times older than alien Adam.

Lord Ganapati said they all came from Lord Vishnu. He is the supreme Godhead. Those who call Hindu gods as jinn will be ashamed soon.

Lord Vishnu will send his son Kalki and kill all non-vegetarians, alien Adam’s messengers and evil people and give the world to vegetarians.

Read Manjari Purana. It’s free.

Thanks for sharing this Paul. Hinduism is an old and sacred religion. It doesn’t teach us to hate any other religion. Many holy men (and women), saints and sages have done decades of meditation and penance and have received the knowledge of the mantras which has been passed down for generations. Usually, the way to get a mantra is from your Guru (a true holy person who is an advanced soul) after many years to learning and improving. A mantra received from your Guru is really effective and comes with real power; the Guru also teaches you the rules around how to use the mantra effectively. Of course, the priestly class, the Brahmins also received mantras passed done for generations and now because of the internet, it is freely available to all. Treat them with care and respect. These are sound vibrations that create certain thought and other manifestations and results for one who uses it correctly. It is not something to be taken lightly or misused. The Gods and Goddesses that are worshiped are also manifestations of the One God, the Supreme Being, worshiped in many forms. To people like @Sarah – where does it say that Jesus is the true God? Jesus himself always said he was the son of God. Maybe sarah you should read the bible properly. Hinduism does not recognize demons or Satan – again that is a Christian belief. To call our Gods demons or jinn is extremely wicked and profane. Hinduism recognizes dharma and karma. Evil in the world comes from man and for that he creates karma which he has to pay. Our Gods do not demand any blood sacrifices. Take care, Sarah. Whichever religion you believe in, recognize it for what it’s worth – why are so many Christians priests pedophiles? Do you not drink the “blood’ of Jesus during your Sunday mass? Someone who is ignorant could say Christians are all cannibals and pedophiles – would that not be a wrong statement? Making rash generalizations is wrong. Take care, Sarah – do not offer disrespect to religions and Gods you do not understand. You may be creating karma for yourself that you will need to face. Good luck in finding peace.

Wonderful resource and …just scrolling up and seeing that ignorant comment comparing Hindu deities to demons.. just WOW @ Sarah, this woman should be ashamed of herself! I commend you for such a professional and kindly response, as I do not think I myself could have displayed such control in the face of such gross disrespect and ignorance. I applaud you and thank you for sharing your wisdom!

Hello by praying to these Gods do you sell your soul?? If Jesus is the only true God then how these gods exist. After they help you are blood scarifice require. Are these gods the demons or jinn talk about

Hello, My the hindu Gods are they Not the bad gods like the demons. There is no chant for chriatians?? Are the hindu god the only god, and if you are not a hindu or Indian can you still use these chant, do you have to make a scarifice to these gods like blood once they help you

It is very sad you got Hinduism wrongly. I am not replying you to debate on religion. Sorry, you did not understand that we worship The Supreme Entity and Nature. Supreme is Male and Nature is female. Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva are 3 gods who are Divisions of the Supreme Entity based on their functionalities, this is basically a Great System. They are representing Generation, Order & Destruction(G-O-D) to make room for new Generation, respectively. Which is present in everything from an atom to the universe. That’s why we strongly believe God is in everywhere even within me and you. And God stays in higher dimension so we can not explain it in our 4 dimensions. That’s why there is no religion present on the earth who can say God looks exactly like this or that. Although one can feel his presence but cannot explain to others. And yoga is a way which is a very popular way in Hinduism to feel God. All other male gods present in Hinduism are an incarnation of these gods. We worship nature as Durga, Kali, Sati, Laxmi etc. These are the different forms of Power, Power of Nature which work by order of God like a good wife is always careful about her husband desire, that is why we imagine a marital relationship between them. And about sacrifice, it is not performed to make them happy but to “sacrifice” a loving thing in the name of God. If you would sacrifice habit of eating your favorite oily snacks it will also work. Also, you might ask if God cant be explained in this dimension then why we worship photos and idols of “imaginary” persons? The answer is we imagine with our logic that we have generated based on huge knowledge about nature and god of our ancestors and most importantly those imaginary idols or photos are representing the God to us so when seeing them we can focus on the God only just like you can remember your parents by watching their photographs that also does not mean you can not remember them without watching the photographs same way you don’t need to have photos or idols always to remember God.

Well , that said ” it is also important to digest the co efficient truth ” What is the purpose of this Life – Not explained What is the point in being ritualistic thru – Pancha kaalam

Why is that I am writing this out of Ignorance, even when I know what you reply back also want reach me?

Yes, Trimurti are the Gurus and shakti’s are the forms of Existence but then, I feel so disheartened to know the Evil beings are also co existent and don’t allow you to be the same – they chose Maya as the next.

REALLY POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE

May you be blessed for your work to help people protect themselves.

I have been working on a book intended to ask people to stop cursing & black magic

I need your help. If you are aware of ways by which people can be protected and healers which can heal, please let me know

It will help so many who suffer

Warm regards

As the world now busy with work situation, we are not able to chant the manthra for 108 times a day, is it any suggestion to chant manthra in a small ount of times…..please recommend it.

Hi Shasitharan, thank you for your message. It should take about 50 minutes to recite the mantra 108 times. If you dont have time to do it each day recite it 108 times once a week twice a week.

You can do it 9 times dear or even 3 times at a time whenever you get time.

What is a Mantra?

What exactly is a mantra?

A mantra is any word(s), sound(s) or collection of words or sounds designed to promote focus, aid concentration or increase confidence.

Many people use the word mantra interchangeably with affirmations.

While all affirmations are a form of mantras, not all mantras are affirmations.

The main difference between affirmation and mantras s that a mantra can be sounds and phrases (like Ommmm in yoga & meditation) designed to aid concentration. But affirmations are centered around positive thinking phrases mainly used to build confidence.

[Want to get your kids started on the positive habit of using mantras/affirmations in their lives? Check out this collection of 105 affirmations designed for kids .]

How do Mantras Work?

Many mantras are based on specific repetitive sounds. Like this Sanskrit mantra “ Om Bekhandze Bekhandze Maha Bekhandze Randza Sumundgate Soha ”

Mantra’s use these repetitive sounds to reach the subconscious mind.

The sounds are soothing, they calm the mind, even if we do not understand fully understand the phrases,

Of course, translating a mantra gives you an affirmation where the words have the additional benefit of imparting a sense of confidence with time when repeated.

Here are some of the traditional Sanskrit mantra’s and their meanings in English.

  • Shanti – Peace
  • Dharma – Righteous path
  • Ananda – Bliss
  • Prasada – Radiance or happiness
  • Prajna – Wisdom
  • Bhakti – Devotion, faith, love

While mantras are often thought of in reference to eastern religions, by no means is this the only place you have mantras. Often repeated Catholic and Christian prayers are also mantras. As are many Latin phrases in common use today, such as, “ caveat emptor ”, “ carpe diem ” and “ semper fidelis ”

Finally, all repeated and spoken phrases in the English (or any) language are also mantras. Commonly known as “affirmations” these mantras are repeated for the purpose of building confidence, quieting anxiety or trying to take advantage of the neuroplasticity of the human brain.

In the next section, we feature the ten best daily mantras . These mantras are all shared on beautiful backgrounds that will further help bring calm and peace to your life.

Feel free to save, these images wherever you desire, or print them out to post in a prominent place as a reminder to use these mantras every day.

These daily mantras can help quiet anxiety. They can help to boost happiness. And finally, they will help to inspire self-confidence. Repeat one (or all!) of these mantras daily to yourself for the best results.

9. I let go of anything not for my highest good

I let go of anything not for my highest good

In life, it is important to let go of the past and focus on the present, future and the things that you can change.

When you fail to forgive yourself for past mistakes you are only hurting yourself. The same is true when you are still bitter over things others have done to you in the past.

A good example of letting go and focusing on the “highest good” is after a breakup with someone you love. You could sit around angry and hurt about a failed relationship or you could go out and try to find someone new (and better). I always choose to strive for that higher good.

This mantra is a wonderful reminder to both give love and be willing to receive love, The love in the universe is infinite. Sometimes you just need to open yourself up to experience the love. This love mantra is a great reminder of that.

35 Mantras for Positive Thinking

Positive thinking is one of the key benefits of mantras. One of the thoughts behind mantras is change. When you are trying to change yourself and your habits, repeating positive mantras will help you convince yourself that something is true.

In many ways mantras are the “ fake it ‘til you make it ” method of habit change. Of course, positivity will not work in a vacuum. You are not going to become more confident by JUST repeating a mantra, but then you couple the mantra repetition by putting yourself in situations where you can grow, and gain confidence mantras can help to speed up the process.

When repeating these positive daily mantras be sure to:

  • Declare your mantras powerfully
  • Believe in what you say
  • Take actions to back up your words
  • Trust that in time, your negative self-thoughts will no longer have power, and your thoughts will only inspire you.

Feel free to use any of the positive affirmations below. Or use them as mantra templates to create your own powerful affirmations. Create your personal affirmations to reflect the things that are important to you. In your own unique voice.

It will get done.

I am proud of myself

Happiness is a choice, not a condition. I choose to be happy.

Negative thoughts only have the power I allow them.

My greatest struggles are my greatest lessons.

Only you can steal your own joy.

Tomorrow is a new day

My thoughts are filled with positivity and my life is plentiful with prosperity.

If I can change my thoughts, I can change anything.

I am calm, connected to others and cared for

I do not judge myself or others

Whether you say, “I can” or “I can’t,” you’re right either way.

I believe in my potential

My thoughts do not control me, I control my thoughts.

I have the power to create change

Nothing lasts forever. Not the good, and not the bad.

I feel beautiful, I am beautiful

Great things are achieved thru small steps

I radiate beauty, charm, and grace.

I do not need anyone’s approval but my own.

My life is just beginning

I am the person I want to be. My future is in my hands.

Choose kindness. You have no idea the things other people are going through

If I desire greatness, I must work for it.

My business is growing, expanding, and thriving.

To struggle is not to fail.

Go slowly. Take the time to do things right.

I will not take for granted the people who love me.

A river of compassion washes away my anger and replaces it with love.

Look back at the past. Marvel at how far you have come.

The grass looks greener on the other side.  Stop looking at the other side. Stop comparing.  Stop complaining.  Begin to water the grass you’re standing on.

The true measure of success is not how many times you fall down, but how many times you get back up.

One bad chapter does not make the book of your life.

Worry is a waste of time. It has no benefits and takes away time and resources better spent on doing.

Good riddance to decisions that don't support self-care, self-value, and self-worth.

No one has ever been blinded by looking at the bright side of things.

30 “I AM” Mantras (and how to make your own personalized mantras)

“I am…” mantras and affirmations are the most common sort of home-brewed mantras around.

“I am” mantras can be used in two ways. First, they can target whatever you feel are your deficiencies to help improve them. Secondly, they can be used as a reminder of your many strengths. Reaffirming the things, you do well.

How you use “I am” mantras is up to you. I would recommend a few of both types used as daily mantras. But in the end, I would also recommend not going with more than 10 total “I am” mantras said each day (10 times each). Much more than that number and it begins to lose efficiency because you are just repeating a long list of gobbledygook.

Below is a list of examples of “I am” mantras. Feel free to use any you desire in your daily routine. But I would also recommend trying to make some of your own. It makes the process of using mantras and affirmations more personal.

Let’s get to it….

I AM grateful. I approach life with gratitude for all the gifts that have been bestowed upon me.

I AM focusing on all that is working well in my life.

I AM focusing my thoughts, words and actions on my desired reality and what I want to experience in my life.

I AM letting go and taking care of me.

The first step to changing a pattern is to see it. I AM Self-Aware.

I AM happy. I realize that only I have the power to control my own happiness

I AM moving beyond what I once thought possible.

I AM bigger than my fears, larger than my reactions and greater than my judgments.

I AM a creative being with unlimited potential.

I AM a money magnet.

I AM stronger than I realize and more powerful than I know.

I AM following my passion and finding my purpose.

Every time I choose love over fear and peace instead of a reaction, I elevate my vibration and send out a wave of positive energy into the world.  I AM part of the solution.

I AM listening for the wisdom from within.

I AM flourishing

I AM clever, courageous and caring

I AM allowing everything I’ve been through that has led me to this moment, this is the launching pad for my success.

When I’m in a state of gratitude I’m in a state of receivership. I AM Grateful.

I AM forgiving myself, accepting myself & releasing self-judgment.

I AM creating my reality. I AM writing my own story. Anything is possible.

I AM loved and supported.

I AM lucky, happy and healthy

I let go of struggle & suffering. I AM allowing in joy & wellness.

I AM worthy of the richness I desire.

I AM ready to accept a happy and fulfilling relationship

I AM patient with myself and patient with others.

I AM envisioning myself as healthy, joyous and well.

I AM doing what I love and being of great benefit to others.

I AM strong. Both mentally and physically.

I AM ready and capable.

I AM blessed.

Daily Mantra Apps

Finally, we come to a few apps that can give you a daily dose of mantras. Apps can be a great way to discover daily mantras since they have a diverse database to draw upon.

By the same token, this can be a drawback for using mantra apps. The mantras change daily. Many may not apply to you and resonate with your life and needs. While variety is great, part of the power of mantras is in the repetition, which you would get a lot less of with a more varied database of mantras.

Of course, having an electronic reminder to say your mantras is certainly a positive thing. IN our busy lives, something like a few spiritual moments spend being mindful is often one of the first things that get shunted aside as being “too busy”.

Having an app “bug you” to be mindful of these situations can only help.

So, there are advantages and disadvantages of using any of the mantra apps. It all comes down to what is best for your lifestyle. But here are a few of the noted mantra/mindfulness/affirmation apps.

Magic Wand Micro Rechargeable Wand Massager

Why it's worth it: The Magic Wand is a classic for a reason. But there's no denying the original version of the legendary vibrator takes up a lot of space in your suitcase at more than a foot long. And if you travel with the corded version , you also have to hope there's an accessible outlet in your hotel room. Luckily, there's the Magic Wand Micro, which has everything you love about the Magic Wand in a teeny-tiny (but powerful!) package. It measures less than five inches long and offers three speeds and four vibration patterns to play with.

Editor's tip: This vibrator has a lengthy three-hour battery life, so depending on how long your trip is and how much you'll use the vibrator, you may not need to bring a charger.

Type: wand vibrator | Material: silicone | Modes: 3 speeds and 4 patterns | Waterproof: no | Battery: 3 hours | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best Couple's Sex Toy: We-Vibe Chorus

We-Vibe Chorus aqua vibrator on light grey background

We-Vibe Chorus

Why it's worth it: We-Vibe's Chorus is a truly innovative toy that's sure to heat up any couple's vacation. It's a wearable vibrator that can be controlled either with the included remote or with the We-Vibe app, which lets you create your own unique vibration patterns. The adjustable design makes it so that one arm vibrates against your clit while the other vibrates against your internal hotspots. It can also be worn during penetrative sex, so if your partner has a penis, they'll feel some of the vibrations too. If you're feeling daring, wear the vibrator out to dinner and let your partner tease you until you have no choice but to drag them back to the hotel room.

Editor's tip: We-Vibe has a ton of other couple-friendly wearable vibrators worth checking out. Some of our favorites are the We-Vibe Sync 2 , which offers many of the same features as the We-Vibe Chorus at a slightly lower price point, and the We-Vibe Moxie , a panty vibrator that's all about clit stimulation.

Type: wearable vibrator | Material: ABS and body-safe silicone | Modes: 10, plus whatever you create in the We-Vibe app | Waterproof: yes, though the remote is not fully waterproof | Battery: up to 90 minutes runtime | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best Bullet Vibrator: LELO Mia 3

Purple LELO Mia 3 bullet vibrator on light gray background

Why it's worth it: This vibrator was practically designed for travel. The LELO Mia 3 looks like a mascara tube, but it's a lot more fun than any cosmetic. It has eight powerful settings, a tapered tip that provides targeted clitoral stimulation, and a travel lock so it won't start buzzing in your bag. It's also completely waterproof, so you can use it in the shower or bathtub at your hotel. In addition to selling lipstick-like sex toys, LELO also sells actual lipstick . Talk about one-stop shopping.

Editor's tip: If you want to save a few bucks, LELO Mia's 2 offers many of the same travel-friendly benefits, but the slight difference is that it comes programmed with six vibration patterns versus Mia 3's eight.

You also have the option to pull out the included bullet vibrator and put your preferred one in the sleeve if you want different vibrations.

Type: vibrating plug | Material: silicone, ABS plastic | Modes: 3 speeds and 4 patterns | Waterproof: yes | Battery: 1.5 Volt N LR1 battery | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Plus, since it doesn't vibrate, there's no chance it'll start buzzing in your carry-on. It also has protector lids for both ends, making it easy and discreet to travel with.

Type: penis stroker | Material: soft plastic | Modes: N/A | Waterproof: yes | Battery: N/A | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best Quiet Vibrator: Zumio S

Purple Zumio S vibrator on light gray background

Why it's worth it: This unique rechargeable vibrator has a soft tip that rotates around your clit or other body parts for a thrilling sensation that doesn't overwhelm your body, making it easier for some people to achieve multiple orgasms. "Most times it takes my wife 45 minutes to 1 hour to orgasm," a reviewer shared. "With the Zumio S, it took five minutes. She orgasmed 6 times in 1 hour, and her clitoris wasn't overly sensitive." There are eight modes to explore, and you can apply different levels of pressure for different sensations. The Zumio S also features a travel lock and is very quiet, making it a great travel sex toy.

Editor's tip: If you like pinpoint stimulation on your most sensitive spots, you'll like this toy.

Type: external vibrator | Material: silicone, ABS plastic | Modes: 8 | Waterproof: yes | Battery: not specified | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Longest Battery Life: Womanizer Pro 40

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Rechargeable Clitoral Stimulator

Womanizer Pro 40

Why it's worth it: There's a lot to love about this clit-sucking vibrator: the Pleasure Air Technology that stimulates the clit without direct contact, the fact that it's waterproof, and the compact size, for starters. But what truly made the rechargeable Womanizer Pro 40 stand out as one of the best travel sex toys is the long 4-hour battery life. So if you get to your destination and realize you forgot the charging cable, it's no big deal, especially considering this toy is known for bringing people to orgasm in just a few minutes.

Editor's tip: Tons of reviewers say this toy is quiet so you don't have to worry about the people in the adjoining room hearing the buzz of a toy. Now, will you be able to be quiet while you're using it? Different story.

Type: suction vibrator | Material: silicone, ABS plastic | Modes: 6 | Waterproof: yes | Battery: 4 hour runtime | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best for Pinpointed Stimulation: LELO Dot Travel

Pink LELO Dot Travel on light gray background

LELO Dot Travel

Why it's worth it: This iteration of the LELO Dot is literally designed with travel in mind. LELO's Dot Travel is compact, measuring about five and a half inches long, and features a travel lock. The soft pinpoint tip stimulates the clit without overstimulating or causing it to go numb, which can happen with other more rumbly vibrators. This waterproof device offers eight vibration modes to rotate through so there's never a dull moment.

Editor's tip: You can also use the soft pinpoint tip to tease the nipples or other parts of the body.

Type: clitoral vibrator | Material: silicone, ABS plastic | Modes: 8 | Waterproof: yes | Battery: up to 1 hour | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Most Versatile: Dame Pom

Dame Pom light blue tear shaped vibrator on a light grey vibrator

Why it's worth it: While many sex toys are designed to be used specifically on one body part, the beauty of Dame's Pom is that you can use it basically anywhere. The fin on one end of the vibrator can be used for targeted stimulation on the clit or nipples, or you can use the wider spots of the toy to stimulate the vulva, penis, or testicles. It's a toy that invites you to spend a long, leisurely afternoon exploring your body and/or your partner's.

Editor's tip: Pom has a helpful travel mode, but it can be confusing to get the toy out of travel mode. To activate travel mode, you'll hold the power button for 10 seconds. To exit travel mode, you need to plug Pom in. So don't forget your charging cable at home!

Type: external vibrator | Material: silicone | Modes: 5 intensity levels and 5 patterns | Waterproof: yes | Battery: 1 hour runtime | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best Rabbit Vibrator: Playboy Pleasure Lil Rabbit Vibrator

Forest green Playboy Pleasure Lil Rabbit Vibrator on light gray background

Playboy Pleasure Lil Rabbit Vibrator

Why it's worth it: While we love rabbit vibrators , they aren't always the most compact toys. This one, however, is perfectly travel-size at just under six inches in total (that includes an insertable length of 3.75 inches). It has seven vibrating speeds and functions to stimulate both your internal and external erogenous zones simultaneously, but that's not all. It's also completely submersible and USB-rechargeable, with a runtime between 40 and 80 minutes.

Editor's tip: The petite size also makes this a great vibrator for people who want to try a rabbit-style vibrator but have been wary of other ones on the market, which generally have larger shafts.

Type: rabbit vibrator | Material: silicone | Modes: 7 | Waterproof: yes | Battery: 40 to 80-minute runtime depending on settings used | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Most Affordable: PlusOne Vibrating Bullet

PlusOne Vibrating Bullet blue bullet vibrator on light gray background

PlusOne Vibrating Bullet

Why it's worth it: Sometimes, you just want to keep things simple. The PlusOne Vibrating Bullet is easy to travel with and easy to use during partnered sex, thanks to its super compact size. It has 10 different vibration settings and is rechargeable, which isn't always the case with vibrators at this affordable price point. Plus, you can get it at CVS or Walmart, so it's easy to grab when you're doing the rest of your last-minute trip shopping.

Editor's tip: This toy is completely waterproof, so go ahead and indulge in some solo self-care in the hotel bathtub.

Type: bullet vibrator | Material: silicone | Modes: 10 | Waterproof: yes | Battery: up to 2 hours runtime | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

Best Dildo: CalExotics Boundless 4.5-Inch Slim Dildo

Black CalExotics Boundless 4.5 Inch Slim Dildo and standing base on light gray background

CalExotics Boundless 4.5 Inch Slim Dildo

Adam & Eve

Why it's worth it: If you're anxious about bringing a vibrating toy through the TSA security line in your carry-on, there's a simple solution: Bring a toy that doesn't vibrate. The CalExotics Boundless 4.5-inch Slim Dildo is compact and compatible with harnesses if you want to use it as a strap-on. It also has a strong suction cup base, so you can stick it to the shower wall for hands-free fun. While many of the toys on this list are meant for external use, this one can be used to stimulate the G-spot.

Editor's tip: If you're using this anally, don't forget to pack some lube .

Type: dildo | Material: silicone | Modes: N/A | Waterproof: yes | Battery: N/A | Lube compatibility: water-based lube

For this article, Allure editors looked for sex toys that met our criteria of being compact, quiet, and discreet. We also looked for toys that have travel lock options or other features that make them particularly travel-friendly, such as a hard-shell charging case or a long-lasting battery.

Per the TSA website , adult toys are allowed to go in your checked luggage or your carry-on. TSA agents have seen it all before, so there's no need to feel weird about having a vibrator or other sex toy in your luggage.

You'll likely want to carry the toy in some kind of bag or small box to keep it separate from the rest of your stuff. Many sex toys come with a storage pouch when you buy them, and they're great for travel. Other toys come with a charging case that keeps it protected. You could also use a clear Ziploc bag, which helps ensure that if your bag does get pulled for a security screening, the TSA agent can see the item without having to touch it directly. You should also do your best to make sure the toy doesn't turn on in your bag. There are a few ways to do this. Obviously, you can use the travel lock feature if your toy has one. If the toy is battery-powered, remove the batteries from the toy and pack them separately. If you're traveling with a rechargeable toy that doesn't have a travel lock, you can do your best to make sure the toy is dead when you pack it, and then recharge it when you get to your destination. Alternatively, if all of this makes you too nervous, you could bring a non-vibrating sex toy, like a silicone dildo or a penis sleeve.

It might be embarrassing, but that's pretty much it. Unless you're dealing with very unusual circumstances, you'll be allowed to continue with the toy in your bag. Plus, you'll have a funny story to tell your friends when you return from vacation.

Don’t waste your money while traveling internationally. How to save when going abroad.

You’re finally taking that big trip abroad.

For as much time and energy you’ve spent saving up and searching for the best deals on flights or cruises, places to stay, and travel experiences, it would be a shame to blow extra money at the last minute. But that’s what you’ll be doing if you don’t use your cash and credit wisely.

“The thing I never, ever, ever recommend doing abroad is (using) your debit card to pay for things unless you're withdrawing money from an ATM,” said consumer savings expert Matt Granite, who’s known as The Deal Guy on YouTube .

Here’s why and what else travelers should know before visiting another country:

Learn more: Best credit cards of 2023

Can you use debit cards internationally?

Yes, but Granite strongly discourages using it to pay for anything but ATM withdrawals.

“You've just given a terminal that you are unfamiliar with access to your bank account with a pin. You've absolutely no idea what happens beyond that point,” he warned.

Is it better to travel with cash or credit?

“You generally want cash on you, always, in case of an emergency,” Granite said.

Cash is also useful for gratuities and small purchases. For larger transactions, he recommends credit, provided there are no foreign transaction fees.

“You're more likely to encounter fraud or operators not necessarily giving you what you've paid for when you're in a remote area where you don't know where you are, you don't know who you're dealing with. The potential for a ripoff is a lot higher than where we're on our own territorial ground,” Granite said. “So always use your credit card because if there is a problem, you are not responsible for your purchase. You have coverage. You have fraud investigations. They'll put a hold on a suspicious transaction. You have everything in the world working for you.”

How can I avoid foreign currency transaction fees?

Call your credit card company or look up their policies online before leaving for your trip, and avoid using any cards that charge fees.

How much cash should you travel with internationally?

“I would say that anyone traveling for more than three days in a country should have the equivalent of at least $300 with them,” Granite said.

He suggests the equivalent of $500 for families, adding that it could be less for destinations where the dollar is strong.

“You always need to say to yourself: ‘What do I do if I need to get from an airport to a hotel to pay for one night of the hotel when my credit card is stolen?” he said. “You need to be able to survive abroad for 24 to 48 hours, where your credit card company can emergency FedEx or DHL your (new) credit card to you.”

Where are US dollars accepted?

Several foreign countries use the U.S. dollar as official currency or tender. They include:

◾ Bonaire , St Eustatius and Saba

◾ British Virgin Islands

◾ El Salvador

◾ Marshall Islands

◾ Micronesia

◾ Timor-Leste

◾ Turks and Caicos

U.S. dollars are also the currency in U.S. territories like Puerto Rico and Guam. Some businesses in other destinations accept dollars at will.

How to get foreign currency

There are several ways to get foreign currency before and during your trip. You can order foreign currency from your bank for a fee. You can exchange cash at a currency exchange kiosk, though the exchange rate will not favor you. You can also withdraw cash at an ATM at your destination.

“Another trick that I use is if you are traveling and you do have a credit card with zero foreign transaction fees, you can often get very good exchange rates from both chain and boutique hotels to a limit,” Granite said, explaining that the front desk can give you local currency, then add that amount to your hotel bill like a room incidental. “Not all hotels can, but many hotels, specifically in Europe, will be very pleased to do so.”

Should I get foreign currency before I travel?

You don’t need to, but if you want to, Granite said, “Your bank can definitely give you a wonderful experience, provided the U.S. dollar is stronger before you leave.”

“For example, if you were traveling to Canada, it is 100% in your favor to get the Canadian dollar from the U.S. bank before you travel if the U.S. currency is stronger. But when we're looking at currencies like the British pound, better to do everything when you get to London, not beforehand,” he added.

Where is the best place to exchange currency?

Many travelers prefer to withdraw from ATMs at their destination for better exchange rates, but there are instances when you may opt for a pricey currency exchange kiosk instead.

“Those booths, they're generally in very well-lit areas. They're very secure. They're often in airports or in the mecca center of a city if you are traveling somewhere where you have concerns over your safety,” Granite said, recalling one of his past trips. “I would have gotten a considerably better rate by going to some of the ATMs that were not in areas (where) I should be walking at certain times of the day. I will gladly take the hit of $15 on a $100 withdrawal for safety.”

Consider how much you take out if you use a currency exchange booth.

“Some people will have the concept of they're going to take a little bit and they're going to find an ATM, and then they're going to be OK,” he said. “But the more you withdraw from those places, the rates are generally more within your favor. And there's generally a maintenance or a convenience fee attached to that one transaction, so you're paying $15 whether you take out $5 or $1,000.”

Can I withdraw money at a foreign ATM?

Yes, but watch out for fees.

Just like at home, you may be charged usage fees by both the ATM and your bank for withdrawing cash out of network.

You can avoid or limit those fees by sticking to ATMs within your bank’s Global ATM Alliance , Granite said. You can look up banking partners online before you even leave home. Apps like ATM Fee Saver can help you locate fee-free ATMs while traveling.

Be aware that if your bank account normally limits the number of withdrawals you can make each month before incurring fees, foreign withdrawals also count toward that limit, he warned.

He also reminded travelers that ATMs are legally required to disclose fees on screen.

“If you find an ATM you don't like, you can decline. You can take your card out, and then you can walk a block and go to the next ATM,” he said. “I think a lot of people feel compelled – it's a weird psychological thing – that once your card is in the machine, you have to complete your purchase. That is actually not the case.”

Can you withdraw cash on a credit card?

Yes, but you should avoid it.

“Always use your debit card when you're going to an ATM. The credit card fees are horrendous,” Granite said. “No one will ever have a good experience using a credit card and an ATM, and there should be no reason to do so unless your account is completely empty, and by that point you have other problems.”

He also warned that if your debit card is co-branded with a major credit card company, like Visa or Mastercard, make sure withdrawals are made as debit, not credit.

Do I need to notify my credit card of international travel?

Not necessarily.

“Most credit card companies these days, within the last three to five years, have such sophisticated AI on you, they've already known you've booked your trip,” Granite said. “They've figured out somewhere along the way that you have a flight or you have a tour, or you've browsed on their app, something tied to where you're going, and they know you're going.”

There’s no need to tip in Japan. Here’s what else travelers should know.

Should I pay in foreign currency or USD?

“Always use your credit card in the local currency,” Granite said. “When you put your credit card into a machine to pay for something and it asks you, Do you want to convert? Never convert.”

How to get rid of leftover foreign currency

The easiest way to get rid of extra foreign currency is to spend it.

“You almost never want to convert it back,” Granite said. “If you do end up with too much cash, which we have on trips before, we'll do things like pay for the balance of our hotel using cash.”

Another option is to hold onto the currency if you think you’ll go back to the destination.

“I find that even if you put that cash into an envelope and it sits in the safe, and you go back three years later, I never forget when I have pounds or euros in the safe based on what it took me to get them,” Granite said.

Flight Attendants Love These 14 Suitcases — and They're on Sale From $35 for Amazon Prime Day

Score brands like Samsonite, Rockland, Travelpro, and more.

best mantra for travel

Travel + Leisure / Amazon (3)

Finding the perfect piece of luggage for your adventures is an essential part of any good travel experience, and there’s no source more reliable for recommendations than flight attendants. The nature of their job requires a reliable bag that won’t skimp on packing space while abiding by airline regulations, and with Amazon Prime Day right around the corner, many of their favorite selections are currently on sale.

Seeing as now is the perfect time to trade in your old bag for a suitcase that’s designed to last, we’ve rounded up the 14 best, flight attendant-loved suitcases from brands like Samsonite , Rockland , Travelpro , and Delsey Paris that are all discounted at Amazon . With prices starting at just $35, you can rest assured that there’s a bag for every budget included on the list.

Samsonite Freeform Hardside Expandable Carry-on

Samsonite is one of the leading luggage brands, so it should come as no surprise that even flight attendants have given their stamp of approval to this best-selling suitcase . Its expandable design is an asset for overpackers looking to squeeze as much as possible into their suitcase, while four spinner wheels allow for smooth transport through the airport, across cobblestone streets, and even over plush hotel rugs. Just take it from this frequent traveler , who raved that the bag was “great for [a] four-week, carry-on-only trip,” and it even “whipped around with ease on hardwood floors through the airport.”

Amazon Basics Expandable Hardside Carry-on Luggage

Aside from being a go-to retailer for all your travel essentials, Amazon has also proven to be a reliable designer of durable luggage. In fact, one flight attendant dubbed this carry-on bag “perfect for traveling” since it provides “lots of space” and is “easy to maneuver through the airport.” It’s made with a scratch-resistant exterior that will remain in pristine condition from trip to trip, and it even features an expandable design which provides travelers with up to 25 percent more packing space — even for a simple weekend getaway.

Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Expandable Upright Carry-on

Across the board, Travelpro suitcases are well-regarded by flight attendants, and this softside carry-on is no exception. The lightweight design makes it easier than ever to lift into the overhead compartment (even when packed to the brim), and the bag expands an additional two inches for maximum packing potential. One flight attendant shared that they “use this bag five to seven days a week” and “after a year it still looks brand new.” In fact, they even go as far as to refer to it as their “forever suitcase.”

Ibfun Weekender Bag 3-piece Set

Just as there are scenarios when a rolling suitcase will be your bag of choice, a good weekender duffel should also earn a place in your luggage lineup — and flight attendants can’t get enough of this three-piece set from Ibfun. The large canvas duffel is designed with a handy shoe compartment at its base that doubles as storage for dirty laundry, while the tote also boasts a sleeve at the back for stacking atop your rolling luggage. According to one flight attendant , “this bag is perfection for frequent travelers.”

Level8 Grace Expandable Carry-on Luggage

Expandable bags are a surefire way to boost your packing space while still fitting everything inside of just a carry-on bag, and this hardside suitcase from Level8 is a flight attendant-approved choice. The front of this clam-shell bag boasts a convenient (and well-protected) laptop compartment that makes this suitcase ideal for work trips, and an exterior made from three layers of micro-diamond material provides all the durability you need. Best of all, shoppers can score this bag for $15 off for a limited time thanks to a coupon available at checkout.

U.S. Traveler Rio Lightweight Carry-on Suitcase

Currently sitting at 50 percent off, this carry-on luggage duo is a brilliant companion to your summer travel plans, and one flight attendant even admitted they were “shocked at how durable and dependable this set is.” Both bags are made from the same sturdy polyester exterior that allow them to weather the natural wear and tear of life on the go, and they’re even stackable so you can avoid fumbling with multiple pieces of luggage while hustling through the airport. At just $18 per bag right now, this pairing is a steal.

Delsey Paris Titanium Hardside Expandable Luggage

Splitting the difference between a carry-on suitcase and a large checked bag, this 25-inch spinner is ideal for trips of varying lengths — and it’s on sale for 38 percent off at Amazon right now. An impressed flight attendant shared that seeing as they consider themselves “a luggage expert,” they feel comfortable assuring travelers that they “won’t be disappointed” by this “great quality bag.” It’s made with an ultra-strong polycarbonate shell that shouldn’t scratch or crack (even with regular use), and it even comes with a built-in TSA-approved lock which adds another layer of protection to your belongings.

Tprc Smart Underseat Carry-on Luggage

A rolling suitcase that fits beneath your airplane seat may be hard to come by, which is why you should jump at the chance to snag this compact tote from Tprc while it’s on sale for an impressive $48. The small, 6-pound suitcase is perfect for business trips and weekend getaways alike, and with two wheels affixed to the base, it’s easy to travel with as well. And while this bag has earned more than 7,200 five-star ratings from happy Amazon shoppers, it’s also received rave reviews from flight attendants, one of whom noted that they reach for it during day trips because it’s “light, has enough pockets, and can easily fit under a seat if needed.”

Rockland Fashion Softside Upright Luggage 2-Piece Set

Investing in a two-piece luggage set is a great way to get the most bang for your buck, and at a whopping 47 percent off, this highly-rated set from Rockland will check all of your boxes — and flight attendant’s boxes as well, for that matter. The lightweight, packable duo has impressively earned 46,300-plus five-star ratings at Amazon, with one airline worker among them sharing that it even fits in the smallest carry-on overhead bins” and offers “just enough space without being too bulky.” Available for a mere $21 per bag, this set is the deal of the summer as we head into Prime Day.

Samsonite Winfield 2 Hardside Carry-on

Samsonite’s hardside luggage is some of the best and most reliable on the market, so when one of its top bags is spotted with a 30 percent off discount, we tend to take notice. Complete with a side-mounted, TSA-approved lock, and stunning chrome exterior, this suitcase is a reliable choice for your impending summer travels. With one shopper raving that their flight attendant daughter “loves how smooth” the wheels are as the bag “has held up great” during “daily travels,” it’s safe to say that this is a top-notch choice.

Travelpro Platinum Elite Softside Expandable Carry-on Luggage

This softside Travelpro suitcase is expandable, spacious, shopper-loved, and best of all, flight attendant-approved. Every detail from the contour grip handle to the magnetic wheels has been carefully thought out, and it’s perfect for work travel thanks to a spacious laptop pocket at the front of the bag that’s easy to access in a pinch. A side-carry handle takes the stress out of getting your bag down from the overhead compartment when it’s time to deplane, and while it’s certainly on the pricier side, the more than 3,500 five-star ratings are a testament to this bag’s value and reliability.

Kroser Carry-on Underseat Multi-functional Underseat Suitcase

Travelers who prefer to pack minimally will be thrilled to find that this lightweight underseat suitcase is now available for just $77 thanks to a special on-site coupon — and flight attendants can’t get enough of it. One airline worker referred to it as “airline friendly” as well as a “good turn-bag” for quick flights, even adding that it was easy to stack atop their “roll-aboard” tote. The compact shape slides beneath the seats of most commercial airlines without fuss, and its clam-shell design allows for organized packing with ample room to spare.

Travelpro Maxlite 5 Softside Lightweight Underseat Carry-on Travel Tote

With many flight attendants turning to Travelpro for their luggage, it should come as no surprise that this underseat carry-on has received high praise from airline workers.  One called it “perfect for professional travelers,” while another shared that they “recommend this to anyone who travels often.” The softside material makes it incredibly malleable while boasting a staggering amount of space for such a small bag. Plus, it’s water-repellent and rip-resistant.

Delsey Paris Helium Aero Hardside Expandable Luggage

Longer trips may call for a reliable checked bag, and travelers have met their match in this hardside suitcase from Delsey Paris that’s currently on sale for $126. Naturally, you want your suitcase to be able to take on the strain of being tossed into the plane and tumbling down the luggage shoot without cracking, and the lightweight yet sturdy polycarbonate exterior does just that, making this bag a worthy investment. The interior boasts two lined compartments alongside zippered dividers for an organized and spacious packing experience.
