Program for 4 Days High Atlas Bird Watching Travel from Marrakech:

Day 1 : marrakech - high atlas mountains - oukaimeden.

Embark on an unforgettable birding tour from Marrakech as we welcome you at your hotel or pick you up from the local Marrakech airport (Accommodation the day before the birding tour is available upon request - please contact us). Our journey begins with a scenic drive up to the High Atlas Mountains, where you'll experience the beauty of the region. During the comfortable ride, keep an eye out for resident species such as the Moroccan Magpie, Moussier's Redstart, Southern Grey Shrike, Little Owl, Sardinian Warbler, and House Bunting. As we navigate the rocky slopes, we'll have the chance to spot the stunning Blue Rock Thrush and the elusive Levaillant's Green Woodpecker. Once we reach the renowned Moroccan ski resort of Oukaimeden, prepare to be amazed by sightings of the magnificent Crimson- winged Finch, as well as Rock Sparrow, Alpine Chough, and Atlas Horned Lark. We will enjoy dinner and spend the night at a local hotel.

Day 2 : Transfer From High Atlas Mountains To Ouarzazate And Boumalne Dades:

Continuing our 4- day Atlas Birding Tour, we bid farewell to the mountains and cross the impressive Tizi- n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters. During the approximately 4- hour drive to Ouarzazate, be on the lookout for raptors such as the Long- legged Buzzard and Bonelli's Eagle. We'll explore the Mansour Eddahbi barrage, where you may spot the Marbled Duck, Ruddy Shelduck, Black- winged Stilts, Maghreb Lark, Cormorants, and other fascinating bird species. Our journey will then take us to Skoura, the Valley of Roses, and Boumalne Dades, where we will enjoy dinner and stay overnight at a local hotel.

Day 3 : Boumalne Dades - Tagdilt Track - Dades Gorge - Ouarzazate

Get ready for an exhilarating day of birding in the Atlas Mountains on our Atlas Mountains Birding Tour from Marrakech. We'll drive to the renowned Tagdilt track, one of the top birding areas in Morocco. Here, you'll have the opportunity to spot incredible species such as the Trumpeter Finch, Thekla Lark, Hoopoe Lark, Temminck's Lark, Short- toed Lark, Red- rumped Wheatear, Cream- coloured Courser, Desert Wheatear, and the nomadic Thick- billed Lark. We will also explore the picturesque Dades Gorges, where you may witness the breeding of Bonelli's Eagle and Tristram's Warbler. As the day draws to a close, we'll return to Ouarzazate for dinner and accommodation at a local hotel.

Day 4 : Ouarzazate - Marrakech End Of Birding Tour

This 4 Days High Atlas Bird Watching Tour from Marrakech​ is an opportunity to spot a variety of birds, eagles, raptors, and larks as we will organize everything in the tour including accommodation, food, transport, and knowledgeable guides.

Day 1 : Marrakech » High Atlas Mountains » Oukaimeden

Our High Atlas Bird-watching tour will start from your accommodation in Marrakech or the local Marrakech airport. Our journey will start by driving into the high Atlas mountains where you will explore the beauty of the area and what nature gives us as a gift.

during the comfort ride, keep your eyes open and watch around we may spot a variety of species like Moussier’s Redstart, Sardinian Warbler, Moroccan Magpie, Little Owl, Southern, House Bunting, and Southern Grey Shrike.

during our navigation between the rocks stay focused we will spot the Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker and the blue rock thrush. and then we will continue our journey to the renowned Moroccan ski resort of Oukaimeden where we will spot Rock Sparrows, Crimson-winged Finch, Atlas Horned Larks, and Alpine Chough.

here our day will be finished so we will go to enjoy a dinner and spend the night at a local hotel.

Day 2 : High Atlas Mountains » Ouarzazate » Boumalne Dades

A good start to the second day after eating our breakfast we will leave the high Atlas Mountains and our destination will be Ouarzazate, so our trip will take 4 hours passing by the amazing Tizi-n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters.

during we are driving in Tizi-n’Tichka pass we may find raptors such as the Bonelli’s Eagle and Long-legged Buzzard, and then we will go into the Mansour Eddahbi barrage where we will spot some species like Maghreb Lark, Ruddy Shelduck, Marbled Duck, Cormorants, and Black-winged Stilts.

After spotting these species in the Mansour Eddahbi barrage we will continue to Sakoura, Valley of Roses, then we will go to have a dinner and spend a Night in Boumalne Dades at a local hotel.

Day 3 : Boumalne Dades » Tagdilt Track » Dades Gorge » Ouarzazate

Waking up in the early morning and smelling the clean air with the calm while you are eating your breakfast is a great feeling. 

Our first destination is Tagdilt Track where we will have a great opportunity to spot a variety of species such as the Thekla Lark, Short-toed Lark, Cream-coloured Courser, Hoopoe Lark, Desert Wheatear, the nomadic Thick-billed Lark, the Trumpeter Finch, Temminck’s Lark, and Red-rumped Wheatear.

After visiting the Tagdilt Track we will move to explore the beauty of Dades Gorges and we may spot Tristram’s warbler and the breeding of Bonelli’s Eagle. then we will go back to spend the night in Ouarzazate with a dinner there at a local hotel.

Day 4 : Ouarzazate » Marrakech End Of Our Birding Tour

Day 4 is the end of our birding tour as we will transfer you from Ouarzazate To Marrakech passing by the high Atlas Mountains and enjoying the great landscapes as we will several stops to take souvenir photos to Maximize your bird-watching tour experience in Morocco.

We will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon where you will have dinner and spend the night at a local hotel.

From the scenic Atlantic coast via the forested Atlas Mountains to the very edge of the great Sahara desert, Morocco is magnificent at any season. Blessed with the richest birdlife in northwest Africa, the country deservedly ranks as one of the Western Palearctic's truly great birding destinations. Specialties of the region include Eleonora's Falcon, Barbary Partridge, Double-spurred Francolin, Levaillant's Woodpecker, Moussier's Redstart, African Desert and Tristram's warblers, African Blue Tit, Desert Sparrow, and the Critically Endangered Waldrapp (Northern Bald Ibis).

For those with an interest in regional races and forms, this is an exciting area, too. In fact, a number of birds here may yet be elevated to full species--among them the distinctive forms of Long-legged Buzzard, Purple Swamphen, White Wagtail, Mourning and Northern wheatears, Eurasian Magpie, and Chaffinch (several have already been split within the last few years, for example Maghreb Magpie and African Blue Tit).

A long history of settlement by an array of different peoples, including the Moors and Berbers, as well as strong French and Spanish influences, has produced a country that not only has a wonderfully diverse birdlife but an exciting and varied culture, too. Morocco is not a wealthy country; hotels vary, but in the main they are good and come as a pleasant surprise to most visitors. This coupled with the country's often spectacular and ever-changing landscape, its distinctive Moorish cuisine, and a people noted for their traditions of hospitality and warmth, should make this a tour to remember!

The northeastern state of New Jersey is best known for its bustling cities, summer beach towns, and close proximity to all that New York City has to offer, but its small communities give it a cozy, welcoming feel. No matter what time of year you visit, either on a business trip, holiday vacation, or weekend getaway, you'll find a charming small town to make you feel "at home" during the duration of your stay. Check out one of these eight picturesque towns while traveling in 2024.

Asbury Park

Pretty Asbury Park is the quintessential New Jersey shore town, complete with a historic beach boardwalk lined with ice cream shops and cafes, plenty of sandy coastlines, and a warm and welcoming community feel. The charming beach town comes to life with an abundance of special events, such as the AsburyFest, the Annual Asbury Park Restaurant Tour, and the Asbury Park Zombie Walk, all throughout the year.

Start your visit by stopping in the Asbury Park Chamber, where you can get an up-to-date events calendar and become acquainted with all that the town offers. If you love the arts, catch a show performed by the Premier Theatre Company or listen to live music at The Stone Pony, a famous music venue dating back to 1974. Don't miss the Silverball Museum Arcade, which features a collection of 600 retro and modern-day pinball machines, as well as a museum and an eatery.

Nestled on the Atlantic Coast , Ocean City is the perfect vacation destination during the warm summer months and offers several special events and indoor attractions all year long. Whether you're planning a family trip or a girls' weekend getaway, Ocean City will welcome you with an exciting boardwalk, a 10-mile stretch of sandy beaches, and a cozy community feel. The quaint seaside town was also named Coastal Living Magazine's "Best Beach in America."

To enjoy the ideal Ocean City summer day, simply put a towel or chair down on the powdery sand, and watch the waves roll in, or splash around in the cool water. If you're feeling more adventurous, take surfing lessons from downtown's 7th Street Surf Shop, or rent a paddleboard or kayak from Heritage Surf & Sport. Congo Falls Miniature Golf beckons to kids and adults of all ages, as does Jilly's Arcade.

Pretty Princeton is best known for being home to Ivy League Princeton University, but it also offers much more, whether you want to spend just a few days or an extended stay. With its charming downtown, collection of locally owned shops and eateries, and rich arts and culture background, the small town of Princeton has a warm, cozy vibe. The destination also has an impressive number of historical attractions, including Princeton Battlefield State Park, a Revolutionary War site.

History lovers also will want to check out the Morven Museum and Garden, the Historical Society of Princeton, and the Old Barracks Museum, which showcases a brick building that was built in 1758 as a French and and Indian War military barracks. For outdoor enthusiasts, the New Jersey Audubon Society's Plainsboro Preserve in a must-see spot. The 1000-acre preserve consists of more than five miles of trails, and is home to over 150 species of birds and wildlife.

The picturesque town of Montclair appeals to many travelers as it offer big-city amenities in a friendly, laid-back setting. The charming urban suburb of New York City has a vibrant downtown filled with museums, art galleries, eclectic boutiques, antique shops and eateries. The town draws in creatives and artists of all types, and is home to the impressive Montclair Art Museum, which offers a dynamic collection of rotating exhibits, films, and live concerts.

Garden lovers won't want to miss the Avis Campbell Gardens, a 7000-square-foot relaxing retreat filled with fragrant blooming flowers during the warm spring and summer months. If history is your thing, spend a few hours at the Montclair History Center, which is housed in the Clark House and Albert Payson Terhune Library. The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center explores the life and career of the professional American baseball catcher, a New Jersey native.

West Cape May

The cozy seaside town of West Cape May offers miles of pristine Atlantic coastline and is known as the "Queen of the Seaside Resorts" due to its abundance of Victorian-era architecture. Cape May is the oldest seaside resort in the country, and the entire town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You can wander around the town's charming historic downtown on foot, exploring locally owned shops and eateries, or sign up for a narrated trolley tour.

Be sure to check out the Cape May Lighthouse, which was constructed in 1859 and features a 199-step original, cast iron spiral staircase. From the top of the lighthouse, you'll be treated to an expansive view of the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay. The 1879 Physick House Museum, which is filled with period pieces and depicts life during the Victorian Era, is another must-see attraction.

Located in Bergin County, welcoming Ridgewood is considered a "bedroom community" of New York City, but it offers much more. Although the small town is just 20 miles from Midtown Manhattan, it feels like a world away due to its relaxing atmosphere and friendly community. The town features a quaint downtown village square, which boasts a blend of locally owned and Zagat-rated restaurants, cafes, and unique shops. If you're visiting during the warmer months of the year, enjoy the outdoors at Graydon Park, which features a pool, sports fields, and an outdoor roller rink.

Spring Lake

The stunning small town of Spring Lake is situated on the Jersey Shore and offers visitors the chance to "get away from it all" while still enjoying a variety of outdoor adventures, charming shops and eateries, historic sites, and miles of sandy beaches. Dubbed the "Jewel of the Jersey Shore," Spring Lake draws in visitors from all over due to its scenic tree-lined downtown, non-commercial boardwalk, and the relaxing sounds of ocean waves.

One of the town's most popular attractions is the Allaire Historic Village, which was once a self-sufficient community filled with a blacksmith shop, a bakery, a general store, and a church. Today, the historic site features original buildings and is an interactive, hands-on museum that brings local history to life. There's not much to see now other than trees, birds and maybe a few rabbits, but Holman Island in Summerside Harbour was once home to a 125-room tourist resort.

And anyone curious about taking a tour of the present and imagining the past now has that opportunity. This summer, the Bedeque Area Historical Museum is offering a rare opportunity to go on a guided walking tour of the island.

Museum operations manager Caeley Currie said she wanted to create a program that "got people up and about and exploring the local community."

"I think [Holman] Island is a big mystery for a lot of people, you know, whether you are from Central Bedeque or Summerside or Lower Bedeque," Currie said.

"A lot of folks have admired the Island for perhaps their whole lives but haven't really known much about it."

The tour is a three-kilometre walk along the ocean floor and around the perimeter of Island at low tide.

The program began with three tours in early July, and has added new dates for July 20-22.  

The 37-hectare island is now owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada as a protected bird and wildlife habitat.

It was the site of the Island Park Hotel, which opened in 1872 but closed just five years later when its owner died. The resort fell into disrepair and was eventually destroyed by fire in 1904. 

"We'll be pointing out places that may not look like much today but used to be the site of different structures or a place where ships would land, so it'll be a lot of bringing stories to life because there's not much left on the island these days besides trees, which is a good thing, of course," Currie said.
